LG support did nothing to help me. I received mine and after 4 months a pixel died, I sent it back and after they replaced the panel it just came back with another dead pixel in a different spot. For the money you can do much better, the overall brightness and clarity is easily beaten by competitors particularly QD OLED. Quite honestly it looks like an LCD and not an OLED. I have had many issues with products from LG in the past such as my LG G1 OLED TV also having dead pixels form and having to be sent back multiple times. I will never be buying from this company again quite honestly.

LG Brings the Pop of OLED to Computer Gaming!

OLEDs have typically been a TV only commodity but in recent years you have seen them more in things like Computer Monitors, however LG brings it to the next level with their new UltraGear 27” Gaming monitor that brings that OLED pop to your gaming and everyday computing needs.
PROS:
- Unboxing I was very impressed with how thin the screen is. Of course it gets thicker in the middle due tot he ports and lighting, but the screen is ultra thin since it is an OLED.
- It’s overall very easy to setup! You can either use the stand it comes with, which is very high end and heavy duty, or you can mount it with the brackets it has.
- Once you are setup, the OLED makes an instant impact! The colors are so well refined, the darks are ultra black, the whites pop in contrast, and overall it’s an impactful screen to your senses!
- Another perk of the screen is that it has some anti-glare tech on it to make sure it provides the best screen with little to no reflections or glare from what’s going on in the room while you game!
- The specs on this are insane and it’s noticeable as well. Like the 480Hz refresh rate that has a 0.03ms response time. When you are gaming, that time and response matters to make the best possible situations for you and LG simply provides that with this monitor.
- Unboxing it comes with all the cables (HDMI, DisplayPort, etc) you need which is a fantastic change of pace. This also comes in hand as the HDMI and DisplayPorts are both 2.1 rated ports which provides the best speeds possible and will make this be a long time purchase for you.
CONS:
- For the price point, built in speakers would have been nice but this monitor does not have any.
BOTTOM LINE:
- The LG UltraGear 27” OLED is a marvel of a computer monitor. Not only does it bring high end HDR OLED excellence to your screen, but its packed with top of the line perks like 480hz refresh rate, NVIDIA G-Sync, 2.1 display ports, and low glare levels. When you are using your monitor for gaming, work, or life you want the best possible experience and this monitor brings that to the table and so much more! It’s been so much fun to use and I think this OLED is going to be the benchmark.

The LG Ultragear 27 GX is one of those monitors that simply looks absurd on paper. It was just a couple years ago that OLED monitors were niche in the PC monitor space, especially those that were good for gamers. That technology soon advanced to be viable for gaming monitors, and now here we are with ultra competitive capable monitors.
Starting with Ergonomics on this monitor, I am a little disappointed. The monitor stand is a bit bulky for what it needs to be, with an extremely wide riser and a heavy, but large base. Thats not really a big deal to me as I use a VESA mount for my monitors, but for those that care, it might be annoying. Its nice though that its entirely flat so you can easily slide a desktop mat over it and not really notice it much. The title/swivel and elevation change was very sturdy and functional. No complaints there. The biggest issue I had with the ergonomics was the ports on the backside. On my other two monitors the ports were arranged parallel to the panel, so the cables would run down towards the floor flat like. These are perpendicular to the panel, so the plugs stand out of the back of the panel. This is obnoxious when it comes to routing cables through the stand, and also if you want to flat mount against the wall. Firm cables are going to make it so that you have a decent standoff if flat mounting it, probably 3-6in depending on the setup.
Another issue I have is the single button for On/Off/Menu. This is an OLED monitor, for good health of the panel, its best not to use it while you're not gaming or watching a movie. Desktop use is very bad for these. So when I'm not using the monitor, I turn it off. This can be multiple times a day. Its annoying to have to click the button, then press up, then press the button again every time to turn it off. Minor annoyance, but my other OLED monitor has two buttons, one for the menu, one for power making it really simple to turn off.
The monitor comes with programmable RGB on the back of the panel. I didn't mess with this much as I don't really like RGB much, and since my monitor isn't back up to a wall, it wouldn't have made any difference from where I am sitting anyways. But it is there, and easily programmed within the menu.
The menu of the monitor is easily navigated with the one button setup, with it acting as a D-Pad at the same time. The menu was very straightforward but a little minimalistic with picture quality settings. I often felt it was a little less vibrant than I would like, and the presets didn't allow me to tune it to my preference. Nothing too bad, but more color tuning would have been nice. Supposedly these are factory calibrated, but I didn't receive a calibration report in the box like it is supposed to come with.
Ergonomics aside though, this monitor is absolutely beautiful. Like other OLEDs, this has a near infinite contrast ratio which really makes your scenes pop, especially if they are dark with vibrant areas. This monitor does really well in SDR mode specifically. In SDR mode its really bright, brighter than my 4k OLED panel by a significant amount. I don't have tools the measure specifically, but its was easily noticable with the naked eye. This is without the brightness boost turned up compared to my other OLED with brightness all the way up. In SDR mode the colors really really pop as well.
In HDR mode it loses a bit of its appeal while on the desktop (browsing the internet, using office apps, etc). For some reason the HDR conversion in Windows on this monitor doesn't do well. Compared to my other monitor the colors felt really off. For instance, the Rockstar logo on my desktop looked Mustard Brown, as opposed to vibrant yellow on my other monitor. This is a minor issue as you really shouldn't be doing desktop work in HDR mode, but something I noticed. It also seemed to be noticeably less bright in HDR mode. Not bad, just not as bright as SDR. More in line with my other monitor.
Picture quality aside, text quality is lacking. With this panel they decided to go with a matte finish with an anti reflective coating. These work really well for minimizing reflections, but at the same time they really hurt the text clarity. As a programmer I honestly couldn't bring myself to code on this monitor. This was interesting to me because this monitor uses WOLED as opposed to QD-OLED which has a different subpixel layout. The QD-OLED should have worse text quality, but that wasn't the case here. Text appeared to be blurred because of this coating. For general use its not bad, but if you're going to be staring at a lot of text, probably want to consider something else.
For gaming, this monitor is phenomenal though. If you're into competitive shooters and you want the best picture quality possible, this monitor is for you. The insanely high refresh rate makes motion so fluid that I could tell a difference on my 240hz OLED monitor. 240hz is already no slouch and looks very smooth, but 480hz is better. We're at the point of extremely diminishing returns though, and it takes doubling the refresh rate to really tell a difference, but its still noticable. Inherent motion blur was gone, pixel response is incredibly fast and tracking motion was easier because of it. If you're in to competitive shooters, this monitor is worth considering.
All in all, this is a pretty good monitor. If you need a more general purpose monitor, there are probably better options, but if you are strictly going for a gaming monitor that is plenty bright and has a high refresh rate, it doesn't really get better than this.

I was very hesitant on getting into OLED because of its organic properties. The monitors just don't age well. In this case I believe LG has it all figured out. This monitor not only looks incredible but operates incredibly straight out of the box as well. The true blacks are astonishing all the time, the fact that actual pixels on my monitors are simply turning off to give that beautiful look never ceases to amaze me.
The 480Hz is something. Zero screen tearing, and everything plays flawlessly smooth on it.
I upgraded from a 144Hz monitor and unfortunately my RTX5080 was always pushing past the refresh rate limits of my monitors. This upgrade has given me significant amounts of headroom to blast through all the frames that I could possibly want.
Check out the light bleed on my LCDs versus the OLEDs. The difference is what I expected it to be. Nothing beats true blacks.

Honestly, an extremely clean and sleek monitor. The color quality is great, and so is everything else stats wise. The ONLY complaint I have, is the bottom stand does come out a bit far. So I recommend using a monitor arm instead if you plan on using a keyboard or mouse.

This monitor looks amazing. I have seen several reviews talking about brightness with the monitor. It has an option to turn it up in the settings and it gives you two choices. I don't even use them it looks great without it. I tried both and liked it like it came out of the box. I'm not sure how bright someone needs it. I use it mainly for gaming but I have had zero issues with web browsing or reading documents or anything else. It is hooked to a brand new system so maybe some of the other complaints about text is another hardware issue or maybe I just got lucky and got a solid monitor. I looked at a lot of monitors and read a lot of reviews and I am happy I picked this one. It doesn't have any speakers but I can't say I have ever needed any on a monitor. If you do this would be the only con I could find.

This monitor is endgame and the end goal for so many! The 480hz is butterfly smooth and 1440p and such great crisp quality, I’ll while being on an OLED with the best colors. This is the only monitor I’ve ever bought that hasn’t already come with dead pixels that I notice a couple hours into playing. The setup was super easy, and I didn’t even have to screw the screen into the stand, it just slid in a locked. It also comes with all cables needs, power and all the DP and HDMI’s that are needed to output this high res and hz. I can’t recommend it enough.

Panel is beautiful, 480hz is wild and will never even be perceived by our eyes at that frame rate, but it’s nice to know that it’s there. Construction and manipulation of height are also a plus. I will be using this monitor for years. Only down side is the setting menu can be a bit frustrating to navigate but there’s not a whole lot you need to change unless you’re very particular about the displa.

Excellent color and picture quality, the anti-reflective matte finish does a really good job at minimizing reflections. 480hz is insane and very cool, but good luck finding more than 10 games that can run at that insane number unless you have a beefy enough system, some games did for me but it was only a few. The stand unfortunately did not push the monitor to a low enough spot that was entirely comfortable on my desk as it has an upper shelf, though that is purely a personal/minor setup issue that can be easily solved with a new stand/arm. The stand that is included is great and sturdy, but you really need to turn the cables to an uncomfortablly sharp angle to properly fit, and you'll need those thick cables that can support the required bandwidth. Other than those personal gripes it's hard to find a combination of features and specs that beat this amazing display.

1. Kinetic Perception
The transition from a 360Hz refresh cycle to the 480Hz ceiling was initially approached with skepticism regarding the diminishing returns of human optical perception. However, empirical testing reveals a tangible elevation in visual fluidity. The synchronization between the panel and the graphics processing unit creates a motion floor that is exceptionally distinct. The latency reduction is palpable; the hardware renders motion with a "smoothness" that borders on liquid, effectively eliminating the friction between intent and on-screen execution.
2. Chromatic Depth & Luminance
While the OLED architecture delivers infinite contrast, the chromaticity exhibits variances in saturation dependent on the operational scenario. There is a perceptible reduction in luminance vibrancy compared to expectation—visuals occasionally appear "duller" than the theoretical peak. This anomaly suggests a dependency on rigorous manual calibration rather than an inherent panel defect. The user is required to navigate complex setting profiles to force the panel to maintain full spectrum integrity across variable content.
3. Typographic Resolution
In the context of literary production—specifically the drafting of Echos Within—the panel presents a distinct optical challenge. Text elements suffer from a lack of edge definition, making prolonged focus difficult. The characters struggle to maintain sharpness, inducing minor ocular strain. This visual aberration is likely exacerbated by the lack of a dedicated preset optimized for high-contrast typography versus the motion-centric demands of gaming. The dichotomy between gaming performance and text rendering is the primary friction point.
4. Interface Ergonomics
The physical interface demonstrates robust signal integrity; "blackout" events or handshake failures are non-existent. However, the port architecture requires specific attention to cable tensile strength and flexibility. The rear input positioning lacks optimal ergonomic foresight, demanding a cable capable of acute angles without signal degradation. Despite this geometric rigidity, the functional throughput is flawless.
Subpixel Architecture: The "focus" issues with text are likely physical, not software-based. WOLED panels utilize an RWBG subpixel layout that Windows ClearType renderers cannot perfectly address. No amount of "settings" adjustment will physically realign the subpixels to standard RGB stripes.
ABL Aggression: The "dull" colors are physically mandated by the Auto Brightness Limiter to prevent organic decay (burn-in). Falsely attributing this to "settings" ignores the thermal and chemical limitations of the organic diodes.
