    An Immersive Gaming Monitor!

Need to upgrade a monitor? Do you need a monitor that works for both productivity and gaming? If the answer to both is yes, I would certainly recommend looking into this LG UltraGear OLED monitor. Not only does it provide an immersive experience, but the monitor is big enough to have multiple windows displayed which allows you to multitask like never before. In this review, I will go over my experience using the LG UltraGear 34” OLED Curved Gaming Monitor. Note that I tested the monitor on a gaming PC and the PS5. *TLDR at the bottom ============== IN THE BOX/SETUP: Once you have the box in front of you, be sure to open the box on the correct side to make setup easier. Once everything is put together, it is as simple as plug-and-play. One minor downside to this monitor is the massive power supply. It is large, and to those with limited space, it may be a burden. You will also receive a high-speed HDMI 2.1 cable Display Port cable, and a USB-A to USB-B cable. ============== FIRST IMPRESSIONS: One of the first things you will notice about this monitor is its sheer size. I am used to 24”-27” monitors and moving to something of this size does take some time getting used to. This does have an OLED display, so the colors are vibrant, and the viewing angles are incredible. Minimal bezels also contribute to the immersive experience. The stand is on the larger end so be sure to have some space available on your desk or wherever you plan to place this monitor. For something of this size, it would’ve been neat if a controller was included, to access settings, there is a joystick located on the monitor’s rear. The joystick works fine as it is but having a controller would’ve been a great addition. ============== FEATURES: This monitor contains plenty of worthwhile features. Physically, the monitor has what LG calls “Hexagon Lighting” which is simply RGB on the rear of the monitor. This can be configured to either be a static color or a cycle of colors. You will need to do this through the monitor’s settings. This is an OLED monitor, and as a result, you will get a wide array of accurate and vibrant colors. Whether you are gaming, or watching a film, the display does a fantastic job of immersing you into the scene. I was also able to use the monitor to get some work done, and simply put, it’s a great monitor for multitasking. Having multiple windows displayed on one monitor without cutting a lot of the window off is akin to having two small displays right by each other. ============== PERFORMANCE: Now, for the good stuff! I will start with performance using a gaming PC since that is what most people will be using this monitor for. Do note that I ran everything on a rig with a 3070 and an i7. One of the main selling points of this monitor is the 0.03 response time and the 240Hz refresh rate. I did have to play around with some settings to get the performance needed but once I did, the difference is as clear as day! It’s especially clear in FPS games like Destiny 2. I am usually a quality-over-performance type of person but being able to see less motion blur at the cost of quality was surreal. I also played Forza Horizon 5, which wasn’t as clear, but I was still able to notice less motion blur. As for the response time, it's so low that I did not get a “ghosting” of any image in whatever I was doing! The OLED display certainly helps in bringing out the blacks in games. This was clear in Destiny 2 and in Control which has many dark areas. If needed, blacks can be brightened up even more within the monitor’s settings. The PS5, while it only supports up to 120Hz, played well on the monitor but there are drawbacks. The OLED and QHD display bring out the beautiful and vibrant colors of games like Far Cry 6. Unfortunately, the console is best played at a 16:9 aspect ratio which places black bars on the sides. Playing on a 21:9 aspect ratio will stretch the image and I’m not sure about you, but the last thing I want is to be aiming at stretched faces while playing FC6. Besides this issue, the PS5 runs smoothly and looks amazing on this monitor. ============== CONCLUSION/TLDR: Overall, this is a great Ultra-Wide gaming monitor. It is on the more expensive side, but these tend to go on discount every once in a while. Once it does, I strongly think you should give this gaming monitor a shot. Not only does it provide a more immersive experience when playing games or watching a film, but it also provides the ability to multitask for those who work on their computer on a daily basis. If you are thinking of using this for console gaming, I do recommend you look somewhere else, there are more suitable options out there for your console.

This screen is really good. You really don’t look at screens the same way when you’ve seen something like this. I’ve had it for around 6 months and it has totally stepped up my gaming experience. I play games like Space Marine 2 and Red Dead Redemption and the HDR and high refresh rate is amazing. The only downside is that it is more on the pricey side and takes a good rig to really use its potential. You definitely don’t need to have but if you have the money it’s a great addition.

I’ve been wanting to upgrade my two monitor setup for a while, moving on from my trusty 27" curved Samsung at 60hz and an older 34" curved Samsung at 100hz VA panel. I was especially pumped about the LG 34" OLED Curved WQHD monitor. The idea of getting my hands on a display with a refresh rate of up to 240hz was everything I’d been wanting, and my initial plan was to replace both old monitors with this LG. But, as I unboxed and prepped for setup, I realized I had enough space to keep both the LG and the 34" Samsung in a dual setup, which would maximize productivity and create a super immersive workspace. I’d read about the LG’s 800R curve and was honestly a little worried it might feel too intense. Out of the box, though, it hit a sweet spot. The curve feels more immersive than overwhelming, bringing me right into the game or workflow. The monitor has a premium, high-quality feel with its beautiful white finish and minimalist design. Even the bezels are nearly invisible on all four sides, much sleeker than what I had before. The included stand is solid and well-designed, although it does take up a fair amount of desk real estate, so I opted to go with a VESA 100mm desk mount, which worked perfectly. The monitor setup came with everything I needed: HDMI, DisplayPort, and a USB hub cable that connects the built-in 2-port USB hub. The screen doesn’t have built-in speakers, but it does have a 3.5mm jack to connect external audio, which is all I need. And even powered off, the OLED display just has that premium, deep-black look that hints at the vibrancy to come. I know that sounds strange, but I noticed this immediately compared to my VA screens, which tend to look grayish when off. Getting it powered up and adjusted was as simple as plug and play. I immediately appreciated the joystick control on the back of the monitor for tuning settings and turning on the subtle LED strip lights on the back of the monitor which are a little unnoticeable unless you are gaming in a dark room. There’s also an LG app that makes on-screen adjustments simple for quick changes, although it’s not as fully featured as the physical controls. Now, let’s get into performance. With my PC’s 4060 Ti GPU, I was finally able to test out what this setup can do. LG’s G-Sync and FreeSync features are fully supported but requires a gpu that can support Display port 1.4 and HDMI 2.1 to achieve 240hz refresh rate, so I was confident I could hit 240hz refresh with no issues using DisplayPort 1.4 or HDMI 2.1. OMG! Launching my first game and seeing it in full color at 240hz was jaw-dropping. It was simply mesmerizing with buttery smooth action, crisp display with full color and immersion. The screen’s response time of 0.03ms meant there was zero screen tearing, and the anti-glare coating kept reflections down to a minimum. The display stayed crisp and immersive through every session, even with the occasional memory overload crash when running multiple apps across the dual monitor setup. That said, I don’t think this had anything to do with the monitor itself, just the GPU handling a lot of tasks at once. And while 240hz is beautiful, I took it down to 144hz for some sessions, which honestly looks just as stunning and delivers a smooth experience. The 34" screen with the 21:9 aspect ratio and 800R curve feels like it was made for both gaming and productivity. Bottom line? If you’ve been on the fence about curved OLEDs or a high refresh rate, this monitor is where you want to land especially when you can find it on sale. The LG 34" OLED Curved WQHD is truly immersive and incredibly satisfying for any gamer or multi-tasker. Do not be intimidated by the “steep curve”; you will quickly adjust and fall in love fast!

--- SETUP --- The LG UltraGeat 34” monitor is easy to set up. It only took one person to put together and required no tools to assemble. Time to assemble is approximately 5 minutes. --- FEATURES --- OLED display, QHD Resolution 3440 x1440, 240Hz refresh rate, NVIDIA G-SYNC compatible, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro, 800R Curve, Anti-Glare, 2 Year UltraGear OLED Warranty --- EXPECTATIONS and PERFORMANCE --- The size of the monitor makes it ideal to carry by one person. Assembly was extremely easy, as it is just a matter of having the stand click with the monitor and the base can be tightened manually without tools. After assembly is finished, if needed, it can be disassembled easily for travel or storage, which is a big plus for me. This is my second UltraGear monitor and they continue to impress me. 34” is a lot of monitor. If you are using this for work, then imagine you have a 2 monitor setup where there is no middle bezel getting in the way. It is really one of the best ways to work. As an office monitor, not only will it not disappoint, it will impress any of your coworkers and even cause jealousy! However, let’s talk about where this monitor excels even more, gaming! As a gaming monitor, I find that this is actually an ideal size for gaming if your gaming rig can handle all the monitor has to offer. I tested this monitor with the following games: Starfield, A Plague Tale: Requiem, Hellblade 2 Senua’s Sacrifice, and Cyberpunk 2077. The specs of my computer are: Processor 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-13700KF 3.40 GHz Installed RAM 32.0 GB (31.8 GB usable) Device ID B36C127E-F124-40F8-8211-665DDE73A49D Product ID 00342-21094-39839-AAOEM System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060Ti With these specs, my gaming PC is built for peak performance. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti is a graphics powerhouse designed to deliver stunning visuals and high frame rates. It handles high-end gaming at 4K resolutions with ease, supporting ray tracing for realistic lighting and shadows. It also means it lets me take advantage of DLSS 3, and all of this is to say that combined, this UltraGear monitor takes full advantage of my computer. The visual fidelity of my games is stunning! The refresh rate keeps up even with fast paced action games, like my run and gun session of Cyberpunk. Not once during my playthrough did I experience screen tearing. There was no chugging and I always felt like my games were crisp and clear. Lastly, this monitor includes any cable you might want to connect to your PC, so that is highly appreciated. I used a display port cable for the best resolution possible. However, this monitor also pairs nicely with your PS5 or Xbox Series X! --- APPROVAL --- If you’ve been using a starting gaming monitor and you are ready to step up to the bigger leagues, this is a great monitor that you will fall in love with. As an office monitor, you will have so much deskspace, you’ll wonder how you ever worked without one. As a gaming monitor, any gaming computer you have will pair well with this monitor, but if you have an RTX NVIDIA gaming graphics card, then prepare to be stunned by the amazing sharpness of this monitor.

I bought this in order to create a dedicated gaming space in my home. This screen was a huge jump since its my first gaming monitor ever. It was a well worth it purchase as the picture is crisp and clean. The LED light on the back of the monitor, the ability to adjust the height are also awesome features. Very happy ☺️

I recently added a new PC to my setup and realized that my old monitor wasn’t going to cut it any longer. I had a 4K monitor, but it’s refresh rate was only 60hz. This LG monitor provides a 240hz refresh rate which makes everything smoother when I play Call of Duty. The only downside was that I was sacrificing the 4K resolution for 1440HD. When I sat this LG WQHD side by side with the 4K I already had, I was shocked at how good the picture is on the LG. It’s stunning. And the curve of the screen is superb for an immersive feel when you play games or watch any media. The sheer size of the monitor commands attention. Transitioning from smaller screens may require an adjustment period, but the payoff is immense. The OLED display dazzles with vibrant colors and impeccable viewing angles, drawing you into the action. While the stand demands desk real estate, its minimal bezels contribute to an immersive visual experience. Set up of the monitor was super easy. It is compatible with a VESA mount, but the stand is very cool, too. The control stick is at the center of the screen and a little tricky to use, but it is a minor complaint in an otherwise phenomenal screen. The monitor features 2 x HDMI ports and 1 x DisplayPort. I would have liked to see a USB-C port as well. Another things to be aware of is that this monitor uses 21:9 aspect ratio and some games may not go full screen because of this. This aspect ratio also comes with a higher price. The LG UltraGear packs a punch with its array of features. From customizable RGB lighting to OLED technology, every detail is optimized for peak performance. Multitasking is a breeze with ample screen real estate, akin to having multiple monitors seamlessly integrated into one. Overall this monitor is glorious. It is a game-changer in every sense of the word. While it may come with a premium price tag, the investment is well worth it for enthusiasts seeking the pinnacle of visual performance. From deep blacks to vibrant colors, every aspect of this monitor is meticulously crafted to elevate your gaming and multimedia experience. If you're ready to take the leap into OLED technology, the LG UltraGear belongs at the top of your wishlist. There are just a few minor things that would make this a PERFECT monitor — even at WQHD and not 4K.

This is my first oled monitor or tv and seeing it in my house compared to under the bright lights of a store, is truly amazing when it comes to colors. The vibrancy of the screen even having a matte finish is truly something I wished I would have experienced earlier, as even games you’ve been playing for a long time just feel different. The 240 hz and .03 milliseconds response time make everything buttery smooth. When playing games such as GTA 5, Red Dead Redemption and Elden Ring, the worlds truly come to life with how vibrant they are and the curve just makes it that much more immersive. I used the VESA mount option to mount mine but the mount that comes with it is very robust and allows for multiple positions. You get a display port cable, hdmi 2.1 cable and a USB A to B cable. The screen cleaning feature is a nice addition and just gives you that piece of mind that you don’t have to worry about burn in. The only button is on the back at the bottom and is easy to miss if you’re not looking for it. This gives you access to all the settings such as the screen cleaning feature, changing inputs, power and more. Unfortunately you can’t give half stars but if you could, this monitor to me is really a 4.5 out of 5 and the biggest reason is the price. If it was a maybe a couple hundred cheaper it would easily be a 5. With that said, you know you’re buying a monitor from one of the leaders in the OLED market. If you haven’t experienced an OLED monitor and are ready to take your gaming to the next level, this monitor needs to be on your short list! It has blacks that are so deep you’ll think the monitor is off when the screen is completely black and colors that are just incredible.

What an upgrade! The LG UltraGear 34" OLED Curved WQHD 240Hz Monitor made a huge improvement to how my games and multi-media content look. Gaming performance is a dream. Gaming on 3440 x 1440 at 240hz creates an incredibly immersive experience. I’m running a Radeon 7800XT and finally getting to see all it has to offer. With a reported 0.03ms response time you will never have to worry about ghosting or unintentional motion blur. This is my first OLED gaming experience, and I cannot believe how deep the blacks are and how vibrant the colors are. Honestly, Cyberpunk 2077 has never looked better. Night City truly came alive, and neon never looked so good. With the addition of HDR10 the depths, shadows, and explosions are unreal. I generally arm mount my monitors so VESA mount is a must. Installation was easy and my existing arm worked like a charm. The 800R curve was more than I was used to. It did take a few days for me to get comfortable with the steep wrap, but it really does you into whatever you are working on. The aesthetic is minimal with sleek black bezels and nothing too out of character. The manual control button is hidden in the back directly in the center of the monitor. I spent way too long feeling around the corners before just spinning the monitor around and finding it in the center. Not a placement I’ve experienced before with manual monitoring controls, but not really an issue afterwards. The LG UltraGear 34" OLED is a work of art. If you’re ready to elevate your gaming and multi-media experience, put this monitor on your shortlist. Deep blacks, incredible colors, and silky-smooth performance—it’s a one of the best around.

The LG UltraGear 34” OLED curved monitor has changed my thoughts on curved monitors and now I found that they are great for me to use, especially when it comes to gaming. This monitor features very high-end specs and performance numbers that you would expect from a gaming monitor and has taken my gaming PC set up to the next level for sure. The HDR true black 400 really makes the colors pop and look fantastic. The 240Hz anti-glare / low reflection OLED screen is curved in a way that it helps you feel like you are more immersed in the game as you play. The resolution is not 4k, but to be honest, I don’t need 4k currently, and the 3440x1440 (WQHD) looks great with this size of this monitor. The pixel count is great, but I do think if you go up to a larger size, you may notice the pixels more, but this 34” is perfect for this WQHD resolution. I am using this with my Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 powered laptop, and I am very happy with the results. The anti-glare coating does not cause any issues and helps with the normal glare of the lamp that is positioned behind me in my room. The monitor stand is hefty and holds this monitor very nicely, it is an L shaped metal and plastic mount that allows you to adjust the height, angle, and swivel it, and the design allows you to pretty much back this up right against a wall which is nice if you have a shallower desk. The connections on the monitor include all the options that you would need. 2 HDMI 2.1 ports, a DisplayPort 1.4, two USB type A ports and an upstream USB port as well, and finally a 3.5mm DTS Headphone:X compatible audio jack rounds out the ports. On the back of the monitor are LED lights that you can customize with different colors if you wish, they are off by default, but you can adjust in the general Settings of the monitor. Speaking of the settings, you access them by the joystick type button on the back of the monitor right in the middle. It took me a little bit of time to find it and it does take a little getting used to in order to turn off the monitor and navigate using this, but it is not that bad. Overall, this is one fantastic monitor that I am happy to be using and it is a bit on the pricey side of things, however, add the fact that you get a 2 year warranty that includes screen burn in and you have a great option to take your gaming sessions to the next level as well.

This monitor puts you into the games. I haven't had an upgrade as good as this before and you feel it each time you play. just make sure to have a powerful enough computer to put out 240 hz. I even used this as a monitor for my old laptop and got about 160 fps on a 4070 laptop. i run 240 on a 5090 all the time, just the right amount of power for the monitor. My least favorite thing about this monitor is that I get a headache after using it nonstop, but that is more of a me thing.

34" Monitor with a near under $500 dollar discount. I am enjoying my current gaming setup with this display a comparable center piece with my build. The details and all accuracy is exceeding expectations, thanks to the 240Hz. My only gripe is the fact this model does not include a remote where a less model does. I have been playing competitively with little concerns. The Oled even offers self cleaning. Cannot wait to see how this monitor handles as the years go. 11.14.25

I picked up this monitor on a great sale, coming from an older monitor that lost details in the shadows (Warzone). This WOLED panel has been game-changing, to say the least. While playing games, I abuse it.HDR is enabled and tuned for every game; brightness is on full blast. When using the monitor in the Windows environment, I turn the brightness to "0," and leave HDR enabled for content consumption and video chats/streaming. ***Buyer, beware, this panel technology is not great for bright and sunny rooms, my room is dark 24/7, your mileage may vary.

One of the best monitors ive ever had. I love this thing with a passion ive been using it for about 6ish months now and theres no way i could go back to a non oled screen. Perfect blacks and an amazing aspect ratio. While shure you are losing some screen with an ultra wide, nothing beats how easy it is to just become emersed in what ever your are playing. As far as cons the only one i have is just the comon image burn in but thats with any oled and you need to make sure you know how to take care or the panel before buying.

This monitor is a game changer. The higher refresh rate, low response time, and oled screen has been a huge upgrade compared to my previous 144hz 2k monitor. The blacks look really nice, and I like the larger ultra-wide display. Definitely worth the pick-up. I would wait for a sale though. Full price is a bit steep and LG monitors go on sale frequent enough to grab this at a steal.
