Customers are saying

Customers regard the UltraGear 38" IPS LED UltraWide monitor's large screen size and high refresh rate as significant strengths, praising the picture quality, color accuracy, and immersive gaming experience. However, some users find the HDR performance underwhelming and the price point high. While some noticed fan noise, the overall consensus points to a high-quality monitor with some trade-offs.

I could not imagine going bigger than this 38in monitor it is simply massive and beautiful. The on board controls are intuitive and they actually work. Over locking this to 174 is a no brainer if your lucky to run a 3080. Once you go 4K it’s hard to go back to anything else. Not a huge fan of the hdr though to be honest I don’t use it at all. Too bright even with a full professional calibration. The added rgb color is cute but not really necessary for me. It runs warm so be aware and with all monitors spend the extra cash on the extended warranty because bad pixels happen! Used mainly for video editing and still editing light gaming. Eyes Up Guardian

There are two major downsides to this monitor other than the price and one marketing thing that bothers me. 1) It is limited to Display port 1.4. You have to choose between image quality and speed. You can not set both to the highest. 2)The video sync for the rear lights could work better. It is a little slow to react since it runs off usb and not information pulled out of the video input on the monitor side. If you want to leave it as a random pattern or a solid color the work great. 3) The marketing thing: HDR 400 is not real HDR. When looking at this monitor and you see HDR 400 think of it as a marketing gimmick and not a real benefit. There is no localized dimming so when something really bright comes up on your screen for example a flashlight to get that really bright they have to make the whole screen brighter even in areas where is should still be darker. Now onto the good. 1) The screen looks great and I have had no issues running in the setup I list below. 2) The backlight bleed is a lot less than my old Dell U34w15. Setup: Refresh rate: 120Hz Color depth: 10bcp Output color format: RGB With that it focuses a little more on color quality than panel speed. Conclusion: If you want the best monitor out there at 38" ultrawide this is probably it, but I think that they are charging more than it is worth. I would have a hard time recommending this to someone unless their disposable income allows them to spend nearly $2000 and not think twice about it.

I have had this monitor for several months now. This is my second LG 38” Ultrawide. The first a USB-C model I used with my MacBook and this one for gaming. This has a great picture, does a decent but not great job at HDR. Compared to what else is out there in this class it really is the best out there in its class. Couple of complaints though. LG could provide more than 1 DisplayPort for people with multiple systems. Try finding a switch that supports 144hz. This monitor started shipping the same time they started shipping TV’s with HDMI 2.1 so it’s not an unreasonable ask. If you can’t do that at least USB-C or TB3. Something to add a second high speed port option. Even the brand new 4K 27” UltraGear suffers from the same anemic port offerings.

This is my second of these monitors, One for each gaming machine. They are absolutely amazing! The picture quality is fantastic, it is FAST, smooth, g-sync native. Overall, it is a dream monitor. The HDR 400 is more or less worthless, but I knew that going in, I wanted something that was g-sync, fast (120Hz+), with wide color gamut, IPS, and as large as possible. This monitor checks every box and does so very well. No, it is not going to win awards, it in not perfect, but comparing apples to apples, with the technologies available and direct competition, I dont think there is a better choice. Now if I could just get LG to make this monitor, but 43" at 16:10, that would be my dream machine.

I bought this as an exchange for an older monitor I bought GSP with and I was not disappointed. I went from a 49in 1080p ultrawide to 39in 1440p and I absolutely love it. It's been a month with daily use and I haven't had a single problem with it. The one thing is I did buy this monitor on sale for like $850 (idk how), but seeing the actual price, I would've definitely not bought it for the regular price. If you see it on sale, buy it!

The monitor is very nice. I love the size. The two things i dislike are the whites look pink to me. Ive tried everything to change this but not much luck. More pink on the bottom left side of monitor. The other is the price. Is it worth $1600. Not really. Mine came with a small scratch on bottom screen. Not real noticeable but still a scratch. Other than that looked new.

I had some really high hopes for this monitor and most of them were fulfilled. However it’s not the epic upgrade I expected coming from a 34” ultra wide. If you don’t have an ultra wide monitor however, this is far and away the best one available. 38” is a great size and probably ideal for most (honesty I think 40” would be the sweet spot for me personally). Black light bleed is noticeable and black levels are just okay, so I wish we somehow were matching OLED blacks by this point, but a relatively small complaint. It is very fast and smooth for an IPS but definitely not 1ms. 5ms is the more realistic response time without introducing ghosting. It over locks to 175hz but only with CA, but at 160hz it’s perfect. Overall I’m happy and it’s an incredible monitor, though I wish it had just a touch more tech.

One of the best ultrawide gaming monitors on Earth

One of the best, cutting edge ultrawide gaming monitors with G-Sync, a tall and wide crisp picture, an easy to use menu, beautiful RGB LED ring for various lighting configurations for additional immersion, and overclocking to 175Hz. This monitor is also extremely colorful and bright (compared to the 34" ultrawide I upgraded from). Price is ridiculous, but if you want the best, you pay a premium for premium gear. No regrets purchasing this. One odd issue is if "Deep Sleep" is set to "On", when the monitor comes out of Sleep mode, the Refresh rate tends to randomly drop from 175. On one occaison, it dropped to 100Hz, on another, 160Hz. - The workaround is to disable "Deep Sleep", and I've had no issues since. Amazing for work, and Amazing for play. This is a professional's monitor, and a serious enthusiast and gamer's monitor, all wrapped in one.

I have watched this monitor for 2 years and already knew it was the best 38" wide screen gaming monitor you could get. Its quite pricey but hopefully will last me for 10+ years. Some highlights are native 144hz (up to 175hz with lower res use), a nice LED on the back (controllable by LG software or the OSD). Paired with m y 3080TI its able to do most games at 144Hz with no issue. The colors and resolution are very nice and above anything under 4k. LG makes amazing panels, and Best Buy is my go to after scoring the 3080TI for MSRP. I am going to try to buy all electronics from them moving forward if they ca continue to support the PC community by not ripping folks off on the chip shortage

I recently bought this monitor to switch from a 27” 1440p. I knew the ultrawide experience was going to be better but.... I had no idea how much better. The brightness is amazing, it’s hdr compatible, the screen takes up almost your whole field of view while gaming, and as the icing on the cake, it uses sphere lighting to give ambient light behind your monitor. The only downsides are the price, the “faster” response time (don’t use this - makes everything a blurry mess) and the hdr, while present, is not the best I’ve seen on a monitor. Overall though, I am inclined to say that for a gaming monitor, this truly is the best of the best if you’re willing to pay the premium.

My first one arrived with a large crack in it but best buy exchanged it for me without a problem. I have a 1080ti and i cant play COD over 80fps with everything set to low but that isnt the monitors fault. Pros very nice picture Huge Cons Settings will revert to the preset you had on. Cost The software can do a cool thing where it makes the leds on the back light up colors similar to whats on the screen the problem is you have to launch the software and apply this effect each time..

I don’t know where to begin. This monitor is just nothing but amazing! The picture quality is flawless and the it just feels and looks high end. I had to make some adjustments for certain games but once you play with some settings you’re in good shape. The price is a bit high but the quality will out weigh that. The internal fans are super quiet and you don’t feel any heat when you overclock the refresh rate. I would recommend this monitor to anyone that games, watches movies and loves spreadsheets.

Purchased this monitor back in April and have been using it on daily basis for both gaming and coding. My previous set up was 2 monitors side by side, but this totally replaced it. I have not had any issue with it running on high performance and the back led light audio sync makes for a great movie or mv background, and impressive when playing games. Its a bit pricy, so i wouldnt suggest purchasing this for a slight performance boost (g sync), but if money isnt the issue, then go for it!

This is an excellent monitor. The color is vibrant, the motion is extremely crisp, and it's just a bit taller than a standard-sized monitor. It fills my field of vision perfectly without being so wide or tall that I have to turn my head. Gaming is an amazing experience, and the extra screen realestate is greatly appreciated for work. Gsync works very well. It is natively detected and just works. It's plug and play as plug and play should be. The native support means there is an additional fan to cool the module, and it is slightly audible. It sounds like white noise. However, I can't hear it over speakers. For work applications with no sound, it was a bit annoying at first, but after about three weeks, I stopped noticing it. I previously bought a similar model from Amazon, shipped from and sold by them. I liked it better, and it was a bit less expensive. However, it didn't ship until the day after the expected delivery date, and it took twice as long as initially quoted after it did to arrive. It arrived with two big holes in the box, missing documentation, and a badly cracked screen. Obviously not even refurbished. I sent it back immediately, but it took Amazon over a month to refund me, and they accused me of causing the damage. I tried to post a review, and they rejected it. Makes me wonder about the legitimacy of the 4-star average. The Amazon experience isn't new, and it's been happening to me there with increasing frequency, especially over Christmas. I don't really trust them as much anymore, and I've been shopping here more often as a result. My experience here with this monitor was very different. It arrived in the promised condition within the promised timeframe. For other items I've had a problem with, Best Buy has been very helpful, and we've gotten it resolved. Shopping experience is an important part of buying anything, especially something expensive like this. And where Amazon has failed me time and time again, Best Buy continues to impress.

While this is an amazing display, it has an infuriating defect issue with HDMI. You will possibly see flicker and signal blackout as I did. Searching online I saw some threads relating to pulling the power, temporarily fixing problem but it will continue. No vendor patch or repair offered yet, so I returned as consoles were unplayable, as was office laptop. DisplayPort was flawless if that your only use-case. But for nearly $2000? Unacceptable. I returned this and bought an ROG Strix XG49VQ for $900. Less LED for no reason, larger display and working as intended - vendor-flaw free. LG also had very minimal on-device control options. ROG blasts features out of the park.

This panel is unreal. In terms of a 144hz (and higher) capable ultrawide at 1440p, this monitor is a beautiful, uncompromising beast... Once you get a good panel without defects. Here's the rub. As I'm writing this, I will be returning my 2nd exchange of this monitor due to dead pixels. Just one dead pixel both times, but for the price you're paying, you better use Best Buy's return policy to ensure you get a solid panel.

I ended up with monitor when the one i wanted originally was sold out. It was on sale so i said i give it a try and boy am i glad i did. I freaked out when the lights on the back started up. Awsome bonus! Images are crisp. The menu is a breeze to navigate. I love it. Unfortunately my unit was faulty and i had to return it for another unit. Its a joy to work on and fun and cool looking with its red accents. My only gripe is its thickness and of course the flickering image issue i ran into. I cant wait for my replacement unit to get here. This monitor is fantastic
