Customers regard the UltraGear 38" IPS LED UltraWide monitor's large screen size and high refresh rate as significant strengths, praising the picture quality, color accuracy, and immersive gaming experience. However, some users find the HDR performance underwhelming and the price point high. While some noticed fan noise, the overall consensus points to a high-quality monitor with some trade-offs.

I was really hesitant to actually purchase this monitor, but I am glad that I did. It was a little rough getting used to the way more accurate color range on the monitor and going from a 4K monitor at 160 ppi (pixel per inch) to a 2k monitor at 110 ppi. It took about 2 months for me to completely get used to the reduction in resolution. I was debating taking the monitor back before the return period was up, so I decided to hook up my old monitor and realized I could never go back to my old monitor. The old monitor looked completely washed out and the colors looked so sad. I have tried a 34” ultra wide monitor before that I returned because the height made it look funky, but this 38”s height is perfect and doesn’t make the screen look short. I would highly recommend this monitor.

Would love to give this monitor 5 stars since the display is just wonderful for everything from A/V editing to gaming. However, the fan in the back has a very annoying whine that became "burned" into my ears after hearing it nonstop all day working from home. Maybe I just got a bad unit.
Instead, my recommendation would be the Alienware 38 which uses the same exact panel and costs a couple hundred less, with no audible fan noise. Plus, that one comes with a three year warranty for free and excellent customer support compared to LG.

This is a very good monitor. Right out of the box the colors looked bright and accurate in Photoshop. Games run and look outstanding as well. HDR ran well and the back led light functioned well in "match video mode". Perfect monitor for work and games. It's not cheap, but worth the long term investment.

this was a hefty price tag - but after using, its never going back. coming from a DELL 3415w - i am using that as a second monitor and this as primary.
the difference is quite amazing: super clear, larger, motion is perfect in FPS games, picture is superb - i would say this is worth what i paid.
very happy and would recommend.

Hands down the best ultra wide monitor out there. Definitely worth every penny. I have owned this monitor for almost 3 years now with almost 7,000 hours and not a single dead pixel. Still works flawlessly. The isp panel is my biggest reason for choosing this model. I was tired of the ghosting that happens with VA panels and bit the bullet. To this day, I am so happy I did. The LED display is so bright and the colors look perfect. If youre willing to spend almost $2k after taxes on a monitor, do it.

Excellent monitor! Highly recommend for gaming. I have it running with 4090. I grabbed it on sale here when it was 999, which was absolutely a steal deal.

Although my review will say that I had just recently purchased this monitor, I bought it back in December of 2020. Just recently I had a red/green line appear down the right-hand side of the monitor. Luckily, I had Geek Squad Protection and they were able to see the line and instantly ship me a replacement with no further actions taken. Probably one of the best experiences I've had with getting anything replaced.
As far as the monitor itself, I came from 2 x 1080p monitors and this thing is just blowing me away. My only regret is not hopping on a 2000 series graphics card to really run this monitor to it's full potential. I will never without an ultra-wide monitor. Response time is fantastic, colors are great and it really just enhances the experience not just for gaming but for overall productivity.

I love the size and that's about it, at least for the price I paid.
I get flickering (144hz, 8bpc, RGB) even after uninstalling and reinstalling Nvidia drivers. The HDR is blah, not really impressive but let's be honest, it's bare minimum HDR.
IMO, a good $1,200.00 monitor.

Awesome monitor, absolutely love it. Although it’s a bit expensive, I feel like it was worth every penny. I normally wouldn’t have gone for something so expensive, but I wanted to treat myself, and no regrets months later.

Stupid expensive... but... it is really great. It could be a bit better on the color for design and production. But as far as gaming goes if you have the power it's worth it. The perfect size for immersion.

I am not using it for gaming, I am a SW engineer and love the real state.
The only complaint I have is when my Dell aptop wakes from a sleeps, the monitor is not recognized, and I have to power on/off the monitor to get it working.

Great Monitor - Less Eye Fatigue

One big improvement (besides the lack of ghosting) that I found on this monitor when I switched from a Dell U3818DW was how much my eyes felt less fatigued after a long gaming session.
I was happy that the backlight went off when the monitor enters sleep mode since this is positioned in my bedroom and it had no other obtrusive LED lights that stayed on.
Setup was easy and the software was simple to adjust settings with.
The only thing I miss from my Dell U3818DW is the built-in speakers. It does come in handy when you want to watch or share video content without headphones.

This is overall a great panel for viewing and gaming but I'm returning it due to the fan (yes fan) inside the monitor. It makes a high pitched whine and seems to run all the time. I'll try another new unit and see if this is hopefully just a defective one. For the price this is inexcusable when it comes to quality control.

I very much wanted to love this monitor. I have a 27" 165mhz monitor and was looking to upgrade to ultra widescreen. First, the monitor does look nice, colors and picture were great. However, the fan noise was very loud. If you are sitting in a quiet room, it has the capability to drive you nuts. Search Youtube for what it sounds like. I read where some heard it and some did not. I also read where others were able to take apart the monitor and replace the fan with a higher quality one but that would void any warranty.
Bottom line is LG cheeped out with low quality fans. When you are going to charge that much for a monitor, use high quality components including cooling.
Returned to Best Buy, my number one place to shop for electronics!!
