For the past week, I've been testing the LG UltraGear 39" OLED Curved WQHD 240Hz 0.03ms FreeSync and NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible Gaming Monitor with HDR10.
On my desk it is replacing two 27 inch gaming monitors that I used for both gaming and productivity. I have it connected to a gaming computer with an RTX4060TI graphics card via the included Displayport cable. This allows for the full 240HZ refresh rate.
The first thing I will mention is that this monitor is large and has plenty of adjustability. With the stand at its tallest setting it sits 24 inches tall and at its lowest setting it is 19 inches tall. From left to right (without the curvature being factored in) it is 35 inches across. When the stand is placed against the wall the sides protrude 12 inches away from the wall. As for adjustability, the stand only holds the monitor in a landscape position and does not allow for a portrait viewing. However, it does allow for a five inch height change, a significant amount of tilt, and leveling of about half an inch.
Next it eliminates many drawbacks of a two monitor set-up. With one OLED panel I didn't have to worry about panel color differences, or awkward center bezels. Screen positioning is more ergonomic because my workspace is centered in front of me and I only needed one power brick and one HDMI or Displayport cable. This makes cable and power management simpler.
As for performance, the 240 HZ OLED display and 800R curve produce the most immersive and smoothest picture I have ever seen on a computer. I could not see any pixels, or bug screen effects. Backlighting was nothing short of perfection, and the brightness was fantastic. Colors were very vivid and bright. Black and dark colors were very deep and contrast was excellent. While gaming, in fast-paced games like first-person shooters and sports titles, the experience felt more natural. I was able to focus on my field of play without leaving my peripheral vision out in the cold. On high settings and G-sync it consistently stayed at 240 FPS and I didn't experience any tearing, stuttering or lag. While using this monitor for productivity tasks, I appreciated keeping my main window centered while having other applications open in my peripheral vision.
The only drawback to this monitor is that there are no built in speakers, and inserting HDMIs and Displayport cables were a little difficult.
With all that said I highly recommend this monitor.

I purchased an open box described as “Excellent” condition. The packaged was rough to say the least(Two different boxes taped together). The monitor was packaged poorly and not its original package. Returning was easy enough and did receive my money back.

I bought the “excellent” refurbished 39 inch oled monitor and it looked used. It was cracked down the middle and had fingerprints all over it. I had to spend my time fixing an issue I shouldn’t have for a 1000 dollar monitor. I don’t recommend buying used.
However I bought a brand new one and was fine. Do recommend a new monitor don’t recommend used.

We purchased an LG 77" OLED smart TV early last year and have been very happy with it. So when looking for a computer monitor for my new PC (home built). I researched monitors online, read the reviews and decided the LG was the way to go. I suffer from macular degeneration so I wanted something magnitudes clearer than my old Dell 21" HD monitors. I was initially concerned that it was rated as a UHD rather than a 4k monitor but was assured that if it didn't work for me, I could return it no questions asked. I can read 8 point typefaces on the LG whereas I couldn't make out anything below 10 or 11 points on my old Dells, and that was using bifocals with me nose about 6" from the monitor. The picture on the LG monitor is sharp and crisp, the colors are much better and the refresh rate is killer good.
I would recommend this monitor to anyone looking for a Lexus rather than a Toyota-quality unit. I have yet to feel any sense of it lagging on anything and while I haven't had a chance to play many games on it yet, what games I have played have been exceptionally clear and vibrant and again, no lag time. I'll lose my central vision from the macular degenration eventually, but I have no intention of letting this baby go until I do.

They me first start by saying I had two 27” monitors a 4k 144hz full array local dimming monitor and a 1440p 175hz monitor I am upgrading from. I will start by saying wow just wow. This thing just makes me wanna game. Going from two monitors to one big monitor is life changing. This monitor checks all of my boxes. Ultrawide, OLED, 1440p, and 240hz. I will start will talking about the ultrawide. It is very curved 800R for a 39” screen it’s quite steep but not too crazy for me. This curve helps a lot with immersion, and man playing FPS, RPG, and Racing Sims this thing is great with the immersion. The OLED makes this screen soo fast and the blacks look great. That being said the only real draw back is Peak brightness. My 4K blows it out of the water in terms of brightness. But that doesn’t bother me personally it gets bright enough for the games I play. The 1440P 240hz looks great. The PPI is decent at this size of screen. Jumping to 240 from 175 just adds that extra edge and smoothness that just makes this thing perfect for me. If you are looking for a gaming monitor to upgrade to this is it. It has everything you want and it will make you wanna game even more than you already do.

Immersive high quality curved OLED gaming monitor

The LG UltraGear 39" OLED WQHD curved monitor is a game changer for gamers, even more so for those who have tight spaces or L-shaped desks. Prior to this monitor I was running two 32" monitors set up with a ~40 degree angle to accommodate for the long, narrow alcove where I have my gaming setup. While the overall size of the monitor is smaller than two monito combination, the 39" curve allows more flexibility in placement and makes the gaming experience much more immersive than having the two monitors with the split.
In the box is the monitor, stand, power cord, USB-A to USB-B, HDMI, and DP cables. The monitor comes well packaged, and setup is simple, attach the monitor backplate to the stand base, then clip the monitor onto the backplate, and takes less than 5 minutes to fully unbox. As for ports, the monitor is well equipped with 2 x HDMI 2.1, DP 1.4, USB-C, 2 x USB 3.0, headphone jack, and power. Cord management is as expected, the base is sturdy with an overall weight of 23 lbs for monitor and base combined. The monitor has 5" of vertical travel (3.5" from desk to bottom of monitor up to 8.5"), and swivels up / down (-10/+15 deg) and left / right (+/- 10 deg) for the perfect angle. The lines on the LG UltraGear monitor are sleek, and look fantastic with both my desktop and laptop gaming setups. One minor drawback is that the monitor backlighting isn't compatible with any of my RGB gaming profile software, so there is limited customizability in colors and patterns.
The LG UltraGear monitor boasts a VESA DisplayHDR 400 rating, 240 Hz refresh rate, WQHD (3440 x 1440) resolution, 275 nits, 0.03ms response time combined with G-Sync compatibility (if your hardware can drive it) and AMD FreeSync. For testing I'm pairing this monitor with a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 GPU enabling me to see the full benefits of the G-Sync compatibility. The monitor has an anti-glare coating for viewing in brightly lit rooms, which also enhances the true black feel. Playing games like Doom and Fortnite the visuals are vibrant, blacks are true, and I have seen zero latency, tearing, or stutter.
A few other considerations:
OLED burn in doesn't seem to be a significant concern with this monitor due to idle auto off feature and a 2 year warranty that covers the display panel.
There is a 4-pole headphone jack supporting DTS X4. This is touted as 3D audio and allows a stereo headphone and mono microphone signal. I can't speak to this feature due to using a cordless headset.
There is a picture in picture / picture by picture setup option. I tested this briefly with dual inputs and found that it's a neat feature so I could view two system inputs simultaneously. This may be a game changer for some.
Center-display crosshairs, 4 options, providers improved shooting accuracy during gaming.
Overall this is absolutely a fantastic monitor for gaming in the 1440p high definition range and the response time is blazing fast, giving an instantaneous feel to the game response. The colors feel true and the black is bold giving superior contrast. I honestly think this is a step up from two monitors due to the seamlessness of the curved display, I now see nuances that I had missed with my 1080p monitors. The only call out I have is that I'm not sure if I'll use this monitor much for work or streaming, unless full aspect ratio is supported, it's a bit awkward for long viewing sessions. Ultimately, hands down, this is my preferred monitor for all gaming activities.

This a beautiful OLED monitor with a super immersive gaming experience from the 800R curvature.
PROS
- 240Hz Fast Refresh Rate
- GSYNC worked great
- New L Shaped Stand takes up way less space
- Matte Coating helps keep reflections out of sight
- Big screen
CONS
- Low 3440 x 1440 Resolution (~95 Pixels Per Inch)
- Matte Coating has a slight "hazy" texture
- No USB-C DisplayPort
I think this monitor is top tier for gaming and you won't be disappointed if this is your first time switching to an OLED monitor.

I’ve had flat monitors until I saw this on display in the store on sale. Took a chance on it since it was pricy. Best chance I’ve taken! This monitor provides a whole experience for gaming. The curve really makes games immersive. Picture is beyond clear and extremely sharp. Colors really pop. 240hz is so so smooth. I wouldn’t have thought .03ms would make much of a difference from 1ms, but I can absolutely tell, and it’s fantastic! If you have the money to drop on a monitor, I would highly recommend!!

I love the monitor! Beautiful colors and amazing refresh rate at 240hz. Probably the best looking monitor I’ve ever owned. The only thing is that text can be very difficult to read at times so you might have to change the sizing of the fonts and increase the magnification so the text is not as difficult to read. Other than that, it’s a beautiful monitor great for games and the other thing that I like about it is that it turns off by itself and cleans the pixels so that we don’t get any dead pixels so I thought that was really nice.

I am using my monitor more for productive use over gaming, the Ultra-Wide Monitors are helpful in having multiple windows open, however, I am big on leveraging the best technology, visual clarity, and performance. I tested (2) 240Hz monitors and this LG 39 inch 240Hz. I started with the LG Ultra Gear 45" OLED, the 45GS96QB model with the higher brightness of 275 candela at home, I immediately disliked it from the texted PPI was terrible, and the Screen looked obnoxiously too big on my desk, aside the performance was excellent for gaming. Next, I tried the best 4K OLED out there, the Alienware AW3225QF 31.6. Now this looked gorgeous with its bright glossy look, excellent text PPI, performance equal to LG, and was true 4K, as I am not a fan of 1440P. I do notice Windows will recommend this 4K monitor to view Scale at 150%. At 150% it’s like a 1440P, but I understand I can scale it down to 100%. Now this screen is beautiful, but 31.9 inches of real estate was bothersome, as I just had a 27-inch 4K and it just seems a tad bigger, no major difference. I purchased this model 39GS95QE-B.AUS connected it to my NVIDIA card with the AW3225QF, enough power to run both at 240Hz at the same time, compared both together and the LG looked the same. The 39-inch model helps significantly with the PPI and its brightness and dark colors matched. The Alienware overall has a slight edge considering its 4K at 16-9, but the LG 39-inch 21-9 size is rewarding. Now the Alienware at recommended Scale 150% to the LG Scale 100% they looked the same. Based on my observations, I had one too big and one too small, and the LG 39 inch was perfect. All 3 are great for Gaming, the LG 39 is helpful for productivity at 21-9. If in doubt, ask a Best Buy rep to show you the Windows Desktop of the monitor before purchase, because the locked in Gaming Demo is not helpful to see the productivity side. Overall, you can’t go wrong with 39GS95QE-B.AUS especially if you buy on sale for $899 or $999.

Combined with a good color representation and an extremely high refresh rate, this monitor is excellent for systems that want an immersive experience when playing games... as long as you have a system that can keep up with the resolution and refresh rate.
I would love to give it 5 stars, but it does lack in 3 areas; productivity, burn-in, and a high price.
1. Although LG has done an awesome job with the self-cleaning system to remove the chance of burn-in, the OLED tech itself just means that extra care must be taken when using this screen to make sure you don't end up with ghosting images.
2. The extreme curve of the screen means that 3D modeling, imaging, video editing and other similar projects can have issues with straight lines and the like due to the curved screen. This can be mitigated with the use of guidelines, and measurement tools in the different software, but the curve still plays tricks on your eyes.
3. This is a very expensive monitor and although it is still cheaper than an Apple, the overall cost seems a bit high at the time of purchase.
I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this monitor to anyone who wants an amazing gaming experience, high refresh rate, and HDR colors with a true black and large spread of color representation. Everything from Helldivers II, to Star Citizen looks absolutely gorgeous on this screen!

I love this screen, its expensive, but the colors are vibrant, refresh is good, and its madsive size is great for gaming and coding, a le to split the screen and research while coding. A second one would be even better! OLED has potential for really vibrant colors, and may not be for everyone, but i love how sharp, bright, and crisp the image is.

Gaming is my main purpose with this monitor, and I couldn’t be any happier. I use an older ultrawide as my secondary monitor and notice a significant difference in picture quality when comparing side by side. My room gets very bright and I appreciate the anti glare. I was afraid that being qhd at this size will be a down side, but the worry went away as soon as I started using it. I don’t think I’ll buy this for productivity as the curve is pretty significant and text reading isn’t the greatest. You may feel like wanting more resolution as well. It didn’t stop me from buying as all I do with this monitor is gaming and use other monitors for everything else.

Jaw dropping display. The 39" hits a nice sweet spot between enveloping your field of vision and maintaining impressive enough pixel density at 3440x1440. I felt the 45" was a bridge too far in both departments.
After some minor calibrating/dialing in, I'm blown away by the OLED display. Much like their flagship G series OLED TVs, sometimes you just have to sit back and soak up the fidelity, contrast and some of the deepest, darkest blacks I've ever seen from a monitor.
All the refresh rate you could ask for, assuming you have a performative enough system/GPU to take advantage of it. HDR and G-sync are effortless.
Works great for productivity, media and gaming. Text will not be as crisp as you would see on a standard 16:9 4K display, but it's not nearly the deal breaker some folks make it out to be. I've found no annoyance in working through emails and other productivity related stuff on the monitor.
Setup is a breeze, stand/mounting is about as simple and easy as you could ask for. There are a few apps to download from LG to calibrate and control monitor options, all are lightweight on the resource side and work well.
Sometimes you get what you pay for, sometimes you do not. In the ultragear's case you most certainly get a strong return on the investment.

I got this as a surprise for my husband for Christmas. Snagged it on cyber Monday for a great price. So far it has been amazing and my husband is loving it. Had to rotate through his gaming library to see how it worked with all his games and was awed. The one issue we had was lines across the screen when we first set it up, but the OLED clean fixed them right away. I would highly recommend this monitor to anyone.

The monitor is fast, vibrant, bright and immersive. But that immersion comes at the cost of such an aggressive curve that for productivity to me it’s not ideal. Yes you can get used to it but things that should be flat are curved it’s really annoying to me. I honestly wish they went with a 1800r curve not sure what’s up with the 800r or 1000r agressive curve trend so weird to me. Anyway it’s the only 39in oled 240hz monitor so I get its appeal. If you can get it for under 1000 and don’t mind the overly aggressive curve and you know you really won’t mind the curve I’d say get it. The matte screen didn’t bother me so much as the text clarity. The resolution also isn’t ideal for text due to the lower pixel density. Not sure why the resolution isn’t 5120 by 2160 and maybe a lower refresh i don’t know what the people who make these decisions for monitors think about honestly. But it’s available and it’s an option for some.
+immersive size for ultra wide for sure
+deep blacks
+ nice and bright
-curve is too curved
-low resolution for size text looks bad
All in all if you like curved displays and want an ultra wide at this size and refresh rate FOR GAMING ONLY-then pick this one up especially when it’s on sale. Otherwise if youre using it on your one computer for mix of games and work stuff-hard pass

The colors are great, the blacks and inky, and the 800R curve is awesome! It is truly an immersive experience playing on this monitor. I do wish they paired it with a remote and a USB-C. Other than that, this monitor is brilliant. So far, I have not experienced any connection, flickering, or burn-in issues. The monitor has certain modes for image cleaning and burn-in protection, so I recommend users to enable those from the get-go.
