I was looking for a portable speaker for my wife so she could listen to her music on the patio or deck without having to carry my boom box speaker and this was perfect... not as punchy for my taste but good enough for her. The battery life on it is pretty good she can listen to music for at least 8 hrs. straight before needing to charge it again, it's also light weight and has perfect carrying handles.

Eagerly looked forward in receiving this complimentary LG PK7 Portable Bluetooth Speaker w/ Meridian Audio & Dual Tweeters. I was anxious to hear the sound quality streamed through the aptX HD chipset on this wireless, portable speaker. Earlier I had read about this audio technology, aptX HD, which is a compression codec. It brings 24 bit high resolution audio to wireless music. AptX HD has gained much popularity and is being installed in most new devices because it allows CD quality sound to be transmitted over Bluetooth. WooHoo! However, you must have a phone or portable device, which has the aptX HD chipset installed to take advantage of this superior sound. Check the specs on the model of your phone. There are many phones and other devices out there that support aptX HD. If aptX HD is not installed in your phone - you won't be able to experience the higher resolution sound because there is no software upgrade option without the chipset. At present only Android devices, which use Oreo (8.0 or 8.1) OS system, support aptX HD. IOS phones do not support aptX HD, they use ACC as their optional BT codec. This LG PK7 speaker is also ACC enabled, too. Controversially, many audiophiles and knowledgeable reviewers claim there is not any appreciable difference between the two. I am not any kind of expert on this controversy. However, my ears lead me to believe the aptX HD is the higher resolution sound streaming codec. For almost three weeks now we have been enjoying this wireless LG PK7 portable speaker both indoors and outdoors too. When our Grand Kids come over to visit this speaker gets a 'workout'. Thankfully, it has a generous battery capacity (up up 22 hours). Even with the party-lights pulsating we only have to charge this speaker every other day. My wife and I use the multi-phone pairing feature of this LG PK7 speaker. When I am outside with the kids I use my I-Phone to stream Kids' music through Pandora. My wife has a new Samsung S9+, which has the aptX HD codec. When we are indoors after the Kids are gone, she streams 'Easy Listening' music through her phone and the difference between hers and mine is noticeably, pronounced. I consider myself to be an audiophile dating way back from the late 50's. I began building stereophonic sets for family and friends in the 50's – learned to love, the quality reproduction, amplification, and delivery of outstanding music using the latest technology and the best, top-quality components available. Still love it. Plugged this LG PK7 in my amp-receiver with a 3.5 mm jack to see if I could further enhance the sound quality over the four EQ presets featured in this speaker. WoW! With 18 frequency bands in my EQ I wound up 'cutting' just the highs the first time, so the mix appeared to have more low end. For bass-lovers this is more pleasing to the ear then increasing the energy in the lower frequencies ranges. . . I could go on and on, but the point is that the quality-built Dual Passive Radiators and Dual Tweeters lend themselves for various frequency band adjustments so that you can clearly discern between guitars, keyboards, kick-drum and vocals. The Meridian Audio tech enhances the use of this portable speakers for outdoor use – just what the Grand Kids like. It broadens the vertical and horizontal sound delivery, with the appropriate volume, which is ideal for outdoor environments. Around the patio, pool, or over 50 feet from the swings the reverberating bass coupled with the clear voice enhancements produces crisp, expanded audio, which targets the mid-ranges. Speaking of use near the pool – this LG PK7 is IPX5 weather and splash resistant from all angles. Here are the Features I love: * LG PK7 is Solidly Built – It is ideal for teenagers, younger family members and, or friends to 'party' in outdoor environments, wet, or dry (IPX5 weather rated). * Long Life Battery – Up to 22 hours of use (without the lights). I get about 10 hours of continuous use with the lights enabled. * Amazing Sound – Using any combination of the four EQ presets coupled with the Meridian Audio Technology delivers impressive bass and clarity. Great separation and depth. For most musical genres this speaker delivers outstanding mid-range quality. * Simple Controls – Even Grandpa, Grandma, and the Grand Kids can operate this speaker. * Completely Hands-Free Function – You can enable Siri or your Google Assistant through 'Voice Command' to your smart phone and make or receive calls, effortlessly. * 3.5mm Input Jack – I can plug this speaker into my amp-receiver for enhanced EQ frequency band adjustments from other devices and convert this speaker into a sound bar for my bedroom TV, DVD/CD movie sounds and, or music, or, my LP, vinyl record collection. * Multi-Phone Pairing – My wife and I have paired both of our smart phones to this speaker. I use mine for the Kids outdoors – she uses hers to take advantage of aptX HD high-resolution, wireless, audio streaming while working in the kitchen and mood-music for our 'Happy Hour' - Simply fantastic. * Easy Cleaning – With Grand Kids using this speaker constantly it gets its share of sticky-hands, soiled hands, and spills. So, with just a dampened cloth and mild detergent – it cleans up easily. Do NOT Like: * Proprietary Charger – Wish it could have been USB 'C', and, or phone charger adaptable. * Music Flow Bluetooth App – It is only operable for Android devices and phones. Should be upgraded to IOS devices, so they can customize the LED lighting effects also. Doesn't make a lot of sense since the LED lights work with or without the music pulsating them . . . App could use lots of improvements. Summary: I love the various features of this LG PK7 Wireless, Portable Speaker. The streaming sound is awesome for a speaker this size and price-point, especially, when you are able to utilize aptX HD from your device. I highly recommend this LG PK7 Portable Bluetooth Speaker w/ Meridian Audio & Dual Tweeters. My Grand Kids love it, and, Grandma loves to play it in her kitchen while preparing gastronomical feasts. How cool is that? This speaker would make a great gift for a teenager, family member or friend, who is 'active' outdoors, and, or appreciates distinctive sound quality over many music genres.

Portable speaker focused on sound quality

Sound quality and image is very good for a portable speaker. It can generate a respectable amount of bass without distortion. Vocals are clear, but a little quiet (may need a equalizer adjustment). Build quality is good, but the unit does have some heft to it (the built in handle really helps and it made the unit easy to carry). I do have an issue with the clumsy execution of the charger and cord. Many newer portable speakers use a USB cable and charger, but this one uses an old styles power brick. The battery does last through a whole night of play, but if you need the power brick it becomes a lot more of a pain to carry. I recommend keeping a twist tie or rubber band to manage the cord. The speaker looks nice and has nice touches including synchronized lights. You can shut off the lights on the front, but my kids loved them. They mostly keep pace with the music, but they aren't always spot on with the beat. This is a good speaker that is bigger than some competitors, sacrificing a little portability for sound quality.

    Great sound but missing volume

Let me start off by saying I went back and fourth on this rating but at the end of the day I couldn't justify giving it a five star rating based on one major factor, the max volume. The PK7 is LG's largest out of the PK series which also feature the PK3 and PK5. This speaker has all the bells and whistles that the lesser speakers feature and more including the adjustable EQ settings "Clear Voice" and "Enhanced Bass" tuned by Meridian Technology. In the box comes the speaker, the charging cable, and manual/setup guide. One thing to note is the PK7 is not USB chargeable like the other speakers in this series as it is more powerful and has a much larger battery. This should be taken into consideration because although it has an advertised 22 hour battery life this speaker is likely going to be in the top 40% of its volume the entire time you are using it. Another thing to note is the speakers weight which comes in around 7 pounds but it has large grab handles which make it easy to move around. After charging, the speaker pairing was very straight forward and simple and it connected with my LG G6 using the aptX HD Audio which is supposedly a higher quality sound streaming method. Now I couldn't tell a huge difference day to day there was a very small difference at higher volumes. Now onto the most important aspect (and the deciding factor on my rating) which is the sound. The sound quality itself is amazing with good low end bass and very good highs especially using the "Clear Voice" and "Enhanced Bass" functions which I left both on for the majority of my listening. When comparing this speaker to other speakers I have in the same $200 price range I found the LG to have advantages and disadvantages just like any product but its main disappointment was the max volume. The main speaker I used to compare this product to was the Addon Pro T3 and I have to say that speaker has the PK7 beat by a good 20%-30% total volume. Neither speaker has much distortion at all at max volume which is incredible considering their sizes. The PK7 boasts two active woofers and two tweeters with a passive radiators on each end. Rated at 40w this system has a lot of power in a small package but somehow the T3 has the same (or slightly better) sound qualities in a smaller, less powerful package. The PK7 is not a slouch at all but it is missing some volume up top and this is the main reason that I could not justify a five star rating. I have tested the PK7 in a large shop environment that I would say is around 3,000 square feet in size and the speaker did surprisingly well... However was played at max volume the entire time and would fairly often be drowned out by other noises. It did hold its own for its size I have to admit. Pros: - Battery Life - Lights (Unnecessary but neat) - Sound Quality - IPX5 Rated - Design Cons: - Max Volume I would still highly recommend checking out the PK7 as it is a very great speaker and one of the best I have used but it is missing that max volume to match the size of the unit itself. LG make this change happen and you have an amazing product on your hands!

Nice Little Speaker With One Minor Issue

I just received the LG PK7 from Fed Ex. The box was a little heavier than I expected, but with speakers, that's generally a good thing. On opening the box, the speaker was well packaged yet easily accessible. In the box, in addition to the speaker, was a small box underneath that had the charging chord and the usual obligatory warning and set up sheet. In all, the unit had the typical quality we have come to expect from LG consumer grade equipment. This did not disappoint. OK, here is where the one minor issue comes... As I stated above, it came with a charging cable, not the usual USB I have come to expect with all of my other wireless products. The problem (and yes, I get it, it IS a minor issue) is that if you are traveling, this is yet another cable you need to pack instead of using the almost universal USB chord that you use to charge your phone, earpiece, headphones et al. Is it a deal breaker? No, not even close, just a minor inconvenience. The speaker is now removed and plugged in, I let it fully charge. Only took an hour to get the battery charged. Powered the unit up and it came right up and was automatically in pairing mode. It paired immediately and I was off and running. I tested it with "5 Finger Death Punch" "The Bleeding" and the sound was really good for a portable unit. Honestly, it was one of the best portable speakers I have heard for sound quality. The bass was impressive, the mids were clean and solidly separated from the equally clean highs. I am not a self described audiophile but as a father of 2 busy active kids who were splashing in the pool, the sound was great. And the kids splashing in the pool brings me to the next nice feather. The speaker is IPX5 weather resistant. Please remember, this does NOT equate to "water proof", but it is splash resistant. I was perfectly confident in setting it on the pool deck and had no worries the several times it got splashed. It took it like a trooper. Nice feature. The unit also comes with two features that are interesting but maybe just slightly more than a gimmick. One feature is a "Clear Vocal" button that probably adds a little something, but after toggling on and off a few times, I could tell a difference but not overly definable. The other feature is an :Enhanced Bass" button that I also tested. I could tell a little more defined difference between when it was on and off. In the end, I left them both on because, why not? As I was testing the music, my wife called and I took the call on this unit. The sound on my end was great. Very crisp and clear. At the end of call, I asked her how it sounded on her end. She said it was pretty good but I sounded a little bit "distant". Considering that I was about 6 feet from the speaker the entire conversation, that's honestly pretty impressive. I called her back when I was closer and she said it sounded great. Another "interesting" feature is the LED that beats and pulses with the music. To be honest, its kind of cool, but can get tiresome when just sitting there in front of you. That said, I think it could be a pretty fun feature in a party or social gathering environment. That said, my kids absolutely LOVED it, so I have to mention that in an effort to be fair in my review. The good news, there is a solution... Make sure you download the "Music Flow Bluetooth" ap. Using the ap, you can not only turn the LED on and off, but you can also adjust the pattern / color scheme so that's a nice inclusion. Again, the kids loved messing around with it so in all, a cool feature. One final feature it has is the "Dual Play" option that allows you to connect a second LG PK7 in order to play in true stereo. While I can't vouch for or comment on the efficacy of the feature, I did find it important to mention. End of the day, it's a really nice, large Bluetooth speaker that will work for the active family at the pool, beach, camping, fishing or other busy outdoor activities. Other than the power chord bummer, its a very good option. I would certainly recommend it to a friend Disclaimer: This product was provided free, or at reduced cost, for the purpose of reviewing the product. Nevertheless, the above review, be it positive, negative, or anywhere in-between, is a 100% honest review, and the price paid played absolutely no part in my review.

I have 4 sets of (higher end ~$250) Bluetooth speakers intended for travel and outdoor use. The toughest thing for a relatively small speaker to do is produce enough bass, that's still tight enough (not getting sloppy) to pair properly with decent highs. As soon as I got this speaker, unpacked and paired with my IPhone (incredibly easy), I selected my favorite test album (yea, I still listen to Albums Digitally), one I've been using for about 40 years of speaker auditions; Boston's first album...then on to DSOTM. I've auditioned many speakers using this combination, I know what I want to hear. First impression - Not breath taking, but darn impressive, the highs surprised me the most, nearly the openness that I get from other speakers with ribbon tweeters. I was not expecting the highs to be as precise as they were.. The midrange and voice (with clear vocal enabled) was "most excellent" and the base was pretty good (with enhanced base enabled). Still not going to punch you in the gut like my pair of 400W subwoofers, but for a 40W box with dual drives and 2 smaller passive radiators some real engineering was done by Meridian/LG. Compared to my other favorite portable speaker, which weighs just over 10lbs (vs 6lbs), which have dual 6" drivers (+passive) this LG box has tighter bass and far superior highs (airy). The other speakers had a muddy bass compared to these (both driven w/BT). To do a real side by test I took the output from my external USB DAC and split it to both speakers so I could compare side by side (A/B). Not surprisingly the DAC's output was much cleaner than the BT signal, it improved the muddyness of my other speaker substantially, but at the same time the it improved the mid and high end output from the LG-PK7, it dd not change the bass as much as it did with my other speaker. Both can easily fill a medium size room turned up 1/2 way. But after going back and forth I really liked the LG's openness and airy highs which made the Boston guitars sing (wish I could share Long Time closing) . Now on to PF, I use On the Run to help judge stereo separation, as things move across the sound stage, you can clearly hear and feel the ping ponging of sound, and the depth of the thunder, breaking into the Clocks of time, and it's tight drums - can you see me smiling? Well these speakers really sound great - a nice balance - given their restricted size. Quite a nice package. And the Girls on the Great Gig in the sky were superb, then on to CRISP Money, bass guitars at beginning were outstanding!! Can you tell I'm happy, only to be more impressed by Nick's Saxiphone solo... They claim when fully charged they will last 22 hrs. The speakers do have some neat flashing LED's (RGB) on the speaker cones and in two white bars over and under the speaker cones. I don't I'd say they really sync up to the music, but they are kind of cool. They lights can also be disabled and the mode of color operation changed) This speakers can also be used as a speaker phone, I got a call while I was listening, and the music stopped when I picked up the phone, and the speakers microphone picked up my voice loud and clear (really sounded good on the call). Another feature I did not try allows you to use 2 LG-PK# speakers together. You can also pair more than one BT device (phone) to the speakers at a time so that more than one of you can share their music (might be cool at a party). The longer I listened to DSOTM the better it sounded, and I've heard it 100's of times, I have say between Us and Them - if you consider these speakers vs the PK3 or PK5 get the bigger PK7's - you won't be disappointed.

I've been debating between 4 & 5 stars. This speaker is definitely high quality in construction as well as appearance. Once turned on it was connected to my iPhone in a snap. The color changing LED light show is very cool, especially for young kids. It sounds great turned up to max volume, BUT, the max volume leaves a little something to be desired. I was actually surprised when it wouldn't go any louder. Don't get me wrong, its definitely loud enough to fill a room, and be heard in the next room, I just expected a bit more, especially for its size. The only other negative I have experienced is with battery life... and that could be my fault. When I took it out of the box I wasn't planning on using it right away but my 7 year old asked to try it out. Once those LED lights came on that was it, we had to have a "dance party'. I noticed the battery light was flashing red so I plugged it in to charge while we kept listening to music. This went on for maybe an hour, and then it was bed time. Obviously it wasn't fully charged so I left it on the charger overnight. We went to use it again the next day, the charge only lasted maybe 5 hours before the battery light was flashing red again. Seeing as this is advertised as having a 22 hour battery life I was quite disappointed. I didn't take a star away because I am unsure if my actions of not letting it fully charge before use, and then leaving it on the charger overnight, may have affected the battery negatively. We shall see how it holds up. Either way it sounds & looks great, and will keep my 7yr old entertained in her room, (which isn't an easy task) so its a win in this house.

LG has upped the ante in the portable speaker field. The PK7 delivers crisp vocals and a solid bass, when using the clear vocal and enhanced bass it gives it an extra punch for your music, regardless of which genre you’re playing. Battery life is good for its size, the speaker has some weight which is likely due to its battery size. No App support for Apple yet, but I am told it’s in the works. OVERALL this is a solid speaker for the beach, tailgate or party and the LED lights enhance it at night.

Bought this for my garage and it doesn't disappoint. Went back and bought another for the patio. Great sound, charge lasts a long time, very solid with handles that protect from all angles. Connects with my Note 8, my wife's Note 9, my son's Galaxy Tab and my daughter's iPod on the spot. The colored lights on the speakers are super cool.

First of all I need to say, I'm not a big LG fan, This speaker has changed my mind. I really like the practical design, integrated caring handles which are also the stand for the speaker. It's nice to be able to get a solid grip on the speaker. You might think that's something that really doesn't matter but when you're carrying a bunch of beach gear and canopy stuff you're going to be thankful you have the handles. the PK7 also has subwoofers built in, not a big deal normally but the placement of the subwoofers matters. LG has placed them on the sides of the PK7 going deep bass while having the mid up front and directed towards the listener give it clear crisp treble. One more thing I really liked about this is the battery life. I took it to the beach and it practically lasted all day.

I was able to pick this item up on sale during the holidays.. its well worth the slae price money but I wouldnt recommend it at the normal price of $249.00... I bought it during the holidays for $90 and its well worth that. It has decent sound quality.. the kids love the lights that go to the beat and change colors. Its simple to set up to any device by blue tooth. Loud enough you will never have it at full volume. We used it during the family holiday gathering as well to play music in the background and even at low levels it has good rich sound

The lights are an awesome touch that really add to the atmosphere. Ive had this thing blasting for hours and haven't ever seen a low battery light. Everyome comments on how "cool" this speaker is. This speaker is worth the buy, it may be expensive but you will enjoy it. I use it every day for a couple hours, I don’t play the music loud since I don’t like to disturb others. After a weeks use I charge it up to full battery and use again without charge another week. The lights on the speaker change and flash according to the bass, or at least my experience. Sound quality is amazing the bass really hits well, doesn’t sound distorted and vocals are really clear. Really good speaker, big and can be very loud.

Came to buy another speaker and was blown away with the sound of this one... It was kinda expensive but it was on sale so I decided to get this one. Associates could not find the one remaining in their stock so I drove about 35 minutes to PA to get it... I was not disappointed... You should note speaker will give you full playing time if you turn the lights off and keep the volume to 50 % or less...

Got this free when I bought an LG OLED from Best Buy. LG was having some sort of promotion. That said, after using it over the last year, I would buy it! It is really really built well; I mean heavy and the quality is absolutely beautiful. Things just aren’t built like this is anymore. LG partnered with a high end English audio company called Meridian to produce the XBOOM and it sounds great! It has 2 front firing tweeters, 2 front firing midrange speakers and 2 on the sides for bass. It has lights that change colors, is of course Bluetooth and volume +/-, next song, lights on/off, clear vocal and enhanced bass buttons on top. The battery life is really really good; I play it for hours and hours and hours before needing to recharge it. If you are looking for a Bluetooth speaker that is really quality built and sounds great, look at the LG PK7.

In my opinion, I don’t really care for the looks of this speaker, it reminds me of Johnny Five from Short Circuit the movie but looks are subjective. The handle seems a bit weak for the weight of this speaker, and it does weigh more than it looks. The sound is decent, but I have smaller speakers from a different manufacturer that sound better to me. It has pretty good bass overall. In a small room it sounds pretty good, but take it in a larger room or outside and it seems to lack volume. You can link up two speakers together to increase the sound. The lighting effects are good and are enjoyable to watch and my kids really like that part. I was surprised by the power brick that is required to charge it and you can’t charge it via USB, nor does it have a USB out to charge devices on the go. Hopefully the next model will have the power supply built into the speaker, so you don’t have to carry that around as well to power it up. Speaking of power, it lasted me about 15 hours before I had to charge it back up…plenty for most people I am sure, but if you plan to use it while camping or something like that, you might find yourself out of power if you don’t have an outlet to charge it. Overall, considering the price and the power brick and lack of volume, I really can’t recommend this, but hopefully the next version will have improvements.

It's small enough to take anywhere. I can use it at home, at work, at the park. It's powerful enough to practice playing bass with. It kicks butt and the sound is great. I highly recommend the LG PK7!! Plus, I caught it on sale for $80 off. You can't beat it.
