Build quality is excellent. It feels very sturdy, and it’s rated at IP67 which means it is dust-tight and able to be temporarily submersed in up to 3 feet of water—which makes it a great option for the beach. While it is designed to be portable, it is generally kind of heavy and not something I would try to put in a backpack (if it would even fit). To that end, it has a built in handle which is good for two handed carrying. In terms of inputs/outputs/connectivity, this portable speaker offers many options. Charging-wise it has a dc in barrel plug. It would be nice if it charged using a standardized port like USB but I’m guessing due to the battery size it would charge too slowly. Plus with a 24 hour battery I’m not really concerned about needing to charge it during a day trip. It can act as a powerbank for other devices with a USB A charging port. It also has an aux port which is a great option for hooking up to higher fidelity audio options. Sound quality is great. I like a pretty flat EQ so I turned sound boost off, but if you like a heavy booming bass the sound boost is a nice option. It’s easily capable of booming bass with the two 4.5 inch woofers. I tested this out with a number of different music styles (hip hop, edm, folk, alternative rock, etc.) and I found it to be great for all options—it’s really a versatile setup. The app is a nice accompaniment to the stereo. The biggest benefit to using it appears to be customization of the lighting via the app. I personally didn’t find much of a use for the stage lighting, but I could see some potential use cases (street performance, dance party with friends, camping etc.) Another random feature is that is It can act as a very large speakerphone; which I don’t see myself using but is an option. Overall this is a very capable portable boombox that i would recommend to anyone looking for great sound, great battery life, and integrated lighting.

This is one of the best portable Bluetooth Speakers I have every owned... Just a couple of nitpicks kept it from having a perfect 5, but a solid solid system. The speaker is pretty heavy, so that is both good a bad. Good, that it is going to stay where you put it, and where you need it... not going get knocked over by wind or just a simple casual contact with someone. Bad, that you have to account for that while moving it. It is also larger than the picture makes it seem. This is not a tiny speaker by any means. Volume... oh my, this speaker can really pump the music. Very loud, and still very very clear while doing so. Playing some of my favorite music, you can shake the house or the deck pretty good with this... I don't think most will ever need to have it past 50%, but if you do... get ready for some sound the will be heard around the area. Easy to setup, as you would imagine. Connect bluetooth and go. I have an iPhone and it promptly asked me to download and setup the companion app, which allowed me to easily setup some of the other light and features of the unit. I personally am not a big fan of lights for "party" mode on these speakers, it is okay.. but really something I just turn off, and it is really easy to do so. There is one particular light, that is intended to light the stage, but I just find it odd, it is on the opposite side of the speaker that the audio comes out of. I guess the intent was to light the stage for the performers? not sure.. I just keep it off now. The deep base and audio is great, and you see XBOM logo'd component really pump and bounce as it is rocking. I haven't tried it in a sandy or wet environment, should be okay, but I am curious on if it would impact long term performance. Easy to charge, easy to power up... the battery I have not been able to drain yet after length use. So close to being a 5, but just enough little little picks, that I would really give this a 4.5-4.75

I've had my share of bluetooth speakers as have most people. From cheapo to rather nice. This LG XBOOM XG9 falls into the rather nice catagory. LG has been around, I own many of their appliances and a soundbar from them so I know what quality I was expecting. The first thing I noticed was when I lifted it from the front stoop to bring it in the house, this package was heavy! Unboxed the contents of the box to find the speaker, the charging brick and packaging to keep everything safe. The charging brick was unexpected, it's like something you'd get with a gaming console or laptop but that just speaks to the quality and charging ability of this speaker. The speaker feels like a dumbbell, heavy with a handle on it. I poked and prodded the speaker a bit. There's some buttons on top and all electronic connections are sealed away thus the IP67 rating (charging port, aux and usb). I charged it up fully before firing it up. I left it charging all night and turned it on the next day. Once I got it turned on and paired I downloaded the LG XBOOM app that was recommended. I would highly suggest downloading the app as it gives you control over a basic equalizer, accurate battery life and the lights on the speaker. There are 2 lights on the speaker itself. One on each end and a spotlight on the back of the speaker. My kids enjoyed turning the lights off and blaring music with the back spotlight on. The sound is remarkable. It carries heavy bass as well as balanced highs. It has a powerful, substantial sound. I was rather impressed. The sound boost feels like the way to go with this My kids and I have both been playing with this speaker off and on for over a week and I have yet to charge it again. This speaker is supposed to last 24 hours without using the lights and without blasting it, and while I haven't done a thorough scientific testing of this I can say that the battery is strong and lasts a while. There are other features that I wasn't able to test like the IP67 rating since it hasn't left my house yet, the speakerphone and the party link that links to other LG devices to give a seamless link between speakers. All in all if you're looking for a rugged, heavy duty speaker that gives great performance and holds a charge for a ridiculous amount of time, look no further than the XG9 from LG.

I have to say that this is a great speaker. The first thing you experience is the weight. Think it is 18 pounds. The handle is great. Sounds like LG chose to use a compression horn mid tweeter. Smooth mid range with very good projection. Highs are subdued without any harshness, even at high volume. The app works well. The bluetooth range is good, and the battery life is as advertised. The way the speaker is set up, you have to place it strategic in a room to get the bass. When you do find that sweet spot in your room you will be rewarded with a good response, bordering on someone wondering if you have an external sub running with it. Outside the bass and mid carry very well. Could be alternative to a DJ. The only downside of this speaker is bass wave cancelation unless you find the sweetspot in your room. The DSP cutting the bass at higher volumes. And the stage lighting in the back I think would have been better spot for another passive radiator, to help with the standing waves. But otherwise an excellent build quality, and volume for the price!

After unboxing the LG XBooom Go XG9QBK the size is what stood out to me. This is a great Outdoor style speaker. Even a Party style speaker. The build quality is excellent and it has some heaviness to it. A good heaviness and not a bad one. It has a rubber-style handle that makes it easy to carry or transport. The speaker itself has a nice soft comfy material around it. The buttons have a click to them. You will know each time you click them. When you turn the speaker on you hear a sound and when you turn it off you hear a sound. So let me know if it's on or off. These are small things that can go a long way in my opinion. So let's discuss the sound this thing outputs. This Big Boom has some Big Bass! I mean Big Bass! The Audio is clear and very much clarity when listening to music. This thing was made with Music in mind I'd imagine. There is an app you can download which I'm not a fan of. Because everybody wants you to download their app. So you will end up with 20 different apps that you never use... The Negatives are weight and size. They claim this thing is portable yeah anything is portable if it fits in a car. This thing is large and heavy and meant for large gatherings. Also, the Price of this thing is 500 bucks which I can't justify. Last the app, was very basic. Again I'm never a fan of companies saying "Download our app..."

As portable speakers go, I honestly can’t think of what more I could have expected. A phone and this speaker and you have a full on party in the go! Connecting was as easy as you’d expect for any Bluetooth based speaker. Once connected, unleash the bass! The power in this thing is insane. The bass kicks hard, the volume goes up, but it’s not just loud for the sake of loud. It’s clear. Without going up to max volume I could hear this speaker clear across my house clear as day. What you get from this speaker is what you’d expect of a speaker that required to be plugged in. The ability to plug this speaker up and take it out on the go is crazy. Let’s say you are stationary enjoying the tunes, throwing a party…the lighting on this speaker brings things to life. Be it through the lights, or the kick of the speaker, this speaker comes to life and turns everything up. If there was anything bad I could say about this speaker, I’d say that if you’re getting this speaker and you live in an apartment, you’re wasting it. Sure, you can tone it done as to not disturb your neighbors, but this speaker begs to be unleashed. This might be a little too much for people with thin walls.

Never i have ever been so impressed by the glorious bass and highs. We are truly in a new age of portable sound and this speaker has definitely turned the page for us. Long lasting battery paired with the water proofabilty had me immediately typing in my card number and i do not regret. Run dont walk to buy this speaker.
