Decent features with average sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the current price, this speaker is just ok. Things I like: -Dustproof/Waterproof and it floats - I guess this is good if you want to take it in a pool, to the beach or are worried about dropping your electronics in a body of water and having them still play. I popped it in the shower and i noticed the sound immediately sounded muffled. Although I haven't tried I'm guessing tossing this in the pool will probably make it sound worse than it already does. - USB Charge-out- Convenient when you're not near a plug (which lets be honest is likely why your buying this speaker) and you need to charge your phone or tablet. -Built in Mic- Good for hands free use if you want to take phone calls. -Backlit controls- If you hover your hand over the speaker the controls will slowly light up and so you can see in the dark. This was pretty cool to discover. Things that I'm not a fan of: -Storage compartment at the bottom- Just big enough for a credit card, some cash or a key...all of which are things that will likely be stolen from you if someone tries to walk off with the speaker while you're walking on the beach or mixing a drink. -Charger isn't usb- Why lifeproof? Like I need another charger to keep up with on top of all my electronics charging cords. The biggest issue I found was: Sound quality- This was a big disappointment. Bass is barely able to be picked up on this speaker and the actual sound is average at best. I played plenty different types of music and none of them sounded that great. I realize this speaker is more for people who are on the run and out doing things, but aren't most waterproof speakers that way now? For the price of this and the price of others in the market that are also waterproof I would have to look at the other brands first purely due to the sound quality of it. I do get it, it's a bluetooth speaker and you get what you pay for. However, I feel like once you pay upwards of $100 for a speaker you should expect a better sound quality and I think this speaker failed to deliver.

Sturdy Build and Excellent Desgin
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have used other Bluetooth speakers and they have all left something missing. I was looking for a device that could stand up to outside use without compromising sound. The Lifeproof A10 does this and has excellent additional features to boot. First, for the price, it has excellent sound. It has a speaker on each side of the unit so you dont necessarily have to aim it to cover a large group. Second, the battery life is excellent. Third, the little additions like the storage compartment and the ability to charge a device via USB are a nice touch. Overall I am very pleased with this product and would recommend it for those looking for a sturdy, good sounding speaker.

Decent Sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Disclaimer: I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review of the product. This product produces okay sound. I have a Sony bluetooth speaker, as well, and that one has much clearer sound, plus it has a setting to increase the base, while this Lifeproof speaker does not. The only real advantage I see to the product is that it is waterproof, and because of that, I have kept it in the bathroom right by my shower to play music while I'm showering or getting ready in the morning. I have yet to intentionally get the speaker soaking wet, but I have intentionally handled it with wet hands and not protected it from the shower, and it is still in its original functioning order. It also has a compartment on the bottom where you can keep things dry, say if you took it to the beach or the pool.

Great Waterproof Speaker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Bluetooth speaker has great sound coming from it. It looks and feels rugged. Controls are on top and easy to use. One nice feature is that the controls are backlit once you move your hands over them they light up making it easy to use in the dark. This thing is also waterproof. Used it in the shower to test it out and no issues, works like a champ. It has a waterproof compartment underneath it but I couldn't fit my phone in it because of my case but personally I wouldn't try it lol. Overall rugged and sounds great for its size.

Okay speaker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first experience with a bluetooth speaker and I have to say I didn't care for it much. The speaker arrived in great packaging, and feels sturdy (and surprisingly heavy). It's a decent looking speaker that looks like it would hold up to the weather very well. I did like that it could be positioned either horizontally or vertically. It also floats. The documentation was difficult at best to understand, and it wasn't accurate, making set-up much more frustrating and difficult than it should have been. The instructions for Bluetooth pairing were flat-out wrong and that made testing the speaker next to impossible. I finally got it paired with my phone, but I had to use a method other than what the "flyer" that serves as an instruction manual said. Once I did manage to get it paired I was impressed by the range. I walked a good 200 feet from the source and the signal still came through no problem. Unfortunately it can't be turned up very loud or the sound becomes distorted. I had to fiddle with the volume on my phone and on the speaker to find a good balance but it still seemed to distort and become very tinny very quickly. The bass speaker is okay, but is just too small to be very effective. The connections make sense--with the big exception of the charger. For some reason it's proprietary rather than a universal mini-usb, meaning that if you lose the charger you're out of luck and have a couple hundred dollar brick on your hands. There's a waterproof compartment to hold wires, but it's not very large so the wires would have to be very small. Overall the cons for this speaker are just to many for me to recommend it.

Loud but lacks bass
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having owned various Bluetooth speakers, there are a few things that I demand out of these kind of speakers. Sound quality, battery life, ease of connectivity, aesthetics, and robustness. This is how im going to structure this review. Before we begin, this isn’t an ordinary home Bluetooth speaker. This is in the rugged segment for those who want to use this outside and for their active lifestyle. Falls in line with Lifeproof’s product line of protecting electronics from drops and water exposure. Sound Quality: 3 out of 5 The AQ10’s housing is no bigger than a tissue box but can easily fill the room with volume. Reason why I gave it 3 out of 5 is the lack of bass. I placed it on all sorts of surfaces and it all sounds about the same. There are plenty of other competitors that do bass better. Maybe it’s the waterproofing that kills the bass? Either way, its disappointing and especially disappointing at this price point. Battery Life: 4 out of 5 I haven’t done any long term test on the battery life but it did get close to the advertised 13 hours of battery. This also greatly depends if youre listening on level 10 or level 5. The reason why I gave this a 4 out of 5 is because it uses a special charging cable that you have to lug around. Not the industry standard of using a micro USB. Very disappointed in this. Connectivity: 5 out of 5 Once powered on, it connects instantly with my phone. There is a small lag on controlling the volume with your phone but nothing to knock a rating for. Aesthetics: 4 out of 5 It does look nice and the lime green pops against the grey. The lost rating for me is that it could use more rubber. The housing is all smooth textured plastic and slips around a bit. For an outdoor speaker, I would expect a bit more “rugged” parts like rubber corners, etc. The dry “compartment” underneath is a joke and don’t expect it to hold anything useful. The one thing I do like about the aesthetics is that the rubber buttons on top are backlighted. That’s a nice touch as its nice to see the volume, track advance buttons in the dark. Robustness: NA I haven’t accidentally or intentionally dropped the speaker yet to try but I do believe it can float, waterproof, and be dropped. With the lack of rubber around the casing, I can’t imagine how “pretty” it would look after one simple drop onto gravel. Summary: While it does what its suppose to, I expected more out of this speaker with its large price tag. The bass is lackluster and also the deal killer for me. Special charging cable and not via micro USB? Come on and get with the times lifeproof!

Good sound plus unique features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This portable speaker has good sound quality when hooked up to my phone. It paired easily with Bluetooth. Some of the unique features, besides being waterproof, include a locking mechanism to prevent buttons from working and a dry box to store valuables. The dry box is small however, and would only store credit cards, some cash and possibly a key or two. This speaker is great for bringing with to outdoor events - rugged and good sound quality.

Good enough sound for a waterproof speaker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros -Waterproof -Floats -Bluetooth and 3.5 aux-in -Big, backlit, tactile buttons -Dry storage compartment underneath -USB charging for other devices -Speakerphone Cons -Sound quality mediocre due to waterproofing -Lacks bass -Storage compartment is small -Weak USB power output -Charges via proprietary wall wart, not micro-USB Overall For what it is and what it's designed for, the AQ10 is a nifty little device. The case is toughened against falls, it's waterproof, and it floats. For taking tunes with you to the beach, up to the lake, or even in the hot tub, Lifeproof has a decent speaker here. The case has handles at the corners for clipping to the bag and the control buttons are backlit for operation in the dark ( they pulse on when you touch the casing ). The controls are easily usable by touch alone due to their big, defined, rubbery texture and you can engage a lock to keep them being depressed on bumpy rides or while the speaker dangles from a backpack. For extra features, the AQ10 can charge other USB devices off its battery ( port is under a flap on one end, along with the 3.5mm in jack and speaker's own charging port ). Underneath is a water-tight storage compartment with a second pair of USB charging and 3.5mm aux jack. The downside is that audio quality is mediocre at best. Waterproofing the internals usually means using tougher materials or coatings that dampen the drivers and make them less responsive. Mids sound muffled and bass is pretty disappointing from an audiophile viewpoint. And while the AQ10 uses two drivers, they're too small and too close together to get any kind of meaningful stereo separation. The drivers also face one direction, meaning the back is a false grill. The storage compartment is also rather small ( only 4.25" x 2.125" x 0.5" ). You can fit a few credit cards, some cash, and a single key or two ( no keychains though ), but very few phones will fit. A few small media players can just make it ( my Zune HD barely fits ) but getting them connected is almost impossible. The 3.5 jack is very close to the compartment floor, meaning you need slim connectors. The cable would also need to be very short and with angle connectors to work with any iPod you tuck inside. Using both 3.5mm and USB port is practically impossible. Speaking of the USB port, it's only rated to output 5V @ 0.5A, or 2.5W. Many phones now want at least 5W to charge normally, and many tablets want 10W. Your phone might get a small trickle charge off it, but mostly it will just keep your phone battery level as it plays music. The speaker itself charges from a dedicated DC adapter wall wart, meaning you must keep track of the included adapter rather than using any of a number of micro-USB chargers you likely already have. If you want a reference quality BT speaker ( if such a thing even exists ), the AQ10 is not it. You can also get better sounding BT speakers that are water resistant as well. But if you want a tough, fully waterPROOF speaker to throw in your camping pack without worrying about dinging it up, the AQ10 might be for you. Chances are you're not worrying about theater-like sound at a clam bake on the beach or while spending a day on the lake. The AQ10 is also a nice way to get tunes for your morning shower or evening bath. It's that just-good-enough sound quality mixed with ruggedness that makes this a worthwhile purchase. The water-tight compartment makes it that much more usable. Just be careful it's not lost or stolen with your credit cards and keys inside.

Lifeproof - the speaker for the great outdoors!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.LifeProof - AQUAPHONICS AQ10 Portable Bluetooth Speaker First impression: This Bluetooth speaker is very versatile sort of like a Swiss Army knife of Bluetooth speakers! It feels very sturdy, it's enclosed in a plastic box similar to ones I've used for scuba diving. The buttons light up and have a rubber cover over it, kind of neat. Unique features: 1. Water resistant - can be submersed in water (1 meter for 30 minutes. 2. Dust proof, I assume it's sand proof as well. 3. Drop protection (from 1.2 meters) 4. 2 USB charging ports Microphone to use as a speakerphone 5. Dry box - keep small items dry such as cash and credit card sized items. 6. Audio input jack It looks like something I would take to the beach or leave in the backyard patio, especially if I owned a pool! Feature wise, this has it all! Setup: Fairly easy to setup, press and hold the Bluetooth button than find "LIFEPROOF AQ10" on your device list and connect. I had it connected to 2 different devices. I was able to switch by holding down the same Bluetooth button. Unfortunately when it connects, it doesn't tell you which device it's connected to, it just makes a tone to indicate it's connected. Sound quality: It all comes down to the sound quality. The speaker was able to play music loud enough to fill my kitchen area (approximately 10'x15' open kitchen). The sound is a bit high on the treble side and lacking deep base. I found the sound quality to be somewhat uninspiring for this price point (retails for $200 exclusively at Best Buy). Conclusion: As the name "Lifeproof" suggests, this this is built to take abuse! If this is what your needs are, this is definitely a good choice. However if you're picky about sound quality, perhaps compare to other devices before purchasing.

Great Wireless Speaker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Connects via Bluetooth without any problems. The sound is clear, even at its loudest. I like the idea of this speaker having storage, but it only fit a small iphone or other small candybar shaped phone. You can use it for keys , money and such, but not for one of the larger phones. That's the reason for the 4 star rating. This wireless speaker has a USB port to charge your phone while playing your music. I haven't used it in a pool yet to see if it is truly waterproof and will float. Will update later. Overall a decent Wireless speaker.

WOW!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I LOVE this speaker. It has absolutely stunning sound in a small package - even better is the water resistance. My wife and I are definitely going to take this to our beach trips each Summer. I wasn't expecting this wonderful of a speaker from something that isn't Bose or HK, but this is truly a wonderful speaker. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Great All Round Speaker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great speaker for use everywhere. It was very loud and didn't even turn up the volume. It also works very good for phone calls. The compartment to hold valuables isn't very big. It is more suited to holding a cell phone since there is a usb and a power port in there. Or you can fit a wallet and keys in there if you don't put your phone in it. I really have no complaints.

Durable speaker perfect size
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a huge product space, with a lot of competition. The speaker is well designed and great for outside activities. I was impressed with the battery in contrast to other bluetooth speakers I've used in the past. I think my favorite thing about this is the waterproofing. i.e. shower or pool time

Very Versatile Speaker
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this speaker for just a few days but it has gotten a lot of use already. Because I have given it to my 11 year old son, I am going to include both his thoughts and mine in the review. First, according to my son, the first thing that he noticed was how light the speaker was. After using it a few days, he is really impressed with the sound quality. Also, he is impressed with how the buttons on the speaker can control his iPad while he is listening to YouTube videos (forward, pause and skip#. Also, he mentioned that he feels "safe" with the speaker because it has a compartment to lock up a phone and keep it waterproof. I would say he is pretty pleased with the speaker in every aspect. Now, for my thoughts. Our family has four other speakers, most at a price point at or above this speaker. What I've come to realize is that most Bluetooth speakers specialize in a type of use or lifestyle. For example, there are speakers that have the most outstanding sound quality, speakers that are great for outdoors, speakers that are easy to transport, and speakers that are great for parties #think strobe lights#. Speakers sometimes are made for how you use them rather than how good they sound. This speaker is one of those. It's specialty is versatility and durability. It is very light and easy to carry with the handles all around it. Also, it can easily be placed on its side or stood up. It is drop proof and waterproof. Perfect for outdoor settings, especially if there is a chance of rain, if it is left out overnight, or if you are near a pool or beach. Also, it is designed to be simple and easy to use. The buttons are big, easy to see and you can easily tell when you've pushed one. The sound quality on this speaker is not bad, but I think the tradeoff between having all of the other options, including the waterproof, is that the speaker is well sealed and doesn't allow as much sound depth out as speakers that focus strictly on sound quality. To me, it feels like there is not quite enough bass, especially if you are outside. With that said, the sound quality is still pretty good and I would rate this as an excellent speaker if you value the other qualities mentioned above as much as the sound quality.

Gr8 outdoor speaker
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Built tough to take a licking and keep on ticking. Speaker has two grills for more power. Water tight compartment is an added plus. This is definitely something to keep in UR RV. Like the way it can stand upright like a tower, for best room coverage.

Perfect pool accessory
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of those things that you want and after you get it and use it you realize you needed it all along. This little gem falls in that category. The ability to toss this in the pool and still clearly hear the music is great. I don't have to crank up the patio sound anymore. Next time I go on vacation to the ocean this is going with me but I'll be sure to tether it to me.

Average Sound Quality
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was really excited about this speaker. LifeProof makes some pretty unbeatable ;-) phone cases. So, when I saw a Bluetooth speaker that has those same features (water proof, shock proof, etc.), I was pretty excited about that. This should be the perfect outdoor item for someone who wants to listen to music anywhere. That being said, I was left disappointed by the overall sound quality. Yes, set-up was super easy, I had no problem connecting my phone. And yes, as LifeProof is known for, this speaker does hold up well. I haven't dropped it from any tall buildings or gone swimming with it, but it does seem to deliver on the "LifeProof" features. The problem is, LifeProof seems to have focused too much on that and forgotten that this is still supposed to be a speaker that plays music. The sound quality is just not there. It's not bad at lower volumes, but as soon as you start trying to turn it up, things just don't sound right. The treble is too high in my opinion. Frankly, I think my Google Home has a better sounding speaker than this. It's great that I can drop it on the ground or in water and it'll still work...but it falls short on it's main function. And for the price this is marked at, it's not worth it for me.

Rugged and Tough
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A rather heavy speaker at over 1lb, but well built and water proof. Will automatically turn off if submerged in water. Has convenient storage section for your phone and can charge your device as well. Large function keys. Great for use outside. Nice sound as long as there isn't a lot of bass. Last's almost a whole day up to 13 hrs. Connections a plenty. For those that indulge you will like it.

The speaker did not last for even a week
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The features are nice, but the quality just isn't there. The waterproof compartment is small and one of the speakers stopped working before even the tenth use. While this is a great concept, the design was not well thought out and the quality is substandard. This might be a defective model, but I would look at other reviews before purchasing. I did not not have a chance to test the waterproof properties because it stopped working before I had a chance. If the other reviews are good, then this is just an isolated incident. I was excited for this product and disappointed with its performance and durability.
