This speaker has came in handy so many times when we are out on the river and want to listen to music

This speaker was all we thought it would be. We bought it for the beach and were not disappointed.

Don’t waist your money buy a different t one I spent a little more and the quality 10 fold

LifeProof - AQUAPHONICS AQ10 Portable Bluetooth Speaker The speaker, charging cable and manual are included. Dimensions are approximately 8 1/2" x 3 1/4" x 3 1/4". The speaker was very easy to pair via Bluetooth. it will pair with up to 8 devices. I had no problems connecting the speaker to my iPhone. I streamed music from iheartradio and the connection kept on dropping. I don't think it was the speaker itself and more a connectivity issue. The sound was good. There is also a USB, 12v jack and audio in jack on the outside, hidden under a cover on one end. On the other end is a slide to lock buttons. Along the top there are large, easy to press control buttons. There is a dry box on the bottom that allows you to store a car key or two, but not on a large keychain and some cash or something else small. You wouldn't be able to store a phone in there. It's about 4 3/4" x 2" x 3/8". Inside the dry box there is an audio input jack and a USB port that you can use to charge a device. The speaker boasts that it is submersible up to 1 meter for 30 minutes, will survive drops from 1.2 meters high, floats for easy water retrieval, has a 13 hour battery and is sealed from dirt, dust and snow. I did not test the speaker in the water nor drop to see how it would hold up. I personally have no need to keep it in or near water. It will be great to use outdoors though, while working or playing outside with the kids. if we lived by a beach it would be great to use there. it doesn't surprise me that Lifeproof came out with this kind of speaker. It's very sturdy and seems very durable. If you live outdoors and need a portable wireless speaker, this should suit your needs perfectly.

I would recommend this speaker to anyone who likes the outdoors or just playing music inside.

The LifeProof AQUAPHONICS AQ10 Portable Bluetooth Speaker is a great portable speaker for any situation. I have tested this speaker a lot over the past 2 weeks, anything from the dusty race track to the dirty garage where it gets knocked off the bench all the time. I must say, LifeProof did an awesome job proving why they are named LifeProof. This speaker has been beat up, not on purpose, but naturally over the past 2 weeks. I am rough on my things, I have broke so many portable radios over my lifetime, I could probably afford a new car with all that money. So far, this radio has been dropped off a 4 ft bench multiple times, off a truck tailgate, ran over by 2 atvs and thrown by my kid. Here is the good: 1. Long Battery Life(just over 9 hours at full volume at the track, 15 plus hours in my garage at a more normal volume) 2. Protected(drop it, bop it, spray it, it still works) 3. Charges your phone(I used this and it works, not fast at all but works) 4. Volume(perfect for most people, not everyone needs to hear it) 5. Build Quality 6. Portability 7. Easy Bluetooth hookup Now, the bad equally weighs along with the good. The speaker takes a long time to charge, but at least plays when plugged in so it is not a huge deal breaker. The main issues come in when you talk about the compartment, you could not fit 90 percent of the normal smartphones sold today in it. I have 6 people in my house and not one device could fit in this compartment. So, this is aimed for small iphones that no one buys anymore. I was unable to test if the compartment actually protects a device, very disappointing. Also, the speaker at full volume distorts horribly, yes above I said one of the positives are the volume, but I said for most people, for me, it is not very loud and you cant listen to anything with bass, it sounds horrible. The Bad: 1. Compartment (way to small, this isn't the school for ants) 2. Sound Quality (speakers half the cost sound more tuned) 3. Long charging time 4. High price 5. No way to change battery packs I will continue to use the LifeProof AQ10, but once I figure out how to break it(not on purpose), I will look at something else. I would like to possibly try the LifeProof AQ11, it is bigger, maybe it will fit my devices and has bigger speakers, but it is not cheap as well.

Its sound was not very clear, the bass was not much and the sound system sounded hollow, empty.

It seems like every week, there's a new Bluetooth speaker on the market to choose from. I own a number of them and to be honest, I haven't run into any that were _terrible_ but they do tend to have different features to try to stand out in the crowd. The Lifeproof Aquaphonics line of Bluetooth speakers seems to be a new entry that banks on Lifeproof's reputation. While I've owned and had decent experiences with a few Lifeproof cases in the past, ironically one of the worst things I noticed was a decrease in phone audio quality, especially on speakerphone. Does this carry over to the Aquaphonics line? Thankfully, it does not appear to do so. But before getting into the subjective side of things, let's talk about specifics. The AQ10 seems to consist of a plastic build, although it has a decent heft to it so as not to feel cheaply made. It has a light gray color scheme with bright green accents, which seems to be a popular combination for "outdoor/active" gear. For charging, it forgoes the typical microUSB found on most and instead relies on a 12V 2A charger with a barrel-type connector. I really wish they hadn't done that, as it's yet another separate power supply to keep track of. The AQ10 can also act as a USB power bank with a USB A port, but it can only supply power to that port while the speaker is not in use. Plus, that port seems to max out at 500ma, which results in slower charging than the typical 1A (or higher) power banks. The AQ10 is also advertised as having a small dry storage area, but it really is small. It's smaller than an iPhone 5, so I realistically don't see myself putting much in here except maybe some cash and/or room keys. When paired with an iPhone, it does support iOS battery level reporting, which is nice. The buttons also are fairly tactile with a rubber covering, which lights up when your fingers get close. Besides the charging connector and the USB port, there is an aux-in jack which thankfully uses a standard 3.5mm connector. With that, how does it sound? Again, this is pretty subjective but when I first connected it and compared it to some other Bluetooth speakers I have that are similar in price, I was underwhelmed, to be honest. The overall sound didn't sound full range, with bass response being on the lighter side. However, the more I used it and experimented with different locations, I actually started to like the overall sound output because it seemed to fill the room/area to a good level, without getting distorted or overly bright on the high end. I also became more accustomed to the bass response; again, it's not as pronounced but it still sounds good. I didn't specifically test any of the "proofs" in terms of water, sand, snow, but based on their reputation I feel confident that it will stand up to a reasonable amount of exposure. $199 is the asking price for the AQ10, which seems to be banking on their brand name. If you're shopping for something in that price range, I would recommend trying one out in addition to the competition to see if its sound matches up with what you like.

It doesn't get loud enough and bass is trash. Speakers can't handle being on high volume.

If you want a tough, outdoor waterproof speaker than this is your speaker. I have quite a many Bluetooth speakers and this would most likely never be my go to choice. If I had a boat or lived more near the water than this would probably be my first choice. The audio is decent until you crank it up, distortion and pitchy highs are too much for me. I am sure the things I don't like about this speaker are the reason its such a great rugged outdoor speaker. Would be a good bathroom or shower speaker as well, if I didn't have it built in already. The unit itself has a great solid feel and is easy to hold onto with options for straps and what not. The water proof compartment is designed for small things like cash, CC's or key's. It is not designed for your phone like some of the complaints I have seen. But it may be good to toss in a nano and into the yard for Halloween or something like that. Maybe even keep it in a greenhouse to have some tunes while working or keeping those leafy greens happy. This speaker is for the outdoorsy type looking for something that can take whatever is dished out at it. Nice big buttons that can be easily used with gloves on and a sturdy shell for some serious bouncing. Battery holds up very well and couldn't burn it out in a full days use. Phone died before the speaker.

The Lifeproof AQ10 is Lifeproof/Otter's latest attempt at a portable, waterproof bluetooth speaker. I'm sorry to say it is rather disappointing. Lets cover the pros first because the speaker IS decent. -Build quality is excellent. Very solid. -Waterproof up to a meter for 30 minutes. -good battery life -Design With all the coolness this speaker has to offer it sounds terrible. I own many bluetooth speakers and this one sounds the worst. It sounds harsh at higher volume. The speaker doesn't get all that loud, even when plugged in and bass is lacking. You can't charge the speaker with a micro USB like with most other brands. You will need to use the supplied wall wart. I played several different tracks from rock, metal, pop and country and the speaker really left me wanting more. Truly a disappointment. While the Lifeproof name means your speaker will be protected from the elements, it doesn't mean you are going to get a great sounding product. At this price point there are much better speakers to choose from that offer the same features.

I bought two of these after being told by a Best Buy associate that they could be "paired together" and play the same music from one phone...That isn't the case. Also the sound quality was mediocre at best really lacking any decent mids or bass. I returned these and bought two Boomjacket 2's which are also going back due to "pairing together" issues.
