Perfect water-proof BT speaker!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, the packaging for this speaker is quite elegant. Everything is placed inside the box with purpose. The included charger gets it from zero to full in roughly 1-2 hours. Also, it'll most likely arrive out of the box nearly fully charged. There is a compartment underneath the unit with a water, dust, and snow proof latch that's big and deep enough to hold a few essentials (small phone, credit cards, licenses, etc). Syncing my phone to Lifeproof's speaker was a breeze! Sound quality was absolutely superb. I am very surprised at how well the highs/lows/bass sound on this speaker considering it's only the size of a 20oz drink. Another neat feature is the flap that covers the charging port also covers a USB port where you could charge another device using the speaker as the source. This speaker floated and stayed waterproof in my salt pool for over a combined 24 hours now. Absolutely no damage or muffled sound has resulted. I love love this BT speaker! My favorite use so far was on a kayaking trip and I bungee corded it to the front and jammed out literally all day due to its excellent battery life. I highly recommended this speaker 5/5.

Awesome and Fun
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What a great product that fit a need I have had for a while. The thing looks cool, and I can place it around the edge of the pool not worrying about damage. It's sturdy, strong, well built, and has a great color scheme. I had zero issues connecting and setting up, and it had a pretty far reach because I also was able to connect it to my receiver inside while out at the pool. Music was clear and full. If you are going to use a Bluetooth speaker outside, forget the other brands and pick one of these up.

It's good
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is a good speaker. Decent sound but doesn't get to loud and not very much bass. It's easy to set up. Small and can charge 3 devices at once. The compartment that it has can possibly fit an iphone4 or similarly sized phone. It's durable and can handle a splash of water easily. I have the JBL Charge 2 which is a much better sounding speaker but the volume level is approximately the same between the speakers. Overall this lifeproof speaker is good.

Awesome Features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There is a lot to love about this speaker which is where I will start. It is waterproof, has a usb port to charge your phone, has a small compartment on the bottom to store items in, and comes with a full charger (not just a cord). Outside of sound quality, it has some of the beast features and design out there. Sound quality is good but not excellent. There are other speakers with better sound but the difference might not be noticeable to some.

Rugged Bluetooth Speaker with Average Sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was very excited when I received this speaker. I had high expectations due to specs and the brands reputation. I was instantly disappointed once I started to listen to the speaker. For a speaker this size and price, it has tiny/small speaker sound. The sound clarity is ok at low to mid volume, but sounds breaks up after about 2/3'd volume. This speaker also doesn't have any bass. It's all mids and highs. Not what I was expecting at all for a bluetooth speaker in this price range. If you were at the beach, with all the sounds from everything going on, this speaker would be hard to hear. Inside, or in a private setting outside this speaker would be ok. The "dry box" is small, and might fit a few credit cards and some cash, but that's about it. Was hoping to at least be able to put a phone in there. Pros: -Rugged and water proof. Perfect for outdoor situations. -Great battery life Cons: -Price -Sub par sound for this size and price -Sound distorts easily

Nice Sound From a Small Source
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Aquaphonics AQ10 Bluetooth Speaker is a nice little portable speaker, especially for use outdoors and near the pool. It is submersible up to 1 meter (a little over 3 feet) for up to 30 minutes. I haven't tested this myself, and wouldn't recommend doing so, but I would feel confident that if it fell into the pool and was quickly retrieved that it would be just fine (or was caught out in the rain). The sound is robust and crisp, however the bass is adequate but not great. You won't be shaking the concrete with deep bass. It weighs in at 1.7 lbs, and is roughly 8.5 inches long and 3.25 inches tall and wide. The speaker comes with a charging cord and has an audio input and usb output which get tucked away to keep the water out. It paired effortlessly with my phone, which is a good thing. Overall I like the sound and the look of this device and being waterproof is a feature that can be really important for outdoor usage.

Solid speaker, OK sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Lifeproof AQ10 is a solidly built speaker with an attractive appearance but just OK sound. Construction is impressive. The outer body and speaker grills appears to be metal. All of the hatches close tightly and the buttons are sealed with a rubber membrane for water proofing. And the weight is just enough to keep it from feeling chintzy without making it a burden to carry around. The water proof hatch on the bottom is nice. It includes an additional USB charging port and aux in if you wanted to keep a phone in it. The only downside is that, on the AQ10, this compartment is small and will only fit older, smaller phones. On the usability and performance side: Paring with devices is standard easy BT. Battery life is strong. Controls are easy to understand. But the sound output is just OK: There is plenty of volume and its very crisp and clear, but it comes off a little short on bass. One other note: charging the speaker cannot be done with USB. You must use the included DC cylindrical-style ac adapter. It's not inherently bad, just feels limiting when most other speakers can charge with any micro-USB charger.

Good sound nice form factor
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Waterproof sturdy modern design . Nice lighted buttons with visual response and ability to lock button (to prevent inadvertent volume or track changes). Bluetooth linked well and immediately to pixel and iPhone. Small (cards and keys only) dry box. Charging port and analog input which will likely be rarely used are in dry box area. Sound loud and very good. A bit pricey at $199 for size and sound.

Poor quality and return policy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Opened this Xmas morning and radio powers up and connects to my phone but does not charge anything from the power bank. Power bank is broken and not working. After 1 hour on hold with life proof they need me to give them my credit card over the phone and for me to pay for the shipping and handling to send back to the manufacturer to repair. This is lifeproofs policy for any defective units. So no easy return or exchange policy. Had to go through bestbuy for an exchange for a different brand speaker/power bank unit

Posted .Hey Play,
We're so sorry to hear that your AQUAPHONICS AQ10 seemed to be on the struggle bus! Understanding your grievances towards the shipping and handling fee associated with our warranty, we would only point out that this is a nominal cost. While we are more than happy to take on the responsibility of replacing the speaker itself, unfortunately we are unable to absorb the cost of getting the product back to us so that we can inspect the damage and validate the warranty.
We're glad to learn that you found an alternative option that works better for you, and we sincerely hope that this experience does not turn you away from LifeProof for good! Nice Features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The LifeProof AQUAPHONICS AQ10 Portable Bluetooth Speaker feels, looks, and sounds good. In terms of build, the speaker seems solidly built. At about 1 3/4 pounds, it is not terribly heavy, but it feels solid. I like that the ends are squared off; this allows you to place the speaker vertically (on end) as well as horizontally (on bottom). Presentation is good. LifeProof did a nice job with packaging. Mine came in a sturdy, attractive housing. However, be warned, instructions are on the skimpy side. The instructions that are present are in very small print. I have numerous BT speakers, but I initially had a hard time getting this one to work. When it first connected to my phone, it wouldn't play music through the speaker. As I tried to make it work, I apparently hit the "Source" button (which looks more like a skip song button). If there had been any useful directions, I may have figured that out quickly. But since there weren't, it took rebooting everything and trying again several times with different phones before I realized what was going on. Part of the issue is that it didn't work quite as the instructions said (mine never blinked to indicate it was ready to pair). But it did eventually work. That first pairing was hard, but subsequent pairings were easy. I think it works well; it just didn't work quite as described and there wasn't any help for how to overcome the issue. To pair, simply hit the BT button for a half second or so. Release. Initiate pairing on your source device. That should work. Don't hold the BT button on the speaker waiting for it to flash. And don't press other flashing buttons on the device - especially the source button. Connection is via BT 4.2, which is good. If desired, there is also an audio-in port, so you can plug a device directly into the speaker without using BT. I struggled to find a use for that, but it's there if you need it. Once paired, it holds the signal well and offers good sound quality. I compared it side-by-side with another waterproof BT speaker I use, and the A10 had clearly superior sound. You can tell the dual front-facing drivers and dual passive radiators do their jobs. This little speaker can crank up to 94 dB. The speaker is actually waterproof, not just water-resistant. If you have everything closed up the way you're supposed to, it can be dunked in up to 1 meter of water. It can actually float, too, if dropped in water. There is a small water-tight drybox to store items when using the speaker around water. The drybox is a bit more shallow and narrow than I had hoped. It won't hold a wallet, full-size phone, or some key fobs, for instance; but it can hold some cash or other small items. It has a microphone, which works well enough for calls in a pinch; but I don't really recommend using it for calls unless you really need to. Continuing a trend I've noticed in recent electronic devices, the wall plug seems unnecessarily bulky. I wish it were smaller. I also wish the speaker charged via USB-C or micro USB instead of the proprietary charger it uses. Better make sure you don't lose that charger while on vacation! The charging port is placed on one end of the speaker. The power button is placed on the opposite end. I guess that makes sense, but in practice, it can the speaker just a little bit more difficult to use if you want to just leave it plugged up somewhere, as I do. OTOH, the speaker is rated for 13 hours of playback, so I may be the only one who finds the button placement inconvenient.. Likes: -Good sound and range. -Attractive appearance. -Solid feel. -Waterproof. -Floats. -Drybox. -Decent battery life. Dislikes: -Propriety charging port; would have greatly preferred USB-C or micro-USB. -Minimal documentation. This made setup more difficult than necessary. -Price. Overall, I recommend this speaker. Once I got past the setup issue, it was really good. It is a bit on the pricey side for the market, and I'm not sure the features make it all that much better. But it's not absurdly high, has good sound, and has nice features. Definitely a strong first entrant into the BT speaker market by LifeProof.

Excellent for Outdoors, Average Otherwise
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Lifeproof AQ10 does not disappoint when it comes to protection of elements such as water. You can safely drop it in the pool for instance or leave it in the rain or snow. It also has a good design and battery life is not bad. There are actually many things to like about it such as USB charge-out which is very convenient when you need to charge your phone while away from other power sources, built-in mic which I used during a phone call and was not disappointed, and controls that glow when your hands gets close to them at night. There is a dry box which seems to have been designed for very small phones and you should not expect to use it with an iPhone 7 or newer Galaxy of any size but you can store your in-ear headphone in it. Taking it with you while you shower is a good experience since excellent sound quality is rarely a requirement under that circumstance but be aware that its acoustics is not that good under high volume. I would still recommend it for outdoors use, especially if you do that frequently and do not want to damage your portable speaker with humidity or dust. For peace of mind, it is unsurpassed. But if you are picky about sound quality and want a speaker that reflects that taste all the time, Lifeproof AQ10 is definitely not for you. That being said, a rugged speaker like this would be much more expensive if sound quality was any better and it is the reason why I recommend it despite my giving it only 3 stars.

Rugged Bluetooth Speaker with Average Sound
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using this bluetooth speaker for some time now and overall I would say that I'm satisfied with the performance. Aside from the extremely rugged build quality and the fact that it's water and dust proof, the audio quality falls a bit short. At least by my standards. For the pricing segment that this product falls in, I expected to get some deeper bass and some crisper mids and highs.Volume wise, It does get pretty loud and it does have some decent bass, but I did notice some slight distortion at the loudest volume setting. Now that we've gotten the negative out of the way, we can focus on what I did really like about this product. If you're a weekend warrior that is constantly outdoors, this is something you'll want to have on camping trips, lake trips, trips to the beach, etc. The build quality is exceptional. I feel like I can chuck this from a ten story building and it would be completely fine. As mentioned previously, this thing is waterproof and dustproof so you don't have to worry about it on your trips. Set it, play some music, and sit back and relax. The speaker also floats on water. I can see this being very handy on my many lake trips this summer! Overall, you may not be getting exceptional audio quality but what you are getting is exceptional build quality that will take a beating for years to come.

Nice speaker but I think there are better
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sounds good but doesn't have the depth of sound like a Bose. I put it in the sink and it may float eventually but didn't immediately. The sound is somewhat muted while in water. The airtight compartment stayed dry and the speaker kept working after being submerged. The range is 30 to 40 ft from the source. There are other speakers that have a further range and that would be nice here. It is nice for all weather speaker. But would like more for the price.
