The LIFX brand is amazing and a good value over the Phillips Hue. Setup is very simple and I like the fact that you don't need to buy a bridge in order for them to work. It's just plug and play. You also get a better color range with these over the Hue. My only gripe is that one of my bulbs didconnects at times so I have to turn it off and back on again to reset it. But other than that it's a great product. Now if they would just make a light strip I would love LIFX even more!

I would give the smart bulb 5 stars, except for a few issues with the app that I dislike. They are continually updating the app, so one hopes if I submit them the features that I think they should add they will eventually be added.
The good things are you can control the light from anywhere that you have internet not just in the house. Additionally, it can connect w/ my NEST thermostat so when I'm away it can randomly turn the light on/off to simulate someone being at the home. I'm curious what this looks like and the algorithm they used for this. As I only have one bulb currently this is less useful.
You can adjust the color via a color palette wheel or set it via preprogrammed moods. I wish once you had a color, brightness, etc that you liked you could add the setting to a list of favorite colors. I also wish you could program the alarm to use a different color that whatever the bulb was using last. I would prefer the alarm to replicate sunlight; however, I have the bulb set to 100% red at night as hoping it will help with night vision and there is some research that light in the blue spectrum at night makes it harder to sleep.
The fact the bulb doesn't require a base station to setup was a huge selling point for me as this is why I haven't purchased the Phillips Hue bulbs as I didn't like the upfront costs of a base station and having to buy multiple bulbs to start. I also like that this is a 1000 lumen bulb, which is closer to that of an incandescent 60W bulb than the what is normally a 60W equivalent smart LED.

I bought a 4 pack to save some $ on the price per bulb to test these out. Since I've set them up I've been extremely happy!
White Color Options -- Variety of white levels allows me to match the other lights I've not converted.
Color Options -- Blown away by the color reproduction! Granted you need to turn the brightness down to adjust through some of the colors, but it's amazing!
App -- the app has been updated a couple times in the last 2 months or so that I've had the bulbs! Good to see new features and building out existing options.
Integration to Echo -- This is AWESOME!!! Granted it's bleeding edge so there are some learning curves and teaching family how to use it took a min.. but once they were on board it's been no more touching the walls to turn lights on and off, change color, or brightness!!! VERY COOL!! Look out Jetsons!! :)
Overall, yes another pricey item, but VERY IMPRESSED! Prices keep coming down as more of us get on board! I'm excited to get more of these setup at my house, but no lie I'm still struggling with the cost!

Bright colors and convenient. When having more than 1 there are issues of losing connection to the bulbs, more times than would like it to happen

I purchased these Lifx lamps to get some warmth from LED fixtures. I could have used the white adjustablesurance, but figured for the slight extra, I could get ANY color I wanted.
The lamps are probably the BEST saturation of hues I've seen in a color-changer; especially below 50%. Any higher and you'll start getting the pastel versions of those colors.
Startup was a bit of a pain at first, but once I got the first one addressed the others fell into line pretty quickly. These appear to be the newest generation of the Lifx color-changers as the reset sequence follows the newer instructions on the website. :)
NO HUB NEEDED! Unlike many other lamps, these do NOT need a "starter kit" or hub of any kind. Just link them up to your network, install the app on your phone, tablet, or computer, and you're ready to go!
These DO work with "if/then" recipes! Allows you to do some pretty cool things with your new lighting. (Like blink blue when an email comes through, flash when you're within 5 miles of the house, etc...) Much FUN!
A tad pricey, but REALLY nice units! You get what you pay for...

I'm going to buy more of these, they're fun and look great. I use the Lifx app on my iPad and Samsung phone, they both work. the colors are remarkable. Below 50% intensity the colors are extremely rich, they turn more pastel above that. the whites are tunable in steps from 2500K to 9000K. They are brightest at about 3500K. With the software you can create presets and schedules. I have them fade up in the morning to wake me up. And unlike regular LED bulbs and a dimmer, you can dim these to a very very low level!

Purchased a LIFX after reading a review that describe better color with the new version bulbs. The bulbs do provide good color selection but room for improvement exists. Have Phillips Hue v2 installed as well. LIFX are WIFI while Hue are zigbee (proprietary variation). If you turn the switch off, the LIFX remember the last color setting whereas the Hue default to white. Although HUE was early player, the software interface is not as convenient as the LIFX software interface. If you want to set the temperature of the LIFX, use the software dial to tune the temperature. Hue is not that simple. The fade to turn-off feature of the LIFX worked with no challenges. The Hue fade to turn-off feature caused multiple lights to fade off once the lights turned on at a prescribed time (sunset). Have not expanded beyond 4 LIFX bulbs so cannot speak on the potential wifi saturation as more bulbs are added and other wireless things occur. The ability to set mood by color ambiance is a great feature. Bulbs are pricey, but LIFX just sent me an e-mail which announced price reduction for quantity purchases. Have not seen the quantity discount packaging in the stores yet.

Recently bought a house and decided to splurge. Heard great things about these and they did not disappoint. Awesome for parties, mood lighting, and the best part is the soft blue or turquoise color setting is great for lighting during a migraine. Even better I can use the app to turn off the lights from the car if I forgot.

Insert bulb, download the app and enjoy the many colors and preset options available. App allows you to dim, set timers and customize colors depending on your mood. Only gripe that I have and reasons behind not rating five stars is the syncing of more than two bulbs. White tones will sync perfectly but color mode will not if all are turned on at once. Hopefully, app updates in the future will fix this issue.

I use the LIFIX in my bedroom/office. It was simple to set up and use for the most part. I use it with the android app, and I also used IFTTT fade it on in the morning (as a kind of gentle wake up alarm).
95% of the time it works fine. However occasionally it seems to have connectivity issues, where changing a setting or powering on/off in the app won't do anything. It doesn't last long when it happens (a few tries and it will pick back up and work), but it happens a few times a week.
The biggest thing I wish it had though is the abliity to save colors in the app; so far as I can tell, you can't save presets - only use the slider wheel.
So it has some issues that can be a little annoying, but overall it works well and does what I wanted it to.

I had to choose between this model in a couple of other brands. Upon reading reviews from different sources the thing that stood out the most was this model apparently had the best color rendering of the mall. I can definitely vouch for this as the colors are absolutely beautiful and vibrant. I have three of these so far but plan on getting more. The app is very nice too although I did purchase a third-party app as well, and I use them both as they are both good at different things. Both apps let you group the lights by location so you can control more than one at the same time they are very, very cool. Definitely changes the mood and changes the appearance of your rooms depending on the color.

Have TCP lights & Wemo switches in my house, but this is my first color changing product. It connected fairly easy and has pretty good app. I like that it is self contained, but the cost is a bit high. Since it works directly on my wifi, I don't have to worry about another lighting gateway. If the current one holds up well, and I can find a decent sale, I may add more to my house.

Comparing to Hue and others the color of the LIFX is quite better and obvious in many settings. The white levels as well are quite good and cover a great range. The app is fantastic (simple but quite a few options) and the integration with my Logitech harmony elite, nest products and fun recipes with IFTTT round out the package. I considered docking a star for not having a switch but that's a company issue not this specific product. While the light has amazing control from the app, and has built in helpful options such as easily resetting the light from the switch without the app (if you left it on a dim color and need a bright white in the morning and can't find your phone), it would be nice if there was a wall switch similar to the hue products for better control as believe it or not occasionally that's easier than pulling up an app.

We looked at several other brands of smart bulb and this made the best sense for us. We were looking for bulbs that didn't require additional hardware to function. Screw it in, download the app, and go. Setup was easy and we plan to purchase several more. Scenes and effects are winners too.

Easy to setup.
Fits almost in all my lamps.
I wish I could afford to buy one bulb in every room. So far, I only have one in my living room on a floor lamp. Works perfect to set the mood for study sessions, parties or even just a movie.

LIFX has made LED bulbs that can cycle through the whole color spectrum. We had some fun over the holidays making rooms red and green to match christmas. They also dim much better than the Belkin Wemo light bulbs we've used before. These go down to 1%, which is not really useful, but works well for a slow sunrise style wake up. I just have the lights brighten from 1% - 80% over a 30 minute period, and I wake up refreshed. I don't even use an audible alarm clock anymore.
The only thing that keeps me from giving LIFX 5-stars, is that occasionally the bulbs will drop off the wifi. Switching power off and back on at the switch is enough to fix it, but it's annoying to do that when you're comfy in bed trying to turn off the lights downstairs.

I was looking for a bulb that could be controlled by my new Logitech Harmony Elite remote which has dedicated buttons for controlling lights. LIFX bulb reviews pointed out advantages over Philips Hue bulbs including no need for a hub and better saturated colors. All worked out really well and I ended up buying two more, one of which I gave to my son. He was so impressed that he went and bought another four. Integration with IFTTT is easy and works very well - can setup lights based on weather, sports scores, and myriad other on-line events. Highly recommended.
