So about the LIFX WI-FI LED Beam Kit... Yeah it’s a bit pricey, but boy is awesome. When it comes to an accessory like this I feel like it’s something that a particular type of person would be going to purchase, for a particular use case scenario. If that’s you then you may not get much from this since you’ve done your research but as for anyone else, someone who’s considering to buy this just to buy it? Well this one is for you. First impressions out of the box? Meh, the packaging was okay, but nothing to apple-ish (fancy). Took all of the pieces out, and counted the 6 bars and 1 corner piece that was included. Installation was pretty straight forward and I mean as long as your original bar is leveled horizontal or vertical then it’s almost impossible to mess up the rest as they are essentially extensions of one another and align perfectly. Now that it was installed, we can talk about the fact that when it’s turned off, it just looks like shiny white bar, I mean it’s just plastic sitting on the wall. After connecting the light to power, I opened my LIFX application to add it; took seconds. This is where things got good because at this point the light has been turned on but it’s turned down to around 10% still. Selected a theme of mine and it was instant love. This LED Beam Kit is absolutely stunning when turned on around 50%-75%. It could easily fill a moderately sized room and gives my entire room a studio vibe even though it’s only 1 of 4 lights in the living room. I use this light every day. It can change the entire vibe in literally seconds depending on what you select. If I had to recommend it I absolutely would. If you have the money, have thought about it, or are actively thinking about it, stop. Just buy it =)

My 5th lifx smart light. I've had great experiences with lifx products so far. Didn't expect the lights to be as bright as they are, and the colors are more vibrant when compared to the Phillips hue. Easy setup, and haven't had any connection issues since i had the beam. (Some of my bulbs drop their connections from time to time) Overall great product and would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to add flair to their home.

These Lifx beam light bars bring some modern touches to your place. It's really pleasant to look at and when placed on the walls strategically, it can look like modern art! They are a great conversation sparker when you have guests over. They are also extremely bright at 100%. Wouldn't recommend these for any bedroom lights since they're very bright. There are somethings I felt Lifx could have done better with the Beam. Here are my thoughts: - You can see the spaces where the lights don't shine in medium brightness and sometimes can see the individual diode lights. - The power cable interferes with the aesthetic with the Beam. I felt Lifx could of designed the wire flat so It wouldn't look too bulky. - The Lifx app is not that intuitive. It's somewhat confusing to set different scenes and scheduling. There is a definite learning curve on the app. - The Lifx Beam doesn't support scene animations (makes your scene move and come to life) when scheduling the color to activate Overall, I think these lights are too expensive for what it's worth.

This light was exactly what i needed for my room. I had a corner that was very dark and my two lamps werent enough to light the room up. This light bar overpowers the lamps and could probably light the entire room up by itself. The setup was pretty easy and seamless. Just note that the cable to connect the lightbar to power only connects to one end of the bar so make sure that end is on the correct side of wherever you planned on installing this.

Much better than its competitors. It’s CRAZY bright. Had a bit of trouble installing and getting all the segments to work but after that it’s been flawless. Makes a bit of noise though. That’s kind of annoying, but it’s a small complaint. Wish it were a tad less expensive.

The LIFX Beam is an interesting design that is surprisingly room filling as far as the luminance goes. Colors are very solid but be warned that the performance is pretty horrendous. They require the app to be open to continue running and lag severely in comparison to the Tiles.

At first I thought I wasn’t going to be able to justify the price when the Tiles are just $50 more. I’ve actually grown to love them as much as I love my tiles. They are really bright and were really easy to set up. I just wish they were a little cheaper.

Pros: Very bright lighting and easy to use app Cons: The only issue was it came with only one corner block and they do not sell them separately. So your design layout could be bland.

I have a mix of smart light throughout my house. I have grown to really like LIFX because they work without having to purchase additional equipment like a hub. The light bar is something that I have installed as a accent light in my living room and also I’m 2 of the bed rooms. The only negative I have is the adhesive for attaching it to the wall. Two works great out of the box but one it just doesn’t want to stick. I’ve seen others say they’ve had issues with losing connection … that has not been a issue that I’ve had. If you can find them I would buy one.

We are obsessed with these lights and have them all over our apartment! They connect with Alexa and have so many light settings on the app. Very easy to use and set up. Looks clean and modern, also such a huge space saver in small NYC apartments versus lamps. Best part it does not get hot the way normal lamps do.

The lifx beam is such versatile lighting, best in the business, I love the convenience of being able to choose any color combination, changing the mood of the room. I also use it to pair with my live stream on twitch to have my viewers be able to control and change the color of my room in chat to engage my audience

I love these lights - the brightness, the colors, the animations, but only when they actually work. Unfortunately, the Beam, like most Lifx products, need to be unplugged from power from time to time in order to function. Ironically, I use a Hue smart plug to turn the power off on my Lifx Beam once they go dark. It's such a bummer, too, because the colors on the Beam are pretty awesome. If only Lifx could resolve the issues that require their products to be power cycled, they'd have some serious winners on their hands.

Overall I'm happy with them but I've never gone over 10% brightness. Could light a whole room with them and I just was looking for accent lights. I found a dark corner in the living room where they work great, they are just to bright for my original location.

    Nice light, serious flaws

The light is surprisingly bright! If placed on a ceiling it can easily light up a medium sized room when set to 100% and 4000k. There’s a nice feature where you can “paint” multiple colors within each light when you create a scene. I created a sunrise scene to turn on in the morning and it makes a BIG difference to how my day starts. If it weren’t for the negatives, I’d have bought two or three more Beams. The deal killer for me is the extremely cheap “adhesive” on the mounting stickers/velcro. They’re BARELY sticky. It wasn’t just one light that got a bad sticker that slipped through QA. All six of the lights had the issue. I hung the Beam on a ceiling and it came off within a few minutes. The momentum and swing of the light that was attached to the magnetic power cable threw the light into one of my computer monitors. Not cool. I wound up going to Home Depot and purchased some proper double sided tape and there hasn’t been a problem since. So add another $15 to the cost of the light and a forty-five minutes to the installation. Another annoyance is that it doesn’t appear that you can edit the color or brightness of a scene. You need delete the old one and then create a new one. A slight annoyance is that the color accuracy of the lights doesn’t match the color wheel in the app. For example, if you select yellow in the app, the light has a greenish hue. Also, it buzzes like a florescent light. Not quite as loud, but loud enough to be annoying in a quiet environment. This is the first -and probably last- Lifx light I’ll buy.
