1-2-3 and you are up and running

I received the Linksys SE3005 Switch via the Linksys Friends + Family Program. What can you really say about a network switch that requires only 3 steps to be up an running. If it works as advertised not a whole lot! The Linksys SE3005 worked as advertised. Plug in the power adapter, connect to the upstream ethernet source, and connect your downstream ethernet devices and you are up and running! Why would one need a switch? In my case, my home isn't wired for ethernet so we have opted for wireless connections or powerline connections. I used powerline adapters to connect my devices that need a fast and reliable connection to the internet, TVs, game consoles, desktop PCs, and set top boxes (ie Fire TV). My powerline adapters have only a single ethernet port so being able to connect the Linksys SE3005 switch to the powerline adapter is a big big help when you need to connect more than one device at a location. Besides the convenience of expanding the number of ethernet ports, the switch is smaller than the one it took the place of and it feels like a quality device being made of metal rather than plastic.

    Not the model advertised...wrong picture

Linksys completely changed the configuration of this unit. The picture shows Ver 1, with all the lights in front & network jacks in back... the way I like it. HOwever, I couldn't find ver 1 at any BB, Ver 2 was the only version available. To confuse you more, it's under the same SKU # at BB as Ver 1, however, both the networks jacks AND lights are on the back in Ver 2.. with the power cord on the front, ughh - it's ugly no matter which side you have facing you. This new design is clearly intended to be hung on a wall, not sitting on a desk or entertainment center... other than that, the unit performs as advertised, i just don't like the design of the newer version 2 at all for asthetic reasons...

Solid switch; speed status lights are always nice

I like this switch. The lights on this unit not only tell you when devices are connected, but also what speed, which is greatly appreciated. The power light lets you know that the unit has power, which is a must for troubleshooting remote installations. The only thing holding back a 5-star review is that the power plug is on a different side than the network ports. Since this unit isn't designed for rack-mounting, this makes routing & tying off cables at a desk awkward because not all the cables are routed to the same place on the unit.

Nice, rather attractive small sized switch. Only about 3x5x1 inch in size, so you can fit it just about anywhere around your other computer equipment, and rectangular so you can stand it on its end if so desired instead of the those funny shaped models you sometimes see that would tip over. Also has mounting holes on the bottom side so you can hang it from a wall or rack. My only complaint that reduces it to four stars is that it uses a two prong AC adapter but with a narrow, yet tall AC/DC converter head, so it may not fit well onto crowded power strips and UPSs next to a fatter head - a small head with the AC/DC converter equipment moved a few inches away (like a laptop's) would have made for better design.

It doesn't get any easier than this. If all you need to do is split 1 internet connection to 5 or less, this is the product for you. No wireless, no fancy settings. Just plug in your main connection and plug other connects off it. No noticeable speed degradation. The only problem I have is it not obvious how to configure quality of service (QOS) where I can prioritize certain traffic. I have home office and my phone calls traverse the internet for me so I would like to make sure the voice traffic is given priority. This product supposedly does that but I can't figure out how to set it up.

This is about as simple as it gets. Need more ports, get this. No mess, no fuss, no confusion. It just works. I've had absolutely no issues with it whatsoever. I use this in my recording studio to connect multiple ethernet devices to my main and backup PC's. All of my devices connect and communicate without a hitch. Just get it.

I have always bought LInksys products and love them. I had to extend my network and I thought the SE3005 would be a great companion to my Linksys WRT3200ACM wireless router. I plugged it all up and it works great! I was surprised how bright the blue power LED is, this is the reason for 4 stars. There is no way to disable any LEDs on this unit. I do highly recommend this product if you don't mind the bright LEDs.

Back a few years ago you didn't have to worry about internet connectivity when dealing with home A/V systems. Now every piece of an A/V system has an ethernet port. I prefer to use wired ethernet connections to my components. Using this switch allows me to use one cable coming from my router to service all the components. Linksys is a name that I have confidence in due to owning previous Linksys components and I have not been disappointed.

I needed a replacement gigabit switch, but didn't want to spend a lot of money on one. I also needed it right away, so ordering online was not an option. This Linksys unit fit my needs. The only caveat that I should mention is that the indicator light per port, does not show you if it is connected at gigabit speeds vs. 100 megabit speeds. The switch I was replacing had 2 lights per port. If both are lit, it indicates a full gigabit connection.

I use this Switch to provide Ethernet dircet connection to my PS4, Xbox one, and Media Laptop I have hooked up to my Smart TV. I stream 4khd (I also play online games) and Netflix recommends 25 megabits per second so wifi doesn't cut it. This unit gives me speeds of about 45 megabits per second when connected to my Comcast Modem. It is a very small unit and easy to hide. Like I said it does what I need it to do.

Product does exactly what it states, splits ethernet signal among multiple ports, of which I have one port running to my receiver, one to my dvd/streaming device, and another running to another dvd/streaming device with a much faster connection than running a wireless network connection to those devices.

Easy to hook up, and works right from the start. If you need more ethernet ports to make life easier with your devices, this should be the one. You might need another ethernet cable, one more higher end, than the one provided, and the light on the device is bright, so make sure it isnt by your bed!

I needed a device to extend my ports on my router and I saw good reviews for the Linksys - 5-port Gigabit Ethernet Switch , so I gave it a try. So far so good. I needed it because I purchased the Arlo Pro security camera system and the Linksys gave me the extra port I needed for the Arlo base station. It works well with it.

The Linksys - 5-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch works great out of the box, no configuring required. After using the switch for about 30 days, my only regret is I did not purchasing the 8 port switch instead. It's only a few more dollars. I've found a few more devices to use on the network.

It's an unmanaged switch. Plugged in, threw a label printer, a TCP/IP printer and 2 terminals on it in 30 seconds. Network doesn't even see it, which is exactly what you want in an umanaged switch: move my data and stay outta my way. Would use again ++.

I purchased this switch for expanding a network in a small area for 3 extra people on a temporary basis. While I do not usually install a switch instead of ruining a new wire, I felt comfortable that this would hold up fine. 3 months, and the project has ended and it has given no problems.

I purchased this as I replaced my Spectrum router with my own Linksys router to get better wifi coverage in the house and to my new TV. This Ethernet switch helped me complete the task. Does great.

Was looking for something to allow me to connect multiple device using ethernet cables. Instead of running multiple games to my basement I only need to run one and use this device to split off from there. SO it works great. Have not noticed any signal issue.

My only issues are two fold and my own. First, I didn't realize that one of the ports is taken up as the connection to the router. So, a 5 port switch is really a 4 port switch. I also should have bought the 8 port. But, that is my mistake. You can never have enough ports.

Bought this because my router only had 1 LAN port and needed a second one. Easy to install and seems to be working well. Nice little unit for the price. Plus I still have room for expansion if need be.
