I guess you can say I'm old school! When looking for a wifi pcie card. Haha. I wondered by the wifi modems and saw these usb wifi. Completely didn't know they existed. Always used ethernet cables to my computers until had to have internet connection to my son's computer. Literally plugged it in and had internet connection. Signal is good and strong for his gaming needs

I use this for my gaming pc since the modem/router is far away to use a ethernet cable.
Most of the time, it does what it's supposed to do, but there are a few times where it would randomly lose connection. I hate when that happens during a quest and I get logged out from the server due to no connection.

Tried as a Replacement for Laptop WIFI Card

Was having WIFI dropping issues on my Del Laptop. Would drop WIFI every time I powered up, and sometimes while using the internet. Had to repeatedly try to reconnect. Thought the WIFI card was bad in my laptop.
The Tech guy at BestBuy suggested I try the LinkSys Adapter to access the internet on the Laptop. I tried it for 2-3 weeks and it was hit and miss, mostly miss in regard to accessing WIFI.
Tech support at Linksys wasn't much help, and in my opinion were call-center quality, just looking up issues on a computer (I could have done that).
I returned it and tried replacing my Spectrum router with a eero mess router (which Best Buy tech also recommended as a more costly alternative). I returned the Linksys adapter and sprung for the $300 mesh router. Its been 3 weeks and no problems accessing WIFI on the laptop, or on all other devices (iPhones, Ring security devices and camera etc.).

I bought a refurbished desktop from Best Buy without a wireless card. This adapter works great. I have a 1 gig fiber optic line to a new fiber optic modem. The speed to this adapter are great, no circle of death at all!

Our wireless router is about 20 - 25 feet away from this adapter in another room. The signal works great. The wireless router used is also a Linksys device. I am sure you don't have to have matching devices but it shouldn't hurt. Simple enough set up if you follow the directions. Linksys has been reliable.

My internal Intel NIC on motherboard must be dying or seriously has some sort of issue but it no longer connected to router. I found that when I disabled and then enabled the LAN, it took hours for it to become usable. Hence I decided to try this wireless device. Works like a charm! And I connect quickly to the Internet. Very easy to install too.

The Linksys Wireless-AC Adapter works great. Once the drivers installed, connecting to the WAP was simple. My only gripe is that the adapter is a little large, so gets in the way a little when plugged in to USB slots on the rear of a machine. I would have preferred they include a short extension cable so that we had an option to not directly plug in to back of machine.
