Having the indicator lights should help.

One says on, and the other blinks. Not sure why it happened, but according to the lights, it shouldn't have been happening. One other thing is the width. If you're using multiple ports, the width of this one prevents anything directly next to it.

WiFi for my desktop

Solid adapter, Linksys quality and reliability.

Motherboard-mounted changing it wasn't really an option so I looked up USB wireless adapters. Having used other Linksys adapters, I chose this one for its wireless protocol compatibility. Have had 1 disconnect since install awhile back. Solid adapter.
