I have our Time Warner Cable modem/router upstairs and this guy downstairs probably about 25 feet away. Gives the whole downstairs 5 bars on all TVs, Laptops, and Cellphones. I even went out in the backyard to our pool and still had 5 bars on my phone at the other end lol

Live in an old house! This helped!

My only wish is that it could be just one SSID. This device creates a new network so you have to decide which network to associate your devices with, not a problem for static devices like a dvr (just pick the strongest signal) but what do you do with your mobile phone?

The two (2) types of frequencies that Linksys extenders support are 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz. This particular feature of the unit allows you to choose where to best connect your devices at home or in the office to ensure stability with your local network and Internet connection. You can also disable the other network if you only want one frequency band to be broadcasted by the unit. Just simply access the setup page, go to Wireless then Basic Wireless Settings. Best Range Extender I've EVER owned
