Should be easier to connect
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The extender wasn't too difficult to connect to my dual router, but it connected only to the slower 2.4 ghz and didn't connect to the 5ghz. There are instruction on how to do this, but so far I haven't been able to successfully connect. I have quit trying to take a break and will try again with hopefully a new perspective.

It appears to work fine if access control to the AP is via password, but even after two hours with tech support, we could not get it to work with the MAC number access control I'm using on the 6100. BestBuy did a great job refunding my purchase and providing a second AP, so now I'm covered by two different APs. Too bad the range extender wouldn't play nice with another LinkSys device.

Great Boost to our Internet

This was a great solution...every easy to set up, and it has extended the reach our wifi network dramatically.

The signal still would not reach where I needed it even with this; placement of the unit took quite a bit of play before I was able to really use it properly. Does what it's supposed to, but depending on how big of an area you need to cover, you might need multiple repeaters.

Thank you for the feedback. In the range extender's user interface, it has a site survey option. It will show you the signal that your router is broadcasting. You can also bring a device where you want to put your extender and see if you can at least get three (3) wireless signal bars.

It extends the wireless connection but two downfalls: 1) needs to be within about 50 feet from main router (once considering a wall or two) 2) it creates a separate wireless connection. Devices don't switch back to the main connection if the extender is still in range. Overall, the app is straight forward and the product works, but we are looking for a different solution.

The placement of this device is normally affected by the capacity of the router and the environment. However, you can try relocating again the range extender and use the Spot Finder feature on its setup process to help you find the best location. With regard to its wireless settings, you have an option to use the same details as the router’s. If want to experience the seamless roaming feature, then we suggest having the RE7000 instead as it is the only range extender that supports the 802.11r standard. Email us at [email protected] so that we can have our Escalation Engineers assist you accordingly.

Iam out the garage a lot and have no problem get WIFI now. Bought another product and couldnt get it to work, so sent it back and bought this Linksy. Easy hookup. I used them to hard wire my computer and TV in my sunroom where my signal was very poor. Now I can stream Netflix and play online games without a problem. Great product, works better than I thought it would.
