I have Xfinity and they were out of pods so I tried this one. My Xfinity router had a stronger signal in my yard than this did which was mounted on the wall leading to my yard (Xfinity was at the front of the house). This was hard wired by ethernet, so this was not a signal issue from my router. The plug in ports were pretty fast though. I took this back since it was not improving my reach. Maybe I would have had better signal with other services? Not a terrible product, just did not work for what I needed.

* Place it in an area where there is still a good connection from the router.
* Use a handheld device (phone or tablet) to check for your router's signal strength. Once you can find a place where there is still 2-3 signal bars, then that's the perfect location for your extender.
* Set your router to use a permanent wireless channel such as 1, 6, or 11.
* Update or re-flash the firmware.

I got to part where it said it was too far away from main router, then I could never get back to that screen. I reset and even tried to do the plug-in method of connection, no luck. I'm no tech pro, but I'm better than 99% of people I run into. I eventually called tech support and they ran through troubleshooting issues with me for about 30 minutes and concluded that my unit was defective.

It is recommended that you place the extender halfway between the main router and the location where you want to extend the signal. Took us several tries to get setup, not quite as 'automatic' as it should have been, and certainly not as clear instructions as I would like. That said, works well and no complaints once configured. Which, btw, we are still not sure how we finally got it working.

Have tried many extenders, but with plaster walls and the fact I need to reach the second floor of my house it does the job just not that well.

Installation is more difficulty than it should be for a device that is just barely giving any connection. Instructions are well explained. Pretty user friendly but after multiple attempts at install and reinstall at multiple different places it has failed to produc a strong enough connection for me to justify a good review.
