    Great Powerful Router

Let me start this review by stating that I received this product for free as part of Belkin's Friends + Family Program. That being said I recently upgraded my dual band Netgear N300 router to the Linksys WRT ACS1900 Dual-Band Wi-Fi Gigabit Router and it's been working great me. I live in a two story brick house so connectivity near the router was always good, but the further out you went the weaker the signal. With this Linksys router both bands are very strong, and I am able to connect all my devices to both bands. With other routers some rooms in the hosue could only get a 2.4Ghz signal, but not the faster 5Ghz band. This router also gets a better signal outside. Previously I could only get a very wak 1 or 2 bar signal if I went outdoors. Now I can get a decent signal 10 - 15 feet away from the house, and that's good enough to stream music or video through my phone or tablets without any lag. The setup of the router was very easy. It took me only a few minutes to get the router unpacked, setup, and working with the devices on my network. Linksys also has an app that you can put on your smartphone/tablet called Linksys SmartWifi which allows you to configure your router, and manage devices, right from a phone or tablet. No need to log onto the web app to control your settings after the initial setup of the router. The app and web view give you the ability to see your devices show up graphically as a computer, phone, tablet, etc. and click on it, and setup controls. No need to figure out which tab to go to, and manually enter in IP or MAC addresses. People who may not be so technically savvy can still get into some advanced setup features with this router. Linksys also has a feature called "media prioritization" which allows you to select which devices will have bandwidth priority on your network. This is a great way for me to give my smart tv and streaming devices bandwidth priority on my network. This router does most of the tasks other routers do, but it makes it easier to find and manage those tasks in my opinion. The UI is very user friendly and is not as "complex" as other router setups. The only issue I have with this router is its size. It is very big, bigger than any other router I used. You can only set it up horizontally since it has 4 antennas on it. Other routers I used could be placed horizontally or vertically to save space. With this one you don't have the vertical option. So keep size in mind when you're looking at this for your current configuration. Outside of that it's been great. It was very simple to install, it's simple to control and configure, and the most important part is that I have great coverage both inside my house and extending outside. I don't have any slow or dead zones with this router anymore. If you had connectivity issues with other routers you may want to give this one a try.

I love the dashboard and its ease of use, but I was expecting a much stronger signal throughout my house. Not sure it warrants the highest rated router for consumers.

We're happy to know that you find the dashboard convenient to use. With regard to the strength of the wireless networks, there are a couple of steps that would help optimize it. Good router...just didn't fit my needs. Wasn't getting the wireless signal that I needed (and that I used to get from my ASUS AC66U. Like the WRT option on the router.

      Hi, Jim H,

Thank you for your feedback. We understand that you are getting lower wireless signal strength than you have expected. This router comes with four high-performance external antennas for maximum signal strength and better coverage and range. To help you optimize its performance, try changing the wireless channels of both bands. Also, check out this article to know the suggested position of the antennas according to your preference: http://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=138847

Email us the result at [email protected] so we can look closely into this.

This router is extremely sensitive to other 2.4 GHZ equipment in the area. If you have as I did a sound bar with a woofer connected on this band, the signal is totally blanked out. The 5ghz band seems to be OK, which forced me to buy a new computer (had other reasons) to get the 5ghz capability so I could use Wi-Fi while my TV with the sound bar was on. I think the device should be recalled.

AP has been fine so far.....does what it is supposed to do. It does seem to reboot itself more often than I would like but that's noted in previous reviews.

      Hi, Blooze57,

The WRT1900ACS router should provide you a stable Wi-Fi connection. If it keeps on rebooting, a firmware upgrade and reconfiguration are both recommended solutions. We would love to have one of our escalation Engineers help you in resolving this issue. Don't hesitate to email us at [email protected] with your contact details and the link to this review, anytime.

I received this product for free as part of Belkin's Friends + Family Program This router is amazing! I have never seen a router that has amazing range, advanced features and is so simple to setup and configure. With just a few minutes and my tablet I was able to fully set this up and it's been running perfectly. The coverage is better than any other router I have owned, fully covering my 3,600 Sq Ft home with excellent strength in ever corner. The speed is great too, and we have tested it with lots of large file transfers and media streaming on all kinds of devices.

    Great Router

I received this product for free as part of Belkin's Friends + Family Program. What I’m most interested in with a Wi-Fi router is how easy it is to set up, the coverage range, how fast is it, how reliable it is, and what added features does it come with. Setup The router was very easy to set up. I didn’t need the quick start guide, but it’s nice to have anyway. Really just plug and play with a few additional steps to rename the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks and set my own passwords. Coverage Range I can adjust the 4 antennas independently of each other to maximize coverage, so it worked better than my old router. Ideally the router would have been centrally located in my house, but instead it was towards the front corner where the office is. Still, it had great coverage with no dead zones. I’m anxious to see how it performs outside around my property (winter got in the way of this). Speed & Reliability There are many variables, but I found the overall speed and reliability as good if not better than my old router. I used both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz wireless channels with laptops, tablets, smartphones, Rokus, and a printer. I was able to get good speeds with no long interruptions. There were a couple times when I momentarily lost connection on my tablet, but it was restored within a few seconds, so I don’t know what caused it. Added Features Having a USB port is a nice feature – although for me it’s pretty essential in a router. I set up my external hard drive which was a pretty easy process, although it did take a few minutes to get up and running. There were no directions, but navigating around the Smart Wi-Fi app and my computer I was able to figure it out. I thought there should have been some additional documentation around this. Having a guest Wi-Fi is pretty standard now, but this is nice to have. If I have people over I don’t really care if they have the password to my main network, but because it’s the same as many of my other passwords it’s nice to have a separate network/password for them. The Smart Wi-Fi app was a nice feature and I liked being able to see what devices are connected on my networks. There isn’t a way of booting a device off (if somehow they navigated past the password), but just seeing them all is a good check.
