Tips for those thinking about an extender...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Linksys line of gear is notable but they tend not to have readily accessible documentation or videos to show some of the more "tricky" setups. So even a seasoned user setting up one of these can get tripped up because of the lack of information. If your the typical home user and your not going to worry about all the security settings or only install the minimal such as password login protection then it'll probably be a snap but if your a seasoned veteran and you plan to activate all protection schemes then get ready. For instance, if your router is setup to "reject" MAC addresses (which protects intruders from tapping into your internet service) then be sure you load the correct MAC addresses for BOTH channels (2.4 and 5) for the extender to access the router. The MAC address printed on the box label is useless in this case, something Linksys needs to document and explain better. You will need to obtain the correct MAC addresses for both channels by properly accessing your router and extender and applying them to your setup. Confused, call Linksys tech support, hopefully they'll understand your situation correctly the FIRST time around and get right to the point of fixing you up. The first extender I received was actually deemed defective by the Linksys tech (but was perfectly good as noted later) wasting better than a week and shipping fees. On the second round with seasoned veterans on both ends of the phone it took a while to sort out the communications (what the situation was) before realizing incorrect MAC addresses were being applied to the equipment setup because of the lack of documentation and explanation (you see, 1st level tech support doesn't typically get hit with the whole nine yards right off the bat, the first tech kept putting me on hold to confer with his boss about the more sophisticated setup that exceeded his ability). Otherwise even a sophisticated setup would be a snap (with a seasoned veteran or maybe even the home user who should really get in the habit of totally securing their home network). Overall, Linksys extenders are very good to have around making TV's and other equipment not buffer data so much because the signals are weak and getting garbled causing the equipment to request the data be sent again and again. Remember it's a RADIO! Even though you can't hear it imagine trying to listen to an AM radio one dark and stormy night far far away. It's a BUMMER and no different, in a way. Working great so far, get one!

Linksys
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Linksys AC750 Boost Range Extender did not work with my gateway. I tried several times but it never initialized and would not connect. I'm sure it works with other systems but it didn't work with mine.

Linksys wifi extender
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased Linksys as Netgear extenders wrtr not available or in stock at the time. I figured one was as good as the other. The Linksys extender works wonderful in my house compared to Wifi Xtra-Boost purchased over the internet which didn't work. Learned a great lesson to not believe internet promoting products computer products not in reputable stores. Later, googling Xtra Boost extenders I learned that it may have been a scam as one reviewer said the product was no good. Should have explored that product before buying. Got caught in believing and not facts. PS, I usually rate products as "good" over "Excellent" as I haven't compared one with another. Good to me means product works with no problems!

Worked ok fo a while
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Fairly easy to follow instructions that don’t work on the first attempt. Infrequent but sometimes annoying issues with lag and dropped connections from day one. Bandwidth has been okay, about half my service level. Recently, the usual restart didn’t work and a complete reset and reconfig was required. Dropped connections are now very frequent on some connected devices. More troubleshooting to go...

Setup was not that easy.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It took a bit to get set up as it wouldn't recognize the router even though it was within 3 feet of it. But once I was able to get it set up, it works well.

Helps with internet access
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Boys are easily distracted so I have to strategically space my four sons throughout the house. Unfortunately I found that the internet was faster near the router. So this helped to balance out the reception.
