Great wi-fi router! Setup using the mobile app on iPhone is relatively straightforward. Did have some issues with the LinkSys mobile app after set up, but their tech support is very good and got things fixed.

As a very junior IT professional, I love when things just work. Plug-and-play is the absolute best, and I’m finding myself having increasingly less patience for things I have to troubleshoot at home. So, you can imagine my displeasure when this router worked for an entire day before causing connection issues with every single device in my home. It’s not all bad, I suppose. The setup process was incredibly easy, and I like how simple the Linksys app makes things. It’s also nice how this model supports switching into a mesh network later if you get extra nodes somewhere down the line, and the process for installing them is pretty simple. Honestly, everything about setting up the router was simple. The best part is, for a whole day after the router just worked, and I had noticeably better connection speeds. Also, the ability to force the router to calculate the best channels to put the network on was super nice, because my building has terrible interference on the default channels. The problem is, sometime in the middle of the night, this router started behaving oddly. Random devices started quickly dropping the connection and reconnecting, and some devices just couldn’t find the network at all. I spent the entire afternoon troubleshooting to no avail, and getting more puzzled as to what was going on all the while. The problem wasn’t confined to a single class of devices: from gaming consoles to beat-up Androids that served as MP3 players, and from newish iPhones to computers that should have been retired years ago, the problem was present in all of them and it was always a random selection of devices affected. After the problem affected every device at once at some point in the afternoon, I decided to just reset the router, but this didn’t fix anything. My personal rule about devices like this is that if a day of troubleshooting can’t fix it, it’s not worth it. While I’m sure that not everyone will have the same experience I did, I will say this: if it works flawlessly for you like it did on the first day I used this router, fantastic. If it doesn’t? Just exchange it for a different router. A router is a router, and swapping to a different model won’t hurt you.

      Hi, FrozynHeart,

We certainly understand how you're feeling towards this experience and we apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. Were you able to check if the router is running on the latest firmware version? If you haven’t yet, please have it check and update to the latest version. We can also try to relocate the router to an open area. Sometimes, the signal gets reflected, refracted or absorbed by the obstruction which includes cabinets, mirrors, glasses, metal objects, thick walls, and ceilings. Email us at [email protected] so our Escalation Engineers can further assist you. Include your contact information and the link to this post for our reference.

      Hi NYBob,

This is totally unexpected, as the Linksys Hydra 6 is designed to deliver high-speed Wi-Fi 6 technology to consistently keep your connection going strong. Wi-Fi speed can also vary with the router placement, subscription speed, number of connected devices, wireless interference, environmental conditions, and building materials. Consider utilizing the channel finder feature to let the router automatically choose a channel with minimal traffic.
