It really doesn't get much simpler to set up a product! Even if your not a person who is very knowledgeable with tech you won't have any trouble setting this up and extending your wireless reach! This will extend your network, but it creates its own SSID and doesn't automatically switch to that network. So for example if you install this on your third floor and your router is on the bottom floor you will need to choose that network on a mobile device each time you needed the coverage where you extender is. This isn't that big of a deal as it's very simple to switch once it's setup and if it's a device that stays where the repeater is it wouldn't matter because it would always use that SSID. If your a frequent traveler this device gives you the ability to take this and an Ethernet cable with you and create your own secure wifi network in a hotel instead of using the free hotel wifi which I'm not a big fan of! Overall, if you need just to extend your network or create your own on the go the Linksys Maxstream should definitely be on your shopping list.

This is a great product (really a 4.5/5) for anyone looking to expand their wireless coverage. I combined this product with the Linksys EA9500 which definitely makes the set up slightly easier than using a different branded router. I would recommend this product. Set-up (5/5): It took about 5-10 to unbox, setup, and fully connect to the network. It has WPS and browser based setup so there is flexibility. I would say that even an inexperienced user could set this up easily, as long as they understand what they already have set up and the various network/internet terminology. They also include an AWESOME tool that tells you whether the location of this extender is appropriate or not. Linksys is doing a good job in the set up and interface side of things. Compatibility/flexibility (5/5): if combined with certain Linksys Routers, this unit will copy the existing settings and allow for "seemless" connectivity. If you pair with non-Linksys router you will be creating an additional network or access. The awesome thing is that it includes an Ethernet port so you can extend the network and have ethernet connectivity available. The downside is there is only ONE ethernet port, so if you are extending your network through ethernet (therefore creating a wireless access point) you will not be able to plug in any other ethernet devices. Range & Connection (4/5): This product is a 4.5/5 overall, and this category brings it down. The range is good and will definitely give you increased coverage when placed in the right location. However, the hand-off between the linksys EA 9500 and this unit was not seemless as multiple devices would drop connections randomly. This was only after this unit was installed and using the duplicated settings. If you have any other set up I highly doubt this will be an issue. Summary: This is really a 4.5/5. It only loses out a bit because of its non-seemless handoff with Linksys routers compatible to create a truly extended network. Set up is super easy and intuitive. Definitely extends range.

I have a Netgear R6400-100NAS(AC1750) router, however I wasn’t getting strong signals in the corner of my house. I connected the RE7000-AC1900 range extender. Setup took about 10 minute after I tried twice. The range extender creates another SSID. For instance, if my SSID was Home/Home-5g the extender would create Home_ext/Home-5g_ext. I was worried about was the printer (Epson workforce 845) setup on my network. I had no problem printing was the printer was connected to Home and my laptop was connected to Home-5g_ext. One bad thing I can say is how big the extender hangs from the wall plug. I hope Linksys reads my review and take my advice. I am pretty sure they can not shrink. SOO I recommend building its to cover both wall plugs and have additional wall plugs on the units so users can plug other devices.

Our home had a few areas with poor signal and even some dead zones. This Linksys Wi-Fi range extender has not only eliminated the dead zones, but also boosted coverage and internet speeds in areas that were lacking. It is capable of extending Wi-Fi range up to 10,000 sq ft (I even get a great connection outside on our deck), while also providing reliability and speed. Additionally, setup is simple, especially if your router supports Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS). You simply press the WPS button on the range extender and your router, then they connect quickly! To further simplify setup, this device has Spot Finder Technology, which you can use to find the optimal location for your range extender. I have yet to find anything I do not like about this Linksys Range Extender!

For fair disclosure, I consider myself to be a novice techy….I know just enough to be dangerous, but not enough to be an expert. Tech and Spec. According to the supporting documentation, published white papers and other articles, the Linksys Max-Stream AC1900+ WiFi Range Extender is designed to provide an extended range to your WiFi with MU-MIMO. It also has the ability work with all routers and compliments a network that doesn't currently have MU-MIMO. The RE7000 features wireless seamless roaming, cross-band technology, and a multi-mode to switch between repeater and access point. The form of this new gigabit range extender is very nice. Sleek form design. Only challenge one might have is if you have a sideways outlet you may have a bit of a hard time keeping it from slipping out of an outlet since it does not have a rotating plug in the back to accommodate this type of outlet setup My Experience I don’t currently have a range extender in my residence nor have I ever had one. So this is a new item for me to add to my existing network. I have recently just upgraded to the Linksys Max-Stream AC5400 Mu-MIMO Gigabit Router with MU-MIMO (model EA9500). The signal strength had dramatically improved with this new router already. I am hoping to reach even better signal strength with this extender. Upon opening the sealed box the typical clean packaging is in play. Very well protected and all the item you need are in very plane site and easy to unpack. Extender Setup The setup guide is a very simple 4 step setup process. One of the nice features in the setup is how Linksys created a very easy to see and understand process to make sure you know the extender is connected with a simple LED indication on the front of the unit. Setup is pretty straight forward with step 1 plugging in the range extender near your router. Step 2 the LED indicator will start blinking orange. It is important to wait for the LED to blink orange before going to step 3. Steps 3& 4 is connecting the extender to your router for each bandwidth you have. I have two with my router so I need t0press the WPS button on your router and then press the WPS on the side of the extender. Now you repeat this step twice if you are setting up a 2.4 Ghz and a 5. Ghz network. The LED will turn solid green when connection is successful. If the LED starts to blink continually orange the connection has failed. If the LED stays lit orange then the connection to the router is weak and you need to relocate the extender to get better connectivity. Personally I think they should have used another LED color like purple for a weak connection. However, here is the piece of information they did not tell you. If you have a router that uses Max-Stream, the router will automatically setup the extender to work with the router. I have a Max-Stream router and I did not know this. Why this is important. After you connect the extender to the router you need to access the range extender settings after setup to tweak the final settings. The range extender has its own access interface. I was struggling at first to get access to the interface and could not figure out why I was having trouble. What I found out was because I have Max-Stream the router was already in process of connecting it to itself and making all of the tweaks automatically. Cool feature. But, I had to do some online reading to find out this fact. Location of Extender. Now I had to try a couple of different locations for the range extender. After placing it in a couple of locations, both on the first and second floor the signal indicator showed a solid orange instead of solid green. What appears to be happening is a few of the walls in our house have extra sound proofing materials in them causing the signal to be obstructed. The final location was on the second floor in the middle of the house with open access to the entry foyer. This large open space area allowed the signal to reach the extender and to provide the best overlapping range. As a result, I got the solid green LED which is what you want. Signal Strength. The signal strength is very strong with the extender and it has made a difference. I have mention in other reviews that I have a rather large 2 story home with a basement. With my Max-Stream router we have increased our signal strength from 75% to 80% on the first and second floors to now having 100% signal strength throughout the first and second floor. Now I know that results are not going to be the same for everyone. But after making the adjustment and testing the signal strength and access to the extender it has increased and remains constant at 100% full bars throughout both floors of the house. Overall, I am quite impressed and very satisfied with the new extender. I would recommend this to anyone that need to enhance and extend/improve the signal range of your WiFi signal throughout your network.

This is an interesting product. Oir house is around 4000sq ft. And our router is smack dab in the middle. We decided to usethe extender in our western most room so my husband can get wifi in the detached garage. It used to be spotty, but this product made it perfect for him to pull up work orders and dispatches on his wifi only tablet.

Linksys has created a powerful little range extender that is easy to use. Depending on how you set it up, you don't even need to do anything to see the benefits. Best of all, it plugs into the bottom socket of a two-gang outlet without blocking the top outlet. I went ahead and set it up both ways to experiment (there is also an Ethernet port on the bottom, but I didn't try it out). The first way was to plug it into an outlet and connect to the wireless network it sent out. Once I connected, I navigated to extender.linksys.com, a web app that Linksys configured on the device to aid in setup. I walked through the various screens with ease and was able to set up the extender in a few minutes. Using this method, I created two networks (5 GHz and 2.4 GHz) with SSIDs that were different than my router. They offer a neat tool as well once the setup is complete that they call the "Spot Finder" tool. It's a graphical indicator that helps you place the extender in your home. You try to find the medium between too close to your router to offer much benefit and too far to get a strong enough signal. Later, I set it up with a second router using WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup). If you have a WPS-enabled router, all you need to do is press the WPS button on the router, followed by pressing the WPS button on the side of the extender. A few seconds later, the device is configured. You can verify this through the web app. Configuring the device this way sets the wireless network(s) up with the same SSID and settings as the router, which can make the transition between router and extender more seamless. All in all, great device and easy to use. I would recommend it if you need to easily extend your wireless network across your home.

This was purchased at the same time as the new LinkSys Max-Stream AC5400 gigabit router. i knew i had 1 room that would need a stronger signal and i wanted to have the router and range extender be from the same manufacturer. so, after doing a lot of research and finally deciding, i chose LinkSys over many other competing range extenders. This device is very easy to configure and admin - just follow the included instructions in the box. then, set it and forget it. it just works. It was little expensive for an extender, but i wanted the higher speed and same manufacturer and brand for the router and extender to ensure better compatibility. So far, this is working as expected...no dead spots, no drops and, most of all, no compatibility issues.

Boosts My Wi-fi Signal on the Other Side of House

I plugged the Linksys MaxStream RE7000-AC1900 Wall Plug In Range Extender into an outlet on the opposite side of my house from where my router is located. This side of the house is where my main tv is located. I stream most shows and movies there, so the faster the wi-fi, the better the experience, and it does seem to be an improved experience after installing the Range Extender. The setup was really easy; anyone can do it and it only takes a couple minutes.

The setup was easy and there is only one minor negative. The set up instructions do not say that the extender will have a different name than the main Wi-Fi router. This means that devices will not automatically connect to the extender unless the extender is added to the device with the main router's password. After the devices are connected to the extender, it works as advertised.

Great Wi-Fi extender for Max-Stream routers

I received this Linksys Next-gen AC Max-Stream AC1900+ Wi-Fi Range Extender to cover the weak signal, outside our all brick home, from my Linksys Max-Stream AC5400 MU-MIMO Gigabit Router. The quick start guide instructions to install the extender were easy to follow. However, finding the "sweet spot" to place the extender was not well explainded by Linksys. The back of the box makes you think it is part of their app and you can use your phone to place the extender (see photo). I looked all through the Smart Wi-Fi app and searched online for an answer without success. I finally looked through the setup menus and located the Spot Finder at http://re7000-xxx/wireless/spot_finder.shtml (xxx= last 3 digits of MAC address for the extender - see photo). I really think Linksys should make this more clear. Hopefully Linksys will read this review and add it to their app. I had no problem connecting to the extended network, and found the reliablity the same as the router. I would recommend this extender to anyone who has deadspots in their Wifi and already owns a Max-Stream router. Pros Extends a home Wifi signal without dropping connection No loss of speed or connectivity Cons Spot finder located in browser window Front outlet omitted

We have a Linksys router but our tech area is in a corner of our home so we need a booster to help the WiFi signal reach my office and master bedroom for Netflix and other streaming services. This booster is easy to set up with fairly simple directions. Just walked around the house trying different plugs to see what the best range on the booster was. The light on the front let you know if you it is receiving a strong or weak signal. Once we found the optimal spot at the edge of the strong range for our router this booster we easily able to cover the rest of our 3500 sq foot house. We run multiple items at a time including video, streaming services, and computers and have not had any issues.

I picked up two fo these to extended the network coverage from my main router. They were VERY easy to setup as access points. Only took about 10 minutes each. The coverage was decent, but not great. Most likely because they need to be plugged directly into a power outlet. Low and they were blocked by furniture in my home. I ended up exchanging them for two Linksys RE9000 Extender/Access Points. That model fit the bill. It allowed me to place them in a better position and I get amazing range now (I can get about ½ block from my house and I am still connected.

Time from unboxing to up and running less than 10 mins. This is a great way to expand your Wi-Fi to dead zones in your home. Or if your like me I didn't have any dead zones. But I did have some slower zones there I only had a bar or two. And running some speed test I was only getting about half of my 100mb service. But not any more, I now have no drop off in speed any where I go around my house or out side. And if your router supports seamless roaming you can hop from your router to this extender with out missing a beat. I would highly recommend this Wi-Fi extender. The easy to follow software instructions will have you up and surfing the web out in your garage in no time. I added a photo just so you can get an idea of the actual size. If you have any questions or concerns about this product just ask.

The Linksys MAX-STREAM AC1900 Wireless-AC Dual Band Repeater with MU-MIMO is a great product with few limitations. Setup is extremely easy. Even the extreme computer-illiterate should have no problem setting up the repeater. You can setup the repeater as an access point through a wired connection or wireless connection. WPS is an option for setup, however you cannot use this option if our security is set to WEP. If you have an RJ-45 jack free, I highly recommend using it. Speed tests show that there is not drop in speed if the repeater is wired to your router. However, if using the repeater while wirelessly connected to your router, the speed drops to about 50% of what it would be if connected wirelessly to your router. All in all, I would highly recommend this product!
