Customers enjoy the Velop AC1300 Dual-Band Mesh Wi-Fi 5 System's ease of use, expanded Wi-Fi coverage, and strong signal. Many appreciate the improved range and performance compared to single routers, finding setup straightforward. A common concern, however, is the relatively high cost.

This is a great upgrade to extend coverage in a large apartment or multi-level home. The setup itself is very very easy. I had no issues whatsoever from start to finish. The only feature I had in my previous router that this doesn't have is the live network data feed. The ability to see how much data a certain device or connection is using was very useful to me.

Mixed Feelings - Hardwire the nodes!

So I had been looking at this online and was well aware that this product is a tier down from the tri-band system. That being said, the literature that was available to me online indicated the system to be three separate AC1300 nodes, which I thought would more than cover my needs. I needed a mesh system to cover approximately 3000 s.f. of area, including an outbuilding in my backyard. After keeping an eye on it for a couple of months, it went on sale and I jumped on it. Upon getting home, I was immediately disappointed to see the labeling on the box indicating that this was for a basic plan, up to 100 Mbps. My connection is 1Gpbs. I had half a mind to jump right back in my car.... but I was already home. Setup was super simple, albeit, somewhat time consuming setting up one node at a time, spending at least 10 minutes on each node. Up and running reasonably fast with very simple mobile app-based instructions. I ran some speed tests before setting up the second node. I was very relieved to see speeds between 500-600 Mbps (!) from just about anywhere within 15 feet, provided no more than one wall was inbetwixt. Then I plugged in node 2 at the opposite end of my house, and 3 in my outbuilding and ran some more tests. Node 2 was at a perfect location (according to the app) yet it consistently maxed out at 100-150 Mbps. To be fair, this is exactly as advertised on the front of the box. Node 3 out back was running at about 60-70 Mbps, not surprising considering it was definitely getting its connection from the slower node 2 and had several exterior walls in the way. All in all, it did what the box said it would, I was just hoping it would do a bit more. Then I decided to try hardwiring the node at the opposite end of the house, see what effect that had on things. Now, node 1 & 2 are each capable of hitting the 500-600 Mbps over WiFi, the node in the garage did not see any improvement. All in all, good system that can become great if you already happen to have or are willing to run cat6 cable run to certain strategic locations.

Decent WiFi. Wish it would reach a little further. Customer service is great when needed. Would recommend getting one for each room of the house.

I got it set up pretty easy but it kicked everything off the next day. It’s been fine since I set it back up so here’s hoping that continues. These are more than adequate for most current “high speed Internet” because most service providers cap at 100. The range between nodes is surprisingly decent in my 1960s sprawling house with lots of walls and hard surfaces.

I have a ranch style home and have never been able to get Wifi throughout the entire house. WIFI extenders never have been able to get it done. 500 dollar routers have been able to get most of the house covered. I should have bought this Mesh system a year ago when I first heard of them. It Covers my entire house! Including my back Porch and Garage. Fast, no lag, seamless WIFI throughout my entire home. Easy setup using an App on my phone. I am so happy with this Product.

Got it for $99 on sale. Bought two more sets for extended family, but the 3 unit version. It’s great for a small house 2,000sqft. If you have larger house get the 3 unit version. If you are paying for a lot of speed from your ISP provider as in 200 or faster buy the Tri-Band version not the dual band. 200mb or less the dual band is all you’ll need. Extends to patios and Ring security products work great. Major upgrade from single Asus AC1900 router, and extender.

Great when working but frequently drops connection

    Posted .

Set up was easy with the in app directions. The mesh network has the ability to extend your range significantly. However it causes frequent signal drops when connected to nodes. The drops are quick and wouldn’t effect web browsing but when streaming or on any type of VPN or VM it causes a complete disconnection. This is incredibly disruptive. The support team suggested it was my service provider or my modem. After confirming my signal strength through fiber and upgrading the modem to the latest CM1000, the issue still persists. Linksys will not admit it is their mesh system causing the dropped service, but we are running out of variables to test. End of the day, I’d recommend a mesh network to most folks, but not this system.

      Hi diclem11,

Your experience caught our attention and we would like to make things right. Please send us the link to this post and your phone or case number at [email protected] so we can review your case if there was a breakdown of the process. A dropping connection is totally unexpected if the nodes are equipped with the latest firmware and place on the optimal spots. We'd like to have an Escalation Engineer check this out for your and provide further diagnosis.

Hope to hear from you soon.

I bought this system first hoping it would extend wifi range throughout my house, it didn't end up being quite powerful enough. I had to upgrade to the next level up. It is easy to set up and use though.

When I moved to my new home, I had a hard time getting a signal in various areas of the house due to the walls and I guess my ISP's modem/router was only good for small condo-sized homes without lots of walls. I bought the 2-pack Velop nodes and the installation was super easy, via the Linksys app. It's easy to follow and set up, has lots of neat features such as device controls and you can even assign usage times for specific devices (if you have kids, this is a must!). I get great speeds and haven't had any wifi disconnect issues whatsoever on any of my thousands of devices. This is a great product and well worth the money.

Linksys Velop Wi-Fi Mesh 3 Pack

Our mission is converting a training facility into an Air BnB so that we can generate some income from it during the pandemic (went to online training instead of brick and mortar). Since we have 3 floors to the building, I was asked to setup a Mesh network so people on all floors could get Wi-Fi (originates in the basement). I chose the Linksys AC1300 3 pack, setting one up connected directly to our modem in the basement, one on the first floor, and one on the second. Based on both internal Linksys test program (downloaded onto my IPhone) and an independent speed test program ( Ookla Speedtest) I was able to verify that we are receiving good speeds on all 3 floors (some deterioration per floor, but the floors are about 6000 sq ft each). The people managing the BnB report our first users were very pleased with the Wi-FI capabilities they experienced! Very easy to setup (I'm 70 so if I can do it anyone can!), following download of application onto my IPhone. Setup/linkage of each extender took about 5-10 minutes.

    Works great with limitations

Works great with limitations, those being distances between connections & walls. Easy set up, great software, but just doesn't cover the square footage as advertised. Best Buy/Geek Squad did their best, but I would have had to completely uninstall, return to store and get a higher model ( no guarantees ). Or have a tech come out for $99.99 and find out the same thing I did, then go back to store and buy bigger model. I was just ready to go back to my ASUS router with wireless and ethernet, but then decided to use ethernet connected to my problematic Nodes and have a combination system. Not my intention, but it works, and the software was the final factor in keeping my original purchase. It took me two days crawling around under desks connecting wire & plugs and getting placements. Basically, I spent $275 for software which I like. Bottom line: Over advertised in capability, and probably only works in ideal conditions.

I was using a 5th Gen Airport Extreme extended by a 4th Gen. This setup worked well for a long time. But as more and more devices were connected it really started showing it's age. This new Linksys Velop showed an absolute marked improvement in signal strength, range, and speed. Just wish I'd bought 2 while they were half off

I am very pleased with this purchase, it is not the latest generation of mesh, but does a great job for my system. Easy to set up, one unit at a time over blue tooth. Now I have good WIFI coverage over the whole house. My main computer is plugged into the unit that is also plugged into my modem. This arrangement was easy to setup once the first unit was activated. It was easy to add the other two units in a daisy chain to the mesh network. Each unit has two ethernet connections on the back and I was able to have my older laptop connect via ethernet to my farthest unit. Now my laptop has WIFI disables and uses ethernet as if it was directly wired into my network. Also, internet speeds are 25% faster (maxed out now) with Velop than they were with my previous traditional AC 1200 router wired the same way. The Best Buy price was not the best, so as with most of my other purchases, I was able to price match to reduce the cost.

Setup was easy with my phone, took about 20 -30 mins and I immediately saw the difference in internet speed throughout the house. Because of the stay at home orders this is the longest everyone has ever had to be in this house and we're all working from home so this was extremely necessary. I gave it 4stars and not 5 because on one saturday it just stopped working. My modem worked but both nodes stopped working without warning. I had to re-set which took far too long to fix but ultimately it started working and haven't had an issue since.

the Linksys Velop works extremely well in line-of-sight applications. However, most homes have walls and corners. At 3300 square feet, I was sure the original three we purchased wouldn't quite do the job. So to get around this I found I had to double the number of nodes we have in our home. I wish the advertising had been a little clearer I would have bought six nodes the first time. but it was extremely easy to add the new nodes and wow what a difference it made in the house. Great Job Linksys thank you and thank you Best buy for the info!!

I’ve tried google wifi with their three pucks. Those were so limited in what they could do but were reliable (all hardwired). You couldn’t turn off dhcp, disable the firewall, put them all on bridge mode, etc. Next I went to Orbi. Got orbi all setup and switched it to AP mode. As soon as I switched it, I noticed clients dropping their connections at least once a day which was annoying me as everything in my house is a smart device. Orbi did have the ability to disable the firewall, put them in bridge mode (ap mode), disable dhcp, etc. AP mode also messed up the Orbi app with it saying a satellite was offline. Finally I went to Linksys Velop. Love these things so far! Was simple to put them in. Super reliable, speeds are 300mbps+ on wireless. Bridge mode was simple to configure. App works flawless. Love them!
