Customers are saying

Customers enjoy the Velop AC1300 Dual-Band Mesh Wi-Fi 5 System's ease of use, expanded Wi-Fi coverage, and strong signal. Many appreciate the improved range and performance compared to single routers, finding setup straightforward. A common concern, however, is the relatively high cost.

    Excellent Home WiFi Option

The Linksys Dual Band Mesh WiFi System is a great option for most homes. It is rated to cover a home up to 4500 sq ft. Now, before you say "I don't have a home that size so I'll look for another option," let me remind you that most of us spend time outside in our yards and we definitely want to stay connected with wifi when outside, right? Of course. I used the first two nodes to cover my home and into the driveway since that seems to be something I'm always doing as I pull into or out of the drive. The third, I setup as close as I could get to my backyard so that I could extend coverage as far as possible. Let's get to the nuts and bolts. The packaging of the Linksys Velop system was very well done. I've come to expect this with Linksys products and it serves as a sign of the quality of the product that is inside. Once unboxed, you notice that the Linksys feels incredibly sturdy and well-built. The nodes look nice and can blend into pretty much any home decor or be easily hidden behind a TV, vase, or picture. One thing I didn't like is that there is a blue LED light on the top of each node. This may be fine for a living room, but is annoying if placing somewhere where you want complete dark at times like a bedroom. I wish there was a way to disable that light via the app. Setup was very easy. Simply plug in (hard wire) one of the nodes to your network via an RJ-45 cable (3 included). Once that is done, place the other two nodes as close to the edge of the coverage area of the first node to ensure maximum range. You can choose to overlap as much or as little as you choose. The app guides you through the installation process and I was able to be up and running in around 15 minutes from start to finish. I would say most could easily do it within 30 minutes or less. I have 75 Mbit service through my Internet Service Provider. I was able to stream UHD on 1 TV, HD on 2 other TVs and a laptop, and surf the web on a cell phone and second laptop with no issues. Like I said, this unit should be able to provide coverage and speed for your average to average+ households. No need to go out and buy a system 2x+ the cost. In conclusion, the Linksys Velop Dual-Band Mesh WiFi system was very easy to setup and provided enough options to via the free app to maintain your WiFi system. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to replace or expand their current system. The fact that it isn't Tri-Band shouldn't worry you as I find the Tri-Band systems to be overrated. Pros: *Setup *Coverage area *Speed *Cost *Design/Build Quality *Packaging Cons: *Blue LED status light

    Fast and Slow

The WiFi speed is erratic, goes from really fast to really slow. When it’s good it’s good. Another issue is that my devices do not sync up to the nearest node which I would think would improve performance. I recently moved my modem and my Velop router node to a different location, hoping to get a more consistent result. This change, seems to have helped a little.

      Hi, Mark25,

There might be some wireless interference that is causing the Wi-Fi speed to be erratic. You can try using the channel finder on the Linksys app to help optimize your Velop system. Meanwhile, wireless clients such as mobile phones, have Wi-Fi drivers that dictate roaming characteristics. The Velop system supports roaming but, does not manage how or when the devices roam. To isolate, you can try turning the Wi-Fi off on your device and turning it back on, this should force the device to connect to a stronger node.

It was not originally clear to me what the difference in an AC1200, AC1300 etc. actually was! The number just refers to square footage Strength and not to system compatibility!

I had great expectations for this product. I had hope that it was solve by issue with Internet coverage at the back of my house. It kept needing to be reset and I just wasn't getting the job done. The app kept telling me to put them closer but that defeated the whole idea of getting the Velop in the first place. Would I recommend it to a friend is hard to say each situation is different.

      Hi,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. This is an odd behavior for the Velop system.

It is possible that physical interference is the main cause of the intermittent connection. We can have our Escalation Engineers assist you with the placement of the Velop nodes.

Send us your contact details at [email protected] along with the link to this post as a reference.

We hope to hear from you soon.

Linksys has been solid in the past. So when looing for a newer system when my e3000 died I researched and found mesh wi-fi. Being a loyal customer I decided to buy these even though it was a little more than I wanted to spend. My review? It's great after you restart the system twice a day. With the current situation and working from home, restarting the system twice a day just doesn't work. I've contacted support twice and they had me reset the system, which is a pain when you have smart home devices connected to the network and need to configure again. After changing settings on settings it still doesn't perform like you would expect it. I can plug directly into the ISP modem with no issues. I connect to Velop and I drop connections or get SLOW internet speeds. I didn't spend the money I spent on this system to have to restart it while doing my job, Anyone interested in buying a used, less than spectacular mesh wi-fi product?

I needed a device that could extend my wifi signal through my two story house. Setup was NOT easy. I usually can get electronics setup pretty good by myself but this left me stumped. The customer service was great and helped me get everything started. There are three "nodes" in this system. The signal drops continuously. It will be there one moment (blue light) and the next it will light up orange (too far) then red ( not connected). These happen for the two that are away from the main "node" which is connected directly to the router. This is supposed to be for a 4500 square foot house. My house is not that big.
