It is easy to install and works quickly. It does require to be plugged into the wall so sometimes it gets in the way.

    Unreliable Linksys Velop

I bought it as my entry into mesh network around reviewing few other products. However this Velop gave me a lot of problem during setup. Later when I switched over to wired connection it crashed and wouldn't come back up. When it was up, it's running fine but ... I returned this and bought Netgear Orbi and that has been working perfectly. I had no issue with Orbi during install and I had no issue with daily issue for 6 months now.

This system is awesome! I wasn’t able to stay in range to get the connection I want without buying another node but even still it works awesome considering that!

I went for the sales talk and brought this product. My area has such bad reception for signals, I truly don't believe this product made a difference. It did help my wireless thermostat work better.

Velop was sent to me at no cost for an honest review. I have never labeled something I've reviewed as "The best" so hopefully that tells you from the get-go what I think about this product. First, let me say that this product was designed to counter the flaws found in range extenders, especially in large areas or homes that use WiFi. Range extenders drop bandwidth speed from what the router outputs, and the more extenders you have daisy chained, the slower your connection at the other end will be. NO LONGER is that the case with these. The Velop I received came with 3 nodes. Each node is essentially a router that has 2 ethernet ports on the underside of it. One of these nodes will connect directly to your modem and the other two will connect to the main node and to each other. The difference with this system is that there is ZERO LOSS OF SPEED regardless of the node. With range extenders, your device basically had to disconnect from the main router and connect to the extender. The Velop allows for seamless connectivity so that your device never disconnects because it sees all nodes as 1 single connection. Each node covers up to 2000 square feet so 3 nodes will cover up to 6000 square feet. Very handy in multi-level homes or ranch style homes. I already possessed a great router prior to receiving the Velop but while the router covered my entire house, it was spotty when i went to my backyard or my driveway. With the Velop, this is no longer the case. I tested the speeds in every crevice of my 2400 sq ft home and while 3 nodes is probably overkill, I was nonetheless extremely pleased with the performance that the Velop provided. Since each node has 2 ethernet ports on it, you can hard wire up to 2 devices to each node if desired (except the one that is connected to the modem since one of the ports will be used by the modem). The way to set up the Velop is through the linksys app. It took me about 10 minutes and you essentially connect to 1 node (the ssid and password are located on the underside and you can change them in the setup). Once you connect to the first node, the rest of the process is easy as pie, you just follow directions on your phone or tablet. While I don't have the Amazon Echo, this device is controllable through Alexa so that sounds like something I might invest in for the future. The nodes themselves are very aesthetically pleasing and very modern and sleek, so having them around your house will not be an eyesore. They are white and resemble a good looking bluetooth speaker. The only drawback to this system is that each node only has 2 ethernet ports so if you want to hardwire many devices, you'll still need either a switch or another router to hook up to one of the nodes. Overall, I'd recommend the Velop if your wireless signal suffers from poor connectivity or low signal strength, you will NOT be disappointed. This is simply the best WiFi system out there, even compared to other like-products, and though it may set you back a little on your budget, it is money well spent.
