Customers are impressed with the Velop AC2200 Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi 5 System's ease of use, coverage, and setup, frequently citing its simple installation and strong signal. Many also praise the system's range and performance, reporting consistently reliable connectivity. However, some users experienced connection issues and noted the relatively high price. A limited number of Ethernet ports was also a recurring point of feedback.

Overall I'm satisfied with the system. A 3 pack system is supposed to cover a home up to 6000 sq ft. I think I'm going to have to add one more to get better coverage on my front porch.

Most of my home is one story and needed a system for covering a large area. I purchased the Velop 3 pack to get adequate coverage and there isn't a dead spot in my home now. There is occasion that I need to reset the system, but their app and on-line access make changing whatever you need relatively easy, even for someone like me that knows enough about systems to be slightly dangerous.

I initially purchased this and used it for a few days. I ended up returning it and going with Orbi AC3300. Every time the router disconnected from the velop system I would have to start over the entire process of reconnecting those three units. Orbi is the easiest system and has had significantly greater reach. It does cost a bit more but Linksys isn’t the greatest product out there right now. I even tried an AD7200 from them and Orbi is still the best. We have gigabit internet service in our area and Orbi gave it to us the fastest.

      Hi, GJDB,

The behavior you describe is unusual for the Velop system. It may have been possible that the firmware of the nodes was not up to date. We respect your decision in returning the device. If you have any questions regarding any of our Linksys devices, feel free to email us at [email protected].

      Have a good day!

Linksys app and Velop load balancing are awful

    Posted .

The app has been a buggy nightmare since day one and all my bandwidth sucking devices are being put on the SAME RADIO, so a single local file transfer brings my entire network to its knees. I even have an ethernet backhaul set up, so all three radios are free. My old AC1750 router performed better, was easier to set up, and it costs far less. Here's my sequence of events after I unboxed my 2-pack Velop: 1. Installed app 2. Started setup on app. Noticed that each step took longer than it would have if I were just using a web interface. 3. Setup froze. 4. Power cycled velops, things seemed to be working. My wireless and wired clients had internet access and the mobile app logged in OK. I took a break, watched some TV. 5. Checked out app, gave the error "Your internet is working, but our cloud service isn't." I'm not sure how long linksys' cloud service was down, but it was at least an hour. 6. Much later, finally got into device list in the app, notice that my kindle is listed as "connected by ethernet", when it clearly isn't even capable of wired internet. 7. Tried the app's "manage your network anywhere" feature, didn't work. only worked on my own network 8. Tried in-app speed test, it spits the same error, three times in a row, never worked once. Also notice that there is no node->node or client->node tests like other mesh network products have. 9. Checked devices list again, notice that it now lists FIVE ethernet devices when I only have one. Could be related to the bad wireless load balancing? Who knows. If you're considering Whole Home Wi-Fi, just get Google Wi-Fi instead. It has MUCH better software, both in the router and through the mobile app, and it's much cheaper to boot. Or if you're after speed, go for Netgear's Orbi. Velop's supposed speed advantages with its three radios are meaningless when the firmware is so dumb that it clumps up devices on one.

      Hi, Gowg,

We saw your Amazon Review. Looks like the Linksys App didn't run smoothly for you. The error message you've received during setup caught our attention and we would like to look closely into this further. Additionally, we would also love to have our Escalation Engineers check other issues you've raised like the wireless speed and load balancing for internet traffic.

Give us a call us at 800-986-0518 or email us at [email protected] with your contact details and the link to this review. We hope to hear from you soon.

    Works, but...

Installation was pretty straightforward and system works as advertised. The mesh system makes for extended wifi without any dead spots or the need to switch to an extender. However, I have been a bit disappointed with throughput. Running my old router side by side with the Velop, I get faster speeds on the much older, Netgear, non-mesh system. Next go around, I'd have to look hard at the other mesh systems.

      Hi, Everlost,

Updating the Velop nodes to its latest firmware as well as adjusting the channels to less congested ones might help to improve the speed. If not, please get in touch with us at [email protected] with your contact details and a link to this review so we can have our Escalation Engineers assist you in optimizing the Velop settings for a better performance.

Easy set-up, just follow step by step instructions. Download the app, plug in the first unit, name your network, make-up your password and enter it. Plug in your second unit, select your network, name your unit location, enter password, repeat. Log in all your devices( most difficult and time consumming part of the process). Reduced buffering by 95% and when it does occur, it is very fast (short duration)

Good price and good choice if you do not stick to the latest tech of WiFi 6. Good for a mid size house. The tri-band mesh is absolutely necessary if you have many devices to connect to internet. Also easy to add the third satellite if you want to ensure strong signal outside your house or in your basement.

I like the ease of setting up the Linksys Velop Tri-Bank Mesh Wi-Fi but at times I have problems with some of my devices getting disconnected from the network so I have to go back in an connect them. Not sure if this is a problem with my devices (Ring Doorbell and occasional cell phone) or the Linksys system itself.
