We don’t have a big house, but it is older with chicken wire cement in the walls. We recently added a second story and all internet terminates in the new part of the house. I ran CAT 6e during contstruction to ensure I could have WiFi coverage in the front of the house. For the past few years, I was using an Asus AC 2400 Dual Band Router. I then added an Asus AC 1300 Router. Both GigaBit and both running off of the TWC Router (300mb). I converted both Asus to AP’s, but could never eliminate IP conflicts or latency issues. I added Velop (hard wired), and while it is expensive, it does exactly what Linksys says. It eliminates dead spots, issues moving room to room and latency. I run speed tests wirelessly and am getting 325mb’s down and 25mbs up throughout the house. Most importantly, the complaining about issues with the internet are gone. It is expensive, but well worth it.

I've been around computers all my life but I am not in the Tech industry, so I'm the "dangerous" IT guy- I can cobble together a solution to a challenge, but it's not always the fastest process nor the best outcome. I was simlutaneously intrigued by, and skeptical of, the Velop system. Over the years I've seen several hopeful "game changers" that were either simply better looking (less stealth fighter) or so limited in their function that they were disappointing. This is not the case with the VELOP. The "pods" are inoffensive, if not attractive (I think they look great) and around the size of a 7" high tabletop candle you would find in a typical household. The real breakthrough? They are so easy to set-up that I thought I had to be missing something. In order to double-check, I put everything back in the box and invited over a technologically-challenged neighbor. He was able to set-up the system in no time. I have the 3-pod system and it's (wonderful) overkill for my 1200 square foot apartment. We decided to experiment with our C-shaped 21-unit apartment building, placing one pod in my apartment near the apex and the other two midway down each leg of the "C". The result? Every 1st floor unit has stable connectivity and most of the upper floor units do as well (our building has lath and stucco- a known enemy of WiFi). Bad news for the ISPs- we're considering sharing a single super hi-speed account going foward!

Used to be getting a super powerful router was the highlight of my online experience. Then we started to work remotely, had a baby and got a video monitor. Signals were dropped, cameras constantly needed reset, WiFi was spotty in places and calls were dropped. Then came the Velop. I was not sure spending that kind of money on a newer tech was going to work out. After reading several reviews online, and remembering the experience over the last few years, I went for it. I set up all three nodes at once, placed them around the house, and boom! Great coverage, no drops, small footprint for the devices, and we are very happy. Easy setup via app, you can still use your desktop browser to do the setup and avoid the app if you want, but either way, they knocked it out of the park with this. Happiest wireless experience we have had.

This is great mesh wifi system that doesn't cost a fortune. I bought it for my in-laws as their xfinity router in their basement couldn't reach all the way to either end of their house. This 3-pack totally solved that problem, and the signal even extended well into the backyard for when it warms up in the summer. Setup was very easy for me (probably wouldn't have been for them, but who knows), and nothing has gone wrong since. So all is good!

Got the Velop system to replace my existing multiband single router that I was initially using to cover my 3K sqft home. The existing router was good for the home, but left deadspots, especially in the yard. With this Velop system, I have no dead zones anywhere, including my large backyard (velop advertises the 3 node setup for approx 6000sq. Ft. I tried the network with and without an Ethernet backhaul and in both modes I am getting the fastest speed tests ever. Now I am able to get the 30up, 30 down advertised by my ISP. Given that I have a switch laying around, I decided to continue using my gigabit switch for backhaul between the nodes. Cons: Setup took sometime with the app taking about 10 minutes to configure the second and third node. Nothing i would pull my hair out for.

I Really Wanted to Love It...

In a nutshell, if you can get this product to work with multiple nodes, I suspect that it's a great whole home wi-fi mesh product. Unfortunately for me, I could not get either of the two additional nodes to pair with the the node in the living room or with each other. I spent hours troubleshooting to no avail. The first node (in the living room) got connected to my ISP's gateway instantly with no issues. I was browsing the internet in no time and had no trouble setting it up with the linksys app. The speed was fast and my streamed media ran flawlessly with no buffering. However, the other 2 nodes which where in 2 separate bedrooms would simply not pair with each other. These two nodes were only about 10-15 feet away from the node in the living room. I performed countless factory resets, I tried pairing on the linksys app multiple times by using the "+ Set up a new product" option as instructed, made sure to pair each node one at a time , and I even disconnected the additional nodes and literally placed them next to the node in the living room and they would still not connect. I kept getting the "..you're node is off the map! Unplug your node and move it much closer to another, reduce the amount of heavy obstacles in between, or just try again." Umm, the nodes are literally side by side! It was interesting because I would eventually get to the end of the pairing process in the form of a "now, we're talking" message but after I hit "next", and it attempts to finalize the pairing process, I receive the dreaded "you're node is off the map!" message almost instantly. Again, even when they're right next to each other. If I tried selecting "Try Again" at that point, I would get the "Checking your node's location" progress bar. Out of the several times I got to this point, the bar would not get past half way. It says to wait a few minutes. I waited hours. I even let it sit overnight once only to find the bar still stuck in the middle of the progress bar the next morning. I rinsed and repeated and no success. I would start from scratch and start with the one working node in the living room. I would factory reset it. Then connect a second one. I could never get the 2nd one to pair. Regardless of which node I used for the 2nd node and regardless of distance. I think what made the setup a little more frustrating is that there is no 192.168.1.1/192.168.0.1 administrator router GUI that you can access to manually configure each node. You can only use the linksys app on your mobile device to configure and administer your network. I do understand why LInksys did this as this product is intended for the average user demanding simplicity and not so much for your typical power/speed hungry user that demands 8 ethernet ports and things like VTP trunking features and static route configurations. However, I would much rather have something I may not need, than to not have it and need it. Especially for troubleshooting journeys such as this one. Maybe in a future firmware release linksys can add a router admin GUI. Please do note that my experience with this product seems to be isolated as most of the reviews I've read seem to be positive. Maybe I received a bad unit. And if this is not the case, maybe there's a bug with the firmware or possibly a software issue with the linksys app on the Android platform that I may have encountered. In any case, as top notch as the build quality is on this product, as much as I loved how well packaged it was by linksys , how they even thought about designing each node with a rear-facing contoured cable management section to neatly run your ethernet cables, the speedy performance from the single node that I was able to get to work, I unfortunately cannot in good faith give this product more than three 3 stars due to not being able to use the product as intended. I've spent days trying to get these nodes to talk to each other and by today's standards, it should not be this difficult nor should one have to devote this much time troubleshooting to get devices to talk to one another. I do hope that linksys gets this sorted out because it seems like a very promising product otherwise.

I was having issues with my Netgear R6200 delivering the 100Mb speed that I was paying for. The speed was good upstairs where the router was located but was not cutting it in the downstairs livingroom and kitchen. Once I installed the Linksys Velop system, I was able to get the speed I wanted throughout the house. I only have the standard 3 modules with one being in the master bedroom, one being in the livingroom and one being in the kitchen. This set up is able to give me coverage in my 3800sf house. I even get service in my backyard which is another 2000sf.

I have had the Velop two node system for about 1 week now. I am very pleased, and I would recommend the system. I have subscribed to Verizon Fios 50/50 (50MB down , 50MB up) with the ActionTec MI424 router. I noticed on the wireless in my house I rarely got 50 MB down, and only if I was very close to the router. Most of my rooms were averaging around 10-20MB which isn't bad, but if you have multiple teenagers streaming video not good enough. After installing, I get almost 50MB down in each room of my house. I was very impressed. Details below: - 3000 sq foot house - I bought the two node system. I placed one near the router (on my main floor), and one upstairs in the master bedroom. I rarely need wifi in my basement., so thought I would get the two node system and buy a 3rd node if needed and if it worked well. But I noticed that all 3 floors get almost 50 MB down wifi. Excellent coverage. I would recommend the two node system for similar sized houses. Why spend $450 for 3, when the $350 for two nodes will do the job. - Setup was very easy and everything worked flawlessly for me. Just download the app and follow the instructions. For my setup, after I got the velop network up and running, I logged into my Verizon fios router, and disabled the wifi on that. You don't have to do this, I just did it so I would not needlessly have two wifi running. The setup was easy, following the instructions, just plug a velop node in the ethernet port of your router, and then place the other on another floor of your house. -It is aesthetically pleasing, and can be placed anywhere in your home without looking like an eyesore. - No cons as of now. If I have to list a con, maybe the price. But it is about the same as the Orbi, which also has good reviews.I was trying to decide between these two systems. I never tried the Orbi, as this one met all of my expectations.

Linksys Whole House WiFi work well

This review is for the Linksys Velop WiFi with two nodes. The product was easy to set up using the Google Play Android App. Virtually plug and play. I have a two story home with one node on each floor. The wifi on both floors works well, speed is good with no latency issues even when streaming vid. The second floor did not have an easy way to route a direct ethernet cable from the first floor router, the Velop node had ethernet ports and I connected directly to the Samsung Smart TV and it works well. The biggest issue was getting Samsung 50" to recognize new router. In this regard, Samsung bites, but Velop had an easy solution with ethernet ports available at each node.

Evaluated other mesh networking products with less than satisfactory results. Linksys Velop meets all of my expectations for a consumer, whole home product at $400 (three pack and on sale): packaging design, labeling, and simplicity; ease of installation and setup; design for home display; iPhone app functionality and interface; compatibility with existing Ethernet and various wireless devices, old and new; and performance. Time will tell how Linksys invests in this product through customer service and software/firmware updates for new and revised functionality/performance... Thank you for designing and implementing a thoughtful and quality product ecosystem.

I originally had an airport network with my U-Verse service and i would have intermittent service outage as well as sub par range. I purchased this Velop system in hopes of increasing my network performance. I was extremely impressed with the ease of setup of the Velop system, which is little more than connecting to the modem and plugging in power. After getting all three pods set up i found the range to be excellent and the service drops no longer happen. Even better is the fact that the network flows seamlessly so there are no alternate networks like you get with range extenders. The Velop system also allows the setup of a guest WiFi network.

Solved my WiFi problems! AT&T compatible.

I was wondering if I could use this with my existing AT&T router, since that router specifically works my AT&T services...the answer is yes! AT&T's tech had put my router in the farthest corner of the garage, so I had terrible connectivity throughout the home. I had bought a range extender, but you have to keep switching your WiFi connection to either main or extender, depending on where you were in the house...pain in the neck. I bought the Linksys Velop 3 pack. Note that one of the nodes has to plug into your existing router, so for me to have one inside my house on the first floor and another on the 2nd floor, I needed the 3-pack. You download the Linksys app, and it walks you through it with incredible ease. An 8 year old could follow these directions. It asks if you have a single modem/router, or if your modem and router are 2 separate devices. Then it has you plug the first node in near your router, wait while it connects, and answer the questions about whether the light is purple, blinking, etc. If there is any problem, it fixes it. Once connected, you name it (Garage, Living Room, etc.). It tests the connection and lets you know if the signal is strong, or if you need to move it closer to the router or to another node. Follow the same steps with the other 2 nodes (I put one in my downstairs living room, and one in my upstairs office). Since it's mesh networking, all of them function as the same WiFi name, so you never have to switch your connection. I run SO many WiFi devices throughout my home, and I now have perfectly strong signals in every corner of my home. Worth every penny!

Setup is really very easy, even if I wish it wasn't app-based. Actual performance has been excellent and the coverage and speed in our long and oddly-shaped home has been a drastic improvement with the three node system. The units themselves are attractive. I'd like to be able to test the individual modules and the app is a bit simplistic, but overall I recommend this solution.

I bought this WiFi system after experiencing “dead zones” within many rooms that my family tends to use the most. I researched many of the other systems currently available on the market and decided the Velop system fit my needs the best. We have a fairly large home (5,300 sqft) and were using 2 WiFi routers that were bridged yet we continued to have areas with low to no WiFi signal. Now, thanks to Velop we have WiFi service in every room of our home, around the pool or anywhere on the property we go. This system is SO EASY to setup even for those with no knowledge of tech (my 9 yro son assisted in setting this system up). It was truly that easy. The app walks you through every step to set the system up. It will even tell you if you setup a unit outside of the ideal range. I would almost describe this system as plug and play. Each Velop unit gives continuous WiFi signal independent of the other units and the signal doesn’t diminish as you get further from the “base” or “primary” unit. That’s because the units work as independent WiFi routers. Unlike other systems, which use, a primary base router with several separate repeaters. This system provides an incredibly fast WiFi environment (depending on your ISP). Note: my ISP uses fiber optic networking so I can not comment on how well the system works with internet provided by dsl, cable, etc. I would highly recommend this product to friends and family. Actually, I have several times already!

I really love this product! We moved in to a new home with 3 floors and knew that our wifi wouldn't reach every inch of our house. As a person that is very familiar with tech and knows a few things about networking I knew that this product is just what we needed. Whole home wifi is a really nice technology to take advantage of especially if you have a larger home and need coverage around the house. I chose Linksys Velop as my go to whole home wifi system because I have previously used their routers and never had an issue using them. The best thing about the product is how easy it is to set it up! You just plug the node in one at a time and follow the instructions on the app and everything else is taken care of! This is the reason i keep buying Linksys products! Aside from functionality i really like the look of the Velop. Its very modern and looks nice anywhere you put it unlike some systems that you don't want to be visible because of how unsightly they seem with antennas everywhere. This is a simple looking device and works well in my home. In terms of connection and wifi speeds it definitely delivers! I am getting the same speeds I am pay for from my ISP no matter where i am in my home so i never have to worry about the connection dropping at all. It even reach all the way in to my backyard! I would highly recommend this product to anyone who is experiencing issues with their wifi in different locations in their home!

I’ve tried several solutions to extend WiFi to my detached garage/shop. They were difficult to set up, performed marginally, and were flaky. The Velop system installed easily and has been rock solid. Performance is very good. Speed test results to one of the sattellites is within a few percent of that of the base station (100+ Mb/s). The iOS management app needs some polishing (only supports portrait mode on my iPad, apparently no way to monitor signal strength of the sattellites) but the system has been so reliable I haven’t needed to use it. Big improvement over my old Netgear router.

This is worth every penny! I have a family of 5 and quite a few wi-fi connected devices. I tend to replace my router every year with the latest and greatest router but I am always left disappointed. This is an annual ritual and I go into it telling my teenagers I am going to fix the wi-fi (which is a huge complaint in my house) but thinking there will still be issues. I always have dead zones despite moving the router all over. Last year I decided to go with an AirPort Extreme rather than the newest powerhouse router due to apple’s reliability and tons of Apple products. I still had aweful coverage and did Ethernet wiring with switches, plug in items for Ethernet over electrical wiring for distant areas and a net gear WiFi extender system. We had WiFi but Netflix and vudu would skip constantly. I pay for the fastest Comcast I can get in my area and yet never see it. So after considering the netgear orbi and Linksys Velop I decided on the velop. I chose the Velop as each node is equal, it is a true mesh system and it has some home automation features so I don’t feel I need to upgrade too soon. Installation was very easy, and the app guides through everything. It is an attractive device that appears well made and it doesn’t look like a spider so it can be pretty much set up anywhere. After I set this up we finally could see the Comcast speed we pay for and every device in the house now works flawlessly. We even have backyard coverage. My daughter’s MacBook Air went from a speedtest of 30mbps to 250mbps in the upstairs. I was shocked. I am thrilled with this product. The other nice thing is each node is a clone of the other so any node can be the main router. If one fails your WiFi will still work and you can replace a single node. If you want to improve the WiFi you can add another node. Ingenious!!
