I needed a new router system because my old one wasn’t doing it for my gaming. This is a great device that reaches throughout my whole house and now there isn’t lag when I play online. Pretty easy to connect through your phone.

We have a 3700 square foot home and have had wifi issues since day one. I tried extenders and new routers, etc. Nothing worked. I got the Velop mesh system and it has been AMAZING! The wifi is super fast in every room in the home!! (Even across the street in my neighbors driveway).

The Linksys Velop system has allowed me to have consistent high speed wifi coverage though our the entire house. Even with a highly reviewed individual router I had spotty coverage on the second floor in a home with brick walls. The Velop system has totally resolved that difficulty.

Poor range, often disconnects form my old cable modem. Gave 3 stars for ease of use and velop app. Very easy to setup, well built, and awesome parental control.

      Hi, Jaya,

The Linksys Velop Tri-Band Mesh WiFi System can provide a WiFi coverage of up to 2,000 sq ft per node and provide a stable connection. You can try to relocate the nodes and use the channel finder to optimize the nodes.

The perfect solution for a large apartment

We have a 2,500 sq apartment and while the space is amazing, the WiFi was terrible. We bought this to help with the “drop” zones and it has been amazing. I definitely recommend this product for those looking to boost their network’s strength within a semi large space.

Wanted to love this mesh network but we started experiencing issues within a week. Big drop in speeds, lagging issues with gamer kids on game console and pc, had to reboot network every other day, buffering issues trying to stream on cell phones and smart tv streaming apps. Was recommended the Netgear Orbi AC3000 mesh set up and we have been very happy since. On return off this set up I was also recommended to buy our own modem and that has made a difference too. I am reviewing this item vs new mesh setup after 3 months of exchange. Rating based on issues but I am also factoring the modem could’ve played a part but I also read a lot of similar issues with this set up on forums.

      Hi FloridaTechie,

Although we could have tried to use the channel finder on the Linksys app to help optimize the Velop system, it should have worked properly after it was set up.

I'm not sure about this router. It installs from a smart phone, and nothing about the install was simple or went right. Spent four hours on the phone trying to get the system to work. Everything from the connects via bluetooth, and if you have multiple bluetooth devices around, it may connect to any of them and not the phone you want to connect to. Has trouble finding the nodes. It is finally working and is fast, but occasionally one of the nodes drops. For the pain, there must be a better alternative.

I purchsed the Velop mesh Tri-band to replace my Orbi mesh. The range was terrible and speed was unusable. I was getting good range with the Orbi but I thought having a 3 mesh pack would be better. The range with the Velop couldn't cover my 3500 sq ft home with a 3 pack. The speed went from 600mbps with orbi to 50mbps with Velop. Keep in mind, I'm a network engineer.... Returned and bought a wifi-6 router made by Ubiquiti.

      Hi, Raudy,

One of the possible reasons why we encounter the range and speed issue is physical obstructions such as thick walls or metal objects. Wireless networks are susceptible to obstructions that may lead to low signal connection. We could have this investigate further with our Escalation Engineers as well. In case you need help with our products, don't hesitate to email us at [email protected] with your contact info and the link of this review, for our reference.

This is my third Wi-Fi mesh system I have used, and the Linksys Velop is my favorite one. What I like best about the Velop is that it has fast performance and able to cover a large area because it has a dedicated 5 mHz band for back haul connection. Some mesh Wi-Fi systems and repeaters loss up to half the speed when using the extender or additional mesh unit. The dedicated channel for backhaul lets you experience faster speeds with your additional Velop units. I have 50 up and 5 down cable internet. In my main room with the router and modem I can get speeds of up to 61 Mbps up and 6 Mbps down. In my living room I have an additional Velop unit. I experience the exact same numbers. With my old systems my speed would be around 25 Mbps down and 2 Mbps Up. The Velop I was able to have the exact same speeds 61 Mbps down and 6 Mbps up. I experienced the same numbers where I watch streaming down stairs with an iPad pro. No longer do I experience any buffering or lose of signal and clarity has been greatly improved. I set a third Velop unit in my garage and here is where I love it. Speeds in my garage used to by 3 Mbps down and >1 Mbps up. With the Velop I know have 40 Mbps down and 5 Mbps down. By my pool I could never have a signal and now my speeds are 30 Mbps down and 4 down. At the back of my property (3/4 of an acrea about 120 feet from the main router and 100 feet from the 3rd Velop unit) I have speeds of up to 30 Mbps down and 3 Mbps down. I now have internet all over my house and yard. I have an older house with plaster and concrete drywall, with a tiled full shower so there is a lot of barriers in my house preventing a strong signal. Set up was a breeze. I downloaded the app and set everything up. The app let me know if my units were too far from the source and helped me for optimal placement. The app is nice because I can change settings all from my phone. This was the easiest set up I have ever used. My favorite part of the app is that I can set up to three devices as priority devices. This will ensure that they receive top speeds when a lot of other devices are using your wifi. When I travel throughout the house and outside I never noticed a temporary slowdown in speed as I was watching a movie on Netflix. This is not the case for my other systems I have used. The Velop supports dynamic frequency selection that allows the Velop to automatically pick the best channel or band at a given time to connect your phone, tablets, streaming units, etc and clients together. I like also how I can connect an Ethernet cable to my Apple TV to eliminate signal loss. The Velop also allows for Amazon Alexa to control your home network. Velop also uses airtime fairness which means that when you have multiple devices with different Wi-Fi speed needs, the devices are treated differently based on their top speed. This allows all devices to connect at their best speeds for improved performance and use. The Velop also does support MU-MIMO, but I did not use this. Lastly I love the style of the Velop. It is tower based and easily blends in with your house. The tower set up doesn’t take a lot of space on a desk and most of the wires come out the back and are out of site. If you want a wifi system that will cover all of your house, super easy to set up and not have to think about it in order to for your wi-fi to perform at a premium, this is the wi-fi mesh system for you.

      Hi AP27Goldrake,

The Velop nodes should easily connect to each other. You can try to use the channel finder on your Linksys app to optimize the connection of each Velop node. Also, try to update the firmware of the nodes as this usually fixes some issues.

Overall an excellent purchase. Was worried about the cost, but all three nodes were extremely easy to set up in a relatively short period of time. WIFI strength is very good now in the basement, first floor and second floor, with streaming video working very smoothly.
