Finally, a WiFi system that works!

I purchased this 3 pack of Linksys Velop mesh nodes about 2 weeks ago, and couldn't be more happy. I was using a WiFi extender, and had a total of 5 WiFi names/psswrds for the full system to work in my 1800 sq ft home. Well, it didn't really work. It was spotty and often confused, not to mention how confused my family was with so many things to connect to. I have 400Mbps coming to the house, but with the extender, I was not getting over 100 in spots that the extender covered. After installing the mesh network (took me about 15 minutes total) I am getting well over 400 even in my garage which was out of range previously. I also now have just ONE WiFi network to connect to for the family which makes thing so simple! Well worth the money if you are looking for consistent, simple, and robust whole house WiFi!

So far it’s a good unit if you can get it on sale like I did. If not, it’s over priced. I’m still debating on returning it because the WiFi has been decent with good coverage but not stable. I haven’t experienced any drop outs yet but for me it fluctuates. I can get full 150 up and down, what I pay for, then within minutes it drops to 100 or so. Why, I have no idea. I also don’t like each node can handle up to 32 devices. So if you have a lot, you’ll need more nodes, which then means, you may cripple your WiFi. But if you’re looking for a mesh network, I can say it’s on every of the better ones. I’m also testing eero and it seems to be the better of the two.

We recently moved to a new house and low and behold when we had internet hooked up we found out my netgear nighthawk decided to stop working between my old and new house. With the covid19 running rampant and stores were all closed we were fortunate enough to at least borrow someone’s old router til I could get something different. It was an old router with low coverage but it got us by. Finally when it became almost impossible to stream we had to do different and I had been made aware of these mesh systems a while back but held off due to the expense and at the time of hearing about them had a decent router that worked at the time of hearing of these setups just kept the idea on hold. After much research and reading of reviews decided to go with this velop and so far it has been fantastic. Just recently today had one node go offline and just did a reset from the palm of my hand with my phone and we are back up in running and only took minutes. We are a month or so in at this point and so far I am extremely happy with this purchase. A little info about my house, the main computer and modem we decided to put in our finished basement and with 1 node down there and two on either end of the main floor (no upstairs at this house), I have good coverage outside in an impressive radius of the house ( and outside) and I even have 2 bars of WiFi out in our detached garage that is a fair distance from the house. I was nervous to spend this much money and no be happy with it but I have to say for those in the same or similar predicament I was in, go for it! FYI about the node losing signal this has only happened once at this point and instantly got an alert on my phone thru linksys app and got it resolved quick. Hope this was just a fluke tho but we will see as time passes. And one last thing, setup was simple as can be. Easiest router install I have ever done. When you have an idea where you want to place the nodes it will walk you tru everything and check to see if you have a good spot, each spot I picked worked the first time without any issues.

Great Wireless Solution For Large Old Homes!

Not only was this router fantastically easy to set up but it provides reliable and superb coverage for over 20 devices with a large range of usage from streaming HD video to email. We are talking an Ante Bellum home older than 150 years old; 2 stories with solid brick walls and heavily plastered walls and ceilings. All three nodes were required to handle the distance and construction of the home. Best of all, I am able to control the most important configuration of the router from my home 180 miles away. Previously, I had wired together several access points that worked intermittently but sufficient if I was there to personally manage the hardware. The Best Buy rep was absolutely right that this router would be worth the extra $$. No more complaints from family members.

I don't typically write reviews but this is such an excellent product. My house isn't that large (about 2800 sf) but I previously had really slow internet speeds in a couple corners of my home, due to poor wifi signal (even though my prior router was an AC1900). The velop system completely eliminated any wifi deadspots or areas of slow download speeds. I pay for 150mbps down and I'm now getting that (and a bit more) with all my devices EVERYWHERE in my home. And, set up could not have been easier. I had none of the setup issues I've read others have experienced. I will also point out I tried a Netg**r mesh system that was ok but did not consistently provide my FULL internet download speeds throughout my home. The Velop does this and more. Great product. Highly recommended.

Like the look of this mesh system. I have too many walls and too much area to cover for 3 units and couldn't understand why the units would consistently lose connection every 3-10 days for months and had to constantly cold boot mesh system. I purchased 3 more units and now I haven't had a network wifi drop in 3 weeks and counting! I have 4 floors and wanted access from ground level garage, and level 3 and 4. Now I have it! Note: You must use a cell phone application to setup and manage. This mesh has no PC software.

I already had 2 of the tri-band nodes operating within the home since 2018 with excellent results. Added another node in a roofed and screened-in back deck {lanai} for coverage at an outdoor patio. Another node was placed at a desk-top PC for a stronger signal. The third node has been held in reserve. Note that the third band {5G} is used as only a communication band between the nodes for automatic switching to the node closest to your device as you roam throughout your living spaces, indoor and outdoor. This provides for a seamless connection without any notice by the user. Jim of ButlerNaples

Very Impressed, Now I have Full Speed with my ISP

I had a beast of a router (Netgear Nighthawk 8000) before I decided to upgrade to the Velop system. Problem I have being in a ranch home is on the other corner of the house I would loose connection speed with my wifi. I tried placing my router in different places and still could not get the full speeds of 244Mbps downloads on any device on my network, best I could get was 154 wired or wifi, even with the latest firmware. After upgrading to this Linksys Velop system I now can get constant speeds of 225Mbps with wifi, never reached before with my last router. This falls to the lowest of 215MBPS at the far corner of my house. (I have the 2 node system). Works great and consistent speeds. Also will note I have the iPhone with wifi calling, before my calls would drop about 20% of the time, haven't had a dropped call yet with this new wifi system. I have about 17-20 devices on at any given time. So far no troubles at all.

I have 5 nodes setup around the house and have great WiFi everywhere. I had some issues configuring the ethernet backhaul but after several attempts I got it working. As per the LinkSys website you have to configure each node over WiFi before you can use ethernet backhaul (which I did but I still had flashing red lights for a while). One mistake I made is that I had my master node connected to the cable modem and then I had my wired network connected to another port on my cable modem. That doesn't work if you want ALL your wired / wireless devices to talk to one another. The simple fix is to run your wired network from your master node rather than your cable modem (assuming you want everything on the same network). These things aren't cheap but once I got past my teething problems I think they're worth it (to me at least). We have a decent sized contemporary house with a weird floor plan so getting WiFi everywhere was a challenge. I have several Nest outdoor cams that connect just fine including a newly added cam that is about 50 yards from the house. We live in a rural area so there's not much interference from neighbours.

I went into the store intending to buy an ORBI Wi-Fi system. The store clerk asked me how I would use it and he directed me to buy the Linksys system instead. Brilliant recommendation. Identical Wi-Fi connectivity throughout the house with this 2-pack item. Very grateful to the store clerk who directed me to this product. The product is easy to set up and even looks attractive when placed on top of furniture. My only complaint is that it has only 2 ethernet inputs. My old Airport Extreme had three, and I used all three. I'll have to make do with the two on this product, but that does not take anything away from my firm recommendation of this product.

My phones and electronic devices have never been happier. It automatically provides a single network for your devices to connect to from anywhere. The range is also very good. Sometimes I forget my driving podcasts as I am leaving my I can Pause in front of my house quickly download a large amount of data and continue in my way. Second benefit is using one by my home entertain system i plug in those devices directly to a node and the it sees it as a hard connection so it one less network item and allows for easy internet updates of all my favorite electricians without having to create and maanage a seperate logon for example Dvr, smart Tv, DVD player...

Went to Best Buy looking for a new router and ended up buying this. The signal strength is absolutely unmatched. Although set up was difficult, I did have to contact Linksys. After logging into my Linksys account, the customer service rep walked me through step by step as to how to set this up and where to put these Nodes at. I think a lot of people could do this themselves, I just wanted to make sure that I did not mess it up. I have one Node each in the basement, main level and upstairs. A little pricey, but they do go on sale from time to time.
