Customers are impressed with the Velop AC2200 Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi 5 System's ease of use, coverage, and setup, frequently citing its simple installation and strong signal. Many also praise the system's range and performance, reporting consistently reliable connectivity. However, some users experienced connection issues and noted the relatively high price. A limited number of Ethernet ports was also a recurring point of feedback.

I had a single router in my two storey home and always used to have lots of blind spots across the home. This mesh network has solved all the network issues. No more blind spots. Strong network across the home. Setup was very easy too.

I was having spotty internet throughout my house and invested in this device. It allows for 1GB throughout my network on any 3 floors. I tested my network running 12+ devices vs. my Verizon modem and the Speedtest blew it out of the park. I have suggested this set to multiple friends and will continue to do so.

I purchased this product because of a recommendation from a Best Buy employee. I was looking to get a larger 5Ghz network area coverage so I could take advantage of my 300+ MB download speeds that I am paying for through Spectrum. This mesh network definitely provided me with a larger coverage area, but it always seemed to go to the 2.4 Ghz because that signal was always stronger. The other thing that is not great about this (at least for me) is the fact that there are only 2 Ethernet ports on each router. I would definitely prefer to have more without having to purchase a Swtch to go through.
Positive: It did provide a much larger coverage area than the Spectrum provided Modem/router combo.
Negative: this mesh network automatically swithes between 2.4 and 5G bands. This may be great for some people, but didn't work so great for me. I prefer to have 2 separate named networks (one for the 2.4 and one for the 5) that I can connect to and this is not possible with this system.

Hi, jupright,
If you wish to create separate networks, we can always walk you through the process. The 2.4 GHz band offers coverage for farther distances but may perform at slower speeds compared to the 5GHz which provides faster data rates at a shorter distance. However, this configuration will defeat the purpose of having a seamless one network experience that your Velop System can deliver.

It took some experimenting to find good location for the 2nd unit. The first unit is in an upstairs cabinet hardwired to my cable modem. The 2nd unit is one the first floor in a hallway mounted at the top of the wall. I did get the base for mounting to the wall. I now have good WiFi signal throughout my two-story home.

Purchased this to better manage my rural broadband (whopping 3Mbps connection) for use with WiFi calling from my cell phone provider. Goal was to get a mesh network that allowed me to prioritize a device (up to 3) over others. This does just that. am now ale to make and hold Wifi calls without any major issues.
The quirk to this system is that it seems to not have a good algorithm for "directing" devices to the stronger signal station. It hasn't affected my connections, esp with only 3Mbps bandwidth, but it's at least worth noting that.
The app is pretty intuitive, and the internal web server offers even more control for management of the device. Also allows remote management. And offers basic device parental controls (they try and upsell you to their monthly filtering service, but I didn't use that).
Pros: Each tower can be configured as an independent device or as part of the mesh network. Can use ethernet ports on remote points to connect wired devices. Excellent QoS management.
Cons: "Directed" service (see comments) struggles to properly balance devices.

I was having trouble when I moved my wrt1900ac from the central part of my 2 story house to the periphery. I could no longer get full coverage in my house and didn't want to hassle with switching networks with range extenders. The Velop is the way to go. The wireless speeds are amazing and I full coverage in my house and even out in the street where I park my car. Awesome product!!!

Great solution for a large home

I had previously used 3 range extenders at the far ends of my home connected by ethernet. This arrangement worked, but it wouldn't let me keep one network name for the house. When normal range extenders have the same name as the cable modem wifi, there are problems, like the speed drops to a crawl. Orbi was recommended to me (netgear's mesh solution) so I bought that first. It was two full days of problems. Turns out that their "ethernet backhaul" solution was too buggy and they are working on the problems. I returned it and decided to try Velop. It was a bit tricky, but once I got it set up correctly, I have very fast internet throughout my home. Here's what I needed to do to make it work:
1. I needed to put the Velop parent node into "bridged mode". This allows my Xfinity modem to do the networking (I have lots of TV's, Tivo's, and computers that use ethernet and are all connected to a large ethernet switch)
2. I used a small ethernet switch to connect both child nodes to the parent node.
3. Through trial and error I figured out that I had to let the parent node completely start up from scratch until it had a solid blue light, then start the first child until blue, and finally let the second child start until blue. 3 nodes were the perfect number to completely cover our 4,500 square foot home. It's stable and fast.

My WI-FI was spotty in some parts of my house and it negatively affected my new smart TV. This product was highly recommended to solve my problems. I could not be more satisfied. My wi-fi even reaches well into my backyard. I have full, uninterrupted coverage. Highly recommend and well worth the price.

After comparing the Linksys Velop AC2200 two pack for $230 (sale price) and the TP-Link Deco m9 plus AC2200 three pack for $200 (original price from another retailer), I am completely sold on the TP-Link. From my experience with both, they have similar speeds, similarly easy app guided setup, etc. My 100 Mbps service seemed to be the limiting factor. The benefits of the Deco over the Velop is the ability to prioritize many devices (Velop limits this to 3), free network protection, free parental controls, and an additional node - all for less money. My only gripe with the Deco is the rather limited parental controls. There is no ability to provide rewards other than changing the standard limits for a specific profile. My Circle (gen 1) provides much more functionality on this front.

Simple and fast setup. Picks up settings for AT&T Cable Modem with Fiber Converter and relays to the other two towers wireless OR wired. However, anytime there has been a power failure when this unit was not on backup power, everything had to be rebooted to work properly again. The smartphone-based control app is excellent.
