Customers are saying

Customers love the Velop Pro 6E AXE5400 Tri-Band Mesh Wi-Fi 6E System's extensive coverage, ease of setup, and improved performance. Many appreciate the system's strong signal and wide range, making it ideal for larger homes. However, some users have noted that the accompanying app could benefit from improvements and that connectivity issues have been experienced by a few. Overall, the positive feedback on performance and ease of use outweighs the negative comments regarding the app and occasional connectivity problems.

      Hi,

To achieve optimal functionality, try to place the nodes to an open area away from possible obstructions such as thick walls and floor that may block its range. We can also manually change the wifi channel and ensure that the nodes are running on its latest firmware versions.

Should you need further assistance, please email us at LinksysCares@linksys.com and our Escalation Engineers can assist in adjusting your Wifi setting for better network coverage. Please include your contact details and the link to this post for our reference.

Worst ever. 1hr set-up and mesh wifi does function for the home. After that . . . . sigh . . . just give up. 4hr later . . . Android App - don't bother, won't connect. IF it ever does - think 5 tries - it will tell you the system is offline, even though it isn't. Try GUI to manage the router - you'll never get in. I work in IT and there are not even words to describe how awful the experience is.

      Hi,

We can try the following workarounds to further isolate the issue:
      • Let’s ensure that we are using a compatible handheld device with the latest Linksys App installed.
      • Let’s try to reset the nodes to factory default setting.
      • After resetting the nodes, let’s configure that nodes one at a time; turning off the other two nodes.
      • To properly set-up the node, follow these links for your reference:
      For iOS setup: https://www.linksys.com/support-article?articleNum=49695
      For Android setup: https://www.linksys.com/support-article?articleNum=50155
      • If first node has no success, consider trying the second node; setting it up as a parent node.
      • If all three nodes cannot be setup as a parent node using the Linksys App, consider setting the device via Web UI. Here’s a link you can follow: https://www.linksys.com/support-article?articleNum=50946.

If these steps does not work, please send us an email at LinksysCares@linksys.com including your contact information and a link to this review as our reference. We’ll have one of our Escalation Engineers contact you and can help you get to the bottom of this.

We had an old Linksys system that was amazing! We had it for 5+ years with no issues. We decided to upgrade to this system and we have been regretting it for an entire year! This system is super glitchy and frequently needs to be reset. Speeds are no better than our old system (even though our internet and modem both produce faster speeds).

I was looking a for a better router/mesh for my house because I had a 10-year-old router, I came across this one and more because they were on special and because they have 6E, after installing them, for 1 day they were fine after that my internet slow down and lag a lot, so I connect the old router and was good. don't bother to buy this Linksys is not as good as they were.

Upgraded my system to this when my parents needed to replace an obsolete Orbi. I upgraded from a Linksys AX3000 mesh to this. 6 hours later and multiple factory resets and trying every node as the main router and I give up. Just like others have said...app issues left and right. My favorite is trying to set it up and saying I wasn't using the internet port...but I was. My previous Linksys mesh worked great. Guess I shouldn't have tried to upgrade.

Unfortunately I haven’t had the experience others had. This router has not worked as intended since purchase been in contact with the company twice and when I follow instructions of the settings changes it would work for a day or two. I find myself reatarting the routers once or twice a day. For all the troubles I would NOT RECOMMEND this product to anyone. I previously had an Orbi wifi 5 set up and I will be pulling it out again.

      Hi, AnthonyJ,

We need to examine several factors to fully understand the root cause of the issue. Firstly, we must determine whether it's a LAN or WAN problem. If the modem connection is stable, we need to inspect both wired and wireless connections from the router, ideally on different devices for comparison. That way, we can isolate whether the wireless adapters of some devices are contributing factors, as they might not synchronize with the advanced modulation and coding schemes of the cognitive mesh technology.

On a side note, updating the firmware and optimizing channel usage can also enhance stability. For further assistance, please contact us at LinksysCares@linksys.com, including your contact details and a link to this review for reference. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Very sleek looking mesh nodes compared to the ones I was using from Linksys, probably 20% smaller. I had a 2 node system and it was working actually very well. But with this 3 node system Im getting way better connection and speed with the 6E connectivity on my 6E enabled devices than I was on my previous Linksysy mesh system. I have fiber so my download and upload speeds are very good. This Mesh system really makes it scream. The set up is very easy and straight forward. After unboxing all three nodes from the box and after unplugging my previous nodes set up took me about 30 minutes. All you need is the Linksys app on your phone and set up from there is simple. Just follow the instructions to a tee and you will have it done in no time flat. I placed my nodes like the instructions said, approx. 30' apart from one another and they are all connected with an excellent signal. Im super impressed with the sleek nodes and their ability to make my whole home a wifi dream. There isn't a dead spot in my house. My speed tests have been 100 to 200 Mbps more than my previous system. That makes this a worthy upgrade In My Opinion. Currently have 16 devices connected to the Mesh system and they all seem to be working well. TV's stream without issue and my Wifi 6 Chromebook is so fast when loading up web pages. I think to take full advantage of this Mesh system you need wifi 6E devices which i know are coming more and more. The next iPhone will have wifi 6e and that makes me excited now that I have this new Linksys Velop 6E mesh system. If you haven't joined in on the Mesh wifi world yet you should. It makes a ton of difference.

      Hi, JohnmarciaG,

It's essential to ensure that the firmware for all nodes, particularly the parent node, is up to date. When adding child nodes, consider relocating them closer to the parent node and use either the 5-press method or the web UI (whether by adding a wired or wireless child node). Here’s a helpful article: https://www.linksys.com/support-article?articleNum=316694

Compared to my old mesh system, the Velop Pro 6E really took my network to a new level. Linksys claims that the Velop Pro 6E is capable of coverages up to 9,000 square feet and is intended for 4+ bedroom homes. My house is just about 3,000 square feet with five bedrooms, and during my test of the Velop Pro 6E system, I had no coverage issues whatsoever. Set up was as easy as it comes. Download the Linsys app, install it on the iOS device, run it, follow the directions, and set up the network. This was the fastest wireless network setup I have installed in my home. I'm used to spending quite a bit of time waiting for firmware updates, boot up times, and running through the WiFi wizards. The Velop system cut that time substantially. I don't think it took me more than ten minutes to get everything up and going. In practice, the Velop Pro 6E is the best mesh network to grace my house. It plays nice with my Verizon modem, something that my last mesh network struggled with at times. It is fast in every corner of my house, sometimes reaching speeds that are 50-60 MBPS faster than my old system. I've noticed a difference in video streaming, downloads, and connectivity to the internet. Over the last week I've not had one single issue. No reboots, restarts, dropped internet, nothing. The Velop Pro 6E just works. Highly recommended.

      Hi,
We recommend that you ensure that all nodes are using the latest firmware and are positioned away from physical obstructions like thick walls and metal appliances. You may also try to change/test all available channels to identify the one that delivers the fastest speed. If none of these helps, please reach out to us at LinksysCares@linksys.com with your contact details and the link to this review as our reference and we will have one of our Escalation Engineers look into it further.

I wanted to love this Wi-Fi system, mainly because of the fact that it leverages the new 6E protocol and wanted to see if it really could go toe to toe with traditional Ethernet speeds (and dare I say reliability??) However, I was quite disappointed in this system. There really is no excuse now and days for Wifi to be hard to set up, especially a mesh system like this. Like many others have expressed, the configuration was a pain. For someone who is not too tech savvy, it would've been a call to support. The first time trying to set up the system, it just would not pick up the other two nodes, so I just retried the steps again by closing the app and retrying. Same thing, so then I power cycled the two other nodes that needed to be added, force closed the app, re did it, and finally it took. But then came trying to update the firmware... The first-time updating firmware, the app glitched out. It said "installing" but it never made any progress after 20 minutes, which I know is way too long for a simple firmware update to a home router system. I once again, force closed the app, and re-tried and this time it worked. Besides setup not being so easy going, the app is terribly buggy besides firmware update woes and setup pain. Even now as I write this review, every time I try to open the Linksys app, it says that my router is not connected to the internet and there is no connection to the cloud. Yeah.. that's not true. Because when I log in via a web browser on my computer to the default gateway admin console, everything is normal and checks out. I of course rebooted the modem, and the main node (the one which apparently cannot connect to the internet), but still, the app refuses to work. I know I can get it working again by probably either reinstalling it or just doing a factory reset, but that's ridiculous. For a $500 product, that absolutely should not be the case, the app should just simply, work. The customization you can do is extremely limited in the app as well. If you want to do any true modification to really anything to your Wifi settings besides just changing the password and doing some basic reporting tasks, you have to use the gateway via a browser. It just adds another layer of complexity to a system that I am pretty sure was not designed to be complex. I would much rather have the settings more readily available in the app, but I also understand wanting to make the app simpler. My last gripe is the coverage when spreading out the 3 nodes. Before this, I had another 3-node mesh system, I placed the nodes in the same exact spots as the old system, one in the main office, one in the living room, one in the garage. Doing that setup with my old system yielded great coverage, even in my garage which is downstairs and outside a hallway. However, I have no clue what happened with this system, but placing the nodes in the same spot and even trying to fuss around with the one in the garage with positioning, it just BARELY holds a connection to the one in the living room. Like it is hanging on by a single thread. The speeds in the house go from 520/25 down to 3/.2 when in the garage. I will just say that with my old system, I would at get at least 20/3 in the garage. Very disappointing that whatever sensor this device uses to connect to other nodes is weak. Also... only one ethernet port ;(. I understand wanting to force Wifi but... one ethernet port just isn't enough especially if this is designed for 50+ devices ya know? Besides the woes above, I will tell you, the speeds are fantastic when you are in a good coverage zone. They really do compare to Ethernet speed, almost an exact match. The reliability is good, I have had some slow connections but that could be a multitude of reasons, same with some dropped internet, most like ISP fault. I haven't had any issues with it negotiating between 2.4/5/6 GHZ with devices, which is great. I appreciate that device prioritization is off by default and even tells you that it is not needed if your bandwidth is high enough to avoid issues. I do hope that as time goes on, this product improves via Firmware and also app updates, but right now, I just do not see the price justifying the means here. Room to improve, but it is a great alternative to Ethernet in a house.
