Purchased this in March and I too am suddenly having issues with not being able to connect over wifi. Multiple resets and an attempt to re-flash the firmware have left me with a bricked router stuck in an endless boot loop. Do not buy this router!

Reset many times and although this was the fast WiFi speed of over 200mbps I lost connection quite frequently. Did not call tech support because it should work out of the box. Reconnected my older stable AC1900.

Purchased this router to setup DD-WRT to install a network wide VPN. Worked great, even flashed back to original specs and never had a problem. Great speed, rarely drops or needs reset, easy to use software. Recommend for sure!

I read a few other negative reviews saying that they had to constantly reset the router, because of a dropped signal, but I truly had no idea what I was getting into! The vast majority of the reviews were positive, so I decided to take a chance on this router... What a mistake that was! I ended up having to unplug & reset this router anywhere from 2-8 times a day; but I also lost more than 100mbps to my upload speed as well. I'm definitely going to be returning this!

This was very easy to set up and I love the smart wifi app - I can see which devices are connected and easily block one as needed, even from my phone. Comes in handy when the kids aren't supposed to be online. After almost a year I had trouble with it dropping connection multiple times each day, requiring reset. One call to support walked me through rolling back the recent firmware update and all is well again.

I'm using this wireless router primarily as a wireless AP for our home network. I'm easily able to push 700Mbps through the 5GHz channel anywhere in our 1200sqft house. I can connect to the 2.4GHz 5 houses down the street. No resets needed so far.

I bought this router to replace my ancient one, and one of the primary reasons was to use the activity logging feature to monitor my kid's. Unfortunately the logging does not work. The log seems to get reset every time you view it, and even then, there will only be a few records in the log. Absolutely worthless from a monitoring point of view. Fairly unhappy with my purchase.

Worst router I have ever had the displeasure of using. When I first purchased it over a year ago, worked fine. Then after firmware update, it would crash almost every two or three weeks. I would loose my 2.4 GHz band completely-would disappear from network list of available networks completely. I was able to revert back to old firmware once and it worked fine for a bit then it and crashed again loosing both 2.4 and 5 GHz with only Ethernet connections working. After doing factory reset, forgot to turn off firmware update and was now unable to revert back to old firmware. Now I loose my 2.4 GHz band every couple of weeks and have do factory reset every time and reconfigure router each and every time. A real pain, this was a very expensive router. Look at other reviews before you buy-I should have. Common problem with this router. Think I will off load this on Ebay and recoup some off my money. I will mention the problem I have with it. Will never buy another Linksys product again.

Easy to setup. Increased my download speed from 20 mbps to 80 mbps. Increased my upload from 10 mbps to 20 mbps. Sometimes the router needs to be reset to reconnect. Not sure what causes the router to disconnect at times. Disconnect events are rare, but happen. This is not unlike other routers I had in the past.

Normally switching out a Router, Linksys in particular (since I've upgraded three times this year) is a no brainer. Plug the router in, let it update it's firmware, reset all my WiFi Networks to the same SSID and Password and off to the races. Not so with this one. I had problems with the initial setup, and it required me to reset the Router back to factory. It was nice that the error told me how to do it. So props for explaining how to fix the error, as I find that rare still today. Once I reset the box and went though the inital setup again, I was able to connect and reset the network to match my old SSID and passwords for 2.4 and 5Ghz. Why is this important? I've over 30 connected devices in my house, some with keyboards, but a lot without. So finding, accessing and resetting my very long password is, well not something I would do unless I could see a huge benefit. I wasn't seeing anything with this router over my old EA9500. I know it can do 160Mhz for more throughput, but it's future, I don't have any devices that can. Nice to have future proof features, but since I've nothing to take advantage of it, resetting the whole house to use this router isn't in the card. Now if you have fewer devices or don't have a MU-MIMO AC Router, there isn'thing wrong with this. In fact I like some edits they did make to the firmware. On the network monitor it had a bandwidth tracker. A handy feature and nice. I did once I noticed I would have to reset wireless password switch it into Bridge mode and tested it with my desktop. It handled great. I got throughput and on 5Ghz Its signal strength was matching that of my EA9500 based db signal strength. So as I said, if you need to upgrade this isn't a bad choice. Get good range and speed, with some neat future proofing once they start releasing newer devices that can use 160 channel size. Now the saving grace may be that the Open Source Firmware it supports will allow me to flash this and not have to change my passwords, but I doubt it will replace my EA9500 anytime soon, but be an additional add-on to my network, either as wireless birdge/space router/test bed for the Open Source Firmware. I am just disappointed I could do a 15 minute quick swap like usual and get my over devices and PC's to pick up without an issue, but don't let my experience stop you if you are looking to upgrade. This is a solid router, I just have odd needs, and remember the Open Source nature of this device may give it longer legs.

I bought this router for its robust dual-band WiFi signal, Mu-Mimo speed, and OpenWRT capabilities. What I got was a router that can't maintain a WiFi internet connection for more than eight hours. What I mean by that is my wireless device shows a good connection to my network, but cannot access the internet. Wired devices on the same router/network are fine, but each wireless device, 2.4 and 5g, cease to have WAN service until the router is reset. Then access is restored for 10 minutes to 10 hours. I have updated, downdated, reflashed firmware until the cows came home, nothing seems to fix this problem. It looks as though this is a common problem with this router, and I did not catch it in the reviews, so BEWARE!!! Avoid this device unless you are a masochist.

I've had this router 7 months. Up until the last month it has been great, in the last month however the connectivity to the internet keeps failing for all WiFi connections (not for wired connections). So begins my support saga. While Linksys support is supposed to be free for the first year, they will always try to get you to pay them. The fee is so they can connect and do the work faster by controlling your computer. The first person I was on the phone with seemed to get frustrated with me when I said no. So far they have reset my router to factory settings in the hopes that this will take care of what is clearly a hardware issue. So if you value your time and money don't buy this!

      Hi, GrumpyEngineer,

It's possible that the firmware of your WRT3200ACM Router is corrupted which is causing the Wi-Fi connection to drop. Please email us your Ticket Number at LinksysCares@linksys.com so we can review your case and endorse it to one of our Escalation Engineers for further assistance. This router is hands down the fastest I have used before!! The signal is strong, even in congested areas like condominiums, where multiple wireless routers are broadcasting their signals. Setup was very easy, after I worked through an initial issue. I tried the setup in its manual mode, which it didn't like very much. The Internet light was amber instead of white, so I reset the router and followed the Guided Setup. It was very quick and easy, and after I was able to make the customizations I wanted after. Speed is amazing!!!!! With multiple people surfing the web, Instagram, and YouTube, I was still able to get over 300Mbps over wireless with no problem!!! I highly recommend this router, as its another quality device from Linksys.

Good on WiFi speed; Poor on Set-up

Good rating on wifi speed/performance (once its working). Poor rating on set-up; Overall rating=Average (more like low Average to Fair). Summary: WRT3200ACM gave me the speed I was expecting once I got it working; Set-up was frustrating and I experienced an unexplained loss in speed and lost 2.4 GHz signal after 3 months which gave me 2nd thoughts on my purchase. Details: Bought the WRT3200ACM to replace a 5 y.o. non-Linksys router because of slow wifi speed (my internet plan is 2nd to lowest tier [Preferred] with Cox). Went from ~10-14 Mbps to ~64-69 Mbps with the Linksys - great! However, set-up was frustrating. Its not unusual to need a firmware update right out of the box, but the router became unresponsive during this update. Had to reset it to factory settings and start over. Got it working, but only had 2.4 GHz, no 5 GHz. Reset again...got both signals. Nothing obvious to indicate why only one signal available initially. Turned off auto firmware update feature. Router is working for 3 months (installed in Feb'17), then it drops speed unexpectedly to 1 Mbps. Cable modem is working - did a direct connect using Ethernet cable to my laptop. Did several router and modem reboots - no improvement in speed and the 2.4 signal disappears (logged into the router, the dashboard is telling me 2.4 is broadcasting, but no device in the house can connect to it). Manually updated the firmware, still 1 Mbps...reset to factory settings, flashed with firmware update, rebooted router and modem several more times and finally 2.4 and 5 GHz become available. I consider myself an above average consumer as far as setting up/troubleshooting computer equipment. The WRT3200ACM raised my frustration level. The device works, but may take some patience to get there. Hopefully others have had a better experience.

    Strongest Router Ever Owned

Finally all the smart tvs, wireless printer, 1 Playstation, 1 Xbox, 3 laptops, 2 desktops, and 3 cell phones can all get online throughout the house AT THE SAME TIME and there is absolutely no problems. I can't believe it! The speeds throughout this two story home are amazing. I'm paying for 200mbs and I'm actually seeing what I'm paying for thanks to having two wonderful devices.... a good modem and a solid router. Now with that said let me warn you about a novice mistake I made setting this puppy up. Word of advice, you are better off purchasing your own modem and connecting it to this router because if its cheaper than renting a modem because if you look at your bill you would have paid for a brand new modem by the end of the year - so go buy a modem too that compliments this router (I purchased an ARRIS SURFboard SB6190 modem too). But regardless of whether you also buy a modem or not, if the router and modem don't communicate you will have to UNPLUG EVERYTHING (network cables, power cables), get a paper clip, plug in the power to your modem and do a RESET by pressing for 30 seconds on the modem first and wait for all the lights to turn back on. Then plug in the power to your Linksys use the same paper clip on the Linksys router holding RESET for 30 seconds and then shutting it down and turning it back on. Once the router is fully back on showing a solid power and Internet signal connect the router to your modem. Then once after you do that connect your PC to 1st slot on the router and set up your username and password for your router. If you do this in the beginning you will never have a problem. If you don't then you might have a problem. Here is why this could be a problem, your modem whether owed by your or rented from a cable company is accustomed to the previous router so when you replace it with a new one the router may not recognize it. This can go either way meaning if you replace the modem and you are still using the same router you would still need to do these steps. It is a good thing to do regardless when setting up either a router or modem or both. Trust me. You will save yourself headaches and calling support for your modem or router. And this tip goes for not only this router or modem, but any router or modem replacement. I love this router. It is well worth the money!

I will never buy another Linksys router again. I always used Linksys router for my home network. And although I was disappointed with the previous. I decided to buy another one. Well this one stop working after a year exactly. I have reset it, updated the firmware, rebooted it several times. I am still having issues. Linksys products have gone down. I am taking my money elsewhere. I know if I called them they will probably try to sell me another instead of replacing it, because this one is no longer under warranty. I am done!

No response on the online chat either. This was my first Linksys. I have always had NETGEAR and never had any issues. I guess I will be going back to NETGEAR.

We had a Linksys AC1750 for 2 years. Though the house is only 2,000 sq. ft. there were problems because of materials used in construction necessitating a range extender at the far end of the house. We decided to upgrade when the WRT3200ACM was on sale. We are impressed with the range that covers the house. Though the signal is fair at the far end of the house, we decided to keep the Linksys AC1200 extender. The WRT3200ACM was easy to set up and connect our devices. The only problem arose when for some reason we could not connect with the new password which was denied after many resets. With the assistance of Linksys Tech support, the problem was solved by resetting the password within the Smart local access and not through the web Linksys site. This is a good router, worth the money, and love the Linksys Smart. interface

I was using an older Linksys router and was having a terrible problem with dropping connections. I had reset the router multiple times hoping that would fix the problem, but nothing worked. I was researching new routers and was just about ready to order a nice looking, mesh type of router (hoping for better coverage) when I received an email with the opportunity to receive a free sample from Linksys in exchange for my honest feedback. The email stated I was receiving a Max-Stream AC1900 router; however, I received this one instead, the WRT3200ACM. From previous experience with the Linksys Smart WiFi account, I had set my ISP modem/router to bridge mode and had to set my IP address and account info manually. At first it took a while to get the router to let me set it up manually (I might have missed a step), it kept trying to search for my internet connection and then stopped the setup when it couldn't connect. Once I reset everything and found the step to enter my settings manually it connected immediately. I immediately tested the devices we were having problems with on dropping and it worked perfectly! I have noticed a few drops on my PC, but only when connected on the 2.4G band (live in a city in a condo so lots of routers/devices in the area) and it reconnects immediately. Although our speed seems to be the same, I have noticed devices connect a lot faster to the internet when starting up streaming devices than they did with the old router. I prefer to keep the settings at defaults, but I feel that I could get even better performance with a few tweaks. I also love the ability to add a USB printer on the router and a separate hard drive for storage - the connections work flawlessly. I also set up the Android app to control the router remotely and have used it to turn on/off the guest account; it all works great. Glad I stayed with Linksys - great router so far!
