    Logitech can do better

This mouse has a comfortable shape and size especially for those with medium sized hands. I don't think it would work for users with very small or very large hands. It has nice matte material on the top that prevents sweat build up, and the sides have a nice rubbery feel. The main buttons click nicely and the laser tracks well, as this is a wired mouse (i hate wireless) and thus there is none of that annoying signal lag. The fatal flaw in this mouse is the wheel, which is horrible. It is almost impossible to middle-click without also tilt-clicking and vice versa. The wheel is also too small and doesn't provide good rolling or clicking action. It feels cheap and rickety. (and note I am very good at using input devices and don't have 'fat fingers') I expect much more than this for a premium-priced mouse from a top-tier company like Logitech. Instead of this mouse I would reccomend the Logitech G500 Gaming Mouse - even for non gaming applications - which can typically be had on-sale in this same price range. Overall it is far superior: the (similar clicky-or-smooth) wheel is bigger and scrolls, tilts and clicks perfectly ; the teflon feet are bigger and glide better ; the weights are adjustable; the laser is gaming-grade and thus the most accurate tracking one can get; it just feels to be of much higher quality than the M500. The main drawbacks of the G500 is that it is slightly bigger and the sides are made out of a coarse material which can be irritating, and the thumb buttons are not as big as those on the M500, although I find the G500's thumb buttons to be superior as they click and respond much 'tighter' and just feel to be of higher quality.

Good but mouse wheel feels loose

I work on a computer using CAD software most of the day and wanted a good mouse to use. The mouse is responsive and feels comfortable in the hand. The free spinning mode is useful since I'm always zooming in and out of cad models. With the scroll wheel locked it still feels a little 'loose' when spinning it unlike a mouse that doesn't have this feature. The biggest downside is the hyper fast scrolling. The mouse wheel tilts from side to side like most mice but you can tilt it forward and back to scroll through documents/spreadsheets hyper fast...it feels like the mouse wheel is on 4 small springs and can wobble slightly in all four directions all the time when using it. It's minimal but very noticeable. Not hard to get used to but would like to have had a nice stiff side to side only clicking wheel. Noticeable enough though that someone used my mouse to show me something on my computer and asked what's wrong with your mouse? It's not a deal breaker for the price. The side buttons for moving forward and back in web pages are useful and positioned where you don't accidently click them.

Great on both PC and Mac

I use this mouse on both Windows XP and Mac OS X 10.6 using a KVM switch. I installed the Logitech Control Center SW on both systems, and they both work great. I've never had a mouse with extra buttons before, and they are really nice to have. I love the ergonomics. The mouse is very easy to hold and the buttons are easy to operate. Many reviews complain about the scroll wheel, but I love it. I keep it on the "flick" (no click) mode. I can scroll fast but still stop the scrolling where I want. The left-right scrolling works fine as well. It's nice to have the "Applications Switcher" on the Windows XP. It's sort of like Expose on the Mac, although it's a bit clunky. On the PC, you need to press the application switcher button to bring up the visible windows, but then you need to click with the left button to select the window you want. On the Mac the same button can be used to both bring up Expose, and also select the desired window. One warning for Mac users: The driver function that lets you set application-specific button functions appears to be PC-only; I couldn't find similar functionality in the Mac driver.

So many people underestimate the value of a proper sized/shaped mouse. Everybody wants the cute little wireless mice even for desktops! I am on a budget but I would have purchased the new Performance Mouse MX if it was wired believe it or not. I'm just not a wireless fan. I figured this is the next best thing that has a cord and is ALMOST as comfortable. If you haven't used one of logitech's more advanced mice, try one! The fast scroll feature is great. Zooming in and out of my CAD models has never been easier. Scrolling through long web pages and lists is so quick. For those who don't know. The little button sitting just behind the wheel actually releases the ratcheting mechanism and allows the weighted scroll wheel to spin freely. GREAT feature! Its comfortable, its laser precise, and its on the lower price range. Stop overlooking the value of fit and form. If you use your computer at extended lengths, you need a mouse that won't make your hand cramp up. I only wish it was a tad bit wider... then again, had i bought the Performance Mouse MX, i wouldn't be complaining.

I wanted a mouse that would result in less hand fatigue while spending hours on the computer, particularly while doing Photoshop work. I prefer wired mice - no batteries to deal with, and poor wireless mice just don't feel responsive. I like that someone still makes them with a cord. As for usage, it is OK. It doesn't glide on my mouse pad as well as I would like, and I've got what is supposed to be a nice mousepad. It also feels a bit heavy - perhaps due to the lack of glide - and has only mildly helped with hand fatigue as far as I can tell to date. I know this may be a lot to ask for, but I would love it if this were both larger (to fit my hand size) and lighter (to lessen fatigue), and for it to have a horizontal scroll wheel in the thumb-area. The top wheel does tilt left-right but there is only one sideways scroll speed, and it is very slow. Still, if you are looking for a basic wired mouse, this will get the job done, though there are probably less expensive options.

On days off from work I spend probably at least 12 hours on the computer, and on average about 4-5 hours on work days. Needless to say that is a lot of clicking and I wear out mice quicker than my socks, I wanted a heavy duty, CORDED mouse (to eliminate the choppiness that sometimes comes with wireless) that was quiet, comfortable in my hand and that would/could withstand the excessive use. Another problem I experienced on several occasions was the cord pulling apart where it connects to the mouse. This mouse has exceeded my expectations in comfort, design, durability and quietness. It is heavier than most other mice, but that is because it is well built with metal internal parts.

    Great performing laser mouse

I was on the lookout for a suitable laser mouse which is corded... I was a fan of cordless input devices before, but ever since I had a bad experience of losing battery power during in-game, I would not want to use a cordless device again. This thing fits well on my hand, has a nice rubbery finish on it, and so far, did not fail me even once! Though this mouse is not a gaming grade one, it seems to perform really well on some of my FPS games. I failed to see the Logitech G9 from the Best Buy site, which can only be bought online and is an Outlet item already, but I might purchase that one soon and give it a shot - will post another review if ever. Overall, the Logitech M500 is a highly recommended product!

It's a little bit big and bulky, but I got used to it right away. Nowadays people tend to use wireless mouses, but in my opinion those are more prone to malfunction and plus you need to replace batteries. If you're like me and want to keep things old-school with a corded mouse, this one is not a bad choice. Has a scroll wheel in the center. This mouse works perfect on my MacBook, but since my MacBook doesn't have a USB port I had to buy a USB-C to USB adapter.

This is a pretty basic mouse, I bought it for size and weight. That's about all that was good. The scroll wheel is very loose, even when making sure the scroll wheel 'brake' is engaged. I like a rough scroll. If you disengage the scroll break this thing scrolls for days on one spin... but here is the problem. The scroll wheel on mine failed to work, and has never worked. Whether it be on Windows, Linux or Mac. It's not the best mouse, it ended up in my 'box of semi-unwanted things', I use it in a pinch. If you're looking for a good mouse as a daily driver, this isn't it. Go get yourself a better mouse than this.

Most Bluetooth mice work consistently well, but what if you are using a Bluetooth keyboard and Bluetooth mouse and accidentally shut off the system's Bluetooth transmitter. Oops! You reboot and there's that horrible message - please connect a mouse to continue. So this corded Logitech mouse - very good quality at low cost, can save the day. Get one and keep in in a drawer next to your Mac or PC. It will save you hours of frustration.

I still use my mouse, just can't/won't get the hang of using the touch pad. With everything being made smaller and smaller the very small mouse just doesn't work with my hand. Since I'm on the computers 8 to 10 hours a day my hand feels like it will cramp up at any time. With this full grown mouse it feels great and my fingers don't feel fatigued after long usage.

    Decent mouse for the price

This mouse is a decent one, with just a few problems. First, the smooth scrolling option has caused some issues where it will scroll repeatedly after you physically stop. Turning that feature off seems to have helped a bit. The mouse can also feel a bit over sensitive. It seems to require a very clean surface to work on, which isn't bad, but if you happen to get a bit of dirt or grime underneath it from use, it can start to feel awkward. Maybe that's just me needing to get used to it, though.

I was trying to find mouse without a scroll wheel because my fingers would get sore because I scroll a lot for what I do but not many out there, so i took a chance on this corded mouse with a scroll, I was very happy the scroll is smooth and it has an option to have it on the 'clicking' while scrolling or no clicking and for $25 its better then some of the wireless ones I've bought in the past for $50 and up. Very happy with this purchase

It is a laser mouse, no matter what the specs say

    Posted
    hawaiijohn

Specifications listed here say the Logitech M500 is a "ball mouse" and has no optical technology. Wrong. This is, indeed, a laser mouse, and a very good one at that. So don't believe the specs as listed here. I almost canceled my order when I noticed that ball mouse/non laser stuff. Fortunately, I found the same mouse listed elsewhere with the correct specs, so I was able to go ahead and take advantage of the excellent price here at bestbuy. Not only would I recommend this mouse, I ordered another M500 for my wife. And she loves hers too.

My MS Intellimouse finally gave up the ghost. This mouse is almost as good. The only thing I would change would be pressing the scroll wheel. It has all of these fancy things it can do. I just want to use it to open a new widow. Sometimes pressing it straight down will not do this. You have to press at about a 45 degree angle. It takes some getting used to.

I wanted a fairly basic corded mouse. I favor Logitech and this mouse is perfect. There are a couple of thumb buttons. I didn't need or want a really fancy or game mouse with lots of buttons and adjustments that I would not use. I was very happy to find exactly what I wanted. It's performing exactly as I was hoping it would.

I replaced my previous mouse with this exact mouse. I had previous one for a very long time. I also had a wireless mouse nearby and at times it would not work until I gave it a rest and would go back to this mouse that never failed me until many years later. I decided I would use this mouse all the time and not worry about the wireless one.

The Logitech corded mouse model M-U0007 is very comfortable in the hand. The corded mouse is lighter in weight than a wireless battery operated mouse, and does not require charging. Laser eye is very accurate. All buttons and the wheel are easy to operate and can be customized in the Logitech Setpoint Settings.

I bought this mouse for my college laptop. Originally just to surf the web or projects. But I began to use to use it for video games later. It's got good tracking. The wire is okay length. There's a button in the middle for either long scrolling or just semi scrolling. Overall. It's what you pay for and more. It's lasted a long time.

I've always been a fan of Logitech products, but this mouse is a little off. I get quite a bit of mouse pointer jump - you know, when all of a sudden your pointer appears somewhere else on the screen for no reason? I also get what I call "back-roll" on the wheel - I'll be scrolling and sudden;y the screen will snap back in the opposite direction for 2-3 pages. Annoying
