    Not just for gaming. I never saw the need for a mouse pad with an optical mouse, but after a few years I wore down the finish on the desk I use for work and the mouse got "sticky" where I couldn't hit where I was aiming without it jumping and overshooting. Got this mouse pad (and a duplicate for the gaming rig) and problem solved. I can point and click without sticky ness again.
