Simulation racing has come a long way since its humble origins in the late 1980s, with its popularity exploding in 2020 thanks to televised sim-racing broadcasts in lieu of actual racing. Logitech is a known name in the space, having made dozens of wheels for PC and console gaming alike since the late 1990s, coming to the forefront of affordable sim-racing gear. Logitech’s line of “G” racing wheels represent the top of their product stack, stepping up from basic arcade racing wheels and into what’s widely considered the minimum spec for competitive sim racing, thanks to their full 900-degree range of motion, dual force feedback motors, and clutch pedal support. The G923 is Logitech’s newest offering in the G wheel lineup, bringing back a proven design and adding a new haptic feedback system for more detail. But with little more than incremental updates elsewhere, the fourth release of the same basic wheel that debuted nearly 15 years ago is difficult to recommend in a niche, but competitive, game controller segment. I used iRacing on PC and Gran Turismo Sport on PS4 to test this wheel as both games currently support all of the wheel’s functions and features. - Unboxing and Setup Shipping in the same size box as generations prior, Logitech’s G923 feels substantial as the pedal base is weighted for additional traction on carpet. The box has additional space that fits the Logitech G Shifter (sold separately) so that you can pack the complete wheel setup away if you’re using non-hardpoint mounting options. The steering wheel clamps to a table or desk using two dials that pop up to adjust and down to lock, which tighten or loosen the clamps underneath. The clamps support tables up to about 4 inches thick without the plastic spacers, and as thin as one-quarter inch with them. The clamps alone hold the wheel firmly in place, though there are hardpoints for M6 screws for mounting to a driving cockpit or other permanent solution. The pedals have both rubber feet for hardwood floors, and a pop-down carpet gripping plate, but neither hold the base all too well. The pedal base also has M6 hardpoints. Logitech makes setting up the G923 straightforward for PS4 users - simply update the console and plug the wheel into an open USB port. PC setup was a little more frustrating as the indicated support page to download the Logitech G Hub software did not exist at the time of review, so I had to peruse their website to find and install. - A Note on Force Feedback Mechanisms The Logitech G923 is an evolutionary upgrade from the company’s prior wheel offerings. The wheel’s sensors and primary force feedback mechanism are identical to the G920/G29 and G27 racing wheels that preceded it, all of which share a tweaked version of the G25’s mechanism that debuted in late 2006. All of these wheels use gear-driven force feedback, where small motors are connected to the steering shaft via metal cogs. The next step above gear-driven is belt-driven, where motors spin pulleys on a belt wrapped around the steering shaft, delivering smoother and stronger force feedback. Logitech does not offer a belt-driven wheel at this time. Gear-driven is typically considered the entry point for serious (competitive) sim racing. While most offerings in the category output low torque and have somewhat rough steering feel, they make up the difference in durability and affordability. I can’t speak to the G923’s longevity after only a few days, but I bought a Logitech G25 over 14 years ago which is on its third owner, still running strong after over a hundred thousand virtual miles. I have no doubt the G923 will last for many years as the mechanism is virtually identical. - Force Feedback Impressions Having used several entry level and high end racing wheels over the last few years, starting with Logitech’s own Driving Force Pro many years ago, using the G923 for the first time brought back memories of many hours spent learning virtual circuits and going for wins. The leather wrapped steering wheel, brushed paddle shifters, and metal pedal faces are all premium touches that carry back to Logitech’s first G wheel, the G25. The G923 feels great in hand and underfoot, and adding a G Shifter further expands the premium feel into a full simulation setup. The motion of the wheel isn’t perfectly smooth - you can feel the gearing of the motor mechanism prominently - but it is still easy to turn the wheel when no force is active. When the force does kick in, the wheel’s motors provide a good sensation of the steering column being nudged one way or another over small imperfections and camber changes on the virtual road. This is of course dependent on your game providing accurate force feedback; simulations like iRacing and Gran Turismo will more accurately convey what the front wheels are doing than arcade racers like Need for Speed or Burnout Paradise. Overall the force feedback is on the weaker side, coming in at or below the amount of force you’ll find in racing games at a proper arcade. It’s enough to simulate small forces acting upon the car’s front wheels, but large effects resulting from oversteer, collisions, or loss of grip are very muted on the G923. I had a lot of difficulty finding the edge of grip in both Gran Turismo Sport and iRacing, causing me to lose control or slow down in situations I would normally handle with aplomb in higher-spec racing wheels. Some of this may be from familiarity, admittedly, but the time it takes the G923 to respond to harsh action is readily apparent. - Control Impressions The pedal base, like the wheel base, is an evolutionary upgrade from the prior Logitech G wheels. The major upgrades for this model are the brushed metal pedal faces for a more premium appearance, and a change to the brake’s return spring to make it much stiffer and progressive than before. The brake is much firmer than prior models, all but mandating the pedals be hard-mounted or otherwise held in place, but the result is a much more natural, progressive brake pedal that is easier to modulate with the right amount of brake force. It’s still a potentiometer-based brake that measures the angle of the pedal rather than a load cell that measures the pressure applied to the pedal (more accurately simulating real brakes), but the improvement here from the older G wheels’ pedals is substantial. Back on the wheel, all of the PS4’s primary buttons are present save for the analog sticks and R1/R2 (which are now the shift paddles). These all have a mechanical click to them that ensures button presses, while the d-pad is passable for menu or HUD navigation. An additional set of increment/decrement (+/-) buttons and a scroll dial with enter button allow for mid-race adjustments in supported games like Gran Turismo Sport. These buttons work great to add useful secondary features to race cars, though the scroll dial feels cheap and is a little distracting to use. - TrueForce New for the G923 is a haptic feedback system Logitech dubs “TrueForce.” This is a vibration feedback system atop the wheel’s force feedback that attempts to add more depth to the forces acting upon the wheel. This adds a front-to-rear dimension to the force feedback to simulate forces that don’t act upon the angle of the front wheels directly; when you run over a bump or crack on the road at speed, you don’t necessarily feel the wheel push one way or another, but you’ll feel the jolt or vibration through the rest of the car. TrueForce aims to replicate that sort of sensation without the more complex and expensive option of attaching a transducer (a low-frequency speaker similar to a subwoofer) to a simulator cockpit that mimics the same. TrueForce works surprisingly well. In both iRacing and Gran Turismo Sport, the haptic feedback delivers a good sensation of road feel and engine coarseness, both of which augment the wheel’s force feedback and create more “depth” of force in the process. The only downside I found against this system was unlike transducers built in to some other racing wheels, the haptic feedback transmits entirely into the steering column and not into the rest of the driving simulator cockpit. Transducers will vibrate the entire frame, delivering the road feel sensation through the wheel stand which can be felt in the pedals. - Value & Bottom Line This is where the G923 begins to fall flat against its competition for serious sim racers. Despite its durability and system compatibility over competing models, the $399 MSRP for pedal and wheel kit is a tough sell made tougher by the need to purchase the shifter separately if you desire the full manual transmission experience. Older models in the Logitech G Wheel lineage had the shifter included, and the kits launched at lower MSRPs than the G923 wheel and pedal combo alone. The G923’s MSRP begins to encroach on belt-driven racing wheel territory, which is a major step up in force strength, detail, and smoothness. I was hoping Logitech would have updated their mechanism to a belt-drive to compete, but TrueForce is the only feature they bring to the table at this price. Ultimately then, the question is whether TrueForce alone justifies the higher MSRP. It’s a very convincing effect, but in my opinion it isn’t worth sacrificing an entire tier of force feedback quality just for haptics. This is by and large the wheel’s biggest downfall - TrueForce would be very much welcome on a belt-driven wheel, delivering the high quality all-in-one sim racing solution at a great price point similar to what made Logitech’s G Wheels famous in the first place. At the time the G25 was unrivaled at its $299 price point, but competing offerings have improved greatly in the decade and a half since and now compete very closely. With more options on the market today that deliver a better core driving experience for similar money, I can’t recommend the G923 at MSRP as an entry point into sim racing.

This is an amazing quality racing wheel and pedals. It works for both a PS4 (Logitech says is also working on seeing if it will be supported on the upcoming PS5) and PC. I'm using it mainly on a PC. I must say the quality is amazing, the wheel feels super sturdy and has realistic amount of force when turning it and feedback. I love the new feature Trueforce, however very few games support it right now, heck even some games have trouble configuring the new wheel. I'n example, Project cars 2, recognizes the wheel and pedals, but everything is out of whack: The clutch was actually the gas pedal, the shifters weren't recognized and the super nice RPM lights would not work. I had to go to the games setup menu and reconfigure the above and then it was just fine (trueforce is not supported). Once I did those steps, it was fine and worked as intended! One important thing though, the wheel clamps that attach it to your desk don't open much (big oversight), if your desk has a thickness of more than 1 or 1.5 inches, you will be out of luck, as there is no way to clamp it (and it must be clamped, otherwise the rotational force will make it spin out of control). I had to use it on another desk with my laptop instead of my very nice desktop (49' super ultrawide monitor) due this constraint. I may get one of those nice racing chairs that have mounts for racing wheels in the future. Now, onto the pedals. They have real good force on them, feel realistic and the whole assembly stays firmly on the ground. I have carpet and the assembly can be used either on it or hard floor (for carpet it has some "teeth" you can deploy and it will grip carpet no problem). As always, many adjustments and calibrations can be done via Logitech's Ghub software. Its very easy and straight forward to use. I love that the racing wheel has rpm indicator lights (when they work). I highly recommend this racing wheel, you won't be disappointed, however bare in mind game support just started and only about 3 games fully support it out of the box.

The G923 racing wheel and pedal offers a feedback system that is sure to put any gamer in to a good feel when it comes to racing games. The amount of customization and feedback felt through the wheels and pedals are by far some of the best this industry has to offer. Rather or not this fits the bill for you i will try my best to keep this review as simplistic as possible. First things first, this unit was tested against a PC so keep that in mind. I want to talk about what you can expect to receive out of the box and the quality of the unit. Out of the box you get everything you need to set this unit up to either your ps4 or pc. You get the wheel, pedals and cables necessary. And no this unit does not come with a shifter however there is a port to add one . The quality of the wheel is great. Its wrapped with what appears to be quality vinyl and has the weight and feel of a quality racing wheel you would find in big brands like MOMO. The pedals are a nice stainless finish and spring retention on them are great. One thing i was concerned with was pedal feedback and stability and carpeted surfaces. The pedal feedback is great and feels just like a real car. Customization of the pedals can be adjusted through Logitech's software. One nice feature they added which addressed one of my concerns was the addition of adjustable spikes for carpeted surfaces. There is a release lever which lets out these spikes so that they grip the carpet and don't slide. I have added a picture showing exactly what they look like. The racing wheel is able to be mounted to the edge of your computer desk for easy mounting. My one and only real grip with this unit is the lack of a tilt or height adjustment of the steering column. With not being able to adjust the wheel this means i have to raise or lower my seat to get the right feel. The problem is i like my steering wheels low which means i need to raise my chair which in turn pulls me further away from the pedals. A small gripe nonetheless one worth mentioning. So there is so much to talk about with this unit that it can be a little overwhelming. I don't want to waste a lot of time so im gonna try to focus on the things i feel are important as a consumer. So lets talk about the feed back system of the steering wheel. Through the logitech software you can adjust the resistance of the steering wheel to help with immersion. You can make it as light as a Fisher Price car or as stiff as a big rig. The cool thing about this feature is that lets say you wanna play truck simulator, simply set the wheel to the highest setting and trust me its gonna feel like your driving a big rig. So through the software you can see a list of games that support this feedback system. One of the games that i tested this against was Forza 5. So right off the bat i noticed a couple cool features that i was not expecting to see personally. The steering definitely has a motor built in to it because it will automatically comp the wheel for you before you play the game. It will spin the wheel all the way around zeroing out while it finds dead center. But one of the cooler features is what happens when you pause the game. So lets say your coming around your third bend clocked at about 90 degrees to the left when all of a sudden the wife, girlfriend, ,mom or whoever calls out to you. You have to pause the game and go see what they want right? Well after you come back you see that your wheel has slightly centered itself and now you can't remember your wheel position around that bend right? Well no worries cause the wheel will return to its current position as you unpause the game so that you can keep hitting that bend at your current position before you were rudely interrupted. Now the feedback for Forza wasn't too bad. It wasn't as strong as i thought i would be, but that may be cause the game has not been fully formatted for this set up. However feedback was still good enough to keep me immersed. Depending on how fast i was going through a bend i could feel the wheel fighting me to want to return to center as if centrifugal force was actually playing a part. Imperfections like bumps could be felt as well however the feedback was not as strong as i would of like it to be. The added LED RPM dial was a nice feature to add on the center of the steering wheel letting you know when its time to hit that next shift. In case i forgot to mention before all buttons and paddles can be mapped according to your desire. Overall guys this set up does so much i would be here writing at least 2 pages worth. This unit with the amount of customization you can do is sure to please everyone. At the end of the day for me the only flaw i found was the lack of a tilt/height adjustment of the column. But for me that's not that big of a deal anyways as i plan on making my own racing cage with this set up. So is the high price tag worth the buy? Yes and No. If your a part time or average gamer looking to trade out a controller for a wheel just to make handling easier then i would pass on this unit as you can find way cheaper units that do the job and do it well. However if your a big racing fan or gamer looking for that full blown racing experience then this piece is worth every single penny. If you have a cage or planning on buying or building one then i don't even need to tell you that this set up is a must have. Logitech put out a superb wheel and pedal set up with great feedback. Do yourself a favor and pick one up for those long hauls of wheat as you play Truck Simulator.

I got this Logitech - G923 Racing Wheel and Pedals for my teenage son (age 16) for Christmas, and it did not disappoint at all. We had an old set of pedals/wheel for gaming from the early 2000s, and it had finally kicked the bucket - much to his chagrin. I waffled between this and the G920 (and also G29) due to price, but finally decided to pull the trigger on this one for the seemingly "subtle" differences. I'm so glad I did, because when my son compared it to his friend's setup (G920), he immediately noticed that his was far nicer and had more of a "realistic" feel while driving with them. He even said he could turn the wheel better and it did not have as much of a lag. My son, for some reason, loves games like American Truck Simulator - in addition to other racecar driving ones, so he uses this on his gaming PC often. Initially, he had a few issues trying to get it going on his PC upon initial setup - but I think it was a matter of making sure updates were added, or something along those lines. This was NOT an issue on the PS4. Nevertheless, we figured it out in due time, and it has been performing flawlessly ever since December when he received it. There's a lot of buttons directly on the wheel that you can bind, for easy customization and more automation. He really likes the wider range on the wheel for turning, too. The wrapped steering wheel makes it look aesthetically pleasing, and it feels more realistic to the touch. The feedback is far better than other wheels we played around with. Everything on it is sturdy and durable, and it's built to withstand a lot of frequent gaming. It gives a much more upgraded experience for your games, and is very solid. The acceleration works well on most games while using the pedals, and he is pleased with the performance and sensitivity. We have definitely not regretted the purchase, and feel it's more than worth the extra money for the upgraded look and feel, for a better gaming experience. It gets two thumbs up from us!

This was my first real sim racing wheel and it honestly got me hooked. Being able to actually feel the car through the belt-driven system was amazing and really drew me into sim racing. I’d highly recommend it to anyone who’s just getting started and isn’t sure if they want to stick with it or just try it out. It comes with a clutch too, so that’s super nice, and the quality feels really high. Just remember it’s belt-driven, not direct drive, so if you want direct drive go with something like a Mosa or Fanatec. For the price, this wheel is awesome and perfect for getting into sim racing.

This racing wheel has been very addicting to play with! I have been having a lot of fun playing Gran Turismo Sport with the G923 and the True Force Feedback adds that extra bit of realism that makes the game replayable and challenging. The wheel does have paddle shift and it also is compatible with a 6 speed shift if you want to buy it separately. I never had an issue with the pedals sliding away or moving while I'm switching between brake and gas. There is a clutch on the pedal that feels really smooth and easy to press down. The brake is the toughest of the pedals to press down but it is no issue to me. The wheel itself is small and for me it's more manageable as I have small hands. The set up itself was very simple and quick. I attached the wheel to my desk, running the wires underneath and connected the wheel to my PS4. Once connected, it functions as a controller and I had no issue using only the wheel starting the game and shutting off the PS4 when needed. I have had many hours on the wheel and haven't gotten tired of it. The default force feedback power steering was comfortable for me when playing the GT Sport and I prefer to feel the terrain in the wheel to feel more immersed. It is truly an addictive gaming accessory and was a party favorite for my immediate family and friends.

It’s a great beginner wheel/pedal setup! The force feedback in the wheel is enough to be fun and help you feel the limit of the car. It’s not quite as strong as you might hope, but it’s enough for a beginner. The pedals are ok. Very basic. Almost no resistance in the throttle. Clutch is probably fine, I don’t use it. But the brake is very hard to get accurate just because it’s a potentiometer and not a Hall effect sensor. It has decent resistance for what it is, but very hard to be accurate with it. TL:DR - it’s a good beginner set. The wheel is very functional and provides enough feedback to be helpful and fun. The pedals are fine, but they will be the first upgrade when ready.

This line of pedals has been a staple in sim-racing for many years; sure, there are 'better' wheels and pedals out there, but for the money and how well these tanks are built - don't shy away from this. Let me say it again, you don't need to spend $30,000 on a sim setup to go fast. Grab these and do some online searches for proper settings and you will be just fine!

Logitech has had their previous steering wheel for quite a long time. They finally made this one much better after listening to user feedback. First, it is very easy to setup right out the box. Just make sure you have your wheel mounted or laying flat before you plug in since the wheel does rotate to calibrate once you connect power to it. I was able to test out the features and responses in Grand Turismo Sport. I must say that it felt more natural and the feedback from the wheel has been great. I just hope that over time it doesn't degrading too much. The pedals themselves feel good although it is best to lay it down on carpet because mine still slid slightly on tile floor. Loved the update to the shift gauge indicator, it's a cool plus to include. Also the solid feeling paddle shifters are great to use in game. Now if only I can convince the wife to allow me to get a full on racing chair..
