Cumbersome legacy interface, but second to none

The added ability to handle home automation control as well sets this remote apart. There is almost nothing it can't handle. Using both the base as well as IR built into the remote itself, it's a one stop stop for all of your control needs. The only downside is the interface to configure the remote is cumbersome, and the system takes a long time to sync and configure.

This is an upgrade from the previous logitech I had and I like the app. It's a little cumbersome to get set up, but after that it's good. Wish it had a voice feature built into the remote for so much money.

First of all it took forever to set up and it was confusing and cumbersome. Next, it didn't even work right. It doesn't select the correct inputs, or it will freeze and I'll have to reboot the hub daily. My comcast remote works 100x better than this useless paperweight.

I bought this to replace my old Harmony One that was having issues. This one works well on the basic functions - Watch TV, Listen to Music, Watch a Movie - but is a bit cumbersome to use once you select an activity. If while watching TV, you want to direct tune to a channel, you have to go to Devices/Tuner and find the numeric keypad to do so. I wish they still made the Harmony One, so much easier to use - more user friendly.

it's slow and cumbersome. This is not something that your visitors will be able to pick up and use without training. The remote also forgets what inputs it should turn on for activities which is super annoying. I used my best buy points for purchased so only spent $5 on it but I'd NEVER pay full price for this remote. I think with some refinement this could be an amazing remote but it seems pretty outdated for what it's.

So I've been trying the various generations of harmony remotes from back in 2010. Always hated them. The whole activity thing was just far too cumbersome and far too much work/effort for simple functions. Being a best buy junkie...I'm always looking for something to buy...and sure enough I thought OK let's try this years version... So glad I did! Logitech finally has got it straightened out with the activity function. The whole interface is a million times improved. Being able to program with the remote/ipad is awesome. The Harmony app is also great. I'm using a home theater with maybe 10 devices. Anyways...definitely recommend. If you tried the harmony remotes in the past and weren't impressed, try again, this might win you over.

This thing is awesome! I have had other harmony remotes and this one is by far the best. The buttons are well laid out and easy to use. The range of this remote is unreal. I can be standing in my kitchen through walls and 40 feet from the receiver, tv, blu ray player and it controls the electronics no problem. The one negative I have is that when you are changing channels on the touch screen and punching in numbers it is a bit cumbersome. For example - if you want to go to channel 360 I need to press 0360 on the touchscreen of the remote. It responds well, but having an actual keypad of buttons would be nice. Trade-off would be that the remote would be physically bigger. At any rate, that little thing is still no enough for me to give it any less of a star. 5 stars on this one - nice work Logitech!

This is my third Harmony. My first was a 650 and my second was an 890. The 890 stopped accepting a charge so I went for the Elite. It's a good remote. It does RF which is key for me since my equipment is in the basement below the room where I use the remote. The programming for the 890 was done via the web and now, for the Elite, it's all done on your phone/tablet which for me is an iPhone. The programming is simple but not as simple as the old website. I also find that programming is very fussy -- I sometimes have to tell it two or three times that I want something to work a certain way before it saves it. For example, I've told it three times I don't want the remote to power-off the PS4 yet it still powers it off when I press the "Off" button. Yet, for the Xbox, TiVo and AppleTV it has remembered the setting (after two tries for the TiVo and three tries for the ATV). It's also very slow. When I press "Watch TV" it powers everything on and sets everything correctly but I'm unable to press the volume up/down for over five seconds after I see the picture. Annoying, but it works. We don't really use the iOS app for controlling the TV but I can see how it might be handy on occasion but to me it's a bit cumbersome to unlock your phone, launch an app and wait for it to connect to the hub before being able to do anything. The touchscreen is constantly getting bumped and you end up changing channels or making a setting change accidentally. The 890's screen was less sensitive and more adept at being incorporated into a remote control product. I'd recommend the Elite but only if you get a deal on it. At around $350 it's just too expensive for the quality. It's really about a $150 product. I got it for the $100 off with the trade-in of my 890 which made it more palatable, but I'd still argue $250 is too much.
