Wanted to get rid of the wires from my desk and was in the market for a wireless keyboard. I "typed" on all of the keyboards on display (i am sure people thought i was a little crazy) but I am rather picky about touch. I am on the keyboard for hours at a time with my work and I wanted something that I felt had a easy touch and not feel like I am banging away. This did the trick for me. The backlit keys are a plus, but was not my main reason for buying. It was just the feel and ease of typing. It is much thinner than my wired keyboard and so lighter. it also has a rounded off edge so if you are letting your wrists rest there, it is easy on them. I also like the battery indicator. I could have gotten a much less expensive keyboard if that was all I looking for was price, but, as I said, I spend hours at a time working on the computer and I find it amazingly comfortable. Glad I went with this. Oh, and one more thing. My old keyboard, the F-keys were all in one long row with no breaks. The F-keys on this are grouped in fours, much more convenient and easier to find which one I need, as a lot of things I do for my work is configured into them for shortcuts. The grouped keys are a must also that I didn't even realized I needed and I didn't even notice that until I got it out and started using it. Another great feature.

I have to say, after having had this wireless keyboard for a long time now, it is one of the best that I've used. I did a lot of research before purchasing this as I had specifics of what I wanted out of the keyboard. I wanted a wireless, backlit, accurate typing experience from the keyboard. I also was willing to pay a little more for such, but not where it would completely bleed the bank account. However, I knew for good quality that will last, it would initially be a little more than your standard keyboard. Having said that, in finding the Logitech wireless illuminated keyboard K800, I felt all the details matched up and I made the decision to get it. As I initially mentioned, I have loved the thing. The battery lasts long between charges, has accurate typing of keys that even as the battery is starting to go, I don't notice much of an issue with. Love the backlit feature when you go to press a key even in dim light. Has a well made feel to it, but not too heavy. Can use even with tablets if you can plug the usb wireless dongle to communicate, as I've used it even with an iPad. Also can use if you have a supported wireless mouse as it can free up one of the usb pours on your computer. So an excellent buy if you decide to purchase that I can't praise enough!

I've been looking at all the illuminated keyboards out there for a while with this one always in the back of my mind. I like the Logitech brand as a whole having a few of their products like speakers and remotes. The price was always too high I thought. It went on sale so I snapped up two of them. First reaction was the key stroke feel. My old keyboards being Microsoft ones were a very noisy plastic sound and mechanical. The Logitech is a softer sound ... a somewhat organic feel if that makes any sense. There is no "key rattle" with your fingers just resting on the keys. Second was the illumination which has taken a bit to get used to. I left it to the default settings so what happens is when your hand goes over the keyboard it lights up. Then, with no activity, they turn off to conserve battery life. Move your hands back on and they are back on. I think I would prefer them to have a switch to just turn them on for each session ... which I believe you can do in the settings. The glow is nice, colors would be a nice option, and brightness is controllable. It's a full keyboard with a calculator button which I've always liked, a nice palm rest on the bottom, and a keyboard tilt adjustment. Battery life seems to be pretty good with the default settings as I have yet to charge it after a few months. I'm sure changing the illumation to brighter and "on" longer will shorten that life. All in all a worthy keyboard.

    Flawless wireless illuminated keyboard!

I honestly wish I had bought this Logitech K800 illuminated keyboard long ago. I often work on my PC or Laptop very late at night and have always been bothered by having to resort to unnecessary and distracting ambient lighting. Everything about this keyboard works flawlessly. Keys are comfortable, variable brightness feature is a good idea, and even the special functions of the "F" keys are very usefully configured. The glow through the letters/numerals of each key is very clear and bright while at the same time casting very little unwanted light between keys. And I prefer the clear white lighting to the odd colors offered on some other keyboards. I still marvel at the technology which allows the lighting to quickly fade out when not typing and then magically senses my fingers approaching to instantly resume illumination. The batteries hold power surprisingly long. I have not needed to recharge with the USB cable even though I have used the keyboard daily for a couple weeks - and without even bothering to save power with the "on/off" switch conveniently located at the top. The unifying USB receiver is one more nice perk. I have a compatible Logitech wireless mouse which I easily set to share that same tiny receiver and it's great to be able to reduce USB port clutter. I have already recommended this keyboard to several friends and even bought another as a gift for my brother. I don't think anyone would be disappointed.

I love the keyboard so far after six weeks of use. I have probably written some 40 pages in Microsoft Word with it. I had looked into getting a wireless keyboard for some time and went to Staples to get one. I was going to get a wireless solar recharge keyboard but they were out and did not offer a raincheck. I went to the Best Buy next door and they had this backlit wireless so I finally caved in and popped for the extra. I'm bummed it was not available in solar recharge but that's really my only complaint. The only other small thing was the H key made a tiny little squeak for a little while there but it went away. I took the key off and couldn't find anything. It wasn't that annoying but I thought I'd mention it. It lights really bright but I keep it on the lowest setting because it's enough for me. I have only charged it once in this time but it wasn't dead when I charged it; it was just one bar down so I plugged it in. I really enjoy the clicks the keys make. This is actually important to me when keyboard shopping as I like a nice click when pressing the key. I have two other keyboards and one is from an '80's computer. I adapted it to my computer through two different adapters run in series. I did this because I like the clicks the keys make. Just giving you an idea on how serious I am about that so trust when I say the clicks on this Logitech are enjoyable.

I LOVE this keyboard. The battery life is superb unless you turn the back light way way up well beyond where you might need it. No more fumbling around at night trying to see what keys I'm pressing. This is a great buy! GREAT buy. I'm going to upgrade the mouse soon though as a standard 3 button isn't cutting the mustard for MMO's. But with my first build this is a great combo with a Logitech paired mouse and a Logitech G930 headset. Got everything on sale, and best buy had the best price on the keyboard! As opposed to 130$ @ Micro Center. The battery is internal and the keyboard goes idle if your hands aren't on it. I don't know what the sensor is but the keyboard knows if you're touching it or not and lights up accordingly. I would buy several if I had a need. This is such a great product! KUDOS to Logitech. I'm bought hook line and sinker. Big ups to Logitech for this keyboard!

Fortunately for me, I had purchased one of these units about a year ago, so I had already tested it to the MAX. I am typing my review on it right now, so I can tell you that this is one of the nicest keyboards I have ever used. The feel is smooth and fairly quick (if you are a fast typist like myself typing about 80 words a minute, it will slow you down until you get used to it, but eventually I adjusted to it). It also has the 10 key number-pad, as well as extra buttons for various Windows functions. The back-lighting is fantastic because it will adjust toe the light of the room. As I type, it is about Noon in my room and the lighting is very low. It lights the 'white' part of the letters, so even in daylight, it helps you to see the letters clearly. The 'rechargeable' batteries are included and hold a charge for weeks at a time, and I leave this unit on continuously. It will power down automatically after about 10 seconds of non-use. It comes back immediately once you touch any part of the top panel. It comes with 2 different cables so you can charge it with your USB port, or use it 'hot-wired' to the computer without using a button. I use mine with the button in the USB port, so there are no wires. I plug it in about once a month to charge up the batteries. I can even access the BIOS (first boot screen) on my All-in-One desktop with this keyboard. It is found as soon as you boot up the computer. I love this keyboard, as you may have guessed, and would recommend it to anyone. It is worth the price if you are on your computer for a great deal of time.

I have owned this model keyboard for years. This is actually my second purchase. The first keyboard worked great for years. The only failure was the batteries stopped recharging. It ends up that they can be replaced with simple AA rechargeable batteries. They keyboard worked for a few years after that but then the shift key and "H" stopped working. Found they still make it, so replaced with a new one. I like the feel of the keyboard. I wish it had a little more travel but overall really good feel. The back lighting is good and turns on with proximity. The battery life is good. I use it for my work so I use it more than 8 hours a day, everyday. It can usually go a couple of weeks before needing a recharge. You can use it while it charges. It works great with my KVM. Ctrl-Ctrl 1 and 2 switches back and forth between computers just fine. The dongle plugs into the kvm usb port.

This is one of the BEST devices! 1) It has a range of at least 20-25 feet from the transmitter, which is a tiny little USB device that plugs into your computer. 2) Its intelligent in that it turns off the backlighting after a short period of time, and it senses when you get your hand near it (you dont have to hit a key to get it to light up) 3) the backlighting is GREAT for low light situations (I use it in nighclubs to run my computer graphics shows on a projector) 4) The built in battery goes forever on a charge (I still havent had to charge it up and I have been using this for several hours of continuous use). 5) This model didnt come with a mouse, however I purchased a Logitech wireless mouse, and the mouse works with the same transmitter. You need to download the software and install it b4 the mouse works, but that wasnt a big deal. The keyboard worked with Windows 7 out of the box without installing the software. I would DEFINITELY recommend this keyboard to others.. Johan

This is my second K800. Bought the first several years ago to use with my Laptop PC. Unfortunately, I was careless when storing it one day, and broke the mechanism for one of the keys, so the top of my 'F' key keeps popping off. Still usable though. Thus the second purchase. One of the few cordless keyboards with illuminated keys. Has unifying receiver, so can also pair a Logitech mouse and only consume 1 USB port. Recently got a smart TV, and can plug the dongle for this keyboard/mouse combo into the TV's USB port and use them for some TV functions; web browser and app navigation, for instance. Also use it with my Seam Link, and a Linux-based HTPC. Just move the dongle to the device I am current using, giving me a 10-foot interface my living room entertainment/gaming system. Included rechargeable battery holds charge for a long time. Key illumination has a proximity sensor that turns the lighting on when a hand approaches, then it turns off after a few seconds when hand is removed. This greatly extends battery life. Also has a handy indicator to show state of charge, along with special function keys. I definitely recommend to others and may buy yet another for a spare - no telling how long Logitech will keep making this handy cordless keyboard with illuminated keys.

Overall, this is a great keyboard. I'm a heavy user and the rechargeable batteries did not require a recharge until six weeks later after the first charge. That was much better than I expected. The lay out and feel wasn't much different than my other 10 year old Logitech keyboard that bit the dust. The only improvement I recommend is to extend the auto turnoff illumination time longer. It turns off after 3 seconds. That is annoying when working in low light. There is the option to turn on keys all the time but I prefer the auto turnoff to extend battery life. One thing to note is that my Logitech MX 700 mouse now has some minor compatibility issues that may be from wireless signal interference between the mouse and keyboard. So if you have an old Logitech wireless mouse you may need to upgrade the mouse as well.

    Just An Awesome Wireless Keyboard

Hello, The Logitech K800 is truly one of the best additions to my PC Peripheral Collection perhaps ever. Since switching from a Macbook Pro to an Asus K53e Notebook, I have been without an Illuminated Keyboard for my Notebook. As Backlighting is almost universally reserved for quite expensive Notebooks and Desktops, at 99 Dollars, the K800 is an excellent way to add this feature to both in a relatively cost effective manner.. Initial Setup could not have been easier on both by Desktop and Notebook with the necessary Drivers being easily and automatically installed after inserting the USB Input,, The K800 does come with a Disc of Drivers/Software for Computers where this is needed. However, I have not needed it with my Windows 7 PC's. In addition, Battery Life has been amazing. I have not needed to charge the Keyboard in around 2 Weeks which for a Fully Illuminated Keyboard is truly impressive, Note, you change the Illumination Level with the press of a button. I have used the Default Setting. I can only imagine how long it lasts if used darker. The Ergonomics are excellent as well. This truly might be the easiest to type on Keyboard I have ever used. Just a very comfortable Keyboard. I usually can easily find faults in products, but I would be disingenuous to do so here, While not inexpensive, the K800 is truly money well spent. Cheers, JJ

I purchased this keyboard because colleagues were claiming my previous keyboard was very loud during conference calls where I used a speakerphone. After reading a few reviews and banging on a few boards in the store, I settled on this keyboard. I had a Logitech before so the key layout and overall structure was familiar, and the switch didn’t impact my speed or feel while typing. The keyboard is definitely quieter than the previous keyboard, and the team stopped complaining about my noisy, heavy fingers. I like the backlighting and how it illuminates by touching the front of the keyboard even if you don’t depress a key. My only concern with this keyboard how soon it was indicating it needed a recharge. I charged it fully when I set it up, and I expected a charge to last much longer. The battery life indicator is prominently placed on the top right of the keyboard, so it does warn you when your juice is getting low. It is easy enough to charge while working, so it isn’t a huge pain unless you have a machine that is USB challenged and don’t have an open port to use. Overall the hardware does what it says it will do, and it is much quieter than the previous keyboard, so the purchase was a success.

I had actually found out about this particular keyboard in reading another computer-related article. When I went to my neighbor Best Buy to look at this item, I was initially dissuaded by the price as there were other keyboards with the illuminated/wireless features at a lesser price point. But oddly enough what really sold me was that there is a numbers pad on the right which I find more productive for the kind of work I need to do on my computer. I have had this keyboard for less than a month, but I have not been disappointed at all and am really pleased that I made the right choice. The keyboard is comfortable to use (Great Design!), the illumination is awesome...I have used it all kinds of light so far and it has adjusted as described in the manual - you can also increase and decrease the brightness to your personal level, and that level remains in the keyboard's memory until you either change it while in use or after you turn the keyboard off. The battery life has lived up to the product description as well -- the "batteries not needed" feature for recharging the keyboard was another great selling point. This product is a Logitech so I don't have any concerns about it being well-made...I have several of their products and have never been disappointed in their performance. I am extremely pleased with this purchase!

Nice keyboard for a single PC only (no KVM)

    Posted
    Mushupork

I have multiple PCs and I use a KVM switch to share the Keyboard, Monitor (Video) and Mouse. This keyboard will not work using my KVM, (Iogear GCS1644) which I have had for a couple years. I have used many other keyboards with this KVM, but this keyboard with the Logitech Unifying Receiver (dongle) will not work. I had the same issue with a recent wireless trackball mouse purchase (model M570) that uses the same sort of receiver. I was able to put the mouse dongle in an accessory USB port on the KVM and it works fine but since the K800 is a keyboard, it needs to be connected to the keyboard port on the KVM so the HotKey feature works. I am very disappointed because the K800 keyboard is very nice. The illumination was very good, the auto dimming was a cool feature and I liked the feel of the keyboard. I like Logitech keyboards but I will need to find a different one that is wireless and is illuminated. In the meantime I will fall back to my Logitech S510 that is wireless but does not use this crazy Unifying Receiver technology, but also is not illuminated. I returned the K800 before I had time to confirm its battery life. It should be noted that the Unifying Receiver is paired at a hardware level with the device it ships with and then via software pairing you can "unify" by pairing other compatible devices to a single dongle. The software pairing requires installing the Logitech software on your PC.

    Great keyboard from Logitech.

Over the past several years, I have owned many Logitech products. From a computing standpoint, I only purchase Logitech because I have had such good results. From keyboards, to mice, to web cams and other items, I go out of my way to purchase Logitech. My first illuminated keyboard was the USB wired Logitech keyboard which I loved. As soon as the wireless model came out, I jumped all over it. The battery capacity is great, the illumination is right where I would expect, and the feel of the keyboard is spot on to what I wanted. If I were to find a flaw, it would be the motion sensor for the keyboard. It dims when your hands are not near the keys, so when you move to the keyboard, it illuminates. Personally, I prefer the keyboard to have a light sensor that would turn on when the ambient light reached a certain threshold. Not a big deal at all.....just trying to find a flaw. I recommend this wireless keyboard 100%. PS - If you want to buy the USB wired version, I will sell mine for cheap. :-)

I got this keyboard because I do a lot of programming and it tends to keep me up late into the night. The keyboard on my laptop wasn't backlit and in a dim light it could get irritating trying to find a key when it's late and I'm worn out. I figured that I wouldn't have much need for a backlit keyboard but at the last minute decided to try it out. I'm glad I did. The keys are backlit as well as the area around a key. If you're like me and work in areas that tend to be darker, it can really come in handy. The keyboard feels great and was very easy to use. Once the dongle was plugged in, I was up and running. I also don't have to charge it nearly as often as I would have thought. I believe the specs stated it would last about 5 days before needing to be charged again. Even using it for 3-4 hours a day, I maybe charge it once every 3-4 weeks. And the battery isn't even close to dead when I do decide to pop it on the charger. That was one of my biggest concerns with going for a backlit wireless keyboard but I'm glad to say that it isn't a problem at all with this keyboard. Overall, I wouldn't change a thing about it and I'm glad I got it. Well worth the money in my opinion.

I use this keyboard for general PC use and light gaming. It works great. I know the keys are membrane but they have a nice tactile feel and are very quiet, which is important to me. This is actually my second K800. I got the first in late 2010 and in mid 2018 some of the keys stopped working. After considering several other keyboards, including mechanical, I decided to get another K800. One minor gripe is the "pulsing" of the backlight. I'm sure the brightness is controlled by varying the duty cycle of the LEDs, but the base frequency is far too low IMHO. As I scan my eyes across the keyboard I see an "alphabet soup" of letters as each pulse of light registers the letters in a different spot on my retina. This effect was much less pronounced on my old K800. Maybe my eyes are just extra sensitive to this, you might not even notice it. My workaround is to set the brightness to maximum, but that is pretty bright in a darkened room. Oh, yes. After 8 years the letters on the keyboard of my original K800 still look great.

So, the keyboard is awesome...solid, great feel, good looking, etc... One huge problem is they designed the unit to put the keyboard in Sleep Mode after a minute or so of non-use. When you hit a key, it turns back on but you will soon find out that it will slow you down because the very first key you type will not show and you have to go back and edit. I've been trying to deal with this issue because I love the keyboard otherwise but I don't think I can live with this. I have been on the Forums at their site and they clearly stated there is no way to Update the software in the keyboard to change/turn off the sleep mode. Lots of others in the Forums were also very unhappy too so I think they are updating the product for future manufacturing shipments...maybe by the time you read this, the keyboard will be updated and be fantastic...but then again, maybe not. I am currently trying to get mine replaced with one that has been updated as some in the Forums have done this successfully with the manufacturer. (fingers crossed) Read for yourself here: https://support.logitech.com/en_us/search#q=sleep%20mode%20k780&t=Community&scope=c ood luck :)

I don't know how I got along without this keyboard. In low light settings and at night, you can't go without it. I remember staying up late many nights working on homework or writing papers, straining to see the keyboard with the glow of the computer monitor. Not any more. This keyboard provides nice, illuminated keys for ease of use at all times and in all lighting situations. I like how the keyboard is dark until your hand approaches and touches the bottom panel underneath the space bar (or any key) and the keyboard gently lights up and remains lit until you stop typing and your hand breaks contact. I am surprised how long the battery lasts. I would estimate around 5 months (just a guess) and I notice the little battery indicator lights getting down to 1/3 and I just attach the USB charging cable and it's juiced up again after a couple hours for another half year of use. I can't think of anything I don't like about the keyboard. I like the way it feels and types, I like the illumination, the shortcut keys at the top, the battery life, and everything else. Highly recommend. I'm a big fan of Logitech and will continue buying its products for many years.
