I'll echo the sentiment made in a previous review. I have no idea why I waited so long to get this keyboard. I don't game anymore so my take is solely from a typing perspective. Now I'm a product of the late '70's and early '80's so I am very familiar with those mechanical tanks we used to type on. Now, the typing experience with this K840 is not exactly the same but it is definitely paying homage to those old beasts in an updated way. The keys feel authoritative and precise. The mechanical action is not overly firm and the travel is perfectly measured. Anyway, I highly recommend it. An absolute joy to use.

At first, I was skeptical, but after trying it, it's been an awesome experience. It's durable, so it handles my strong taps fine, yet the keys are pronounced and easily accessed, so I can fluidly type of I want. Best place to start for heavy typers and/or gamers!

You can feel the sturdy quality in both tactile and operational perceptions. It does take some getting used to the height of the key positions. Because they seemingly extend above the keyboard they tended to feel awkward at first, compared to a standard keyboard.

I literally just bought this keyboard. I went into BestBuy looking for a keyboard and once I saw this one and looked up all of the positive reviews, I thought it was the one. I want a mechanical keyboard because I program and I like the response my fingers get from the keys and the clicking. I will say this one is not too noisy but the space bar makes a different click than the other keys... it's more tin sounding or metal sounding. It's like it's not sitting right. It even looks like it's sitting differently that the other keys, slightly. I took it off and put it back on thinking that would help but it didn't. Its unfortunate because I like Logitech products and I was happy that they came out with a mechanical keyboard. My son has another brand mechanical keyboard that I got him for gaming that is way more sturdy and feels more expensive but it was less than this one. I do like the black color of this one. I wanted one like this without all the lights and other colors. Anyway, I will most likely be taking this one back. Maybe I will exchange it for another of the same one to see if the space bar problem is a fluke with this particular one that I bought. If it is a fluke and the other one is better, I will update my review. Everyone is reviewing that this is a good keyboard for the price, but for my price I think all of the keys should sound and feel the same.

I purchased this keyboard for around $65 and it is absolutely fantastic for the price. I have a Logitech G810 at home I use for gaming and I use this K840 for work. I actually enjoy typing on the K840 more than the G810 due to how the keys are designed to sit on top of the chassis instead of inside the frame as on the G810. If you can get this for around $70, it is the keyboard to beat. I personally love Romer-G switches and even prefer them over Cherry switches now. I used to be Cherry MX Brown all the way until I started using Romer-G switches. I will probably never use another keyboard than Logitech's Romer-G keyboards. The K840 is a steal for the price. I absolutely recommend this keyboard. It is also quieter than Cherry MX switches as well as having shorter actuation distance. This makes typing quicker and quieter than any other Cherry switch, even the Cherry MX Silent.

I was shopping around for a new keyboard after my old one quit on me, (my own fault, spilled some coffee on it. RIP Keyboard) and I wanted to try out a mechanical keyboard. WIth most "Gamer" keyboards costing upwards of $100, this seemed very affordable, and the build quality is definitely sturdy. It doesn't come with macro recording or any fancy features Razer might include, but it does a very good job and I think I'm sold on mechanical keyboards in general. So long, membrane!

First off I own the Logitech G512 gaming keyboard which is basically the same thing but with flashy rgb lights and blue switches. I wanted something for work that felt comfortable to type on and was mechanical and figured using the same keyboard layout I have at home would be ideal. The Romer G switches are great. I much prefer them to the blue switches on my G512 gaming keyboard. Great tactile feel, not loud and very responsive. Think cherry brown switches but quieter. It is comfortable to type on and also durable due to the aluminum body. I read a review that over time this keyboard began to bow in the middle due to heavy typing but this keyboard is used 24 hours a day, shared at work between 4 people working 12 hour rotating shifts and I have yet to notice any lack of quality in the few months we have used it. It is smaller than most keyboards so the additional desk space you get is a plus and you can still utilize the function keys if needed. Also this can be a great gaming keyboard alternative if you aren't into rgb lights and are looking for a plain mechanical keyboard. If you can get this on sale this is a great keyboard for a great price. I picked this up for $60 on sale at best buy, original price $80. At $80 I'm sure there are other keyboards to consider which offer a similar typing experience but what you'll miss out on are the Romer G switches, these switches are fantastic and I really enjoy typing on them. Overall this is a great keyboard and I highly recommend giving this keyboard a try if you are looking for something mechanical that isn't marketed as a gaming keyboard.

This is not a keyboard you put in your lap. It is a heavy, rugged, long stroke keyboard with a mechanical key action similar to the good old IBM Selectrix Professional Ball Typewriter (I know, I am showing my age). If you truly are a touch typist, who can type accurately fast, and want a key board you can just rest your fingers on and go - this is the keyboard for you! This keyboard is a work horse. Just plug the cable into a USB port on your Windows computer and go. There is no software to install. Works great with my Dell desktop and laptop computers.

I pretty much only get Logitech peripherals. My wife prefers a stiff touch on the keyboard. These have high elevated keys, good touch. Priced well. Not too big.

I got tired of the mushy keys on my old keyboard. This one has a great feel with a just audible tap sound. It is a vast improvement over the type of cheap keyboard bundled with a new PC. Note this one has a USB cable, it is not wireless. Some may complain about the absence of a NumLock light. However, my Windows screen tells me when I press NumLock, so this is not a problem. One should rarely need to press the NumLock key, since the secondary functions are duplicated to the left of the numeric keypad. The keyboard has a sturdy aluminum build, and appears to be good quality. The appearance in use is better than expected.

I type thousands of words a day and like a good tactile keyboard and this one does the job. The keys have a nice spring to them and I don't notice an annoying noise from the space bar that other people mentioned. This would be a 5 star keyboard if it weren't for the fact the first keyboard I ordered was defective. The keyboard would type "sssss" over and over unprompted. I had to take it in and exchange it for a new one. The new one works great but for a $70 keyboard I would expect perfection from the go.

This keyboard offers an extremely comfortable typing experience, and upon setting up I immediately noticed I could fire out far more words per minute than I could before. It also has quality construction too, with the keys sitting atop an aluminum plate. It has improved my work from home product without a doubt, no more crumby chicklet keys to slow me down!

I've owned WASD, Ducky, Razr BlackWidow. Honestly, I paid 100s for those keyboards. Got this keyboard for < $100 ($60 to be exact) and for that price you can't beat this. The keys very similar to a Cherry MX Blue but slightly softer. They have a "mushy" feeling that I've grown to love after working on a "clicky" WASD for a couple years. It's sound is very pleasing.

This is my first mechanical keyboard. MY brother has one thats super loud, which is why I hestitated to try a mechanical keyboard. I use the K840 in my office (IT work). I really enjoy using this. I was kind of unsure how I'd like them. Because 1) I used low profile chiclet style keyboards, 2) K840 has old style keyboard look that you used to get when you purchased desktops, 3) worried they'd be loud for office setting. I'm glad these are fantastic. Typing is fun. I don't mind the traditional keyboard look. Aluminum body is nice. And its not that loud, its kind of nice to hear typing, but not clickity. I like using Logitech Options to setup some quick shortcuts, such as Chrome, Email, and I used Putty. My negative is that it has tinny sound. Tinny as is in tin. It might be because of the metal parts inside. Overall, very happy and not missing my logitech, dell, chiclet wireless keyboards.

Truthfully didn't have high expectations for this keyboard, as I've been very disappointed in my more recent Logitech hardware purchases, but I wanted a full mechanical keyboard and not some cheaply-built membrane keyboard that my very old-style, heavy-handed typing style would destroy in a couple of months. I am absolutely impressed with how smooth and well made the mechanical switches in the keys actually are. They contribute to this not only being a fluid and smooth mechanical keyboard, but an astonishingly quiet one considering the price. The only others I've found that are this pleasant to use have been significantly higher in price, and often feature all kinds of "bells and whistles" like LED light effects and "programmable" this and that meant to appeal to people far more impressed by smoke and mirrors than actual, reliable performance. Pleased to say this one stands up quite well to both my professional abilities of sustained typing at 120wpm, and my recreational use when I choose to indulge in playing video games that require accurate keyboard control.

At first I wasn't in love with this keyboard but honestly when you compare the price of other keyboards it's an amazing find. I got mine for $60 and while it doesn't have the sharp tactile click I was expecting it has its own kind of interesting key feel. I got used to it after a while and now I can't wait to type my essays on it.

I purchased this keyboard because I wanted a keyboard with concave key tops to help keep my fingers in the right position while touch typing and I wanted a keyboard whose keys went down far enough when pressed to let me know that I have in fact pressed them. This keyboard provides both of these features. One problem I am having with it is that I occasionally accidentally press the <Enter> key while trying to press the pipe/backslash key, possibly because of the distance down that the keys press. The other problem is that it makes a fair amount of noise to type on this keyboard. A nice feature of this keyboard is that it has a <fn> key that when pressed with the F1 - F4 keys can activate a function of your choice such as putting the computer to sleep. It can also be pressed with F5 - F12 to do fixed things such as controlling your music.

Very professional keyboard built to last. Wouldn’t recommend for gaming but great for at home or in a work environment

I have multiple Cherry keyboards at home and was tired of typing on a rubber dome at work. I wanted an affordable, professional mechanical keyboard. I hadn't liked the Romer switches in the past but these have nice feel to them. Spacebar balancing spring is a little odd but for like $40 you can't go wrong.
