I read that the batteries die quickly. However, I always forget to turn it off, and I have yet to replace the batteries.

I don't need anything more than it offers and I don't want to pay for features I don't need. BTW, the USB is INSIDE the compartment where you install a battery. Looking at the product right out of the the package, I thought I was going to have to return the one I bought. This was a replacement for the exact same mouse which lasted over 5 years. Again, this is a very good value.
