    Old Technology. Coarse scroll wheel

I bought this Logitech M510 mouse and I don't like it so much. The store salesman said that he's had this same model for many years at his home and I think it is old technology. It uses two batteries whereas most modern mice use one. It has a coarse, rough scroll wheel whereas new mice have finer turning scroll wheels or wheels limited by friction. I wanted a traditional scroll wheel with detents in the wheel. A friend of mine bought a mouse with a smooth scroll wheel that is supposed to be held in position with friction when you leave it. I do not know what brand of mouse my friend had. But he demonstrated it to me: if he just brushed the mouse scroll wheel, the image on the monitor would move. Most modern Logitech mice now have a friction-control wheel and I had bad thoughts about just brushing the scroll wheel and having whatever I was viewing on the computer screen shift, so I wanted a traditional scroll wheel with detents. This Logitech M510 was like that. But now that I have it, I don't like how coarse the scroll heel moves. If I did not know any better (it is new) I would say that there is dirt in the wheel and that is why it is so rough to scroll. The last mouse I had, which had detents, was five years old and it had a much smoother scroll wheel than this Logitech M510. The Logitech M510 is designed to be "ergonomic." It has cushioned panels on the sides and a concave surface where your thumb is to rest. The problem is that to use this mouse they way it is designed, you have to hold it deep in the palm of your hand. That's when your thumb fits into the concave detail on the side. That's also where your thumb (if you are right handed) can manipulate the two auxiliary buttons. I have longer-than-average male fingers so when I hold the mouse that way (holding the mouse mostly in the palm of my hand) my fingertips are out beyond the left and right click buttons. I have to click the two main buttons with my entire finger, not just my fingertips as I am accustomed to. In the past I have held mice with my fingers only and my palm is way back behind the mouse. That worked for me. But that is not the best way to hold this Logitech M510 mouse. So the ergonomic "features" of this mouse actually make it more difficult and awkward for me to use. (But they may be just fine for you, given your style.) To get the auxiliary two buttons to work, you have to download this Logitech software called SetPopint from their website. That software is easy to download and to program the auxiliary two buttons. But it creates a folder called logishrd and puts it into your My Documents folder. So among your user folders of documents, is this stupid Logitech mouse folder. If you move it or delete, it comes back when you reboot your computer. That is really annoying. At least the communication with the plug-in receiver works well.

Left Button Quit Working After Owning It 17 Days

I have had the M510 Mouse for 18 days and the left side button decided to quit working out of the blue after 17 days. I downloaded the software for the mouse in an attempt to fix it which didn't work. I also left the batteries out of my mouse for 24 hours and then placed them back in to see if that would fix things and it didn't. Then I tried a couple suggestions that were posted on the Logitech forums which were to clean the laser lens with a dry cotton swab. If this didn't work it was suggested to try taking the batteries out, then to hold down the left mouse button while clicking the right mouse button 5 times to reinitialize the mouse. None of the solutions I've mentioned worked for me. I also changed the batteries just to be sure so that wasn't the issue either. My previous mouse was a Logitech and I had it for 4 years without issue before the receiver broke. I take part of the blame for not reading more of the reviews here and elsewhere before purchasing this mouse. I should know better then to purchase something just because of who it's made by.

Laggy Mouse. Extremely poor Customer Service

Lots of lag with this mouse. Called Logitech an they confirmed a bad mouse and noted to them that the firmware was different than my mk800 keyboard (which is awesome btw) and which they said should bot matter. So they set up an RMA and I have been waiting for about a month and a week now for my replacement. Haven't heard a word from them (ref #01634251 in case logitech combs these forums) I went on Amazon and bought a brand I hadn't ever heard of before called TechNet. Purchased a pro and a classic 9 bucks and 10 bucks respectively, and to my surprise they surpassed my expectations. No lag, instant recognition unlike the logitech. Super happy with them. I am just going to write off the logitech mouse for now as a loss, as I do not expect to hear back from them even though I have tried to reach back out as early as 3-18-2016 with no response. Logitexh may make some great keyboards, but their mice as well as Customer Service needs some serious looking into.

Scroll wheel doesn't work very well

I bought this mouse because of the great reviews here. One major problem I've seen is with the scroll wheel. Each click should scroll the page a certain amount. For some reason, the mouse seems to have trouble registering the movement of the wheel. I could scroll the mouse for 5 clicks and it might pick up 2 of them. It's not consistent at all. I googled reviews for this and saw that other people reported the same problem. I've had good luck with Logitech mice before but this one doesn't meet the quality that I'm used to. I'll probably be returning it.

This mouse skips and hesitates practically every time I move it; very rarely do I move it and get a smooth and predictable response. It does the same thing on literally any surface, I even bought a new mouse pad as a final resort, but the performance was the same. It is prohibitively frustrating to use. I give it one star only because there is no option to give it no star. I bought it to replace an identical Logitech M510 mouse that did precisely the same thing. I presumed the first one was defective, but it appears as though skipping and hesitating is just the nature of this mouse

This is the second one of these mice that I have had in the past few months. I keep experiencing problems with it. It skips around on me, fails to work when I click the left mouse button. It starts out working great for the first few weeks, but then it just goes downhill from there. New batteries, removing interfering devices from between the receiver and the mouse, uninstalling and reinstalling, and trying new mouse pads have all failed to yield positive results. I would not recommend this mouse to anyone unless they like to incorporate mouse slamming violence into their daily routine.

Worked fine for 6 months, and then stopped working

I bought this product back in August 2018. The warranty period is 3 years but it stopped working in 6 months. I'm in the process of claiming the warranty but it has been extremely inconvenient for the past 2-3 weeks. BestBuy asked me to contact to the manufacturer but the Logitech support helpline is always busy. I had to write an email to them explaining my situation. I haven't received any response yet.

Worked okay for a while, now whenever there is a restart the programmable functions stop working and the "mouse and keyboard" tab is missing on the Logitech Setpoint pop up window. In order to get it back I have to reinstall the software, reconfigure the mouse settings and then the next time I do a restart of the computer the same problem occurs and I have to do it all over again. Looked online and apparently this is a common problem for many, many users. Am running Windows10. A waste of money and time.

The mouse came in the mail pretty quick. However, after I have used it, I noticed that it did not track well at all. I used a mouse pad but it still didn't work well. I went to BestBuy store to exchange for a second one, but it still didn't work well. The second time I went to BestBuy to return it, they said that they couldn't process my request, and therefore I couldn't even get my money back. Terrible experience

    Nice mouse just doesn't last

I bought this mouse a few weeks ago and installed it a day or so later. With in about a week I started having difficulty having to travel very long distances on my mouse pad just to get the mouse to move. I tried adjusting the sencitivity, changed the batteries, a new mouse pad. Nothing helped. Now no matter how far I move the mouse on or off the mouse pad there is no movement on the screen. The buttons still work but nothing else. I have had other mice last for years. This one lasted less than a month.

Great mouse at first, works very well, comfortable. After a week or two of use it starts to bug out, as if turning on and off very quickly, causing the pointer to move half an inch at a time across the screen, or simply not at all. The left mouse button stops working now and then. I've had two of these so I know I didn't just get a faulty mouse. They both had the same problems. Buy this mouse if you're into frustration.

Mouse did not last six months before the signal was erratic even with new batteries. The first mouse did not have a warranty, so I replaced it with the same one. Second mouse same problem. The third mouse I got a Microsoft wireless. This one feels better and built better.

I bought this mouse in the store because it fit my hand the best, but when I actually used it, I found the scroll wheels was imprecise. The only word I can think of to describe it is "sloppy." Unfortunately, Best Buy's return policy is not friendly to customers who don't live close to a store. I missed the short return window and now I'm stuck with this poor product.

I bought this in conjunction with a logitech keyboard so that I would only use one USB port. The mouse doesn't work half the time and I have to shake it and wiggle it to get any response whatsoever. I have always used a wireless mouse and never had a problem like this. I should have taken it back on day one, but kept trying to work with it. Useless.

returned the first one of these because it worked intermittantly for a few days and then permanently froze. Got another one and it had the same behavior. Perhaps these were both from the same batch! Reluctant to try another Logitech product. FWIW used in on a mini Mac.

My desktop sits by my left leg. I'm right handed. This distance was too far for the wireless range of the mouse: straight out of the box the thing was choppy and unusable. I then experimented and move my desktop to my right leg and viola, a working mouse. Ended up having to buy a usb extender to make it work. In retrospect, should have just bought a better mouse.

The mouse quit working after 2 weeks. Tried the fixes provided on the Logitech web site and they didn't work. Tried contacting Logitech and they were slow responding so I returned it and got a Microsoft mouse. This was a real disappointment because I've had many Logitech mice and they were great. With this experience I've become skeptical of Logitech mice.

I purchased the mouse for a new laptop within 30 days it quit working. Took back to Best Buy was informed that because it was older than 14 days I needed to go through the manufacturer for replacement. Next purchase will be online through manufacturer as Best Buy brought no value to this experience.

It stays on a few seconds and turns off. Then look closely and the batteries are rattling because they are loose! Obviously the compartment is too big for the Duracell AA batteries included! How could this be? Could company ship this?

After using M525, this one (M510) is very inconvenient to use. Wheel has clicking and not smooth scrolling effect. Side buttons impossible to press without moving mouse. Precision is not exact. Hand just cannot relax. Should've got M525 instead to replace my old one.
