    Hated this mouse

My Microsoft Intellimouse 3.0 finally stopped working, and I decided to buy this mouse because of the hyper scrolling feature and three year battery life. I ended up hating everything else about it. After two hours of use, my hand was starting to cramp up from using it. I learned in those two hours that the laser sensor did not compare at all with the optical sensor I was accustomed to using. In addition, I learned that the sensor was set all the way to the left of the mouse making it extremely difficult to control precisely after always having used a mouse with a centered sensor. The acceleration also felt extremely odd. The wheel on the mouse, as much as I liked how the low friction scrolling felt, was horribly inaccurate. Setting the wheel into its click spin mode, it would scroll through pages SLOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWLLLLLYYYYY at 1 line per click. I tried to changing it to 2 and 3 lines per click, but then there was just not enough precision for me. After those issues, I downloaded and installed the SetPoint program from Logitech to see if it would allow me to fix any of the issues and to try out the side buttons. First of all, DO NOT USE THE ZOOM FEATURE ON THE DESKTOP! It made all my icons bigger really quickly because I had the hyper scroll on, and my desktop ended up a big mess. Other than that, the options for the programmable buttons seemed okay. There were some options for changing the sensor and wheel sensitivity, but neither really fixed any of the issues I was having. I was just given different kind of issues with the scrolling becoming faster, but I would have to move up or down two or three times before a page I was looking at online would actually start to move. The sensor on the other hand would just not feel right no matter what acceleration (none, low, mid, or high) and sensitivity I would choose. I'm returning this mouse and looking for a larger one with a centered optical sensor.

    Absolute JUNK

Frustrating POJ...Ripping open the sealed plastic package is the only thing that works with this product, because of the pre-cut opening. That doesn't matter, because the product doesn't work: Popped the included batteries into the mouse (correctly), and inserted it's USB dongle into a USB slot. Windows reports it didn't install correctly and the device may not work properly. No kidding, because - in addition - no light emanates from the "high performance laser" (that's what's printed on it, no kidding!) I then tried three other slots with the same abysmal install results. After turning the mouse on/off switch on, to see if - at least - the laser in the mouse made light, I was right about that suspicion too. Dead donkey. I measured the batteries voltage which was fine, and even tried other, new batteries without any improvement. I returned this POJ, and went back to open another one in the store, going through all the same steps (except the USB dongle). That laser was dead too! The entire box of mouses don't work. No wonder this is on sale. In fact, Costco and Logitech should PAY ME for my time and gas wasted on this stupid product trying to get one to work. Using a ten year old mechanical mouse for now, made when products weren't complete fails, until I can order a simple, $2 wired, optical mouse. DON"T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS JUNK! This posting will end up on my ten global consumer websites in four languages (read by about 310,000,000 readers) as a prominent Southern California Consumer Advocate.

    Unusable

This mouse scrolls on its own, making it impossible to use for any type of editing. The screen view jumps up and down, and zooms in an out on its own because the mouse is spuriously sending the message to move. The underlying root is that the scroll wheel has too much momentum and is very difficult to stop from rolling. It rolls on its own even by the motion of moving the mouse in other ways. In order to make it through the week with it I've had to spend way too much time and effort to slow the wheel before making my next move with the mouse. It takes forever to make sure it's in the right position before I can click and do what I need to do with the mouse. I need a mouse with a wheel so there's no point in just disabling the wheel. I've given it a week and have had enough. I plan to give it away and get something else.

    Terrible Tracking

When the Logitech mouse I bought in 2007 began to fail me I turned to m705 because it was the exact same chassis as the mouse I have used for years. Well the ergonomics were about the same but that was about it, the tracking on this mouse was terrible. I first noticed the sluggish response moving the cursor upon first use. I figured it was something with the drivers. I tried boosting the pointer speed to max both in windows and in Logitech's software, even tried a suggestion to move the blutooth dongle away from other USB devices, nothing worked. Now, because I threw away the packaging like a dimwit, I'm stuck with a mouse that moves the cursor slower then cold molasses.

Updated model - Missing a button

    Posted
    MouseBuyer

Just purchased this as a replacement to an older M705 mouse. I loved the old one that had 3 programmable buttons by the thumb, but this new one is missing one of the thumb buttons. The missing button happened to be the one i used the most. This update should have used a new model number to indicate that it is not the same as the older M705 mice.

I really wanted to like this mouse. Unfortunately, it just drops responsiveness ever so often. I do a lot of editing of music and video and the mouse is just too slow at times. I stayed away from a wireless mouse for a long time and was hoping that the tech had improved enough, cause I really wanted a clean desktop with no wires. Unfortunately, the tech is still not there. Color me disappointed!

The Logitech - Marathon Mouse M705 Wireless Laser Mouse is one of the most poorly designed mice on the market. EVERY computer mouse in existence has had the sensor it uses in the center of the product, but not this one. This one has it's laser on the very edge on the right side. Unless you plan on moving your entire arm when using this mouse then it is pretty worthless.

    Deteriorating Quality

Logitech used to be the mouse of choice, Owned at least 10. Last two indicate that quality has deteriorated significantly! First one failed in one year (left and right mouse don't click every time). Then bought this one, which came out defective right out of the box (wheel unbalanced and scrolls back). Would try Microsoft in the future.

This mouse was okay for my old windows laptop. My current laptop (Macbook Pro) only has USB-C ports so I've moved away from mice that require dongles. Biggest problem was the durability of the button springs with this mouse. Buy something else.

2nd time I have purchased this mouse. Both times I regretted it. The mouse moves on its own. If I scroll to the bottom of the page it will scroll up same if I scroll up it will scroll down. Useless!. And yes i updated the drivers but any other mouse i have purchased i did not have this issue out of the box. And I am normally a fan of logitech

Bought the mouse because I have another Logitech mouse. I like the feel, but the scroll wheel just spins. I tried to return it but I was not allowed to. I started to read other reviews after I tried to return and found that the "free-wheeling" was a common problem with them.

Not sure how well this product works, although I have used this brand in the past, and was very happy with it. Upon opening the SEALED package, the small thumb drive was missing. Never thought to check it out in the store before purchasing, and now it is too late to return. Otherwise, I would recommend this brand.

Bought this because I wasn't going to use it all that much and wanted a wireless mouse that wasn't too expensive. Fired it up and there was a half a second delay between the moving the mouse on the pad and the mouse moving on the screen. Tried it on both the desktop and the laptop - same issue on both.

The middle button is the worst. If you do a lot of autocad or any other graphic software where you tend to use the mouse alot, this is not the mouse for u. The middle button is annoying to click and scroll. Look for a cheaper mouse without the extra functions that are useless

This is the first time that i have received an "used item" instead of a new one. Adding to that, the USB dongle was missing to connect the mouse to laptop. This is purely an utter disappointment and will be returning the item immediately. Sad

The right mouse button does not seem to work most of the time. When I press the right button the functions for the right button come up. Looked online and this seems to be a common problem.
