Versitile, but a tad bulky for travel

Got this for use with a Microsoft Surface Go for travel, and it's leaps and bounds better than the MS70 trackball. The bottom steel plate allows the trackball to sit flat on the table or tilted 20 degrees; there's a very strong magnet that holds it into position. it's very comfortable.
The steel plate does make it a tad heavy for travel, but you can leave that at home if you don't want to carry the weight. The trackball is about the width of the Surface Go keyboard, so the trackball is a tad bulky.
Battery is rechargeable and will last for about 4 months on a charge according to Logitech. but you must plug it in to USB2 or USB 3 to charge.
The buttons are reconfigurable once you figure out where to go to download the software to reprogram them. There are NO instructions in the packaging save for a little sticker on the base of the steel plate that points you to logitech.com/options where you can download the software. Once you do, you can reconfigure the buttons from the default and set them to your preference.
But the default settings are very handy, there's a button just above the trackball to set the 'precision' so if, say, you're doing a powerpoint presentation and want to go to finer control you can hit that button and get more precise control of the cursor. You can toggle it again to let you use one or two swipes of the trackball to cross the entire screen. The buttons to the left of the left mouse button default to forward/back on your browser, but you can change those if desired for a hundred different things, from volume up/down, zoom in/out, or anything in between.
The main left/right buttons and scroll wheel (center button) can be reconfigured as well.
You can set up the software to let you know when the trackball battery is getting low and you have to charge it.
And, you can use the trackball for up to two different computers, either using the bluetooth or the USB2 dongle that comes with it.
There's no slot to store the USB2 dongle like there is on the MS70, so don't lose the dongle if you're not using it.

Ergonomic & Customizable for Comfort & Precision

Ergo: As evidenced by the name, MX ‘Ergo’ Plus, this trackball is designed to be more ergonomic than regular mouse devices. In fact, Logitech claims it’ll deliver 20% less muscle strain & reduced wrist pronation vs. a std. mouse.
Setup: Out-of-the-box setup was practically plug-&-play-level-easy w/my HP All-in-1 PC & Win10 OS, though this new trackball is equally compatible w/Macs. My mouse arrived w/plenty of charge to get started immediately.
Wireless Connectivity: Logitech’s unifying receiver—a tiny dongle USB key—is, as usual, very reliable & quickly pairs w/the mouse. You can connect via Bluetooth, but I prefer the 2.4GHz unifying receiver, which offers a 32-foot range & allows me to also connect my Logitech K750 wireless solar keyboard + up to 4 other wireless devices.
Trackball vs. Std. Mouse: As far as input devices go, we’ve been a mostly Logitech shop for many yrs. now, for both keyboards & mice. So, I’ve been looking forward to testing Logitech’s new trackball option, as it’s been a few yrs. since I’ve used Logitech’s last trackball mouse—the M570—which was released back in 2010. Though the trackball is clearly a viable alternative to the std. mouse & touchpad, it’s not for everyone, as evidenced by the fact that the overwhelming majority of pointing devices sold are std. mice, not trackballs.
While this new trackball provides a very good user interface, a word of caution to std. mouse users is in order. It takes a little time, in terms of developing your hand-eye coordination, to retrain your brain so that you can smoothly operate a stationary trackball mouse. When you’re used to moving the entire mouse vs. rolling just your thumb on a trackball, it’s an ADJUSTMENT. Once mastered, however, I find this trackball to be very smooth, sturdy, & easy to navigate. The stability is achieved because the trackball mouse sits in a stationary magnetic metal plate w/a non-slip bottom. This platform provides a clean, minimalist look on your work surface, as you’ll no longer need the clutter of a mouse pad.
Features: Buttons: You get advanced optical tracking w/a scroll wheel & 8 buttons, 6 of which are programmable, for customization, or you can choose default settings if you prefer. All the buttons are well-placed & have a pleasing, tactile response w/good haptic feedback.
Precision Mode: The precision mode button next to the trackball allows you to shift from speed to accuracy—dramatically slowing the tracking speed so that you can execute sensitive, micro-movements for pixel-precise, ultra-accurate cursor pointing. This is useful for photo editing, graphic design, & other tasks.
Scroll Wheel: The precision tilt scroll wheel allows 4-way scrolling—up/back (vertical) & left/right (horizontal), though I do wish the scroll wheel were designed the way Logitech’s ratcheting scroll wheel operated on the MX Master S2. The quick access to shortcuts & the middle click in the scroll wheel are nice conveniences.
Logitech Options Software w/Flow Technology: I like that the mouse can be used w/2 different computers via the Easy-Switch button on top, allowing you to switch seamlessly between devices w/o having to re-pair. Logitech’s new Options software (replacing the old SetPoint software), w/multi-computer FLOW technology, boosts cross-computer capability by allowing you to control & navigate content between computers, incl.: copying & pasting text, images, documents, & files—allowing data transfer w/o relying on cloud services or having to send yourself emails w/attachments. (Options software must be installed on both computers.) The free downloadable software also allows for app-specific settings, button & key customization, & notification & status.
Ergonomics: The mouse comes w/an adjustable, integrated magnetic hinge, or wedge, that you snap onto the bottom of the mouse which allows you to choose the best trackball angle for personalized hand & wrist comfort. (Choose 0°/flat or 20°, or even 30° w/the additional 10° plastic wedge that comes w/the ‘Plus’ model offered thru Best Buy.) The bottom of the hinge has a non-slip surface to keep the trackball in place. Regardless of position, the large, wide base of the mouse felt comfortable under my hand. While I preferred the 30° angle, my wife preferred the 20° angle for her smaller hand, in what she termed a ‘more natural hand position’, as she used the trackball for some extended digital video editing work. This is yet more evidence of the benefits of a customizable ergonomic mouse. In either case, we both liked the sculpted shape of the mouse which provides full palm & finger support, w/the soft rubber on top of the mouse offering a comfortable grip for extended work sessions. And the island keys offer a consistent, sturdy click feel that’s definite & sharp w/o being too crisp or staccato.
Charging: For yrs. I wondered why Logitech ceased offering a mouse recharging cradle like the one incl. w/my 2009 Logitech MX Revolution Performance Laser Mouse. But w/this new trackball mouse’s Li-Po (lithium polymer) battery, which Logitech claims can be recharged as infrequently as every 4 months, there’s really no need for the clutter of a battery recharge docking station on my desk, especially when the rarely required full recharge of the mouse now takes only a few minutes. Yes, the micro-USB recharging cord that connects to the front of the trackball mouse is cumbersome, but if it has to be broken out only once/qtr., where’s the rub? (And it sure beats the 1-week battery life I used to get between USB charges w/my previous Logitech MX Performance Darkfield Laser Cordless Rechargeable Mouse, purchased back in 2012 as a replacement for my worn-out Logitech MX1000 Laser Cordless Rechargeable Mouse.) I do wish, however, that Logitech had included USB-C technology, as they did w/their new Craft wireless keyboard. Logitech also claims that I’ll get up to a full day’s use from a 1-min. quick-charge w/this new trackball mouse, which provides a critical & welcome rescue if the mouse’s battery runs down at the worst possible moment, when I’m in the middle of 'crunch time' & pushing to finish a project or report w/a hard deadline.
Warranty/Durability: Logitech offers a limited 1-year warranty (not very inspiring or reassuring, but fairly std. for pointing devices which often take a lot of abuse). They also project that I should be able to get ~10 million clicks out of the left/right buttons; so, I expect that I’ll want to purchase a new mouse w/enhanced technology features well before this trackball mouse fails or wears out.
Bottom line: Overall, if you’re a trackball fan, you should be well pleased w/this mouse. But even after getting used to this trackball mouse, I still prefer a traditional mouse in a traditional work setting environment at my desk, even w/a trackball as well-engineered as this model. However, there are times when I’m using my laptop in other settings, incl. a limited-space environment on an airplane, or in a more relaxed, casual environment at home, when I’d prefer the benefits of a trackball mouse. In short, I’d like to be able to switch back-&-forth between a traditional mouse & a trackball mouse w/o having to change mice. Thus, I’d like to see Logitech develop & pioneer a hybrid, all-in-1 mouse that incorporates the benefits of both. Perhaps Logitech could do some market research on this concept & test to see if there’s a viable market, or at least a profitable niche, for such a hybrid mouse. With an increasingly mobile society that’s simultaneously migrating towards transportation modes that allow for increasingly productive commutes (think mass transit trains, Uber & Lyft ride-sharing, self-driving cars, etc.), many companies & workers would gladly pay more for a hybrid mouse w/superior flexibility vs. the status quo of frustrating touchpads & the age-old either/or, mutually exclusive, std.-vs.-trackball mouse dilemma.

Hi JYzhang, we're sorry to see you're having some connectivity issues with your MX ERGO Plus Wireless mouse. You do have a 1 year warranty that comes with the purchase of your mouse. This can be used to have a replacement sent out to you. You can do that here: https://support.logi.com/hc/en-us/articles/360024920514-Warranty-MX-ERGO. Hope that helps.

I have a PC hooked up to my main TV and a laptop that I keep nearby. I usually use a wireless mouse or the touchpad, which is a pain for placement on the couch. However, with this wireless trackball I am able to sit comfortably on my couch and switch between either of the devices without switching between mice. With one device using Bluetooth and the other using the included adapter I am able to switch between them with just a click of the button on top.
The ergo design and unique hinge base allows for it to be flat like a normal mouse or tilted 20 degrees to reduce strain. It also has an additional base that adds another 10 degrees to the angle to help even more relieve that carpal tunnel. The base has a nice grip to prevent sliding and is attached to the trackball magnetically. The ball itself is smooth, took me a minute to get used to as all I commonly use are mice. My fingers twitch too, so usually a trackball is hard for me to do any fine movement, however, they included a button for that as well, which switches to a fine tune. There are forward and back buttons as well and with the Logitech Options Software, you can program each of the buttons to your own liking. Though I have only had this for about a week, they claim the built in battery will last up to 4 months on a full charge, or all day with only a matter of a minute. Maybe in 4 months I can tell you how that has gone, but so far I haven’t plugged it back up since I received it, already saving me a set of AA batteries from my mouse.

This trackball is a WOW improvement over the M570!

Having gotten a new MacMini recently, I wanted to find a mouse solution to replace the 3+ year old M570 trackball that was acting a little janky with my Mac mini. It was like it was intermittently loosing connection with the usb unifying receiver. Besides, I wanted to free up the USB port it was using so I wanted a bluetooth mouse solution. I agonized and researched the heck out of this trackball vs the Apple Magic Mouse 2. I just couldn't decide. Finally, after finding a price match on Amazon that saved me 30% off the retail price (Thanks Best Buy!!!) and the fact that I just couldn't get behind the idea of having to use a mouse pad again, I decided to just take the leap and if this didn't suit me I would just order a Magic Mouse.
The enhanced usefulness of this trackball was immediately apparent! I have the side button set to easily do screen grabs, the top 2 sets of buttons to change volume up or down on my speakers. Last, I set the click wheel button to bring up the calculator. Just LOVE the programmable buttons on this thing, using the "Logitch Options" app!
If you are on the fence about whether to go with this or not I would very much suggest you try it out! Having it tilt is also a big improvement in comfort though it does take a little getting used to. The rubberized finish gives the trackball surface a nice premium feel and great grip.

You know how people always want to come home and post reviews on day one of ownership? This isn't that review.
I've had the MX ERGO for 2 months, and I absolutely love it. Trackpads on laptops are... a qualified okay. It's great not having to carry a separate device, but sometimes you need something quicker, more accurate, with just a couple more buttons and a scrolling wheel. This trackball is all of those things, and the Logitech software fills in all the gaps left by Windows' pointer controls.
If you're looking for some cons, the device is *large*. It fits really funny in my bag, so if you're using a briefcase instead of a soft bag, be sure to make space for the trackball in there. Also, if you're a mouse person rather than a trackball person, this is not the "try this out" trackball - it isn't an entry level pointing device at all.
Reinterpret those cons, though, and they're pros for me: I have freakishly large hands, so the bigger the device, the better. Also, my trackball history is extensive; I worked in publishing early on in my career, so trying to adjust to a standard mouse - even a really good standard mouse - has always felt alien to me.
Great device. Excellent rechargeable battery life. Excellent range of customization. The most comfortable device out there for large-handed folks. Easily all five stars.

I recently upgraded my computer peripherals, and one of the best decisions I made was to invest in the Logitech MX ERGO Plus Wireless Trackball Mouse. This exceptional device has completely transformed my computing experience, and I can't help but share my enthusiasm for it.
First and foremost, the ergonomic design of the MX ERGO Plus is a game-changer. The trackball positioning is the key to this, allowing my hand to rest comfortably while the mouse itself stays stationary. This design significantly reduces wrist strain and fatigue, making long hours of work or gaming sessions much more enjoyable. The adjustable hinge even lets you choose between a 0° and 20° angle for the trackball, ensuring a perfect fit for your hand and working environment.
The trackball itself is incredibly precise and responsive. With Logitech's advanced optical tracking technology, I experienced smooth and accurate cursor control, which is essential for tasks like graphic design and precise selection in documents or spreadsheets. The option to customize the trackball's sensitivity through Logitech's software is a nice touch, allowing you to fine-tune it to your specific needs.
Connectivity is seamless with the MX ERGO Plus. The wireless capability ensures a clutter-free workspace, and the mouse connects quickly and reliably via Bluetooth or the included USB receiver. I appreciate the ability to pair this mouse with multiple devices, which is especially convenient for those who use multiple computers or laptops regularly.
Another standout feature is the impressive battery life. I've been using the mouse for weeks without needing to recharge, and when I do, the USB charging port ensures a fast and convenient power-up.
Additional buttons and features, such as the customizable shortcut buttons and the precision mode button, enhance productivity and adaptability for various tasks. The smooth scrolling feature is also a great addition, especially when navigating through lengthy documents or web pages.
The build quality of the MX ERGO Plus is top-notch. It feels robust and well-constructed, reassuring me that it will withstand daily use for a long time. The graphite color adds a sleek and modern touch to my workspace.
In summary, the Logitech MX ERGO Plus Wireless Trackball Mouse is a superb investment for anyone seeking an ergonomic, precise, and versatile input device. Whether you're a professional working long hours at your computer or a casual user looking to upgrade your mouse, this product delivers in every aspect. It has certainly improved my computing experience, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to others. It's a true game-changer in the world of ergonomic peripherals.

Most Comfortable Mouse I've Ever Used
|
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
The Logitech MX ERGO with a trackball mouse is truly the most comfortable mouse I have ever used. I thought the 20-30 degrees slant would make no difference with comfort but it works wonders. I say 20 to 30 because with the added wedge you can achieve a 30 degrees slant but without it you can only achieve 20 degrees. I personally prefer to use the mouse at the 20 degrees slant pretty much at all times.
The mouse also has 6 programmable buttons that you can remap via the Logitech options software that you can find by searching logitech.com/options. I have a windows 10 pc and the software downloaded quickly and I was able to change the pointer speed to my liking. Just to the right of the trackball there is a button dedicated to something Logitech is calling precision mode which drastically lowers the DPI so you can make those fine adjustments when working on graphic designs or any other piece of art on your computer.
The mouse is wireless and supports Bluetooth pairing with up to two devices but it also comes with a unifying receiver in the case that you do not have Bluetooth on your computing device. You can even hook up the mouse to your game console or smartphone/tablet and all functions of the mouse including the programmable buttons will work. You can also use FLOW which is a feature by Logitech that allows you to move your cursor from one computer to another as long as you are on the same wireless network and the mouse is connected to both computers(Note: You must have Logitech Options also installed on both computers). With this feature you can copy and paste files seamlessly between two different computers.
Overall, I believe the MX ERGO is a truly amazing mouse and the comfort level is through the roof. It's great for browsing, working on school documents, design, and even just sitting back on a couch with the mouse on your lap browsing through movies with your computer or smartphone connected to a TV. It is the ultimate comfort mouse and the trackball was extremely easy to get used to.

I have always been a fan of the track ball type of mouse and this one is no exception. It is very easy to use and can be customized in many different ways to please any user. It is rechargeable so no need to buy batteries. I charged it all the way when I got it and it has remained full since then with pretty regular use every day. I bought it a few weeks ago. It also comes with two different style bases that allow you to adjust the angle that the mouse rests at. It works well a good distance away from my computer with no lag. Overall a great purchase.

Hi... Here's a personal review of my Logitech MX ERGO Plus Wireless Trackball Mouse based on my own personal experience: [and NO, I am NOT a bot, these are my own thoughts and observations] :-)
I've been using the MX ERGO Plus for a good while now, and it has become my go-to mouse for both my tele-work days and during my personal leisure time. Here are my thoughts:
1. Ergonomics: The ergonomic design is a standout feature. The adjustable angle allows me to find the perfect hand position, reducing strain during long hours of use. It's comfortable and feels natural.
2. Precision and Smoothness: The trackball provides precise cursor control. I appreciate the smooth movement, especially when working on detailed tasks like photo editing or graphic design.
3. Customizable Buttons: The additional buttons are handy. I've programmed them for specific functions in different applications. It's convenient to switch between tasks without reaching for the keyboard.
4. Dual Connectivity: Being able to connect via both the RF dongle and Bluetooth is a plus. I use it seamlessly across multiple devices, including my tablet and desktop.
5. Battery Life: The rechargeable battery lasts impressively long. I charge it once every few weeks, even with daily use.
Overall, the MX ERGO Plus strikes a balance between comfort, functionality, and aesthetics.
If you're considering a trackball mouse, I highly recommend giving this one a try!

That mouse is not the typical stuff you can get from the drugstore or the 99 cents store, it's not a cookie cutter gadget too. I can use it on 2 computers simultaneously, I don't have to drag the mouse on my table from left to right. it has a ball on the side and I roll the ball in order to move my cursor. It's wireless and I only charge it twice a year. That mouse was not cheap I was intrigue by the design. I love edgy gadget because I get tired from the same boring stuff. The right tool makes your life easy in whatever field that you choose to work and I am talking from experience sometimes a few dollars extra save you time and keep you on task at ease and you get the most out of your money. The focus is on your task instead of wasting time with the wrong tool or product. Sometimes we try to get an inexpensive product but we keep on replacing it every 6 months on the other hand you get a well designed product you are saving time and money as time goes by.

I've been using thumbwheel mice for many years. They are accurate and once you learn how to use them you won't want to go back to regular mice again. Logitech upped the value of these mice by adding the option to raise it 20-30 degrees. Much easier on the wrist and forearm. It's a little large for using during travel, but, for desktop use there is nothing better than this. It has all the buttons and options one would want in a mouse. If your using a mouse all day I strongly suggest you give it a try.

I traded the horizontal mouse for this. I use to use trackball mice all the time. This one is the best. I like dual connectivity. It's comfortable and adjustable. Wireless with rechargeable battery is a plus since I don't like dealing with changing batteries.

I purchased two MX ERGO plus mice (one for home and one for work), and I have to admit that I am quite satisfied with them.
The ball does seem to take a little bit of time to "break in" since it does feel a bit rough to move the ball initially. However, after a day or two, the mouse would glide quite easily. The charge also lasts a long time. It's been a few months since my initial charge, and I haven't had to plug in either MX ERGO yet.
On the down side, the mouse is quite heavy, so it is a pain to take on a business trip. As such, I kept my lighter weight Logitech M570 as a travel mouse (with a small travel case). This seems to be a nice compromise for me!
The fact that I can adjust the angle of the MX ERGO helps make it quite comfortable, and it is also easy to work with. It's a little pricy, but I highly recommend it if you are interested in purchasing this mouse.

If you're familiar with the Logitech Trackball, then this is already familiar. But they've made some improvements. First of all, is the internal, rechargeable battery. No more AA batteries! When the internal battery gets low (the Logictech software will let you know), just plug the included micro USB cable into your PC, and you can keep working while charging. Next, the base of the unit itself is magnetized and attaches to a metal plate which allows you to pivot the unit on an angle for for ergonomic comfort. In addition, the mouse also comes with a sturdy rubber platform to increase the angle for even more comfort. It's a bit on the pricey side. But it's well worth the expense!

Really great and comfortable to use mouse (after you get used to it). If you're accustomed to using a regular non-trackball mouse like I was this may feel awkward to use for the first couple of days. But, after 2-3 days of constant use, you'll become acclimated. After working endless hours, I could definitely say I haven't yet experienced any wrist pain and I've had this mouse for over a year. Battery life is great; last for about month or even more though I try to charge it once a month, so I don't have any sudden interruption and that's with leaving the mouse turned on 24/7.
I would recommend this to a friend

This was my very first trackball mouse so I really didn't know what to expect. I know a lot of people who use them and love them but I have always been skeptical since I have always used traditional mice. Let me tell you, this thing is awesome!
First setup is so easy you don't even need instructions as are most mice. Plug and play. So withing seconds I was playing around on the internet with the mouse. I was very surprised at how easy it is to adapt to the trackball, it almost comes naturally. Then I changed the angle of the mouse and it felt even more natural and comfortable in my hand.
You flip the mouse over and it lists a website to download the Logitech software. I visited the site and within a few short minutes I had the software not only downloaded and installed but it launched and instantly recognized my trackball mouse. It let me configure my quick launch buttons with ease so now my mouse was even MORE useful and natural.
I use AutoCAD and other programs that require precise tracking. This mouse has a button that turns on "precision tracking" and slows down the mouse speed for you. This is a very useful feature as I don't have to go into the mouse settings to play around with the tracking speed, but just toggle it on and off now.
So far I love everything about this mouse and I would highly recommend it. I have even used it while laying on the floor where my hand barely has to move. I actually fell asleep.
