I was a little skeptical about investing in this mouse, but all my friends highly recommended the previous models. I primarily used the Magic Mouse before this but I was finding some tasks more difficult without a scroll wheel. So I decided to jump in and I'm glad I did. It is larger than any mouse I've used in the past but it feels really nice and solid. I love how the buttons feel smooth and firm and less clicky than my 'gaming' mice do. I haven't taken full advantage of the haptic functions yet, but there are a lot of programs I use that have integrations for it. And bonus, the charging cable plugs in and it can still be used while charging!

As computer mice go, you have the left-click button, the right-click button, and the scroll wheel. Many people don’t even realize that the scroll wheel can be pressed on some mice. For a basic mouse, this functionality is not customizable and the wheel press is rarely needed. As more of a power-user, I won’t use a mouse unless it has the back button on the side of it, which I use heavily in web browsers and file explorers on the computer. I’m too used to that functionality that it will actually drive me nuts to not have it. Of course, then you have the Logitech MX Master 4 mouse, with literally a half-dozen more buttons than a standard mouse. The increased productivity in this mouse makes it comparable to a keyboard with dedicated customizable buttons. It’s both exciting and overwhelming at the same time. I've included a couple of screenshots to show you examples of what all can be done. Before beginning, if you are accustomed to using a mouse with your left hand, this is not designed in any way for you. Nothing to see here. Another note - if you are considering this mouse for yourself or someone who has mobility issues, read on. There are some helpful features but also some caveats. Finally, this mouse can be paired with up to 3 devices. ———————————————————————————— First off, if the only thing you use your computer for is browsing the internet, email, and maybe typing up an occasional document, this mouse may very well be overdoing it for you, depending on your needs. If you use your computer for any type of production (graphics, video, even programming), there are a lot of advantages to this device. Be prepared, thought, if you have never used a device like this, as there is a learning curve, especially in muscle memory. As mentioned, anyone with certain mobility issues may find this mouse quite useful as well. I will cover the basics of this mouse and then the extra buttons and features. ————————————————————— OVERALL ————————————————————— This mouse is big and rather heavy. I have small to medium size hands and long fingers. While the mouse is ergonomic for me to use, it took me getting used to it as a gravitate toward a smaller mouse. Because of this, and also because I occasionally will get spasms in my hands that cause unintended movements, in the short time I have used this mouse, I have still not gotten the muscles trained to use it easily, although that is coming along quickly, as it’s just a muscular learning curve. Since it is also heavy, it will require more deliberate movements to move it around, but this also helps with the resistance to use the other buttons on it. Anyone with mobility issues in their hands may struggle with this, but arm or shoulder issue sufferers may actually benefit. The sides have a grippy rubber feel with an added texture that feels good to hold. I imagine that it will take frequent wiping to keep it clean though. The left and right buttons are very quiet, as the weight of the device likely absorbs a lot of the noise produced by clicking them. They are definitely not a disturbance compared to lower-quality mice. ———————————————————————————— As mentioned, there are 6 additional buttons on this mouse that may be new to you. Nearly every button on this mouse can be programmed using the Logi Options+ application that can be downloaded from Logi’s website (Windows and Mac, unfortunately not Linux although there is a community-driven program). In many cases, the buttons can be further customized by application, so if you use graphic design software, office applications, video editing software, or really any application on your computer (there is a selector to choose the application), you are able to create profiles specific to that application that will allow you to customize the behavior of the mouse buttons. This is where it’s both exciting and overwhelming since there are SO many possibilities. ————————————————————— 1 & 2. - The back and forward buttons ————————————————————— As I mentioned, I basically cannot use a mouse without these buttons, as they have been part of my computer usage for as long as I can remember. Basically, they are the Back and Forward buttons that exist in your web browser and your file explorer. Press the back button to go back a page, press forward to go forward a page. These are on the side of the mouse very near where your thumb rests, making it easy for your thumb to control. Of course, these buttons are programmable for other features. Ironically, the back button does not perform as expected in the Logi Options+ app! ————————————————————— 3. The Soft Wheel Mode button ————————————————————— Located on the top of the mouse, this is a button that changes the scroll of the mouse wheel from a “click” feel as you move it to a perfectly smooth scroll. This is easily just a user preference, but there are instances where one might be better than the other, such as smooth scrolling for extremely precise control, or click scrolling to keep scrolling consistent. There is intelligence built into the mouse (called SmartShift) that will sense when you are scrolling rapidly, such as in a long web page, so that even when smooth scrolling is not on, the mouse will briefly switch to smooth scrolling to allow faster and less janky scrolling, similar to a smart phone. This can be turned off in the settings if not desired. You can also program this button to perform other functions if you don’t want to use that feature. ————————————————————— 4. A Gestures button ————————————————————— Located on the side of the mouse just a little further from your thumb as the Forward button, this button can be used in conjunction with specific mouse movements to perform gestures in much the same way you might use multiple fingers and dragging motions on a trackpad. One of the default settings is to switch desktops if you use that feature in your operating system. While I like the idea of this feature, I found it hard to use as the button is harder to press than I think it should be, and with the weight of the mouse requiring more effort to move, I had difficulty using this feature without accidentally pressing other mouse buttons that I didn’t mean to. The functions are highly customizable though, so you can build the gestures to do all sorts of actions. The default on my Mac uses features like desktop switching and Mission Control. I made this my switch application button - far more useful to me. ————————————————————— 5. A side scroll wheel ————————————————————— Another one for your thumb. This wheel can be used to scroll sideways in a document that you might otherwise use a click-and-drag panning feature. This wheel is customizable like the other buttons, and one that I see as a candidate for programming in different application profiles. For example, a large PDF document would benefit from the side scrolling, while a photo editing app benefits from this button being programmed to zoom in and out (yes, that’s an option), and as someone who regularly has 18 tabs open in my browser, the ability to scroll through them with this wheel (yes, that’s an option too!). This is my favorite feature in this mouse overall! ————————————————————— 6. The Show Action Button ————————————————————— The side grip of the mouse where your thumb rests has a button that can be pressed as though you are squeezing the sides of the mouse. Like the others, it can be programmed for other functions, but the default will bring up a visual on your screen.- a circle of 8 visual buttons that each can be programmed to perform different actions, from copy and paste to opening an application to visiting a specific webpage and countless more. This is another button that can add significantly to productivity with application profiles, since you can build this wheel based on the application. It’s customization paradise. One feature I’m very grateful for with this button is to adjust it’s sensitivity. When I first started to use this mouse, I found it WAY too sensitive and was accidentally pressing it all the time, especially with the other ergonomic factors I was getting use to. While the sensitivity levels are not all that different, I was at least able to make it require a firmer press to work. In this same region is a haptic feedback feature. When using this for the Show Action visual, the mouse will vibrate to indicate when your screen cursor is hovering over one of the on-screen buttons. Even better, the haptic feedback can be disabled or customized to varying levels. The combination of these two features in this mouse can be a huge aid to anyone with mobility issues. This makes it possible to perform functions that might otherwise be better done with a keyboard, while instead only requiring very slight mouse movements. The ability to program them per application makes it possible to tailor the shortcuts created in this feature to the specific application. Finally, the haptic feedback can also help with visual impairments. ———————————————————————————— Overall, the customization offered by this mouse is a dream-come-true for power users who want to balance keyboard shortcuts with mouse usage, as well as anyone with certain mobility or visual limitations. However, those with small hands may have some difficulty using it, and it is heavier than many mice on the market. Be prepared to spend some time setting it up, customizing it to your needs, changing those customizations a dozen times, and retraining everything your hand muscles know, but afterwards, you may find this mouse as indispensable as the back button is to me.

    Best professional mouse

Besides specific gaming scenarios, this is un my opinion the best computer mouse. I'm already using an MX series keyboard and had a travel MX mouse on my work computer. Already had experience with the MX Master series at my home computer so I'm happy to add the MX Master 4 to my workflow. I used an ergonomic mouse before and this is a happy middle ground. While it doesn't fit the hand in a handshake position, it still works in a slight angle, very similar to a typing position and not flat like a traditional mouse. While older MX Master series mouse are as good as it gets, this takes it to a whole new level. Let me explain: All the touch surfaces have been redesigned: the body of the mouse is now a hard plastic that is more resistant to oils. The buttons are now of a thick clear plastic with a dark background. This material is meant to prevent the 'polished' look that other Logitech products develop after a while, so it's expected to look like new for longer. The bottom of the mouse has more sliding surfaces, and adds a ring around the sensor. It now has exposed screws on the bottom so it should be easier to service/clean inside. There is no longer a need to peel off the sliding material, as it's all exposed on the bottom of the mouse (Not visible while in use). The charging USB-C port remains on the front and can be used while charging. However the USB-C port, like in other models, cannot be used for data, so the mouse is always connected via wireless. The main scrolling wheel is all metal, and can dynamically switch between step and freewheeling modes. This is configurable via the Options software or from the button in front of the wheel. The purpose for that button is also configurable. On the right side there is a separate wheel that is normally configured for horizontal scrolling. This wheel does provide some friction so it can only scroll when intentionally pushed. Behind this wheel there are three buttons. Two are close together are usually used as Back and Forward keys. The third button is meant to use with Expose or Control Center. The surface where the thumb rests is now a large button that also provides haptic feedback. This is all new. The default function for this button is to launch the Logitech Action Ring, that can be configured via their Options+ software and it's intended as application-specific ring with shortcuts. This was originally introduced with the MX Creative Console, which I'm also using, so I'm familiar with the action ring. This can be configured per application but there a are very few applications that are pre-defined, and mostly includes creative suites, conferencing and music applications, but for the most part you might have to build your own actions, and it's fairly straightforward to do so. The haptic feedback is currently very limited, it works when using the action ring and in a handful of other cases that can be configured. I expect that the number of scenarios where haptic feedback works would increase. The amount of feedback force can be configured and I left it at it's lowest setting. It can pack a punch in higher settings that did not find comfortable. Like other MX series devices, it can connect to three different devices (computers, phones, etc) and if the computers have the Logitech flow configured, can directly see each other on the local network (as in, not in a VPN), and the keyboard is also an MX series device, Flow can seamlessly switch control between computers when crossing the edge of the screen, as configured. This is a great way to share the same keyboard and mouse. It worked great for me, but doesn't work when my work laptop is on VPN, and this is a VPN-specific restriction. Normally this works very well in a desktop with two or three computers. One can manually switch the mouse by pressing the pairing button on the bottom, which has a device indicator light as well. Recent Logitech devices, besides Bluetooth, support the 'Logitech Bolt' USB adapter. When using the adapter, the computer sees it as an USB device, and the computer's Bluetooth is not involved. I like this better on my macs, because I leave the adapter in their docking hub, and can use the keyboard and mouse during the boot password (FileVault), otherwise macOS no longer allows 3rd party Bluetooth devices at this stage until macOS started. It's important to me when using the laptop with its lid closed. However, the MX Master 4 for Mac does not include the Bolt adapter, while the PC version (not Mac) is exactly the same hardware, with slight color variations, and does not include the adapter in the box and has to be purchased separately, while costing the same. I find this quite disingenuous. Because I already use an MX keyboard, I could pair it with my existing bolt adapter. Overall, it's as good as it gets. Currently the best professional mouse bar none, although I'd argue that the PC version is better because it includes the Bolt adapter at the same price. Note that the USB-C cable for charging is also not included. I can use the same cable that I use to charge my phone however and that's fine.

Comfort, Precision, and Control in One Device

One of the things I love about peripherals is how they can be customized. I’ve always had an affinity for keyboards, but now I have to say, I have a new appreciation for mice, too. I’ve been using standard mice for quite some time. In my opinion, the simpler the better, and too many buttons get confusing. Logitech does a great job of creating an easy-to-use application that not only explains the default button structure but also gives users many ways to customize their device. I’ve been using Logitech mice for years. One of my favorites has been the Logitech Anywhere series, but I’ve also found a strong draw towards gaming mice lately due to their robust build quality. That said, too many buttons get intimidating, which is why I really like this MX Master 4. Even though it has a lot of I/O options, it’s not overwhelming because the Logi Options app helps you learn how to control them in a way that works best for you. There are a lot of mice out there that are not designed for macOS first. Mac users often get left out when it comes to advanced peripheral design. But the MX Master 4 is designed for Mac users. I used the MX Master 3 for a while, but I really love what Logitech has done to upgrade this premium mouse. To me, the mouse is very comfortable to use. The shape and size fit my hand very well, and all the inputs are in easy-to-reach places. The main scroll wheel is made of metal, and there are little teeth in place for gripping on your finger. It spins very easily, and I’ve found movements to be smooth and even. I love that the mode button helps you switch with one click between the two scrolling modes. The buttons have a soft feel to them. They aren’t mechanically ‘clicky’ and an easy tap registers an input. There are several programmable buttons all on the thumb side of the mouse. While I’m on that subject, this is a right-hand only mouse. There is no option to switch which hand you use it with based on how it was designed. I mentioned the app that you use with the mouse. Well, you can use the mouse without it, but you will only get the left and right click buttons and regular scroll functionality from the mouse without the app. It’s unfortunate that you are required to run a utility app, but the Logi Options app is much better than other utility apps I’ve seen. You can connect the MX Master 4 with a USB-C cable (not provided), the Logi Bolt receiver (not included), or Bluetooth. I connected via Bluetooth first and then used the Logi Bolt, which I already had. Being connected via the receiver was a little problematic because of other device interference. So, my experience was much better connected as Bluetooth. The connection was smooth, and I didn’t have any issues with jittering. One of the features of this mouse that is really helpful is the gestures button. Logitech has a software feature called the Action Ring. This is a customizable set of actions that you can program as global settings or per application. The MX Master 4 has a Haptic Button that calls up the Action Ring with a simple click. This has completely changed how I interact with my system. I use a lot of shortcut keys most of the time, but now I can just use the action menu through the Haptic button on the mouse. In case you can’t tell, I’m a fan of this mouse. It delivers a comfortable, customizable experience that fits really well into my workflow.

    ## What's new in version 4? Many of the new features in the MX Master 4 are software driven, but there are some new hardware tweaks as well. The MX Master 4 has some new haptic feedback hardware that, in a similar fashion to your phone, can provide subtle vibrations in your hand. You'll notice this when the mouse powers on, but you can customize additional haptic feedback through the Logi Options+ software. There is also a new "Actions Ring" feature that brings customizable shortcuts to where your cursor is. By pressing the new button near your thumb, a ring of customizable options pops up. Additionally, you'll find a new "Gesture" button by the back/forward buttons. Holding it while moving the mouse allows you to perform different gestures such as moving the left virtual desktop or going into Task View. This can be customized in the Options+ software. Most of these features require the Logi Options+ software to be installed, which looks like a simple 40MB download, but it then downloads an additional 250MB while installing. Seems somewhat bloated for customizing a mouse, but you can use the MX Master 4 without the download (you just won't have the haptic feedback and Action Ring features). Connectivity is also improved with up to 2x stronger wireless signal strength thanks to a new antenna. On the exterior, the MX Master 4 features a new stain-resistant coating and larger thumb rest area. It's important to note that this mouse does not come with a charging cable (it uses a standard USB-C connection). It also does not come with a Logi Bolt dongle. ## Design As I've said before, the Logi MX Master 3 is one of the most comfortable mice I have used, and the MX Master 4 feels slightly different but still just as comfortable. Even after long work sessions, my hand doesn't seem to fatigue as easily as it does with a standard mouse. The larger thumb rest is appreciated, and all of the buttons and the scroll wheels work smoothly. On the bottom is the power switch as well as the device switching button, which lets you switch between 3 different Bluetooth devices. ## Performance One of the coolest new features is the "Action Rings" that you can access with the new thumb button. You'll need the Logi Options+ software to take advantage of these "Action Rings," which can do things like open the emoji picker, play/pause your media, and access the website for AI agents like ChatGPT and Perplexity. The mouse also provides new haptic feedback as you hover over each option. It's a handy new feature and the haptics add a definite "cool factor" to using this mouse. There's even a "marketplace" of plugins that add Action Rings for popular applications such as Photoshop and Zoom. For example, you can add a "Mute" option to the Action Rings and then easily access with the thumb button during a Zoom meeting. Browsing the marketplace requires a Logi account which is a bit of an inconvenience (an account to use my mouse?!), but that seems to be the norm with modern hardware. The new "gesture" button is cool, but the button is just a bit too far from my thumb and I really need to reach for it. You press and hold the button while moving your mouse up, down, left or right to do things like maximize windows, show your desktop, or switch between virtual desktops. These can of course be customized with the software. The mouse itself is great to use, and I find the tracking to be very accurate, even when I use my couch cushions as a mouse pad. ## Battery Life The mouse can last up to 70 days on a single charge and is easily recharged with a standard USB-C cable (not included). Logitech also states that a quick one-minute charge can get you up to 3 hours of usage, which is handy if you forgot to charge it. ## Summary The Logi MX Master 4 adds haptic feedback, new thumb and gesture buttons, as well as some cool new software features with Activity Rings. It still retains the comfort, smoothness and long battery life of the MX Master 3s, but does not come with a dongle nor charging cable

    Amazing premium mouse

This is a pretty amazing mouse. It likely has some features that most people will never need but add some wow factor (haptics). If you can train yourself to use all the features, this can be one great mouse for power users. Pros: - Ergonomics - Style - Haptics - Button options - Customizability Cons: - Almost too many features! - No Unifying receiver included Setup: As this mouse does not come with a unifying receiver, which I found weird for it being their flagship mouse, you will need to set it up via bluetooth unless you have a unifying receiver already. This is not hard at all, just pick your device assignment on the bottom of the mouse (1, 2, or 3) and use the bluetooth pairing on your Mac or PC (it will work fine with both even though it is the “For Mac” version). You are not required to download any software but I do recommend you download the Logi Options+ software if you want full customizability, firmware updates and more. Usage: I tested this mouse out with my Mac Mini M1. It worked great with no issues. I had my options set up to default settings most of the review period. I have a 49” Ultrawide Monitor but I found 1200 DPI to be the best for getting around this large monitor without being too fast or slow. It can go up to 8000 DPI if you wish though. I loved the high quality movement and feel of all the buttons and the horizontal/vertical scroll wheels. You can switch the vertical wheel to smooth or a more intermittent scrolling feel. The horizontal wheel is perfect for books, websites and magazines and is a good replacement for touch scrolling on a trackpad. The buttons all operate quietly and have a great feel. The coolest features are also the ones you might need to find a use case for which is haptics and the Haptic Sense Panel button. When you press it, it will show a ring of options depending on the program you are running and how you customized it. Some options might include screenshots, finder, AI rephrase, notes, play/pause, emojis. In zoom it can include shortcuts such as video on/off, mic on/off, raise hand and so on. You can customize these in the Logi Options+ software. The shortcuts work very well but take a lot of getting used to since I am used to just doing it the way I know how already and had to retrain my brain to use the shortcuts. It can be quicker if you know what is on the menu. The haptics are amazing and feel as good as what you might find in an iPhone or a Google Pixel. They only work in the shortcuts menus as far as I can tell and haven’t found any other use for it yet but it has potential. Supposedly it should be able to be used with feedback on scrolling, snapping onto grids, switching desktops and so on but I have not noticed it anywhere outside of built-in Logitech menu items as I assume it needs to be integrated via APIs into other software by 3rd parties. I can see a lot of use for this for creatives with the menu and haptics in editing software. Build quality: Premium… that is the best way to describe this mouse. Every item on here is high quality rubber, metal or plastic. It has a heavy weight which helps with the ergonomics and movement while still gliding easily. Battery: I received mine with a 50% charge. I have yet to charge it and have used it for 3-4 days so far and it still shows at 50%. I assume it will last a very good while with its included 650 mAh battery, but Logitech quotes it at 70 days of use on their website. Charging is via USB-C.

Mouses are largely our main way of interacting with computers and having a quality one matters. Logitech has been the best in the business for some time now, but continues to improve with the MX Master 4! PROS: - Unboxing, I really like the look of this! It’s a sleek black but the left and right clickers have more of a transparent look to them. And nothing about this feels cheap, it’s very premium, has legit metal in the scrollers, and the buttons feel sturdy with an overall nice weight to it. - The clicks are also very satisfying! It’s not loud, and just feels very smooth while using. - Now the big upgrade to this is the haptic feedback via the action ring button, and it’s definitely fun to use and changes the way you use your mouse! Clicking it gives you quick access to some commands you can chose for yourself. It can be system settings, finder, open Chat GPT, calculator, screenshot, etc. It’s a nice quick feature to use and brings a lot of functionality I think. - The mouse also has more buttons on the top and side that can be customized in the Logi Options+ app (which is fantastic and a must have app) so either quick things like copy and paste or even opening up command center view! - It’s also really easy to switch from MacBook, to iPad, and back with this either through their eligible flow options or just through Bluetooth controls which is super quick. CONS: - The “Mx Master 4” comes with a USB C dongle, the “MX Master 4 for Mac” does not come with a USB C dongle. Obviously it works on Bluetooth but it’s just a nice to have thing I didn’t think they needed to exclude. - The action ring needs some software updates. Right now it’s focused a lot on things Logitech can do or things Logitech’s marketplace apps can do. Yes there are tasks it can do specific to your computer like open apps or function commands, but I find those ones to be hit or miss at times. However, these are all software based things and easily fixed in my view! - I’d also like to see the haptic feedback available for more interactions instead of just the action ring, but again this is a software based fix! BOTTOM LINE: - As someone who uses a mouse many hours a day, it really does matter to have one that is high end and makes work or creation easier. The MX Master 4 for Mac does just that. It’s exceptionally made, has loads of features, improves my workflow, and is packed with tech. I’ve been very happy as this mouse being my daily driver and I think everyone else is gonna love it too.

Received the Logitech MX MASTER 4 for my Mac and since my older mouse has been giving me trouble was pleased it arrived. Upon unpacking I did notice there was no instruction sheet but I went online to figure out what all the bells and whistles were for. It has a nice textured silicone surface with a translucent edge. I started charging it which took about 3 hours, then it was ready for setup. There was no Logi Bolt USB-c plug-in receiver dongle or a charging cable included but I used a 5.1 Bluetooth connection. I believe the Windows version does include the dongle however. There is the scroll wheel on top, quiet click sensor and up to 70 days of battery life. There is an action ring that lets me access my favorite shortcuts at the push of a button. Has a magspeed scroll wheel for super fast scrolling. I like the customizable haptic feedback on specific actions. There are 8 buttons and it has horizontal scroll with the thumb wheel, gesture button, a rechargeable 650 mAh battery with wireless connection and the range is up to 33 feet. Height is 5.05" ~ Width 4.38" ~ Depth 2" and it weighs 5.29 ounces. For sensors it has Darkfield high precision, Nominal Value 1000 and DPI with the minimum value 200 and max is 8000 which can be set in increments of 50 DPI. They offer the Logi Options + Customization app and basic support in Tune. It has subtle vibration and multi-functional Haptics. There is also a shortcut menu which you can choose what option you'd like to use. Using the Logi app it lets you assign those shortcuts and gestures to buttons. I find this mouse very precise and comfortable and I have small hands. It stays flawlessly connected to the Bluetooth and it's quite impressive in my honest opinion. I am so happy I chose this particular mouse and can highly recommend its purchase!

Not sure what else a mouse can do! Logitech has put every possible option into this mouse. It can truly do it all, and do it well. Came packaged for easy access and everything you need to get started. The first impression is quality. Super quality build and great feel in your hand. I have big hands and this things fits perfect. You can tell right away that the components are well made and well designed. The software that you download is so EASY to use and navigate through. It really customizes the mouse to exactly how you want it and what you want all the buttons to do. And it does it really well! This is the best software for a mouse I have ever used. A breeze to use and understand. Click, Spin, and Boom....everything just as you want it. Movement of the mouse was simple. The buttons are all super responsive and just the right amount of pressure is needed to get them to function. I used this on macOS and it works perfect. They call this the MASTER SERIES and it truly lives up to its name. Even the "Action Ring" is a home run. It lets you access your favorite shortcuts right on the mouse. If I had to summarize the mouse with one word, it would be "precision". The mouse works and works beyond well. Grab the MX Master by Logitech. You will NOT be disappointed! Highly recommended.

Outstanding on Mac but iPad needs serious help

I’ve been hearing every tech personality on the planet rave about this line of mice it seems like, so it was nice to actually get one in my hands and see what all the fuss is about. For starters, I’ll just state the obvious for any other folks who may be new to this one: it has lots of buttons and darn near everything is customizable. (*unless you’re on iPad. More on that below.) It’s the latter that is so impressive to me and Logi’s software on the Mac works really well and gives so many options to this customization that I haven’t even really explored half of it yet. BUT maybe more importantly is that I’m not even sure I want to because everything worked right out of the box and I like the default settings quite a lot. Because I have a Logitech mechanical keyboard I already had the Logi Options software downloaded and installed on my computer. So, literally I just turned the mouse on, went to Bluetooth settings and was up and running in two minutes tops. It was charged and ready to rock. The one thing I was a little uncertain about was the shape and feel. I have a vertical mouse that has definitely helped with some wrist pain, so the concern isn’t just trivial. And I will say that upon first use I wasn’t entirely sure I was going to find the MX Master 4 comfortable to use. But those concerns have all but gone away. I’m experiencing no discomfort and furthermore, I find this design to be the most comfortable on my thumb of any mouse that I’ve ever used. Ever. It rests on the side there in a spot that has some nice texture to it to go along with where there is now a haptic engine and the action ring button. I love this button. A) the haptics feel cool B) it’s of course customizable to all ends and C) the default setting is a REALLY good starting point. I’ll share a screen shot but essentially it allows you to open up a context menu anywhere on your Mac’s screen, giving you shortcuts to things like Finder, a whole suite of AI tools, copy/paste, Logi Options, and more. The only negative here is that having never had such a button before I’m having to force myself a little to remember it’s there. But I do expect it will become 2nd nature in no time. It’s a really, really cool bit of productivity design. (And looks good, too.) The other buttons I think are probably familiar to anyone who’s likely looking at this mouse. Again, I’ve never owned any in this series so they’re new to me and they are fantastic. The side scroll is super useful on iPad, and I love that I can change how the vertical scroll wheel works just by pressing that little button beneath it. Everything clicks extremely quietly, it all feels soft and comfortable, and I haven’t noticed any fingerprint/oil issues. Also, this mouse is heavy! And I love that. Okay, so the negatives are really just limited to one simple thing but it’s a big one in my opinion: the iPad app is garbage. It recognizes the mouse but shows a picture of a Logitech keyboard. Huh?? While basic pointer functions work, none of the side buttons (including thumb) do and there is zero way to customize anything because again, the iPad app is either broken or so painfully lacking in features compared to what’s on the Mac that you’d almost think it was made by a different company. Maybe things will get better with an app update, but looking at the reviews I’m not hopeful. It’s a shame; I don’t understand why they didn’t go the extra mile. All in all, if you’re looking for a new powerful mouse for your Mac I have a hard time you’ll be disappointed with the MX4. I understand the fuss!

Being no stranger to the Logitech MX mouse collection, and having worn out my previous MX’s, when the MX 4 was released, I needed to get my hands on it. Logitech had never let me down with the upgrades before, so I had very high expectations going in. Maybe a bit too high. Here are some things that I found were a fantastic upgrade to the 3 and 3s (yes, I have both, seems like it’s fitting I upgrade every 3 years): * Superrrr quiet clicking. Nothing was worse than the loud clicking in the office, especially as a designer going through different designs and workflows. I was always hyper-aware when I had rage-clicked for certain tasks. * The material upgrade is a chef’s kiss. The soft-touch rubber from previous editions became quite sticky over time, so much so that after being well-loved, I needed to add some gripe tape over it. Though some may see the plastic as a downgrade, I saw this as a big welcome! Much easier to clean and more comfortable. * Ergonomics. At first, it was a bit difficult to get used to almost 6 years of using the MX3 and MX3S, but after a few hours, it was pretty simple. The horizontal wheel (I can’t live without it!), is larger and positioned higher, which felt more natural to use. * Easy connection. Can’t get any easier. Bluetooth connection as easy as 1,2,3. Optimize features by downloading the Logi Options app. * Action ring button switched. One thing I hardly used on the previous versions was the tab/menu switching button from the thumb because it was difficult to press. But the upgrade made it much simpler and easier to press. Plus the hepatics was a nice addition for those seeking some feedback. Things that were a miss for me: * As much I loved the plastic body upgrade...the right side (pinky side) silicone material was a miss for me. In the previous editions, I was able to rest my pinky and ring finger with a good grip or on the plastic edge. Because of the material, I found my pinky and ring finger slipping more often than I liked. For that I'm knocking down 1 star. * The higher body of the upgrade changed the resting comfort for my hand, which is small to medium in size. The previous version's lower body allowed a more natural resting position, while the upgrade’s higher body required a greater hand tilt for comfort. * No USB-C dongle for the Mac version. Not surprised as it the previous one didn’t have it either, but it would’ve been nice to have just in case Bluetooth didn’t work. * Polling rate. For the price point and upgrades, I was expecting higher poll rates. * Haptic feedback is not enabled out-of-the-box. Although the Logi Option software is free to download, it is an additional required step. Final thoughts: There are some major updates from the previous version that made this a game-changer, but there are also updates that I was less impressed with. I will be keeping the 4 at home and the 3s/3 for traveling/work.

I am an Apple user (MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, etc.) I upgraded from the MX Master 3. The new MX Master 4 for Mac feels like a thoughtful evolution rather than a complete redesign — and that’s a good thing. Design & Feel: The MX Master 4 matches my MacBook Pro and Logitech MX Keys for Mac beautifully. The “Space” color blends seamlessly into my Apple setup. The build quality and ergonomics remain top-tier — comfortable for all-day use with a satisfying premium feel. Performance & Features: One of my favorite tweaks is the extra side button. I reconfigured it from the default gesture button to activate the Show Actions Ring, and it feels more natural here. While this feature isn’t new, its placement and responsiveness make it far more enjoyable to use compared to my MX Master 3. Quiet & Smooth: The left and right clicks are noticeably quieter — a subtle but welcome change that makes a difference in a quiet workspace. Multi-Device Use: I love being able to pair it with multiple devices, like my MacBook Pro and iPad, via Bluetooth. Switching between devices is seamless and fast. Minor Drawback: There’s no USB-C charging cable included in the box, which is disappointing for a premium device — but I already had one, so it wasn’t a big issue. Final Thoughts: The MX Master 4 feels refined, responsive, and perfectly tuned for the Mac ecosystem. My old MX Master 3 is now my travel mouse — the 4 has earned a permanent spot on my desk.

I’ve been using this mouse for a few weeks, and it’s easily one of the best I’ve ever owned. The ergonomic design fits perfectly in the hand, and the build quality feels premium. The scroll wheel is super smooth and automatically switches between ratchet and free-spin modes — great for long documents or spreadsheets. Battery life is outstanding; I’ve charged it once and it’s still going strong. Bluetooth pairing was quick, and the ability to switch between multiple devices with one click is a huge plus for my setup. Highly recommend it for anyone who works long hours on a computer or values precision and comfort.
