Durable and intuitive case with keyboard

This is a fantastic keyboard for the fact that it is super durable and so sharp looking. I use my iPad as a full on computer interface with this practically. The case is sturdy and provides some serious protection with the folio giving it some bulk and thickness. Feels like a nice book when carrying it and it seems to make this more upscale to me. I like the color scheme and it looks great. The feel and texture of the case is excellent and it has a nice hybrid cloth / graphite feel to it. The magnetic clasp is precise and accurate and helps to ensure a solid close of the folio and tucks away behind the folio when the iPad is being used. The iPad has a great feel with the kickstand bumped out and it is very sturdy. The keyboard has great tactile feel and a smooth texture across your fingertips. The ports and buttons are all easy to access. The volume is a bit hard to push but still accessible when you get the hang of it. The keyboard makes it easier to operate the iPad with built in hot keys to help the productivity of the device. Home button, volume buttons, and etc built right into the keyboard. Easily would recommend this to anyone with the latest iPad and if you want to maximize your iPad for protection and functionality like a small laptop.

    Rugged and Great Keyboard!!!

    Posted .

The Rugged Folio by Logitech was priced at $139.99 is Just in time after Christmas Gift. I have the new 7th Generation iPad and this folio is just the right case for it. **Note: This product is only for the 7th Generation iPad** This case is slim, rugged and light for the type of case. The iPad fit right in and synced up no problem. The case is deceptively rugged with a hard plastic casing around the iPad and fits snug in the case, no movement once its in. Typing on it is also nice. I know this can be subjective but it has the feeling of raised keys yet they are covered spill resistant keypad that is rarely a comfort to me. This one passed all my expectations. Now my wife says the case is a bit manly however the iPad I have (see pictures attached) is a slate Grey and I do think this case would look great with Gold or White. I would highly recommend this case for students of all ages, traveling salespeople and on the go people in general. This is a 5 Star case. Well done Logitech for making such a great case for the new iPad 7th Gen product. Bravo.

I realize that $139 seems steep for a case for a $329-429 iPad, but this is the best case for someone who wants to get the most out of their iPad. You want it to be a full laptop with hard-wired keyboard? Done. You want it to go full mobile like a table should? And you want the camera to not be covered up when you flip the keyboard around to the back? Done and done. Everything has been thought of. It’s rugged and protective. It holds the Apple Pencil. It’s use of magnets is really smarts. With this case, the iPad 7, and the new iPadOS, this could replace a laptop for 98% of the population.

Excellent case if you need a keyboard

    Posted .
    Pros mentioned:
    Design, Keys, Product construction

The quality of this case is excellent and definitely feels right given the price. It's a bit tight getting the iPad in, but that's good because once it's in, it provides a very nice and tight fit. It's a very solid and heavy case. The weight of it might be good for some people, but my wife has already complained about how heavy it makes the iPad overall. Luckily I haven't tested how well it protects the iPad during a fall, and hope I never do, but I feel pretty good about it if it does. Looking at the construction and the ribs along the sides I have no doubt it'll live up to its claims. The keyboard worked right away and works perfectly. The design of it is nice too since you don't have to worry about spills or debris getting under the keys. What's especially nice is that when the keyboard is behind the iPad (in a configuration where you obviously couldn't use it intentionally), it seems that the keyboard is disabled, so that if you accidentally press some keys it won't type or interfere with whatever you're doing on the iPad. As good as the keyboard is, if you're not someone that would use it all the time, this case may not be for you. When it's configured to act as a stand, it doesn't get in the way and tucks in behind it nicely. But when you want to hold your iPad like a tablet, the keyboard is facing out and is a bit awkward, not to mention when you set it down you'll be laying it down on the keyboard, which shouldn't hurt it with the way its designed, but it still doesn't feel right. Plus it's almost impossible to hold it and not be pressing keys, which again, won't do anything, but doesn't feel comfortable or right. Last thing that kept it at 4 stars are the buttons. One side button works perfect, but the volume buttons don't and I have a tough time trying to use them through the case edge. It's not really that big an issue though since Apple makes it pretty easy to control the volume through the screen. To sum up, if you're looking for max protection for your iPad and need or like using a keyboard all the time, then this case is for you.

Rugged case & keyboard. Perfect fit for my new iPa

    Keys, Protection

Rugged case & keyboard. Perfect fit for my new iPad (7). All the right openings. The opening for the main rear camera even has a clear lens cover for added protection to the camera lens. The control buttons are perfectly located and have raised symbols that I can easily feel with my fingers. The keyboard receives power from the three (3) contacts at the bottom edge of the ipad. So no batteries to wear out. Very quiet. Feed back from the keys is good. They are flat, so not the same as other Logi keyboards where the keys are raised like individual buttons. That doesn't mean they are not easy to use or get accustomed to. The back flap props the pad at a perfect reading and typing angle for me. I also like the ability to fold over the front of the keyboard to take up less space as on a Airplane TRAY TABLE.. The top magnetic flap doubles as a pencil holder. It is meant to keep the case from opening during carrying or a fall. I really like the feel and sense of protection t gives my new iPad.

As far as a rugged tent case, this is really nice

    Posted .
    Pros mentioned:
    Keys

Logitech makes really nice stuff, and this is no exception. What I'll say is that you have to like the "tent" style case to really love this. If you wanted to use this as a mini-laptop for your iPad, this might not be a good choice. In other words, you need to have a flat surface if you want to really type with it because it just kinda falls apart if you are using it on your lap, in the car, on the job, etc. when an even flat surface is not available. When I say "tent" style, it has no firm spine, so the iPad has to be held up with a flap that keeps it in place. Since the iPad seems heavier than the case itself, it can be a challenge. As for being a protective case, it does a great job at that without a doubt. It is rated to exceed military drop test standards, I'm not brave enough to try this out but it seems believable. Yes, it is able to be wiped clean, it is going to allow you to get rid of dirt and spills without any damage, and it does allow for decent typing with the keyboard when on a flat surface for the keyboard. The unique feature of this, besides what is already mentioned, is that it draws power for the keyboard from the smart connector you probably didn't even realize the iPad has. So you don't have to remember to charge this, there is no way to charge this aside from it grabbing power from your iPad. Plus the keyboard has shortcut keys to help move around without having to keep tapping the screen. I would have liked to see a backlit keyboard, for when in the field, in the car, or even a dark room. It is because the keyboard is not a typical keyboard size and can be challenging to find the typing "home" position for your fingers when it is dark. If you like tent style cases, this one is decent. But if you were hoping to use your iPad like a laptop, if you don't have a solid surface to work from, this might not be the best choice and might leave you disappointed.

Disclaimer - I received this product in exchange for my fair and unbiased review. TL;DR - The Logitech Rugged Folio Keyboard Case for the 7th generation iPad lives up to its name. Tough, stylish and both comfortable and easy to use. it's one of those things I'll admit is worth its price. If I didn't receive this for free, I would buy this case based on how I feel about it overall, even with it's added weight. Especially because after putting my new iPad into it, I (accidentally) dropped everything onto a concrete floor and you wouldn't be able to tell that it got dropped at all. Unboxing, first impressions, and setup: When Logitech puts their things in boxes, they tend to do the packaging as well as Apple does. Slide the inner box from its outer cover and you have the Rugged Folio Keyboard Cover out. The first thing you'll notice is the case's mass. Once your iPad is in it, the entire setup has some heft. Not necessarily a bad thing, but an iPad with this case weighs noticeably more than the large iPad Pro without a case. You'll also notice that the case itself isn't bulky, so it doesn't really add too much to the size of the iPad outside of thickness when closed or when the keyboard is folded behind the iPad. Open the kickstand, as it makes inserting the iPad much easier when the case is slightly propped up. Put your iPad into it, making sure to line up the camera, headphone jack, power button, and Smart Keyboard Connector to their appropriate spots. It takes a little effort to get the iPad in, but once it is, it's secure and a bit of a pain to remove - not that you'd want to. You don't have to do anything to pair the keyboard, as it's connected directly to the iPad at that point. Open Notes, Pages, Word, Google Docs, or any other app that you bought the keyboard to use with and you're off. Some people would call that "magic", but I call it "wired connections beat wireless connections". If you have an Apple Pencil, Logitech Crayon, or other stylus, you'll see a small slot in the magnetic closure to store that stylus. After the first few times you put your stylus in there, it gets easy. The exterior of the case is a tough nylon. It's nice, and the parts that fold blend in nicely with the parts that don't. The interior of the case is a soft-touch rubber, which is also nice and will save your iPad from scratches to the sides and back. Usage: So I'm usually not a a fan of rubberized keyboard or membrane key switches. This keyboard feels like a real keyboard though, and typing "Sphinx of black quartz, judge my vow" and "The quick red fox jumps over the lazy brown dog" feel natural. Key travel is similar to many laptops, and key press effort isn't overkill. It's also near silent. Using the Smart Keyboard Connector is an added bonus, as it just works like you plugged a keyboard into your computer. The kickstand is simple to use and allows you to set angles good for working on a desk or table or viewing in bed, on a couch, or on the floor. It also folds completely back into the stand. One bonus is on the magnetic closure which can put your iPad to sleep when you close the case up. The port opening for headphones won't block most headphone cables with straight connectors, and the port opening for the lightning connector won't block most larger lighting connectors on cables or the Square credit card reader from connecting to the iPad. The only thing that gets tedious is holding the iPad inside of this case for longer periods of time. This case is rather hefty so you will start to feel it after a while. Not a concern for my usage case, however, as the weight doesn't bother me and my kid normally rests the iPad on his lap during usage. All in all, this is a terrific case. Good protection from bumps and drops, a great fit for the iPad and a keyboard that's actually nice to type on. Well done, Logitech.

    Bulky, Price

Purchased a new iPad and decided to purchase this keyboard instead of the slim folio or the apple Smart Keyboard. So glad I did. This keyboard provides significantly more protection for the iPad, but in a seamless and subtle way. I don't consider it a bulky cover, but there is more protection than the previous two I named. I also like the kickstand. It is not wobbly or lean forward or backward. Once the kickstand is pulled out it leans firmly against it. One of the best attributes is the keyboard. These keys are sealed similar to the Apple Smart Keyboard. The button presses are comfortable and smooth and it has the necessary keys that a keyboard should have. The keyboard charges from the iPad, so that when you charge your iPad you also are charging the keyboard (a huge plus). I never really liked having to separately charge my previous keyboard. And the connection was seamless. I didn't have to go through any steps at all to get it connected. I think the keyboard detected the iPad and vice versa and they just ended up connecting. I highly recommend this keyboard. If you are looking for something more minimal or "light" in terms of weight, then you might think this is a little bulky, especially compared to the Apple Smart Keyboard. However, I would rather have the protection. I used some rewards points towards the purchase. It is on the pricey side and I would probably have waited for it to go on sale, otherwise.

The Rugged Folio works well with the 7th gen iPad. By using the smart connector, no pairing or power is needed. It’s truly plug and play. The case has a somewhat strange texture that may pick up dirt over time in the construction environments we work in. Overall, it is currently the best 7th gen iPad case available with a keyboard.

Bought this for my high school student daughter to use with her iPad. Good quality, works well for her, and was easy to fit on device. She is constantly taking the iPad in and out of her backpack and this protects the iPad very well. It is also versatile enough so she can use it for studying, note taking, app games or video chat. Worth the money!

This is the best designed iPad case I've had. Exactly what I was looking for in every way. Except that the apostrophe (') and backslash (\) keys didn't work. I exchanged four times, same thing. Finally I took the warranty issue to Logitech. They asked me for a long list of pics, numbers and updates. Nothing. Then yesterday (5/27/20), they asked me to try updating to iOS 13.5. That did it! So if you're looking at this, please understand that you'll need to run the newest version of iOS. Beyond that, I really like this case. You don't charge it (it takes phantom power from the iPad), and Apple Pencil pairs well. It doesn't come apart into two pieces like the Slim Folio, and it is indeed rugged. The unit goes in and comes out easily. I'm very happy now that the keyboard problem was solved. I highly recommend this one.

This is a premium item! It provides superior protection, closes securely, and gives me a number of viewing angles. The keyboard is a pleasure to type on and when folded behind the buttons are not active so you can handle the iPad freely. I like the feel of the case but because it is a fabric material I do have a small stain on it. I've tried to wash off lightly and it is still there. Would recommend!

I originally bought the Apple keyboard/case but found out it wasn’t protective because it didn’t cover the screen when the keyboard wasn’t in use. So I returned it and got this Logitech Rugged Folio. Perfect!! The keyboard is an excellent quality, as is the very protective case. It closes, like a book, with a magnetic flap!! Exactly what I was looking for!

I purchased this as the pandemic began and my daughter needed to be on an iPad for school everyday. It has had heavy use and abuse by my 8 year old and her 5 year old sister. It has not only held up, but looks and acts the same as the day I bought it! Definitely recommend!

My wife really wanted me to get a decent case when I upgraded to the new iPad and I wanted a keyboard for it went with this option - and I’m so glad that I did! The smart close was an added bonus that I didn’t think about, but I’ve enjoyed having it in this case. They keyboard connects easily without any additional steps (aside from putting the iPad in the case). They physical typing on the keyboard is actually very quite - another feature I didn’t consider when looking at different options, but having typed on the keyboard while someone else was asleep next to me I can confidently say that I wasn’t nervous the whole time that I might wake them up from typing loudly. The different options for propping the screen up was an anticipated feature of this case it it has not been a disappointment. Overall I would defiantly endorse this case for anyone one looking for a reliable and/or a keyboard to go with your tablet.

    Very nice

I’ve been spending some time with my new case and overall it’s very nice, like the description says it’s rugged meaning heavy duty. It’ll protect your iPad from all angles including the screen. The included keyboard connects directly to your iPad 7th generation and no batteries are needed or charging is needed. Everything about this case including the keyboard has a premium feel to it. The only reason somebody would not like this case is if they wanted something thinner and not as rugged, so that’s personal preference and depends on what you use your iPad for I guess.
