They are loud enough and supply their own power. I wish they were a bit louder, but they work for the job. I don't use them for anything else, so I don't know the quality for music or movies.

I didn't want anything elaborate, just a set of speakers to hear well when using FaceTime, Skype, and playing my guitar to MP3 files. Most of the other brands are only 2.5 watts each, even though they try to hoodwink you by indicating they are 5 watts 2.5 + 2.5 (each speaker). These speakers are actually 5 watts each, and sound great. I answer my phone on the computer and they sound EXACTLY like the person, as if they were sitting next to you. GREAT JOB, LOGITECH!!!
