    Poor Sound Quality

I picked up the Logitech Z323 in order to replace a set of speakers I'd been using for the past decade, on which the connectors had become finicky. I was hoping that, given ten years of technological change, a small, inexpensive set of 2.1 speakers would perform just as well as a somewhat more expensive set I had purchased years earlier. The gamble didn't pay off. I'm not even a real audiophile, and I found the sound quality intolerable. These just didn't reproduce music, voice, or sound effects to anything near the accuracy of the old Altec Lansing speakers I was replacing. Everything sounded muffled or distorted, regardless of how I played with the controls. Ultimately I returned these, and after trying out the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1, which had their own issues, I eventually settled on the Logitech Z623. If you are looking for a set of 2.1 speakers you can use all the time, forget the Z323, and consider the Z623, which have much better sound quality.

bass-heavy even with subwoofer turned down

I suppose that these days speaker makers largely target the sort of people who put enormous subwoofers in their cars that make them rattle and are audible half a block away even with the car windows closed and listen to music that is a victim of the Loudness Wars... but if you want to actually listen to music, these are not the speakers for you. I'll be taking these back ASAP. I should also add that Best Buy--at least the Waterfront Best Buy in Munhall, PA--is not a good place to audition speakers. You have no way to select what you get to listen to, so no chance to bring in a favorite piece of music that you are familiar with. You'll find the speakers, and especially the subwoofers, cranked; turn them down--that's a standard trick of audio sales.

I have always had small speakers for my computer music because of space constraints, so I bought these originally for their size. Imagine my shock to find out how really good these speakers are! Songs I have listened to for years suddenly made sense because I could hear and understand the words, and since I talk a lot to my friends back East on Skype, it is great to not keep asking them to repeat things. I love these speakers! A huge Thank You to the salesperson who recommended them!

    I think I got a defective set

It is almost certain that mine are defective and I am returning them. They worked fine the first time I used them and horribly the second time: a horrible, grating distortion in one speaker when certain lower notes are played. I am also not fond of the fact that the speakers have no grill, making them vulnerable to accidental damage (though these were not damaged).

I purchased the Logitech Z323 Speaker Sys because I'd always enjoyed Logitech products. Now that I've used this system for a time the sound quality has diminished and I can barely hear anything even when the volume is maxed. Maybe I've missed something but the sound started out well. Over a few months it seems to have died.

My fault for trying to save money. The two speakers were decent but the Sub sounded awful and was distorted. Might have been something wrong with it. Have had other Logitech speakers in the past and they typically do well. You have to spend money if you want great sound for your computer.

I got this sound system and returned it. The sound quality sounded amazing in the store, but once it was hooked up to my computer it was awful! I tried adjusting it even updating my sound drivers, but there was no change.

After about a month of very light use in my office the subwoofer started making such horrible noise I had to shut it off. I don't have time to return and wouldn't have done this review if Best Buy hadn't sent me a reminder email. Don't buy this.

I had purchased a similar set of speakers, same brand a few years ago. So I purchased these because the others were fine. No way...returned them for store credit. These were a gift and how disappointing to realize they were so very bad.

    Irreplaceable Parts, Terrible Quality Cables

Fixed cheap aux cable, speaker buzz no matter what. Had my previous Logitech speakers exchanged for this model due to a similar issue and it's the same low-end quality with a different model number attached.

    NO CONTROLS

I bought my set over at Wally World but was really DISAPPOINTED to find out they had NO controls for treble and bass LIKE MY CHEAPY SPEAKERS HAVE. So, you better like a thumping bass because you won't be hearing any high notes.

Maybe it was just a lemon, but this was a disaster. It just wouldn't work. Was returned a couple of days after purchase. The sound was very low the first day, but the second day added a loud high pitch sound.

Could only hear distortion from the sub-woofer. Took it back and got something different didn't even give it a second chance cause I've had similar issues with older models.

When you set the volume to normal listening levels and turn off the sound on the computer, there is still an audible hum from the speakers. Very annoying.
