    Odd Execution

I checked out a few different desktop speakers in the store, and these were the only ones that met all of my need (decent power, vol adjustment for subwoofer, input jack and headphone jack). They sound decent enough, but still tend to be either too boomy or too hollow, and somehow both at the same time. But it'll suffice. The price was decent. The main problem with these is the odd execution of the volume knob for the sub, and one of the speaker connections. The knob for sub volume adjustment is on the back of the sub, making it awkward to change the volume of it, because typically you would have the sub placed out of the way. Mine is on the floor underneath my desk. The knob for this would ideally be on one of the satellite speakers. For whatever reason, the connection for the RH speaker (on the back of the sub) is a VGA cable style. Why on Earth is this necessary? The LH speaker is your standard RCA jack. I see no reason why both speakers wouldn't connect with RCA jacks. Once it's set up it's not really a big deal, but it's still an odd way of going about it. I've never seen a speaker system set up this way. Bluetooth connectivity would have been a nice touch, but there are inputs for an external source on the back of the sub, and a 3.5mm input jack on one of the satellite speakers.

Read a lot of reviews for this system before the purchase and more were flattering than not. I do not know what kind of sound those reviewers are accustomed to but I am disappointed with them. Trebel sounds too tinny, even after several adjustments on both the computer and the speakers,.....almost annoying. The subwoofer was reviewed as having a room-shaking effect....NOT. That being said, I was, after much adjustment, able to adjust the sound to a level that my Wife, who uses the system the most, is happy with. And NO I am NOT an audiophile snob who listens to high-end audio equipment. Next time though, I will buy separate components (speakers/amp/ sub-woofer). --Listening at LOW volume--for now--

I am on my second set of these speakers within MONTHS and now ready to return again. Thought the initial issue was just a fluke. Same thing happened to the second set. The system sounds great initially, then one speaker starts malfunctioning. All you hear is static or clicking sound. It's so annoying as you are trying to listen to music that you have to turn the volume way down to try and hide the disturbing static, etc. I will be returning these again and now going with another brand. Very disappointed.

a definite improvement over my laptops speakers, and the quality of construction seemed quite good as well. however, since these are speakers, what matters most is the sound. the bass is just ok, the volume is just ok, but the overall sound is very muddled. take a pair of average speakers, lay a blanket over them, and that's what these sound like. when you are in the store, listen to the insignia 3 piece set, the sound is much better, much more clean. I returned these and bought the insignia set and love them.

Frankly the sub is...subpar though that shouldn't be surprising for the price. If you can spare a little extra get a better Logitech speaker setup but if you just want some basic stereo sound and aren't worried about the lower register these are cheap and not bad looking. It is worth nothing that the wires are rather short. On a 4 ft desk I am stretching the packaged cables without an extension which is frankly a little surprising but it canm be worked around cheaply.

Cheap with "tin can" sound, woofer burns out.

You'll find that this is the same basic set up as the x240 series.Sold a couple of years ago and the Woofer just starts to hum louder and louder, destroying the sound. Just give it a year or so. Materials used are basic plastic. Set up is easy but the life span for the power supply is limited and just becomes a nusance for the humming later.

Bought a set because I thought the price was right and trusted the product brand would deliver. Took the first set home and installed easily. As soon as I tried turning up the bass, I got horrible rattle from the font of the bass speaker. Took the set back thinking maybe it was a defective unit, but the second one sounds exactly the same. Returning it today and going with something else.

I returned these, and actually found the sound to be a bit shallow. There is a set of Insignia speakers that are at a similar price point that throw a much better sound, and they have an independent remote. I'm not a fan of controlling the volume by knob on the satellite. I would definitely compare this to the Insignia NS-PSD5321 model. Better sound and features IMHO.

These sounded pretty good at the store and they sounded pretty good while I was sitting at my computer, but I don't sit at my computer while I listen to music. I use my computer as my radio, so I need good quality speakers and these just don't have the power I was looking for. I couldn't turn the volume up too much without the sound getting distorted.

I am so disappointed with this purchase as it was recommended by a Best Buy employee. I paid $50.00 plus tax and was purchased for a gift for my daughter. I was shocked when we put it together to test or listen. Sounded absolutely terrible and you could hardly hear the music even though volume was turned up all the way. Dont waste your money!

Installation was easy enough. For the price they were not bad speakers for the 3 minutes they worked for me. power supply crapped out after first use. I traded it in for JBL speakers and im glad i made the 10 extra dollar investment. From what i heard for the 3 minutes the speakers are not half bad, sub with it was god awe-full and ill leave it at that.

Nice design and price point but the quality of the sound from all three spkrs was not good. Distortion and scratchy sounds from satellites and overpowered bass sub/w made barnyard noises! Hopefully this was just a defective set as most Insignia products are reliable with OK sound.

Got this home and connected only to find out that the subwoofer sounds like it's already blown out. The standard speakers sound good so we just continue to use those and leave the woofer off

I am returning these to the store. These speakers have a horrible static noise. I have tried multiple wall outlets and tried different locations and the static is still there. I have been reading online forums and this seems to be a common issue. What a disappointment.

Where did the cracking noise come from?

    Posted

I had the speakers for 4 months and they worked and sounded great. Then the cracking noises started. The cracking noises would come and go ,eventually that was all I could hear. It was like the speakers were grounding out. Had to toss them in the trash.

I still own the Logitech X-220 32 watts 2.1 Speakers and they blow these away. The subwoofer on these is garbage compared to the old x-220's. For the price these are not worth it.
