A Lot Of Features And High Quality 2K Video

Lorex has a new pan-tilt dual lens security camera. It's case is made of plastic but is reasonably strong. The pan-tilt camera is capable of cover areas well. There is also a fixed camera. It is within the bottom half of the case. They are 2K capable and very sharp. The cameras are HDR capable as well. Lorex has an app for configuring the cameras. The app is easy to navigate and makes available options that you would expect for a security camera. App The app is simple to navigate. You can use it set notifications, motion/sound detection, camera settings, light settings, update firmware, view recordings, download recordings, take still photos, set motion zones, etc. I like the app. If found it to have a good layout and it makes accessing recordings and live feeds simple. Camera Both cameras produce a high quality 2K HDR image. You can change this to HD and turn off HDR in the app. The pan-tilt camera can move based on motion detection and, within the app, can be moved manually using a virtual joystick. It can also detect sound, pets, and people. I found that it does move to cover movement, but there are times when it moves toward motion, but seems to have a problem keeping the subject in motion in center of the image. It does keep the moving subject in view. Sometimes when it moves to a moving subject, it will make some adjustments even when the subject isn't moving in the frame. This can be addressed by a firmware update, so isn't a big deal to me especially that the subject does stay in frame. The motors of the pan-tilt camera make a sound. This is a problem since I wouldn't want some intruder to notice where the camera is located. I can hear the motors from up to about 20 feet away. If this was being used to just monitor a room such as monitoring for a pet, then it wouldn't matter, but as I intend this to be a security camera that would record someone who would break into my home, the motor noise presents a problem. Any intruder would be able to hear the motors and see where the camera is. This isn't something that can be fixed by a firmware update. Final Thoughts The camera looks good. The quality of the 2K video is good. The app is nicely developed and the features are really good. I would like to see Lorex address the motor noise issue in the next version of this. It is well made and the dual cameras were a good choice by Lorex. If you are looking for a good security or monitoring camera and the motor noise wouldn't be an issue for your use, then consider the Lorex 2K Dual Lens indoor pan-tilt camera as a possible option.

This is a very useful dual camera. Lorex provides high quality solid devices that always work correctly and intuitively., I have other Lorex cameras as well, but this little guy is different. This camera has a lower camera and an upper camera that can pan and tilt via a mechanical movement. I already had the Lorex app installed. I opened the app and plugged the camera in, then pointed my cell phone at the QR code on the camera. The camera was instantly recognized and the app led me through the complete install. You will only see 2.4 GHz networks to connect to. Once connected and you name the upper and lower cameras (and also give the device a name), you will be all set up in just a few minutes. This camera comes with the USB connector cable and the 120 volt adapter plug. It also includes screws and anchors if you want to attach the camera to a wall. However, I preferred to just sit the camera on a shelf since the camera has a flat bottom and this install gives you some portability if needed. The camera alerted me that a firmware update was available. The firmware update downloaded in a few minutes and installed perfectly. Many times, firmware updates for cameras, key entry locks and other small appliances will require several attempts to complete successfully. Lorex updates are solid and complete without any hiccups. I give the engineers at Lorex a tip of the cap for putting together great hardware and software. The displays on my phone of the camera videos are crystal clear. You can zoom and pan with your fingers on the cell phone screen. The upper camera can pan and tilt via a ‘joystick’ on the cell phone screen that works smoothly. You can use a view where one camera’s display is a small thumbnail inside the other camera’s display and switch them; or you can elect to see both cameras separately on your cell phone, which I prefer. The many features include auto-tracking, cloud storage (optional), a microphone with a call button to talk and speak, night view, 360-degree view, local storage via a micro SD card (that is included) and more. The camera also sends an alert if it recognizes a person/pet in the view – nice. My house is one story about 60 feet long and 30 feet wide. I had the camera at one diagonal and stood with my phone at the other diagonal and could operate the pan/tilt feature as well as see the videos very clearly – great. In fact I could view and operate the dual cameras from my backyard, so the WiFi connectivity of the camera is super. I am enjoying this device with the dual camera design. It is fun and helpful to keep track of pets or just keep an eye on your computer room for example. I would highly recommend this innovative, very functional and well-designed little wonder.

This Lorex Dual Lens Indoor Pan/Tilt and Fixed Camera is unique because it offers two cameras, one fixed and the other Pan/Tilt. It is fully configurable using the Lorex software that you download to your cell phone. The software takes you through the process of connecting your camera to your home Wi-Fi network. Once connected you can then work with the camera via your cell phone or if you have Alexa you can enable it with the Lorex Home Skill which allows you to control your camera via Alexa. The camera comes with a preinstalled 32 GB SD card which stores the videos captured. There is an option to add cloud storage for a fee. The software allows you to do all sorts of configurations for motion detection, sound detection, etc. The camera also has a call button on it. I suspect the user scenario of the call button is if you are monitoring a person who might need to contact you. You have the option to use one or both cameras depending on your surveillance needs. I put the camera on our piano which is along the wall so that I could see the entire room with the fixed camera. The pan and tilt camera has motion detection so if someone came up to and played the piano the camera would tilt down and show the person playing the piano. The camera comes with a mount so that the camera could be mounted to a ceiling. I have found that the camera is very capable of supporting a wide range of surveillance scenarios.

    Nice Indoor Pan-Tilt Security Camera

The Lorex - 2K Dual Lens Indoor Pan-Tilt Wi-Fi Security Camera provides great options for security and recording in your home. I primarily set this up to keep an eye on my pets, but it will also give me the ability to see if anything else is going on in my home. After setting this up and using it, following are my observations: - Inside the box was the camera, a USB power cable and power adaptor, a 32 GB MicroSD card, a quick start guide, and a mounting bracket, anchors and screws. The camera can be set on a shelf or flat surface, or mounted on a wall using the included hardware. - The camera was easy to set up. Just download the Lorex App, scan the QR code on the bottom of the device to connect the device to your App and the App will guide you through set up and allow you to explore settings to customize for your use. - This Lorex camera has dual lenses, with 2K resolution. This allows you to have a fixed lower camera pointed on your room, and an upper camera that pans and tilts to provide a 360 degree view. The upper camera allows you to set it up to detect, track and follow people and/or pets moving in view of the lens, or just manually move that camera around while in live view, while still having the lower camera fixed on your room. This is a nice feature and allows you to see more than one area in your room or home at a time. - You can also digitally zoom the camera in and out. The camera also has infrared night vision. The picture and video quality is great on this camera. - This camera comes with a MicroSD storage card to store videos locally, or you can also subscribe to a Lorex Cloud Storage Plan. I love the fact it has a local storage option. It's nice to be able to see videos of what my pets have been up to during the day, or any other motion events that trigger the camera. I don't need to save these videos for a long time, so the local storage card option works great for me. Local storage is also a good option for security and privacy. - There is a privacy mode that moves the camera and stops recording. - The camera has a light ring around the bottom that you can set with different colors and use it for a night light, or just have it set to light up when movement or noise is detected. - The camera has a two way talk feature so you can hear what is going on in the room and also talk through the speaker. You can use it to talk to pets or anyone in the room. It also has a call button on the camera, so a child or other person can push that button to communicate to you. - You can share the camera so multiple people in the household can view it via the App. This is a great indoor security camera! Works very well for monitoring pets or kids or any other activities in your home. The local storage option, 360 degree view, and auto tracking of people and/or pets are some of my favorite features. I'd highly recommend this security camera!

This smart security camera is well in a nutshell awsome. In the past i got a camera for my back yard a different brand that had some of the same options, onboard storage or cloud storage and when i had seen this in the description i was a little leary about getting it. I say that because with the other brand i set it up and it was recording sending me notifications like this one does. But one day i stopped getting the notifications and could not figure out why at first. Well come to find out when you set up the other brand you only get a 30 day trial and after that 30 days you had to pay to use the system at all. Now the Lorex system is not that way. This has two opetions. It comes with a memory card already installed in the camera and it records to the memory card, FREE of charge and to what is see no 30 days and cuts off unless you pay. You do have a choise to go to the website and you can pay a $ 3 monthly charge to save your recordings to there website if you so please. So far this system is a win win in my book. So out of the box it was super easy to set up. You scan the qr code on the bottom of the unit and it takes you to a downlaod page so for apple the app store. It walk you through the setup and making an account, very easy. Once done there it will show you what to click and how to work the camera. It does ask you a few questions like were are you setting it up at IE livingroom kitchen and so on. Are you mounting it on the ceiling and its basicly for camera oreintation. You can go into the settings and turn on motion and sound detection. So i have 2 cats and 2 dogs so i can set how high the camera will detect before it starts recording or sound you can set the decible to how loud the sound has to be before it starts recording. The stock settings for the quality of the video is set at standard but you can take it up to 2K but i would think that will chew up your hard drive space pretty quick, so i set mine to 720p and that seemed to be pretty good. So far im very happy with the quality of the recordings and just the overall quality of the system itself. Ease of setup and no hidden gotcha charges are 2 things in my book that make or break a quality experience and this checks both boxes among all the other bells and whistles this camera has its an easy yes you should buy recomendation.

I know Lorex has been in the surveillance business for a while, especially with their DVR based cameras. I didn’t expect them to come up with such a simple, easy, yet very effective standalone indoor camera. And it’s not just a regular camera—it’s a dual indoor camera with a lot of features. Unboxing and set up was very simple. It was almost plug and play. Plug the camera in, get the app and set it up. This is as simple as 1-2-3 to get it running. The form factor is very familiar, but it actually incorporates two cameras. It gave me the option to install inverted, such as a ceiling placement, but it was only going on my kitchen counter. Now the two cameras come in very handy because I have an open floor plan. Static stays front, 360 moving camera monitors the back. So placing the camera at the kitchen counter covers 80% of my living space, because the static camera focuses on the dining area, and hallway leading to all the rooms, while the panning camera focuses on my kitchen which is separated by two entrance doors on either end. Just with that, this is already a great camera in itself—but this is only part of what it really does. The app has so many customizations, you can actually get lost tinkering with the options. I will not even mention obvious things, like video quality (which is really good, especially the 2K) or audio volume and sirens. I won’t even dive into the basic functions like manually triggering record, or snapshots or night vision, or talking to the other person on camera, and canned responses. (By the way, there is a talk button on the camera—so easy for the woman of the house to call me and reel me in when food is ready!) So yes, video is great, audio is great. Almost every other camera has it. The real hero of the app is the well thought-out customizations for my specific use. 1) Presets. The camera can be set up to have specific position. The preset helps place the 360 camera facing a specific area. As my 360 cam is facing the kitchen, my preset is placed on one end of the door where it is more busy. Now I check the kitchen every so often, using the very responsive app d-pad, so my focus changes after use. But the preset brings the moving camera back to where I need the monitoring to be. 2) Option for tracking. The 360 cam has a movement tracker. Someone enters my door by the kitchen, walks through and exits the other door. The camera simply follows that movement, from left to right. Captures them, then goes back to my preset after chasing the activity. 3) Detection. It detects motion easily, and of course, the availability to adjust sensitivity. The specific zones. It also detects sound. This is very helpful because I set a “trap” for the kids when they go to the treats cabinet (or “the cookie jar”). It doesn’t have to keep notifying me of who’s there and when. I’m not a jail guard. But it can tell me who took snacks out of turn. So motion or sound, the 360 camera can follow where that is detected. 4) Now, on top of these detections, there is custom lighting. The camera is on default green color light for me. I wish I can turn it off, but I can’t. It is an indicator to tell that the camera in currently on. It’s not obnoxious. I just do not want the household to have a feeling of being dodgy just because there is a camera. I have schedules for it. Green on weekdays and Blue on weekends. When it detects a person, it turns yellow. When it detects an animal, it can change too. But we don’t have a pet. So it only turns yellow (by choice) when there is a person. You can mix and match with other colors. Set brightness levels. Even set modes, like party mode where the RGB colors cycle and you can choose to make it flashing/ solid --or panic mode where it flashes orange. 5) Storage and recording is easy. It stores data locally through the 32GB SD card, that it came with, but of course, I will replace it with a bigger one. The interface is so easy—it categorizes which type or detection, or recording is saved, and organized by an easy to understand calendar scrolling menu. There are so many other options in the app like closing the privacy shutter (yes it has one!) or displaying how you want to view your camera such as picture-in-picture or split monitor. Then eventually, if I add more cameras, I can arrange them in tiles. Google Assistant recognizes them too— the cameras individually! So I placed them in “separate rooms” even though the camera is situated in the big common place. Now Google Home has it lined up there and I can see them by voice command to a nest display or by button tap on the Google Home app screen, including the sirens which I can trigger. Location detection is available too, though I haven’t used it—so I can have specific monitoring rules when I am home or away. Oh lastly, I was able to run the camera on a 20000mah portable battery, since the camera is powered by USBs on a socket. The battery drain is roughly 15 minutes to a percent of battery, roughly lasting one whole day. This gives me ideas on how I can reposition “wirelessly” it when I need to on certain days. Again, this camera has so much bells, I think I even shortened some of the things I had to say about it or I might go on forever. This is definitely my newest favorite—I might have to switch my other cameras to Lorex… 😊

Video and picture quality is good. I like the camera because it is very good at detecting human and sending alert. Also, I can pan the camera to view the whole room. One other feature I find useful is the privacy option, once you enable it in the app, it will hide the main camera lens and stop all recording. It will be more convenient if it can be enabled via a button on the unit itself or via some special hand gesture you can programmed. Installing is very easy, download the app, run the app, the app will guide you with step-by-step instruction. The app will first prompt you to power up the camera and ask you to wait for the green LED band to begin flashing, once that occur, press next and it will prompt you for other info such as wifi password etc. It does seem to require you to sign up for an account before you can proceed. I have no issue getting the camera setup and ready to use. It provides two installation options, right side up mount or ceiling mount option, meaning mounting it upside down. The unit has two cameras, the one on top allows PTZ, giving you 360-degree view. The camera at the bottom is fixed but allows user to manually adjust the tilt angle. 32GB MicroSD card is included but no instruction on how to replace it. I had to go on their FAQ website to learned that the card slot as well as the reset button is assessable when you point the main lens upward. The camera is able to detect person and pets and auto tracking your pet or person's movement. It has a button to start a two way talk with the person that has the app installed on the phone. The base has a colorful LED band, can light up providing some ambient light which is very cool. While using the app, I can initiate snapshot to be taken or video to be recorded but I don't know how to view the taken snapshots or videos. It is not battery powered so must be connected to wall outlet. It does come with usb power adapter. The siren is not very loud so don't count on it to scare away buglers.

The Lorex 2K dual lens indoor pan and tilt camera is an odd looking beast; its two stacked lenses look a bit like a flattened egg. But the unique design is quite handy. Setup is very simple, although I had to reconnect to the camera’s setup network manually to complete the task. You create a Lorex account (or log into your existing one) and scan the QR code on the bottom of the camera. The setup wizard asks you about your WIFI access and whether you’ll be mounting the device from the ceiling, and if you want to use the optional Lorex cloud storage. That’s pretty much it. The unit itself contains two lenses, a fixed one on the bottom and a pivoting lens on top. Both lenses deliver clear, well-lighted images. As a 2K camera, there is some zoom pixelation when compared to a 4K camera. For indoor use, however, there is really not a lot I want to zoom in on, so 2K is perfectly acceptable. The Lorez has a lot of great features. There’s a button the camera to initiate conversations with the app, and this communication works even with the [person using the app is not at home. The image delivery and audio communication is near instantaneous, a welcome contrast to some cameras I have from other vendors. Recognition of people and animals is consistent and accurate, and the ability to automatically track movement across the field of vision. Overall, this is a great camera for indoor use. I’d highly recommend it.

I have used Lorex cameras for past few years and am familiar with them. I have their Fusion NVR and I have their indoor pan and tilt camera. I wanted to state this, as despite my familiarity with the system and Lorex cloud app, I found it hard to use this camera effectively for any of my use case. There are two cameras, both records in 2K, HDR. The one in top can pan and tilt all the way around. The one in the bottom is more or less fixed, there is a little manual movement one can do and that is what made placing it difficult for me. In one use case, the camera will sit on a shelve mounted high on the wall and look down. The lower one towards the main door and the upper one towards a room. The upper one does the job exactly as I expect. The lower one though cannot really get the angle right no matter where I point it. This limitation of vertical movement renders the lower cam only useful for some very specific tasks. I may probably re-purpose it as a kid room camera, where the upper one follows the kid around while the lower one is fix on the bed, but I am sure I will hit the issue because of restricted motion. I would love to see a future where there is more vertical movement or the FOV is broader. I am guessing a kid room is perhaps a better use case to solve with this camera, or a place where it is not set up very high or low and you need two different angles. The multi color light and the call button seems to indicate that as well. Apart from that, general setup was fine, the light for some reason is on by default and the app does not have a one tap switch to turn it off. I had to create a rule for every day and disable the light, too much to do to turn off the light. (If someone from Lorex reads it and knows an option to disable it, please post about it). The cameras in itself are fine it is just that it is not a very accommodating dual lens setup. Make sure a device like this will work for your use case. If not, I will recommend buying the Lorex indoor pan and tilt single lens camera.

I grabbed the lorex to keep an eye on the dog when we're not at home or whenever she decides to retreat to her favorite room. Works perfectly for that. The main gimmick here is that this is actually two cameras here, one with a fixed view and another that has remote controls via an app. I don't really need this for my own purposes, but if you wanted to place the camera more centrally you could have the fixed camera covering one direction all the time and then rotate the movable camera to ... whatever. It's definitely a useful feature, but how does it all pan out? Well the lorex dual lens is pretty great actually. The build quality seems solid without being overly bulky, but this is a fairly large device for a wifi connected camera. You'll have to take that into consideration for placement/mounting. The included cable is quite long which can help with cable routing, but mine sits on a shelf so there's a lot of bundled up cable just kind of lying there ... bummer for me. the video quality is excellent on both cameras, no complaints there. the audio quality is not terrific, but standard for these kinds of products. Performance-wise I have no complaints with the camera, however I do have an issue with the app. It's slow. Changing the direction of the camera is accomplished by way of pressing four buttons (cardinal directions) which works, but it's not great. You can tap and hold a direction to move the camera, but because of the video delay doing this makes it almost impossible get it just right. You're better off tapping a direction once which moves the camera in discrete stops. You can rapidly tap to move the camera to your desired position, and it's actually faster somehow than tapping and holding - probably because that method is so slapdash. Overall this is a really solid camera. Great performance, hampered somewhat by an underdeveloped app. The included memory card is nice. Yeah it's good.

This camera is incredible. The stationary camera paired with a PTZ camera give it versatility I didn't realize would be that handy. You can continuously monitor one location while using the PTZ to view other areas simultaneously. Switching between the two cameras is easy as you have a PIP view of both and can click to swap the main view to the camera you need. My main concern with the camera was whether the delay between capturing data and view would have big impact. There is some noticeable lag, but it's about 1s difference. So it's not too worrisome. One big feature I love about the camera is local storage. You don't have to subscribe to any service to use the camera. You can even view locally stored video while away. I tested it with the camera on my home wifi while I was on cell and I didn't have any problems connecting, viewing, or controlling the camera. The video is nice a crisp. I've had a few 2k cams the didn't do so great, but this Lorex comes out very clear. There are a few option that could be useful but I haven't needed them yet. The camera can follow a person or pet if it detects them in view. I'd rather keep them steady until I want to move the PTZ, but that opinion could change later. One neat feature is a noise alarm. It if detects a sound at a certain decible it'll send an alarm. Great for quite rooms, but not so useful with rooms with window ACs or noisy fans. There doesn't seem any Blue Iris support, or I haven't gotten it to work in the short time I got to play with BI at work. Not a big issue, but helpful if you're goal is to consolidate all your cameras into one interface. Overall it's a terrific security camera. If somehow they can implement Blue Iris support I'd swap out the cameras at work with these.
