Not knowing anything about video doorbells other than hearing about a few from friends - this is a great product! Great price point and simple installation!
Out of the box read thru the installation booklet, made sure all parts were in box, turned off power to area and off we went. We used one of the mounting plates/brackets to angle it for best view. Simply replaced our existing doorbell and it took less that 15 minutes. I downloaded the app, scanned the QR code from the product, it was simple and walked me thru setup and set up wifi settings easily. You have a choice for doorbell chime, either electronic or mechanical, we have the old fashioned mechanical one and the only challenge we had was getting the chime kit to fit inside the doorbell box and had to mount it on the outside - no biggie, looks fine there.
Once we established the doorbell worked, chime played, we tested out many video settings and sensitivity setting for a few days. I placed it on the High (2x1080p HD) setting for best view, and turned on the HDR mode because it is on our front porch that has a sensor porch light that is pretty bright - as this optimizes the video picture. I adjusted the sound settings so that it isn't too loud but clear voice was recognizable.
The only thing I have had to play around with were sensitivity settings to pick up things like, package delivery, mail delivery, paper delivery, and unfortunately idiots driving too fast down our street! Initially I had a high setting and it was picking up bugs flying by and branches blowing. I changed the motion detection settings and personalized the motion zones which helped with those issues. Because we have a dusk to dawn porch light, I turned off the Night Light Mode as it was overkill on the lighting.
The video clarity is amazing and it allows you to zoom in on the video, take snippet pictures and videos of portions of the captured video. I also appreciate that there is no monthly fee and all storage is on the SD card that inside the doorbell.
Absolutely would recommend this product!! Very please with all aspects.

one of the best buys I have done in 2021. It retains the video for days without monthly payments. I have not had any problems since it was set up in july 2021. I have poor wi fi in my area, so I decided to go for a wired hd door bell. you can set up your alerts. I watched the youtube before I decided to buy it.

This was a great little camera. it's on the Governments blacklist of products which I didn't know prior to purchase and was surprised to see Best Buy still selling.
Beyond that, the wireless feature connecting to my DVR is great, the software however can use a major boost and improvement to the stream and lag. With today's Wi-Fi ability, it should maintain greater quality for streaming over time. Unfortunately I find it constantly disconnecting through rstp feeds which are used for compatibility between products.

Lorex 2k QHD
There’s no such thing as being ‘too cautious’. Knowing when an important package arrives, when your food delivery is at the front door, or just knowing who exactly is at your front door are extremely important these days. I’ve had a smart doorbell for the best couple of years. It was good but not great. I decided to upgrade to the Lorex 2k QHD smart doorbell and I didn’t think this level of accuracy and customization was possible.
Installing:
The Lorex 2K isn’t overwhelming when you open the box. There are the install screws and a drill bit. It’s not a bunch of pieces that might have some feeling hesitant about installing the doorbell. All you need is a drill and a screwdriver. The Lorex comes with two mounting brackets that allow for better viewing angles depending on the location of the Lorex doorbell. Follow the instructions thoroughly and your doorbell will be up and running in no time. It took me 20 minutes. Once installed, you download the Lorex Home app and you’re on your way to utilizing the doorbell security. It also comes with a Chime kit that allows for customized doorbell notifications but since I was content with my existing doorbell sounds, I didn’t install the Chime kit.
The Lorex 2K Advantage:
My front porch is narrow and because of it being narrow, my previous smart doorbell wouldn’t alert me each time there was someone at the front door until the doorbell was pressed. The Lorex 2K has a 164-degree view that provides a wider range of detection all before the doorbell is rung. This is beneficial in case someone approaches the front door whether it be a solicitor, a package delivery, or a stranger contemplating taking an already delivered package.
And when someone is actually at the doorbell, I can see their ENTIRE body and FACE whereas my previous doorbell camera only showed below the shoulders if the person was anything taller than 5’5” because of the narrowness of the porch. Also, when someone is at the doorbell, the Lorex will take a snapshot of that person whether or not they have pressed the button. Not only is there a snapshot but there’s also a short recording of the event that activated the notification. My previous video doorbell was sloppy in its recording of notification events.
There’s a two-way speaker for those times where you might not be able to get to the door immediately. I tested the speaker several times and there’s almost no lag when communicating with the person standing at the Lorex doorbell. The audio quality is clear and responsive! It’s far better than what I had been accustomed to with my previous doorbell camera. The app allows for Quick Responses such as “Please leave the package at the door” or you can record your response(s).
There’s a Timeline feature via the app and it allows you to review ‘events’ that your Lorex notated or your can review the timeline recording that might have picked up activity that occurred beyond the immediate range of the Lorex doorbell camera. This could be useful for something that might’ve happened in your neighborhood and any sort of surveillance footage might help. Keep in mind that the access to the Timeline will be limited meaning that you won’t be able to access footage that was three months ago because the recording will eventually loop and record over old footage. However, you can easily go into the app and save footage that you may feel is important and saved it to your device.
Sensitivity:
The Lorex 2K allows the user to customize the motion detection settings with great detail so that you are not being alerted whenever someone might be walking on the sidewalk. My previous doorbell camera would alert me often whenever I was mowing the front lawn. Each time I passed the vicinity of the camera, my phone was filled with ‘someone is at the front door’. I tested the Lorex and I wasn’t bombarded with notifications. Now, if I wanted to, I could go into the app settings and increase the sensitivity but I am very pleased with the default settings.
If there’s a package on your front porch then Lorex will let you know via the app. It’s pretty amazing to see this level of recognition with a doorbell camera. The app also allows the user to pinch and ‘zoom’ in on a person or object if you feel the need to. Keep in mind, there are limits to zooming before the image becomes distorted in clarity.
No Hidden Fees:
Another fantastic feature of this Lorex doorbell camera is that there are no subscription fees for the user to access old videos. The doorbell comes with a pre-inserted micro-SD memory card (30 Gig), this bypasses the need for those cloud storage subscription fees that some other video doorbells will try to sell the user. You can install a larger sized micro-SD card if you should desire.
Closing:
There are a BUNCH of other cool features and customizations that I haven’t mentioned because this review would become a novel. Keep in mind that all of the said features are easy to access via the Lorex Home app and do not require the user to have extensive knowledge of in-app navigation.
I am impressed with what the Lorex 2K offers and how the doorbell camera performs. I am extremely happy that I decided to upgrade and only wish that the Lorex 2K had existed sooner.

Lorex - 2K QHD Wired Video Doorbell With Person Detection
The installation of the doorbell took about 20 minutes. It would have been faster but the house builder back in the 70’s made every penny count, so there was no extra wire in the cement block. That made me have to go to the 2nd installation detail and use the extension leads they supply. I was please with the leads and the wire nuts. They looked cheap but when I used them with the 1 stranded wire and the 1 solid wire they screwed on tight, good quality wire nuts. I used the tilt up backing plate. I would really liked to have been able to use the tilt up and the turn plate. My existing doorbell was installed low on the side of the house and very close to the door. This was done well before cameras were ever though about. I would like to see them add and angled up/down with turn available to be added. As is stands I have a full view of the door but not of the patio where someone could stand. This is by no means a negative on Lorex, just a request for them to add another mounting option. In step 8 of the instructions, they say to loop the wire around the screws. The diagram has the wire wrapping the wrong way, the way it’s shown will force the wire to come off the screw when you tighten it. They also show you turning the screwdriver the wrong way. If you are a complete novice at things like this it will mess you up. I used the extension wires so this step didn’t apply to me. From there on out everything went as it should. I had to reread a few spots in the software setup because you hit the “Next” button and the screen looks the same, but the instructions are different. So make sure you slowly read the instructions, don’t just look at the pictures.
For software there are IOS and Android versions. The Android version has a small issue with the menus and text sizes. I have my text set just a small amount larger than normal, you honestly wouldn’t notice it unless you had 2 phones next to each other. However in the settings menu, and any menu for that matter, text boxes and what they say will be over the function their supposed to handle. In my case since it’s such a small amount I can make out and even click the button under the offending text box. On IOS this is not an issue, Text boxes seem to resize accordingly. I set the doorbell up using my Android phone. I then added my wife on her iPhone. I gave her full permissions to everything. Even with that setting I am the only one who can clear recordings. Even after I clear them they still show up on the IOS phone, just with a Lorex thumbnail. If you click on the now incorrect thumbnail it plays the correct video, even though I deleted it. So someplace along the way, when I delete a saved video, it stays on the card and is no longer available to the Android phone, but still available on the IOS phone. Lorex needs to do a little work on their APP, this is evident from the 2 starts it gets in both IOS and Android APP stores. The APP does work, do not read into this that it doesn’t, it does. It sends notifications as requested, you can talk to the person at the door, you can turn the light on and off as you wish, just they seem to have missed some interface details. Believe me, I would rather have some interface mistakes than an APP that doesn’t work at all. After reading other comments about other doorbells I believe Lorex has a good thing going with this one. Video is clear, day or night. Audio is usable but lags a little. This is completely normal with Video/Audio security cameras. Because of our area I have many security cameras around my house. We live in a good neighborhood that backs up against a not so good one. The Doorbell comes with a 32 gig WD Purple micro SD card already installed. It includes the chime adapter kit for the mechanical chimes, like mine. It requires only an account with Lorex to function, NO DATA PLAN REQUIRED. They don’t ask for a credit card and don’t even try to sell you one. Good job Lorex! The APP sends notifications that you select, and if you know what it was, like walking past the Doorbell you can clear them without even opening the APP. The IOS APP opens fast, the Android APP is a little slower. Both of them have security options if you want them. Overall this is exactly what I was looking for in a video Doorbell. Hopefully Lorex will improve the APP functions and clear up the very minor issues. Even if they don’t, this is working and you don’t have to pay some company every month just to use it. I would recommend this to anyone who needs an economical solution with quality options.

Lorex Wired 2K Video Doorbell
Included- The video doorbell, USB cable, local storage on a microSD card, mounting wedges, mounting base, chime kit, anchors and screws, wires and backup cable, drill bit and quick start guide.
To get started- Download the Lorex Home app and set up an account. There are installation videos and in app instructions available. The installation of the chime kit, mounting brackets and video doorbell were very easy. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. It didn't take long to install.
The Lorex Video Doorbell is very customizable and the app makes it very easy to adjust your settings. There is motion detection and person detection. You can have have the doorbell record video and send notifications when motion and/or a person is detected. There are multiple sensitivity levels for each. The options for the light settings are also impressive. There is a night light, that can be set for certain times of day, the brightness can be adjusted, and there is even a deterrence light mode that can flash or be solid and the LED colors can be either red, blue or green.
The picture quality is impressive, whether it's night or day. Even without our porch lights on, you can clearly see the person who is at the door at nighttime in the dark. The video quality can be set at low (480p), medium (1080HD) or high (2x1080HD).
There are also sound settings. You can choose the volume of the siren and the Two-Way Talk volume. The Lorex allows you to speak to the person outside at the door and have a full conversation. It also provides 3 quick doorbell responses you can use- "We'll be right there. Please leave the package at the door. And-nobody can come to the door right now." Or could you also set up your own personal custom response.
I am very impressed with the Lorex Wired 2K Video Doorbell. There isn't anything that I can think of that this doorbell does not have. The endless setting options it offers is exceptional. You can truly personalize it for your needs. It's perfect that it does not charge any monthly fees for any of the extra features. It is all included, even the video storage. This makes it the best video doorbell out there.

Amazing Quality Video Doorbell Raises the Bar

The Lorex - 2K QHD Wired Video Doorbell With Person Detection is a stunning piece of technology. Prior to connecting it, I used NEST Hello Doorbell. The Lorex 2K QHD offers substantially greater video quality than NEST Hello. Everything is included for a quick & easy installation. Amazon Echo Show (Alexa) can immediately access the doorbell.
A MicroSD card is included for local video recording. This offers the best of both worlds: You have immediate access to the camera from your cellphone or Alexa. And it stores video internally, so no monthly monitoring charge is due (you can even set what areas of the camera to watch for movement). Without the monthly monitoring charge, the operating cost is far less than NEST HELLO or RING PRO; you only pay for the initial purchase price, which is very reasonable.
This Doorbell even offers a motion-activated LED that can be activated when it detects a person. There is a Lorex Home app that alerts you when the camera senses motion.
CONCLUSION:
Lorex - 2K QHD Wired Video Doorbell is one awesome Video Camera - it even offers HDR Imaging - for your doorbell. It is easy to install, offers beautiful day & night video. This is the Top-of-the-Line Video Doorbell available today.

It seems that video doorbells are extremely popular devices nowadays (and yes, we've had one for many years ourselves), for personal security as well as property security (with the seemingly increased volume of package deliveries, and unfortunately, package thefts). But, almost all have a cost involved with viewing and storing the videos (in their cloud). The Lorex 2K QHD Wired Video Doorbell provides a solution to removing that expense by having a microSD card slot to record directly to. This model comes with a 32GB WD brand microSD car (which seems to be enough space to keep around 6 weeks of video before it starts overwriting the older, non-protected video files, but it supports up to 256GB).
Looking at the design, it simple white face, with the camera at the top and a decently-sized square-ish doorbell button neat the bottom. It doesn't have the darker, "brushed bronze" that our previous video doorbell, but it isn't bad. When pressing the doorbell button, it plays an "old chime" doorbell sound (at least it is a doorbell related sound compared to some video doorbells). There is a light at the bottom that will turn on when motion is detected, which can also be set as an always on night light. We have all light settings turned off as our front porch is brightly-lit all night.
The installation is fairly easy, but you will need to connect the USB cable first to get everything set up with the Lorex Home app (which is very easy to do). Keep in mind that this is not battery powered, so it does require the existing doorbell wiring. One nice thing they do include is vertical and horizontal angling brackets, in case you do not have flat surface or a direct view of the area you want to view. It does include the right-sized drill bit, along with screws and anchors.
Video quality is great! (just be sure to tap [SD] in the settings at the bottom of the video to change to [HD] to get the best quality…) The 2K resolution is at 2560x1920, which compared to our previous doorbell at 1280x720 is such a great improvement. And the 4:3 ratio is much better suited than 16:9 for doorbell video for showing more detail. And with enabling HDR, it definitely helps our situation of a deeper porch with a lot of brightness across the street (we can actually now see who is at the door during the day!). With our lit porch, nighttime quality is still very good.
The Lorex Home app used for viewing and configuring the doorbell is pretty good. There are many different settings to configure. The Motion Zones settings, for General and Person, are set up in different ways. For General, you can select blocks of the viewable area you want to be included. This has been nice as it has reduced the street traffic triggering the notifications to none. For Person, you'll adjust 6-point polygon to cover the are you wanting to detect. When viewing the Timeline history, it is nice that you pinch-zoom the time bar to make it easier to get to a different time during the day, but when you enter the Timeline, it will start at the beginning of the day, instead of the current time, which can be a bit of hassle if you are quickly trying to view what just was detected. For wireless network connection, the doorbell support 5GHz Wireless-AC as well as 2.4GHz Wireless-N (but N may still be recommended for a more reliable connection unless the wireless router is very close to the doorbell).
One thing about the Lorex Home app that I wish was there is that there is no tablet/landscape mode, at least not until viewing the video in full screen (which I have for some other security video camera apps). Also, at first I was a little worried as there seemed to be a 6-second round trip conversation delay, but latest live interactions has been only about 2 seconds (1 second to, 1 second back). And with the Android notification, it does send an image, but it is too small to really see who it is. At least my old doorbell app had added a larger image to quickly view, which was a nice feature. One last thing is that you will basically need to set up a Lorex Home account for everyone in your family that will be using the app. We've had the old doorbell app on all of our phones for times when we were not there when the kids were. The Lorex Home app will pop up a message if that account is logged in on another device, then will log you out on the current device you are using.
The doorbell can be connected to your Google Assistant or Alexa accounts. I was able to bring up the video feed on my Fire TV as well as a Google Assistant-based smart clock.
This is definitely a very nice video doorbell system, and for us, a great upgrade from our previous one!

Now this makes sense to me - a company that has established itself as a security camera maker adding technology to their products. Not that there's anything wrong with technology manufacturers getting into the camera business, but for being my first foray into consumer Lorex products, this one is ticking a lot of boxes. 2k is a decent camera resolution that lets you see faces and identify larger things that might be more distant from your door, like familiar cars. Definitely an improvement over 1080. I wasn't jazzed about having to download another app, but that's part of the gig these days. I also was seeking the google assistant integration, which I will be digging more into soon. Having this doorbell means it might be time for a google assistant with a screen. the app works well and lets you customize alerts and control the nightlight and the status indicator ring on the doorbell itself. Both of these are next-level features in my opinion.
Lorex did a good job of structuring the way this camera works, storing the video clips locally but being able to access them remotely, and not require a subscription fee. This is what I was seeking in a doorbell camera. As always make sure you are familiar with the differences between the wired and wireless cameras before you buy, but these days most manufacturers make the same/similar cameras in both versions. I'm digging the wired aspects of this one so that the camera/doorbell itself can be smaller and I don't have to worry about charging batteries.
Overall - this camera could do a little more in the looks department, but for function and features it's killing it. This would be near the top of my list for anyone seeking: more than 1080p, wired, motion-detecting with alerts, and to not pay an additional subscription fee.

A Beautiful Doorbell Replacement

The Lorex 2K Wired QHD Video Doorbell With Person detection arrived in a nicely designed box that made a statement about the qulity of what was inside. The video doorbell was very nice indeed - great to look at and a compliment to our house!
Having installed a video doorbell on our previous house, I pretty much knew there would be some work involved to make it fit in the space the old doorbell would leave behind. The old space was quite a bit bigger than the Lorex would need. So I built a backplate that would cover up the excess space out of plastic electrical plate covers so it would look nice.
Once the hole cover was done, it was time to disconnect the old doorbell and connect the new Lorex. Once the wiring ws reconnected and the lorex installed, I was disappointed that the Lorex was not lighting up and doing its thing. Pushing the doorbell button produced nothing. The old doorbell was an AIPhone brand with three intercom-ring stations inside and outside the house. The AIPhone was powered by two electrical wires, just as the Lorex required.
I disconnected the Lorex and reconnected the old doorbell which imedicately lit up and rang. So it wasn't a lack of power. I decided to leave the old doorbell in place for now hoping I would later find a solution.
My overall impression of the Lorex video doorbell is quite favorable compared to my prior experience with a competetive product. The Lorex is nicely designed, well-built, should be easy to install and last for many years.
I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great video doorbell.

I was a bit intimidated by the thought of the installation. I am by no means an electrician. But, it really was simple enough as laid out in the directions. Being extra careful, it took a good portion of the morning, but better safe than sorry.
So, I love this doorbell for several reasons. Mainly, the little features. The 180 field of view is great. It's nice to see a wider angle in the event the subject is out of direct view or if there are multiple subjects.
The 2k quality/HDR is now a must have. No more "blurry Bigfoot photos." Unfortunately, crime is on the rise in my neighborhood, and catching faces and plates is starting to become a necessity. No problem there.
Upon install, I immediately placed a large storage card in the SD slot. More space, more footage. And I like to have my sensors on high with plenty of captured footage. I prefer having plenty of local storage vs having to pay a subscription fee for off-site recording. Having NO fees for premium features is also a major plus.
The night vision is pretty good. I can easily distinguish between a visitor or a critter scurrying out front.
There's a warning light that serves not so much for inside, but aides at night when approaching the door if ambient lighting is sparse. Nice little extra.
Lastly, the two way/ recorded audio is good quality. Definitely loud enough to hear, even with background noise. Same with the two way communication.
Great doorbell worth every penny. Definitely would recommend
