Monster Hunter with guns...

Lost Planet 2 (LP2), is a decent shooter that immerses you in intense battles situations against both human and biological threats. These battles are best handled with at least 1 live partner because the game when played alone is harder than a turtle's shell. The A.I. is absolutely useless in important situations. Another downside is that the controls are a little stiff especially in the mechs. The campaign mode is lenghty...and that's a good thing. Just make sure. like i said, you have some live players.
Multiplayer is fun as well. It's no Modern Warfare, but it is still fun. I like it because of the third person view instead of first person, ala Metal Gear's, and Drakes multiplayer. They have the usual deathmatch, team deatmatch, capture the flag-ish types, etc. Bottom line the game is centered around co-op play, so if u dont mind playing with others online then pick this up. Tell ur best bud 2 get it so at least you have that very important live player. If you choose to go it alone you will be in for a long, long night.

Im not much a of third person shooter player but i really enojoyed this game. The graphics in 1 player mode are great and all the bonus unlockable items do give this game extra replay value. The 2 player mode is good just wish the split screen was a little bigger. If you can find this game a for a good price i would highly recommend it.

I was realy looking forward to this game. There is nothing qite like killing huge, vicious alians. Graphics wise, this game was prety descent considering its hard to take it to the next level when not in first person. The akrid lookes spectacular and the enviorment was rugged and lush.
The gameplay was much like the fist lost planet, with the exception of the harmonizer, a tool used to quickly heal yourself with your T-energy, you can tell the design was based more on killing the akrid and pirates than on the design of your character. Unlike the first lost planet you can eathier co-op or use AI to help you with your missions. Also there is a larg veriaty of akrid to face as well as different kinds of pirates and the bosses are EPIC. As far as weapons, the selection is the same as the first game.
Another little differance from the first is the character progression. A cool feater is that you can gain money to unlock online multiplayer, as well as ingame weapons, clothing and other unlockable items and actions, from playing through the story. Also the story is about 14 hours long and will keep you playing for a while.
The online multiplayer is not to shabby. Its no killzone 2 or COD, but its has plenty of modes and unlockables to keep someone playing it. Also as a little bonus there is a mode offline in which you can face AI insted of real players to get your practice in.
The only problems with this game is a few interface issuse and some issuse with the controls. Also when you go into the inside of an akrid like the catagory G akrid, a huge akrid you will have to destroy from the inside, you can tell there was not much work done to the design and polish, probably because you do not spend to much time in there.
Overall this game is definitely worth playing. It has a good campaign, cool featers, and a descent multiplayer. Pick this game up if you want to play a good game by yourself or with others.

Was looking for a multi player (split screen)

I like to play multi player games on the same TV with my BF, so saw this, snagged it, turned out to be a pretty cool game. Playing different groups of soldiers and such, customizable and a little challenging when you try to get all the challenges and trophies. Fun to hit each other with the grappling hooks too LOL!

Terrible

To be brief, the button layout is pathetically bad. There is no story to speak of, no characters to mention, mission progression is the worst aspect of the game.
Best Parts: Fighting giant monsters is fun, and the online is decent (though no one really plays this anymore)
Worst Parts: Missions are generally broken up 1-1, 1-2, 1-3 and then 2-1...and so on. You have to beat a whole section, that is 1-1 through 1-3 for instance before the game saves. So if you lose at 1-3 lets say, you have to start ALL over. And the game is really bad at telling you how to complete an objective, so a lot of times you'll lose and not know why but still have to repeat 1-1 and 1-2 all over again for NO reason.

Don't believe the Reviews

Though this game tanked when it came to professional reviews, don't believe the hype. Although everything they say is technically true, they make a way bigger deal out of the extent to which it detracts from the game than it actually does. I haven't had this much monster slaying fun with my friends in a very long time, and I enjoyed every minute of this game. It has some rough patches, but overall it was a great experience! Just be sure to play with friends!

when i got the game it was on sale for 10$. i played the 1st one and enjoyed it but wasnt a big fan of the demo for lost planet 2, but figured it could be terrible for 10$ and still be worth it. well it turned out to be a great game. well worth the price and worth even more. the single player campaign is fun as well as the multiplayer.

Great game for a value/steal!

I bought this game over Xmas for $10...which is a steal! This game is easily worth $30 and well worth the time to play through. There may be little replay value but its cheaper than going to the movies and a good sequel to the first which was a lot a fun as well.

Ok for co-op

I bought this game when it was on sale for $10 to play splitscreen co-op with a friend. If I had paid more than that, I might have felt ripped off. For $10, I don't regret buying it.
The controls felt off to me when I first started playing and that never left. It's a third person shooter, and one of the things I found particularly annoying was that you couldn't switch which shoulder you looked over as in some other third person shooters. It doesn't sound like that big of a deal until you need to peak around a corner to take some guys out and the corner is on the opposite side from where you're looking.
As others have pointed out, the places where you start back after dying are way too far back, and you will die, repeatedly. Also, I was a bit disappointed with the graphics considering this game was made in 2010. Maybe it's because I was only playing splitscreen co-op, which can sometimes worsen the graphics. Considering this game is centered around co-op though, seems like they should've done a better job.

A very fun ride to hell and back

This game is an overlooked gem. Days of great fun slaying hell's demons and blasting angels out of the sky. You play as War, one of the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse. Similar in play and fun to the GOW series with an entertaining storyline and a great cast of characters. The game is a steal, you can't get a better game for the price!

Bad Game, don't waste your $$$ or Time

Lost Planet 2 plays like it was never put in front of a member of its intended audience at some point during its development, someone who might have asked "why?": "Why can't I pause the game unless I make my game unjoinable?" "Why can't I join a co-op game in progress?" "Why can this monster kill me in two hits?" A little "why?" may have taken this game in a different, more compelling direction. If you've burned through other multiplayer or co-op options, then there might be something for you in Lost Planet 2. The single player campaign is lengthy at around 14 hours with full co-op support and the multiplayer has plenty of maps and modes. Just do yourself a favor: buy some insurance for the controller you'll invariably throw across the room at one of Lost Planet 2's seemingly endless design and interface issues.
7 Presentation
Lost Planet 2's menus and options feel dated and clunky, and are often a hindrance to playing the game. There are a lot of options though.
9 Graphics
Lost Planet 2 is a gorgeous game with a ton of variety in locales and things to kill. The Cat-G Akrid are particularly impressive.
8.5 Sound
The score is epic and actually quite good. It just would have been nice to hear it more often.
5.0 Gameplay
The controls respond poorly, co-op is implemented badly, and the level design is awful. The foundation of Lost Planet 2 is its biggest issue.
8 Lasting Appeal
Assuming that you make it that far, there's a lot to see in Lost Planet 2, from full co-op to a ton of multiplayer maps.

Worst game I have played in years. The controls are iffy, the enviorments look horrable, and the AI is bad for the creatures and your team. I bought it on a $10 deal and It wasnt worth it. Traded it in for credit.

I love to play the game either coop or solo but online is ok when you get a round that doesn't have a bunch of people on it with nothing else to do but play that game all the time.
